Good morning! Clancy’s story is a great one! Thanks Staff and Admin/Spence.
Mom went to her office today so finally we can get back to our real jobs of guarding this farm. Mom seemed so down that we felt like we had to lie/lay at her feet all day every day this week.
8:38 am on February 21st, 2013
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 TY. One from each of the herd, and one from me.
8:47 am on February 21st, 2013
Greetings!
Bravo, Clancy!
OH’s: Maybe all youse guys are Smoochers! Love, hugs and headbumps to youse!
9:17 am on February 21st, 2013
Way to go Clancy!
10:15 am on February 21st, 2013
Clancy, Good Dog! You are my hero.
Rose: Speaking of the S-Team…we will be blurring in late this evening. Please leave the light on and the key under the mat. We will TRY to make a soft, quiet landing so as not to wake youse up.
10:19 am on February 21st, 2013
Hi and bye. We will be off the grid today. Kelly is coming to paint the den/study and install the new desk when she is done. Computer (hopefully) will be back on by the end of the day.
Snow fall is going to start big time by evening rush hour. We should get about 6 inches by the time it is over.
Happy day everyone.
10:23 am on February 21st, 2013
I’m bringing the fire hose so Rose won’t be going to the Iditarod with scorched hair. Not sure about a soft landing.
10:47 am on February 21st, 2013
Masquers, all systems go. Key will be under the mat, and the living room lights will be on. Thanks Sammie, for bringing the hose. Just make sure the other Smoochers give you a paw with that. It might be too heavy for you to carry alone.
10:50 am on February 21st, 2013
Chet, Spence & Admin: Nice post!
And kudos to one of our favorite Plunderers for the Great Investigative Work!
Hey Gang, Check out the Cool Fan Art over on facebookie.
11:16 am on February 21st, 2013
As people were posting their favorite quotes last night, I would like to add mine to the mix. This is from Carolyn Knapp, Pack of Two (but is also in the front of You Tell Your Dog First by Alison Pace, author as well as such great classics as A Pug’s Tale and Pug Hill):
“Before you get a dog, you can’t imagine what living with one might be like; afterward, you can’t imagine living any other way.”
Wookie certainly taught us that.
11:25 am on February 21st, 2013
Wookie, Mom loves that quote.
We envy youse who are getting all that snow.
Why is Kat looking for a manual for our fire extinguisher?
11:54 am on February 21st, 2013
Wookie’s Dad: We here have found that to be one of the great truisms of life.
Heh. No worries for tomorrow…looks like Kat has the fire extinguisher business well in paw.
11:54 am on February 21st, 2013
Wookie’s Dad, I love Carolyn Knapp’s book “Pack of Two.” Her book “Drinking: A Love Story” was also excellent. I felt very bad when she died.
12:05 pm on February 21st, 2013
Princess, I can’t figure put to work this here fire extinguisher. I hope yours is easier. How do you open it to get to the water?
12:15 pm on February 21st, 2013
Good dog, Clancy! Because of you the whole neighborhood is safer.
By the way, if you want a haircut let me know.
12:15 pm on February 21st, 2013
Mom loved that book, “A Pack of Two.” She did not read the second one, but like Rose, felt very bad when the author died.
Fellow Sibers, “Guarding the farm”. That is a good one, but I know you meant guarding the farm from wildlife intrusions and not two-leggeds. It does help, though, that some people are scared to death of us because of the way we look.
Clancy, Another dog hero!
Wose, Mom and I will be with you in spirit. Just keep your mind focused on all the cool sled dogs you are going to meet.
12:24 pm on February 21st, 2013
gah, The Buffalo Sibers are at the bottom of their division. I am having one of those been there, done that, experiernces.
12:25 pm on February 21st, 2013
Wahoo for Clancy! And hat tip indeed to the magnificent Nancy D!
Howlers – your mom may need extra cuddles when she gets home, so please don’t get too muddy or chase any black and white “kitties” today while guarding your farm.
Just coming home from Physical therapy. – still have to have the big white thingie…until the middle of March anyway. Waaaaaahhh!
