“What did you catch yesterday?” Spence says.

“Good job.”

Everyone! Check the end of yesterday’s post! Dima needs prayers and hugs. He’s not doing well.
10:42 am on January 23rd, 2014
Creator of us all, be with Dima and his family at this difficult time. Help them to feel the love of the Plunderers and know that they are not alone.
Amen

OH: Know Dima is in our prayers. This is too much, you are right 🙁 We aren’t going to greet the day for about an hour. Please keep us posted.
10:45 am on January 23rd, 2014

Please bring peace and comfort to Dima and his family at this time.

Where do you think Spence is enjoying all the fish? Wonder if he is somewhere very warm.
10:58 am on January 23rd, 2014
I found this on a friends Facebookie page and thought of Dima and all of us who need some light right now.

10:58 am on January 23rd, 2014
If Spence is enjoying a po’boy he might be in New Orleans or somewhere in Florida.
10:59 am on January 23rd, 2014
Thank you Staff, that is a lovely picture.
11:04 am on January 23rd, 2014
Dima–Every atom and cell of your body is filling with light.
11:05 am on January 23rd, 2014
I wonder if the red fish is red snapper which is delish.
I hope Dima is okay.
Good morning all.

I like to post a related video when a checkpoint is sponsored. Since Rainy Pass is now a Kat! checkpoint, I’ll use the you tube video Spence posted on facebook above. Click on it.

Dima, Oh Dog, We are praying for you and we love you, sob, sob, sob
11:40 am on January 23rd, 2014
Thank you everyone for your prayers and light. Dima will not make it thru this. We are devastated.
11:43 am on January 23rd, 2014
Dima, you have been such a good dog. You made your mom’s Christmas wish come true. You gave her a happy new year. If now is the time that you must go, go knowing that you were a good and faithful companion, and you were loved. Run to greet those waiting at the bridge.
11:45 am on January 23rd, 2014
If Dima’s condition is as bad as you say here, then we know Sasha is waiting excitedly for him.
11:45 am on January 23rd, 2014
Fellow Sibers, We know you are devastated. Mom and I are setting here crying our eyes out. Hugs and prayers from us to you guys.
11:57 am on January 23rd, 2014
O’Howlers: Tears being shed for this huge loss. Dima, a strong and handsome Husky, is cherished and lives on in our hearts.
11:57 am on January 23rd, 2014
Macy expressed what we are feeling. There will be many friends waiting for him at the bridge.
12:10 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Mom complained this morning about the leaves we drag in. A petty complaint. She is now going to harvest those leaves and thank Dog for the friends that bring them in 🙂
T&G: How is the Storyteller this a.m. Lucy is plum tuckered out.
12:14 pm on January 23rd, 2014
O’Howlers we are so sad for your loss but proud of Dima for making sure your Holidays were wonderful. It was a precious present he gave you at the last. Remember how he looked out for you all his life, just as you cared for him. I know he is happy to see the others who have gone before.
12:27 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dawson, thank you for the little bit of levity in the midst of all this sadness.
12:33 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dima is still getting the blood transfusion. I don’t know if he is still bleeding. I am at work, and Dima is at Hope Vet Spec…just down the road.
I was given 3 options when i took him in this morning. Option 1 was that awful one that i can’t type. Option 2 was the transfusion so that he can come home and spend some time with us. Option 3 was the transfusion and then more drugs which would be only ~25-35% chance of success and if successful would only give him 30-40 days. We have not made a decision. I am waiting to hear the results from today, if he stopped bleeding out.
12:41 pm on January 23rd, 2014
O’H–Praying that Option 2 works for you.
12:42 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dima!…sniffle!…Oh noooo. Another sad and bleary day ahead…sob!
12:45 pm on January 23rd, 2014
I am so very sorry to bring more sadness to this here blog.
Plans for Alaska are suddenly on hold.
12:50 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Gone for a couple of days and now this devastating news.
Everyone at Oley Howlers we feel your pain. We are praying for the best possible outcome for our beloved friend Dima and you his loving family. We Love All of You!!!

