Was there a bit of sniffling when I dropped MPM off at the airport? That would be affirmative. I am already looking forward to both her return and my visit to her neck of the woods.
When I got home, I looked on Flightaware and it seems that her plane will be delayed by 35 minutes. Perhaps she can grab a bit of breakfast. We did pack her a nice lunch for the plane trip so it should go better than her inbound flights although starting with a delayed flight might be a problem since her layover in Minneapolis is brief. Hopefully, some of that delay can be made up with tailwinds.

Yes the asparagus was over harvested by the neighbor. Mr.Staff did not know that over-harvesting late in the season would have a bad effect on the plant. Now he does. He did mention at the time that he never got another asparagus spear out of the garden after she left. I never allowed that to happen when I was guarding the garden. snort. Amateurs! We had 5 prolific clumps two years ago and last year we had 3 barely growing clumps. Grrrrrr. I made him let all the spears grow in hopes that it would restore the plants. We shall see.

Staff, That is too bad. Maybe you could buy a few crowns and replenish your bed. Do you think the neighbor just didn’t know better? We doubt if she knew she was damaging anything. What happens if the stalks are pulled, rather than cut off? Does that damage the roots also?
We remember one year when a friend’s grown daughters told her they would go to the garden and pick beans for her. They pulled every plant out and then brought them up for her to pull the beans off. NEVER let an amateur loose in your garden!

Staff’s garden. There are so many problems. Sigh. I went out the back door this morning and noticed the 2 foot high mound of snow had melted off of the garden area outside the back door. I also noticed that the Turtleman has ONCE AGAIN piled up yard debris on top of the plants that attempt to grow in that shady part of the yard. He did this two years ago and killed a Bleeding Heart plant that had lived there happily for many years. He was warned never to do that again. Hmmmm. Guess those warnings only have a shelf life of one year.

Ah Asparagus — i think I had posted once in the past a long time ago the story of the unfortunate incident of Wookie and Casey in the asparagus patch. Suffice to say that two dogs wrestling in the asparagus patch does not make for long-lived asparagus plants. Oh well.

Wose: I can’t hold a grudge for calling me Wade. Truth be told, I may have seemed like two dogs when MPM and CHobbit visited the kennel. When they arrived, I was first in line for attention. Belle Starr, Luna, Tenzing, and Annabelle also got in line for introductions and scritches. Once my turn was finished, I got back at the end of the line and went through again for more attention. I may have done this more than two times, but I shouldn’t be held accountable for anything more than two as such numbers two mean little to me.

Wose: another reason I can’t be a future musher….on the trail AJ told me to say Haw when we got to the markers in the distance. I knew we were on the home stretch and figured the dogs knew it too so it was a safe bet they would turn. So when the time came, I said Haw and the dogs went Gee. This left me saying Haw, Haw, Haw (I sounded like a crow). The cool part was that we were on the Iditarod trail in Willow–AJ said that the dogs went Gee because they remembered their race trail.
Wyatt: you stuck by my side being petted almost the whole time the dogs were getting hooked up for mushing. You were the perfect height because my hand just rest naturally on your back–plus I couldn’t ignore you when you would come up and then bump against me with your rear wanting to be rubbed.

Masquers, The day has turned sunny here, just in time for the Mets home opener. It is, however, very windy.
Hobbit, I had trouble Hawing and Geeing as well. But the Giant was the passenger on my sled, so the dogs knew who was really in charge.
Wyatt, you are a very clever dog to go to the back of the line for more scritches. Did you get tummies as well? I wonder if you remember when Grizz and I came to your house. Grizz spent a lot of time dog whispering to youse. I think you might have been the dog who bellied up for Grizz when we first got to your house.
This is why Belle Starr is my VBFF. I have to worry about getting into trouble, and once I’m in it, I have to worry how I will get out of it. Batting my lashes doesn’t seem to be as effective for me.

I’m home, I’m home, I’m home! Thanks to the very good tracking done by the RioMas Aviation Corp. It was easy for Sam’s mom to deliver Loulou in time to greet me at the door.
I’m exhausted. That was a very difficult travel day.

Our collars are off to Katdog Masquers and Rio for tracking so much travel this winter and nary a plunderer was lost. Well done!
We are sad to see MPM go and that we never had a great opportunity to dog into her purse for Chapstick and other savory items, but we are glad she is home safe and sound.

Greetings from the presidential suite of the Most Expensive Hotel in Bedford. I now have my own bed. It is a hospice suite with a pull out couch in an attached room I have “contacts” here. We are not quite to the hospice stage yet. But Rick gets anxious when he wakes up alone, so I get the first shift.
We had a pizza party here tonight. Mr decided that he needed pizza from a place 30 minutes from here. Luckily, his sweet sister lives near there so she and her spouseman brought over a couple and the Pepsi that is not available in the hospital. My mom, SIL, BIL, me, Angie all crowded in, and then Niki popped in from Austin. It will be nice to have someone to take a day shift for me.