12:44 pm on February 21st, 2013
Kat, there should be a thing on top with a loop. Grab it and pull. You can practice this while Mom is at work.
12:45 pm on February 21st, 2013
As the blizzard moves into the Midwest it is good to know B&M will be cozy and warm, inside, safe from the storm.
Alice & Abbie: Snow advisory for mañana (heh. as if you didn’t know ^..^)
Oh, T&G, That is too bad for your mama. The good news is your dad is learning cook, albeit only with her close supervision.
12:52 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rose: I just noticed…we posted to Wookie’s Dad at the same time!
1:01 pm on February 21st, 2013
Indeed we did, Masquers! We are so in sync with each other.
1:07 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber-H, Thank you and your mom for thinking of me. Blip, the therapy dog that was with me last time, will be there with me for Friday’s lightning bolts. Both Masquers and I suspect, that Wookie is really Blip in disguise. Blip is such a beautiful Golden, so loving, and such a gentleman.
I really wish I could take you with me to Snowhook so you could meet your fellow Sibes.
Head bumps and hugs to youse guys.
1:08 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber-H, tell your mom I really recommend Ms. Knapp’s “Drinking: A Love Story.”
1:13 pm on February 21st, 2013
Snow!…Beau and I are playing a game called “Who can stay inside the longest without bursting”…sniff!…So far we are tied.
1:19 pm on February 21st, 2013
That tab is so cool! Thanks, Princess.
Ummm could Luna please pick me up before Mama gets home?
1:37 pm on February 21st, 2013
Wose, Thanks for recommending the book. Mom has thought often about reading it.
Blip is a Golden! Mom thinks Goldens are just about perfect. I’m glad Blip will be there with you on Friday.
Rio is getting snow. I am not.
I am worried about his frinend driving home in it.
1:40 pm on February 21st, 2013
So we keep hearing youse guys talk about both Alison Pace and Carolyn Knapp. Mom wants to read one (or more) of those books. Which book do you recommend first?
1:45 pm on February 21st, 2013
Aw oh…Kat. What have you done?
Reading an interview on Iditarod.com with Dallas Seavey and he has 6 handlers! Must be nice. Between full time jobs requiring trips out of town, our musher and BDHW are doing it all themselves. More power to them because they need it. Go Snowhook!
1:58 pm on February 21st, 2013
Fellow Sibers, I only read that one book by Knapp, so I don’t know about other recommendations.
This has been said before, but I will say it again, I don’t know how Rebecca and AJ do it.
2:07 pm on February 21st, 2013
Thursday night/Friday A.M.
Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 17. East northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
and then for Friday
Snow. High near 25. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible
Friday night only 70% chance and only 1/2″
No problem…heh heh heh.
2:14 pm on February 21st, 2013
Dawson, Does that response (at 12:15) mean you have figured out how to cut your hair and it is a done deal?
2:17 pm on February 21st, 2013
OH — I actually have not read the Knapp book yet (although it is now on my to read list) even though I really like the quote. Alison Pace has written some good fiction (the Pug books for example) although You Tell Your Dog First is more of a personal memoir. At the risk of getting myself in a lot of trouble, I would describe it as more of a girl’s book than a guy’s book, although I did enjoy reading it myself. I think Rio’s friend may have read some of her fiction.
2:21 pm on February 21st, 2013
Tupper& Gilly: Tell your Mama that lonn waiting time can’t be Much more than 2 weeks. In the meantime can’t she find some Good Use for the Big White Thingy? Like using it to whack those that get out of line?
Rio: Like Siber-H said…we all Worry when your Friend drives in Bad Weather.
No One Knows how Team Snowhook does it. There doesn’t seem to be enough hours in their day to accomplish all that they do.
Wonder how our SnowBella of the North is doing today on her latest Adventure to the furthest reaches of the state…..