We have wifi here and will be checking in throughout the day. Will be home again late Friday morning.
12:55 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Howler’s Mom, We are with you.
Masquers, Glad you have returned.
12:56 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Howlers!…I sent a text message from my little Go-Phone to Rebecca, who is on the top of the world….sniffle!…She says she is also praying for our pal Dima…wuffle!
1:04 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Thank you, Rio.
1:06 pm on January 23rd, 2014
I am not sure you want input as this is such a personal decision, but we would go with Option 2. Option 3 seems like a lot to put him thru for just one extra month. If there was a 25-35% chance of cure, that would be different. He has fought a good fight and granted your wish for the holidays. This is one of those agonizing times when we have to weigh the options and decide what is best for our loving companion.
1:06 pm on January 23rd, 2014
OH’s, you will know the right decision to make when you have to make it. We jumped through hoops to keep Gus with us and each and every day was worth it…until he could no longer enjoy life. In your heart, you will know whether or not to opt for #2 or #3. If Alaska is put on hold, there is next year.
We have strong prayers for your boy. We will hold him and you in our hearts.

Know what you mean HOH. We just saw Abbie up above.
1:55 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Just finding out about Dima. Big prayers for the best outcome. Why can’t dogs live as long as humans. Their loss hurts so much.
The Storyteller does NOT have a blood clot. He is resting comfortably. However, now Mama has whatever he has. It’s not nearly do scary in her – the Storyteller only has one lung, so respiratory stuff is serious with him. Just an inconvenience for Mama. But she is headed back to bed.
2:13 pm on January 23rd, 2014
T and G–thanks for the good news about the Storyteller, and hope your Mama is better soon.
(I don’t think he’s actually been fishing…)
2:23 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Thanks for the welcome back Siber. We’ll return home tomorrow.
Good news about the Storyteller. Praying for good news about Dima.
Royal Mum: Feel better! Melanie hope you are getting some rest.
2:28 pm on January 23rd, 2014
The Northern lights 300 has been cancelled.
Meet the New Year. Same as the Old Year.
🙁
2:37 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Prayers for Dima and his family. Perhaps Dima will let you know what is best. It must be hard to be at work while this is happening.
2:58 pm on January 23rd, 2014
C.Hobbit is right. You have such a strong connection with Dima, he will let you know what he wants to do. Strong prayers here for all of you.
Glad The Storyteller is better. Amalia, take care, you just got over being sick.
2:59 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Race!…So if the race is cancelled this weekend, what happens to all the meat and supplies that AJ cut up of Philips drop bags?…grunt!
3:08 pm on January 23rd, 2014
According to the No. Lights website, they are planning to reschedule the race, perhaps even change some of the course.
3:46 pm on January 23rd, 2014
The 300 is an Iditarod qualifying race for Phillip Walters…good to hear it will not be cancelled.
4:18 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Thoughts and prayers for your extra special boy Dima from here in Chevy Chase. We know more than most how precious extra time can be. At at the end, Wookie was strong enough not to leave us on Christmas Day, but to fight through until the day after, a final gift for which we will always be grateful.
4:28 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Oh, no, no, no! My heart is breaking for Dima and his family.
Creator, if this is Dima’s time let your shining light guide him over the bridge with no pain. Embrace Dima’s family in the warmth and goodness of your love. Dima was loved by his family and his friends here on the blog. Dima knows how big his family’s love is, and will carry it with him forever. Lead Dima’s family to comfort and peace.
4:31 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Royal Mum, I hope you will feel tip-top soon. So thankful to hear that the Storyteller is on the mend.
4:37 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Rose, My dear friend, how are you feeling?
4:43 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Wose, Amen
4:53 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Masquers, I am feeling a little blue. It is very hard to be out of work, especially when a career counselor tells you that you really do not have marketable skills. sniff
4:57 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Meashka & Kat: Please let us know the minute you hear any news about Dima.
5:12 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Checking in for news on all our friends.
Wose–you probably DO have marketable skills that that person may not know about. Don’t despair. (And if you want to talk about this I’m blanzifloratjunodotcom.)
5:22 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Wose, How could you have been working all these years if you don’t have marketable skills? Obviously the counselor doesn’t know beans. Is there a different career path you could take, perhaps something you have always wanted to do but haven’t yet? Any type of business you could start up on your own?
5:24 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Wose: No Marketable Skills? What a Crocka! Someone here is Very Upset. Don’t listen to those who do not know of what they speak.
5:46 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dima – thinking of you and your family. Amen to Wose’s prayer.
Thinking of Wose! I’m sorry you can’t market your heart, because you give it for free to all who need it. And we thank you.
Spring-like, healing thoughts to all Plunderers. Take care, Everybody.