Now is the time to make reservations on Alaska Airlines. A Catty Librarian is coming to visit in March.
Check this out Dawson.
2:31 pm on February 21st, 2013
Alice & Abbie: Stay inside!
btw: This latest winter storm is named Q. Sounds like something out of a Bond film.
2:35 pm on February 21st, 2013
I have only read one of her books. I liked it. A Pug’s Tale. Now that I have looked up more of her stuff I might try to find some more. A Pug’s Tale is a sequel to Pug Hill which was not in the bookstore when I was looking. I would read Pug Hill first I think.
http://www.alisonpace.com/books/
Goodreads.com has some reviews of her other books.
2:37 pm on February 21st, 2013
Q was one of the characters on Star Trek.

2:39 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber! Thinking that maybe if your mom can rush a photo to Rose, BOTH you and Riö can be there to meet the Team.
2:46 pm on February 21st, 2013
Staff: No I have not cut my hair yet. I read a little further in the book and I’m supposed to be in a good mood (actually it says not to be angry) so I am waiting for that Chet-like mood. I was only looking for some practice.
I called for dental appointment before I head south in April. All booked up. Today they called with a cancellation so I’m in.
3:09 pm on February 21st, 2013
that is if you don’t have a construction project going on……
3:21 pm on February 21st, 2013
Dawson: Hmmm…Don’t cut your hair when you’re angry…wonder why. snicker.
3:24 pm on February 21st, 2013
And Q was inventor for Bond, but, speaking of Q. If there is white stuff, Quickly and Quietly Quest for the house in a Queenly fashion before Quips are made!
3:31 pm on February 21st, 2013
Nana says when anyone in the family saw Scissors in her hands they Ran for the Hills. Can you say “Lopsided”?
Herd of Hounds: Tongue Twister!
3:40 pm on February 21st, 2013
Drive!…My friend sent me a text on my little Go-Phone, which is out of time and has not been charged in over a month, that said she is sure glad she emptied me and Beau’s treatie fund and opted to buy 4 new tires this past weekend…sniff!…She says she would never have made it to the busy-place on the old tires…pisshaw!…. That does not explain the Zero Balance in my treatie fund…wheeze!grunt!
3:43 pm on February 21st, 2013
Calculation!…I’ve been doing some calcultions on our fund and everything adds up to Zero…grumble!…How can this be? I wonder if Beau has figured out how to access the fund. He has been waiting a long time to get the Beaus-Mobile out of hock…grunt!….Talk about bad tires.
3:49 pm on February 21st, 2013
Grunt!…My friend just sent me this text: “Go outside now or this will be You!”
4:19 pm on February 21st, 2013
You’d better do it Rio.
4:19 pm on February 21st, 2013
Good, now that Sharon is busy texting someone, we, the herd, want to know why when the white stuff threatens, two leggers race to the store to buy white stuff…bread and milk. We can think of better things to buy!
P.S. Rio, if anyone gets near you holding pink, RUN!
4:32 pm on February 21st, 2013
Sammie!…I did it, but I’m not saying where….snort!
4:34 pm on February 21st, 2013
Heh. Cute, Riö.
Sharon’s Herd: Then too there are those who wait until the big flakes are falling before it dawns on them they are short on supplies. These seem to be the ones that don’t have a clue how to drive in it.
4:38 pm on February 21st, 2013
Herd – we agree. There are no such things as white dog treats, so they better buy other stuff.
Staff – Q was a very scary guy on StarTrek. We will hope the storm is not being named for his despotic sense of humor.
Now going to check out the Alaska Airlines site….
4:44 pm on February 21st, 2013
who, not that.
5:32 pm on February 21st, 2013
Captured!…I just got word from the field agents that a bunch of the nastiest marauding goats (some are still in disguise as sheep) have been captured!…snort!snort!…Video was taken of some of the villians demanding their rights…sniff!

5:36 pm on February 21st, 2013
Pop says that everyone gets the urge for French Toast when snow is coming. Why else do they head out for eggs, bread, and milk?
5:52 pm on February 21st, 2013
OHs: In my humble opinion, I think your mom should read both of Carolyn Knapp’s books. Both are excellent. She can start with “Pack of Two”, and then “Drinking: A Love Story”. Ms. Knapp’s story of her alcoholism is very moving.
5:55 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber-H: Masquer’s idea is most excellent. If your mom can e-mail me your most handsomest picture, I can take you to Alaska with Rio. Then I can use your picture as my desktop saver at work, too!
5:57 pm on February 21st, 2013
Thanks for the input, all. We added those books to our “to read” on Goodreads.
5:58 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rio: OMD! That video Almost makes you feel sorry for them.
Forgot to say: Happy Birthday this morning to the Father of Our Country.
O’Howlers: French Toast! Yum.
5:58 pm on February 21st, 2013
Hey hey hey! I thought I was the desktop screensaver, Wose. You must have to save a lot of desktops.
6:14 pm on February 21st, 2013
Kat the Smoochiest of Smoochers, I give all youse guys that Imhave a picture of a turn on my desktop saver. Right now, I have the picture that Belle Starr recently posted of her inspecting one of the puppies. I do want you to know that I had your picture up for a while, and all my fellow workers loved your picture ( as I do), and commented on how beautiful you are.
6:17 pm on February 21st, 2013
I would really love it if all youse guys could send me a picture, so I can have different Plunderers on my screensaver all the time.
Oh, and Kat, people asked if you were my dog. Unfortunately, I had to tell them no. 🙁
6:20 pm on February 21st, 2013
Wose: The Carolyn Knapp books sound good to us too. Because of your Excellent Recommendation we now have them on hold at the library.
6:26 pm on February 21st, 2013
umm (whispering) Rose…I do not know how to email a picture or how to get a picture from the ditigal camera, which mom hates, into the computer.
You must not have been around when this discussion has happened before.
I can hear Rio laughing now.
6:36 pm on February 21st, 2013
With you Siber H. Still can’t get someone to help me here. Maybe if we all whine/
6:41 pm on February 21st, 2013
Bear, I think you will enjoy them. In fact, I ordered them today, so I will have my own copies.
Hmmmm, Siber-H, I am not a computer person at all, but if you could get the picture from the camera, you could send me an e-mail with the picture as an attachment…..
6:42 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber-H, maybe Kat can help. That’s how I got her picture
6:44 pm on February 21st, 2013
Or, maybe if you post your picture to this here blog, like Belle Starr did, I can just save it on my desktop, and you would be a screensaver too.
6:47 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rose, You do have my photo, right?
7:03 pm on February 21st, 2013
E here are howling with laughter. Sorry, Siber-H. heh heh heh heh heh
7:03 pm on February 21st, 2013
We here are howling with laughter. Sorry, Siber-H. heh heh heh heh heh
7:04 pm on February 21st, 2013
Oh, and that Double-D was a necessity.
7:25 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rose!…I’ve known SiberH a long time and in all that time he has never ever posted a photo…snort!…Which is a shame because we would all like to see the massive project he is working on….heh!
7:40 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rio! It is a shame! I would like to see some of Siber’s engineering work myself.
7:42 pm on February 21st, 2013
Masquers, I do have your SnowKat picture from FOC, but it does not blow up onto full size on my computer screen. Grump!
7:47 pm on February 21st, 2013
Excited!…I’m getting so excited for Rose and The Prof!….snort!snort!… They are so close to the Big Trip it is amazing!…Wooooo!…This means the Big Race is very near at paw…wow!wow!wow!…I think I will be 100 times more excited and worried this year…wheeze!
7:48 pm on February 21st, 2013
Wose: Here is a picture of a picture our very special friend, SiberH.
My mama has made it to her final destination today. She will stay whereever she is at through tomorrow night. I’ve been worrit that she is going to be eaten by a polar bear, but she assures me she is still on the outside of any bears’ inards.
7:50 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rio! The Prof and I are so excited! A trip that seemed so far away is only four days away. We are so excited, if we had a curly tai like yours, it would be straight!!
7:51 pm on February 21st, 2013
GAH!…I just found out that someone has forgotten to sign me up for the Insider…grump!…That most definitely will happen tonight…wheeze!
7:57 pm on February 21st, 2013
Belle Starr, thank you for posting the picture of the most handsome Siber-H. I tried him as my screensaver just now, but the picture is way too big. I have to figure out how to re-size it. Any suggestions?
8:03 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber, you look an awful lot like somebody we know. Hah!
Rose, four days sure sounds close to us. Is that more than 2?
8:04 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber-H: Sigh!
Belle Starr: Only 4 more days to I come to live with you, you, you!
8:05 pm on February 21st, 2013
Here is Siber’s song again, this time for Rose and the Prof.