Macy, Those conditions are really scary. Wow, you better hunker down and stay home. If it really gets down to 37 degrees it could be life threatening.
6:09 pm on January 23rd, 2014
On the news they are showing a terrible accident on east bound I 94, in Indiana heading towards Chicago. They had lake effect white-out snow and there about 60-70 cars and semis involved in the accident. There are fatalities and many people are still trapped in their cars at the scene. They said the highway will be closed for hours.
6:23 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dima is home. He is exhausted but I will nurse him. Mom says we are going to circle the wagons. I didn’t even know we have wagons, but it sounds good to me.
6:26 pm on January 23rd, 2014
I am doing all I can to be the best pillow for my pal, Dima. The Veil between this side of the Bridge and the other side had been lifted. There is so much light of love, comfort and guidance. It is a thing of beauty when this happens.
6:36 pm on January 23rd, 2014
B&M Saw fotos of accident. Looks awful. Macy, around here when it snows, everyone likes their minds.
Dima & OH, Rose, T&G’s ‘rents: Take care of yourselves.
6:39 pm on January 23rd, 2014
MagPie, they just showed that awful accident on TV. I have driven in many white outs in ski country. I don’t miss that.
O’Howlers, we are all circling the wagons right along with you.
6:56 pm on January 23rd, 2014
We are joining in the wagon circle. Take care Dima. We love you.
7:02 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dima, We are here too. Hugs and Tummies and all Good things for you.
7:18 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dima, Us too, We are here. I know Meashka will take good care of you.
7:22 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Getting to be a mighty big circle, maybe the circle of life?
7:23 pm on January 23rd, 2014
We have 2 wagons, should we bring them when we join the circle?
7:24 pm on January 23rd, 2014
My most, special, best friend , Wose: What is this nonsense about no marketable skills? That Damn Pixie says she will help, help, help you with your résumé! Pancho and lefty for their part are willing to grab a pant leg or too. They are sharpening their teeth on slim Jims as we speak. Smooch and sparkles, Belle Starr
7:31 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Howlers: We don’t have wagons, but can throw our sleds into the circle if that will help.
7:34 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Circle!….I could say I will put my warm soft bed in the circle but I won’t….sniff!…Instead, I will do Gas-Patrol…heh!
7:46 pm on January 23rd, 2014
I am going to decorate the wagons.
CHH: I need a baby donkey or I’m going to be in a very bad mood.
Macy: Head bumps to you and your family.
7:57 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Dear Dima: Gentle hugs, tummies, ear scritches and a whole lot of love for you.
T&G: Good news that the Storyteller doesn’t have a blood clot. Bad news that Amalia now has the respiratory crud. Feel better soon, both of you.
Melanie & Zoe: Thinking of you…
Karen & Truman: Thinking of you two, too.
Snowhook Kennels: Thinking of you, whooo hoooo!
MacyMinPin’s Pop: Please accept my belated condolences on the loss of your mother.
Wose: I too find it hard to believe that you have no marketable skills. Perhaps you have skills that just need a little upgrading?
8:10 pm on January 23rd, 2014
My Wose is perfect as is. I will go toe to claw with any career noncounselor who says otherwise. Grump.
8:16 pm on January 23rd, 2014
My VBFF, Belle Starr, please tell the Pixie that I really and truly appreciate her help. I know that she and the Giant are very busy with the Iditarod coming soon.
Maybe Pancho and lefty can grab a pantleg first.
8:18 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Belle Starr, I would do the same for you.
8:19 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Happy Dima is home, Lhasa and terrier wagons joining the circle. Blessings and peace (and glitter) on all.