Wose – how bout this one?

8:10 pm on February 21st, 2013
Message to everyone from Melanie and the Pack:
They are healthy enough, but are taking some time to themselves. The loss of their Leading Lady was very hard on them, especially in light of all the other losses and heartaches of the recent past.
But there was one very interesting moment the other day. On the day after the Matriarch crossed over the Bridge, Melanie went out into the back yard to find one of the dogs face to face with a Raven – sitting there in the snow, having a long conversation.
We here are pretty sure that the Raven was telling the rest of the Pack that their friend had arrived safely and was being cared for in the best way possible.
It certainly made Melanie feel better.
8:10 pm on February 21st, 2013
Settle down, Meash. Honestly.
8:13 pm on February 21st, 2013
OHs: It is 2+2 days.
8:13 pm on February 21st, 2013
Thanks for the update, T&G. We know the Raven is happy to be reunited with Eleanor.
8:18 pm on February 21st, 2013
Thank you Belle Starr!
Sharon, It is so nice to have a friend now in the low tech department.
Could someone please help Sharon with an Avatar when you have time?
Fellow Sibers, Stop laughing. We are, after all, a primitive breed. We aren’t expected to be high tech.
8:19 pm on February 21st, 2013
T&G: Success! Thanks for the picture! Thanks also for keeping us updated with Melanie. I miss her on this here blog, but understand that she and Zoe need to take some time for themselves.
8:22 pm on February 21st, 2013
Siber-H: I will print that picture T&G sent of your most handsome self, and take you to Alaska along with Rio!
8:23 pm on February 21st, 2013
T&G, Thank you for the photo and the update on Melanie and the Newfs. I am glad they are taking some time for themselves. I hope they are all getting a good rest.
8:25 pm on February 21st, 2013
Wose, Thank you for taking my photo and Rio’s to Alaska. Please show Junior my picture. I adopted him as my nephew.
8:27 pm on February 21st, 2013
Masquers, will you send me another picture of yourself. I would like to have the right size you for my screensaver.
Signing off now. I have an early wake-up for lightning bolts, so I need to go to bed and rest up.
Masquers, key under mat, lights on, snacks left out for youse guys.
Sweet dreams, youse guys!
8:29 pm on February 21st, 2013

8:59 pm on February 21st, 2013
I hope my two-legged gets here before my Wose. My Two-legged says she will be home in two days and Wose will be here in 2+2=2 days. Yeep!
Kat and Princess Sam: My Four-legged will blur you in the morning.
9:03 pm on February 21st, 2013
Close!…snort!…Nothing like cutting it close, eh Bellie?..sniff!….And I don’t mean Dawson’s hair.
9:05 pm on February 21st, 2013
Royals: Thank you for letting us know of the Meeting Melanie spoke of Between the Raven and a Member of the Pack.
All is Well.
9:05 pm on February 21st, 2013
Idol!….Tonight they pick the top 5 guys…sniff!…I may have misled Rebecca last night when I said Adriana from Anchorage was in the the Top Five…wheeze!….She is in the Top Five of the gals. There will be 10 finalists after tonight…chuffle!…I still don’t know for sure who will winnit. Not till I hear the guys sing…wooooOOOOoooOOOOooooOOO!
9:07 pm on February 21st, 2013
I volunteer Molly’s Mom to do Sharon’s avatar as soon as she gets well. Molly’s Mom is the keeper of my avatar and Siber-H’s also.
9:15 pm on February 21st, 2013
Rio: I haven’t had time to even think about how short to cut Dawson’s hair. I’ve been so busy supervising AJ. This is no small task. Without my tuteledge he would no idea how often I need attention. This belly isn’t going to rub itself.
9:16 pm on February 21st, 2013
Thank you Princess Sam and Molly’s Mom in advance.
I am sorry to hear she isn’t feeling well. She is in our thoughts and prayers and best wishes.
9:17 pm on February 21st, 2013
Princess Sam: Do you need the backup of the Smoochers to take care of Yourauntmollysmom? If so, just say the word.
9:33 pm on February 21st, 2013
Fellow Smoochers: I prefer to travel by night so will be going on ahead…Rose said she left out snacks for us…I will try to leave some for youse.
p.s. Kat & Sammie, Don’t forget the fire extinguisher.
9:35 pm on February 21st, 2013
Mr. Seaver may have six handlers, but he does NOT have the Plunderers!
I betcha Bella and the Giant wouldn’t trade us for 7 handlers!
Heh!
9:39 pm on February 21st, 2013
Belly, I am in the Cat House just now. Mama says that fire extinguisher is no good now. 🙁
Can’t wait to blur on up to Wose’s tomorrow. Then Moma will miss me…she’ll see.
9:41 pm on February 21st, 2013
Stink!…All the guys on Idol stink so far, so I think it is the Gals Year to winnit!…heh!
9:43 pm on February 21st, 2013
Whats this? Aunt MollysMom is sick? I didn’t know. Wose, I am going to have to blur over there after the lightning bolts. MollysMom will need me to hop in bed
onwith her.9:44 pm on February 21st, 2013
Mollys Mom: I hope you will be feeling better very soon.
Luna says we can stop by on the way back from seeing Rose. How about some chicken soup & gluten free snacks?
9:45 pm on February 21st, 2013
Masquers: I forgot about the key, the mat,and the snacks. We’ll see you tonight. Kat and Sam, can you take leave of your two-leggeds tonight?
Wolfie: I can speak for all of us at Snowhook when I say, you hit the nail on the head with your statement. My mama often says anyone should be so lucky to have a cheering section like the Plunderers! She also says AJ is the best looking and best smelling musher. 🙂
9:46 pm on February 21st, 2013
Luna, the sooner I’m out of this hot water the better. I’ll be waiting for you at the end of our lane.
9:48 pm on February 21st, 2013
Princess, Do you think Aunt MollysMom will be too sick to make us an egg when we get there?
9:57 pm on February 21st, 2013
I wonder if we can blur Auntmollysmom to Wose’s so we don’t have to leave her unattended. Sam, do you know if Yourauntmollysmom knows my blurring rules?
10:13 pm on February 21st, 2013
I vote we leave her unattended. She is very crabby.

Insider! I still need to become an Insider. It makes no sense to have countless nights of not sleeping if I don’t have a certain dot to watch move across a map.
I saw the weather report for the area I’m currently in. With the windchills, there are saying it could be -70. I am tucked inside my dorm style room for the night with the heater on.

Before I really go to bed I have to say that Sammy was really funny tonight when she suggested we leave that grumpy Mollypop’s Mom alone. She made me laugh out loud. Thanks Sammy!
Off to bed now.

Staff (and Sammie) – our Mama says those who are under the weather, and under the quilt get to be as grumpy as they want. She has a sinus infection too, and is thinking of going to see MollyPop’s Mom so they can grump at each other.

Misery loves company. I heard that somewhere.
Hope you both feel better.
T& G,
I have been meaning to tell your Mom that when I bid on the Plunder Pot my mind was on other things and I didn’t really look at it closely. But just the other day I really looked at it and see that its design is that of a quilt with an applique patch for the label. Really wonderful design. Thanks once more for donating it. I love it for many reasons. night all.

Thanks, Staff, for one of our Favorite Songs by Don Mclean and the Beautiful Art of Van Gogh.
We, too, are enjoying Wolfie’s Pomegranate Jelly and thanking his mom every time we eat it. It is a Very Special Treat that will soon be gone. Sob.
Off to bed here also. Until tomorrow then – Bear

Smoochers are doing the last check of fire-put-out equipment. Belle Starr’s sparkly fire extinguisher is really great. Sammie has the hose under control.
Masquers is soothing me with pawflexology , Luna is whispering calming words to me. Belle Starr and I will be waking up the Prof in ten minutes. I’ve been smooched by Kat, the smoochiest Smoocher. Departure time is at 6:30.
After some snuggles when we get home, the Smoochers will be heading over to Molly’sMom place.
WAIT, Kat do not pull the loop on the sparkly fire extinguisher!!!!!!!