OH: Lovely portrait of the 2 “big dogs”. Cherish it.
Strange weather here. Earlier this month had 72 hours below 32F. This time was supposed to be 2 days but is is turning into 5 days below freezing. Sunday they are saying 50’s then back for a couple more days below freeze 🙁 Gah! Have we died and been sent to Michigan? Or maybe it is Alaska practice.
8:57 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Nurse Meashka: Bless you. (sniff)
8:58 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Nurse Meash is the best an Dima deserves nothing less.
9:22 pm on January 23rd, 2014
We are sending Corgi hugs to Dima.
Rose – we are sure that you are one of the smartest people in the room, and the right job is out there looking for you-you-you !
Tucking Mama back under the quilt. Hope tomorrow is a better day.
9:23 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Nurse Meashka, you are doing a good job. Sleep well Dima.
9:24 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Weather!…Ya know, I am so damned sick of hearing weather reports I could puke up multi-colored curling pants…grunt!…Who thinks this is interesting reading? Not me…grump!
Interesting!….What is interesting is news about the great big pile-up on I-94 because of the weather…sniff!….Interesting and terrifying at the same time…wheeze!
9:31 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Meashka, Thanks for the picture. sniff
10:01 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Wonderful picture! I’m sure Dima is glad to be home with his family. Wishing him a restful night.
10:09 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Restful night to all. Nighty night.
10:15 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Have a restful night Dima. You are in good paws with Nurse Meash.
10:26 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Po’Boy!…Coincidentally the show Top Chef has been centered around Louisiana cusine…heh!…Tonight we are watching an episode where the chefs are creating po’boy sandwiches…snort!…So we here know that Spencer is eating very well during his trip to Louisiana…heh!heh!
10:37 pm on January 23rd, 2014
My heart is full but aching tonight after reading this here blog. Blurring love to those who need it tonight. We are in this together.
10:53 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Such a great photo of two very special doggies.
I drove home in the rain. Yuck! It will drop below freezing tonight which means more days of skating on the ice in the car. We need Alaskan weather to stay home and not travel anywhere.
Thinking of Zoe & Melanie; Karen & Truman, Macy’s Mom, the O’Howlers. Bless us all with health and healing
11:00 pm on January 23rd, 2014
CHobbit!…I do not like the thought of you out driving around in your little Hobbit Car on thin ice…sniff!…Why don’t you stay home during this bad rain slash freezing black-ice time?…sniff!…You are retired, right? You have all the time in each and every day, right? Why go out if you do not have to?….wheeze!
11:06 pm on January 23rd, 2014
We are ready to sign off too. More updates on the accident on I94, one of the busiest highways in the US. Deadly pileup occurred about 65 miles from Chicago. So far 3 deceased, 20+ injured. Still in a shut down, but it looks like all people have been cut out of their cars. It will probably take all night before the hwy. is reopened. All due to the white-out conditions.
Hope Dima and all others under The Quilt are resting comfortably.
11:15 pm on January 23rd, 2014
Rio: in the afternoon the main roads are just wet. They freeze at night then melt the next day. It is all the other roads that are dangerous. My sister and I went out to a fancy restaurant for dessert in honor of what was our mother’s birthday. She used to make Bananas Foster so we located a place that made them tableside and dug in. Maybe not worth the $15/each but we still wanted to do it. Only tricky part was the sidewalks.
Will check in later before bedtime. Still thinking of Dima and holding him close in my heart.
11:17 pm on January 23rd, 2014
OMDawg!…When my friend drove the bo-dunk two lane highway to work each day, this was her greatest fear…sniff!…One of those multie-car-pile-ups. The highway she used to drive curves in a large spot and there is NO snow blocking fences of any kind in that stretch. So white-out conditions, freezing over and cars flying off the highway is quite normal…sniff!…Now of course she drives a new route with other dangers, but nothing like that bo-dunk highway…grunt!
11:51 pm on January 23rd, 2014
CHobbit: Much as I would love your jello recipe to welcome us to the Hobbit Hotel, could we have Bananas Foster instead?
11:56 pm on January 23rd, 2014
How many days until you come north to Alaska? Is it more than two days?
12:02 am on January 24th, 2014
Annabelle: It might be more than 2 but I’m not sure because my brain went to sleep early tonight.
12:06 am on January 24th, 2014
Dawson: That is alright. More than two does not compute in my mind. I just know you, you, you will be here with me, me, me soon. I will show you the ropes of being a lead dog just like I did for daughter Twig.
12:08 am on January 24th, 2014
Nurse Meashka you are doing a fine job. I am sure the quilt is lots better with you in there keeping an eye on Dima. Alice and Abbie send more hugs to you both.
Nighty noodle youse guys.
And LizF. Good morning!
12:24 am on January 24th, 2014
I am glad to have my Lady home for a couple of days. Nighty nutter butters.
1:49 am on January 24th, 2014
Dawson: Bananas Foster involves singed eyebrows at the minimum and the fire department at the maximum.
Annabelle: is your driveway passable for a Toyota Prius these days?
8:03 am on January 24th, 2014
Everybody down here has been trying to ppush this polar weather Way Up north, and we know Snowhook and The Hobbit have been trying to push their temps (45 in the middle of the night!!!!) down to us. Something in the middle is stopping this exchange: Canada?
Dawson!!!!!!
9:51 am on January 24th, 2014
O’Howlers: I have been thinking about Dima all night. The picture of Nurse Meash tending to Dima was lovely.
10:13 am on January 24th, 2014
I missed the picture of Nurse Meashka yesterday. It’s wonderful. I hope everyone kept warm and well last night.
