Good morning, Rose! Based on Mom’s visit to Atlanta, I’m thinking all those guys stayed up until the wee hours of the morning, and are now catching up on their beauty sleep. Especially Rebecca! Not that she needs beauty sleep — Mom says she’s quite beautiful already — but she hasn’t had much sleep the last few days!

We are hunkered down here in our cool apartment, sipping ice water and staying out of the heat and humidity. Every now and then I’ll stick my nose through the blinds and jerk away so I don’t get sunburned.

WE WANT OUR BREAKFAST! It’s amazing how much noise two little(?) kittens can create when breakfast is overdue. But we were actually just doing Mama a favor by stomping and pasting and kneading and merrrr- OWing. After all- they have to get up and go have breakfast with the gang.

Hi You’all! Back at a computer! Still haven’t uploaded the camera onto the computer downstairs. So Pics will be awhile.
It was wonderful, I tell you, wonderful to meet all those people I’ve never seen before. Bella said she was trying to explain to a person on the plane she was meeting friends she never met before. The person wanted to know if that was safe. snicker!
Rebecca talked over 90 minutes. Not a word was heard except for her and her stories. And dog, does she have stories! Every one gave her clapped and no one through anything. One man stood up and clapped! He had grown up racing a team. He had lived down the street from ADMIRAL PERRY’S widow and she let his family had a team. His mom took on the the dogs to Westminster in the 1940s and won best of breed. He had a picture of his sled that he still has in his garage. Totally cool. Another guy’s son is leading an group for 43 days in the mountain ranges of Alaska this summer.
She was great. Hardships, tears, her puppies, her rescues, all of them talked about.
That’s all I can think right now to write. I didn’t get much sleep but I had a great time. OleyHowlers and MollyPop’s moms are thinking of detouring out of the way a bit and visiting Zoe, Dan and the Pack before they leave!

It was in the 70’s last night and getting warmer sooner this a.m. At least it is not that furnace called Colorado.
Mom has had her bath and she and Dad had scrambled eggs with onions, yellow peppers, chives and cheese on top. And toast. And slices of a fresh peach. Now we are all full and quiet.
We are waiting for pictures. Oley Howlers please put up some more. (I know they are still out at ‘Brunch’ gol darn it all!

Bear: I’m in AC but it’s really too hot to turn the oven on for pies today.

I believe it started out as a 3 layer cake, but something happened. Mac and Franklin will be blurring it over . . . Hold on.

Last night was a magical event, from all appearances. The first of many, I hope!

Hey Wolfie,
Two things with my new kidney. It is showing signs of too much anti-rejection drugs so they lowered my dose. Also it has beginning signs of diabetes so I am adding another poke to my week. But only one. I am now supposed to do a poke 2 hours after a meal, any meal, during the week. (So far I have forgotten this poke, but maybe I will remember today.)
I guess I don’t know if I should worry a lot or not so I have decided to not worry. Worry can’t be good. So you can stop worrying also. I have been a lot better about sneaking sweet snacks since I learned about the diabetes thingy. But, no worries.

I am at the airport after saying good-byes I wasn’t eager to say. If I thought saying farewell to KTPs mom was difficult, it increased with the number of Plunderers. I can express enough how much it meant to me that MollyPop’s mom and the Howlers’ mom made the journey. I am humbled and grateful for the support and efforts made on my behalf by the FourHawks household. The opportunity to meet the Plunderers and the extended Plunderering family was an honor and very special. I will remember it always. Thank you.
Leonard, the Storyteller not the dog honored me with some very special gifts. Each has joined the ranks among my few prized possessions. Among the special gifts is a necklace and earrings that symbolize the sprint of the turtle, one who shoulders everything and carries the stress and challenges on their back. Did he know I had back problems? No. Did he know I had a turtle when I was younger and collected turtles as a youth? No. The necklace is stunning, the message and spirit by which it was given is beyond measure.

Hey everyone. Thank you all for the birthday greetings. And what a birthday it has turned out to be. For those who haven’t heard, a monumental storm hit thr mid eastern region of the US last night, from Indiana to Maryland. In the DC metro area alone, 1.5 million residents are without power, us guys included. Ever reliable PEPCO thinks it could take a week or longer to fully restore power. But thanks to super mom, we are cool as a cucumber at a LaQuinta Inn near Baltimore, where we are booked in for the next four days. She got the reservation this morning at 6:00 am, with assist from the IPaw and cellphone. Very nice place, with great air conditioning (it peaked out at 104 yesterday in DC with today expected to be a much cooler 102), pet friendly and they even have a swimming pool, although I am not allowed in. We lost a major portion of our giant maple tree in the back yard, took out part of our neighbor’s fence, but fortunately no structural damage to any buildings.
Sounds like last night was a great success for all involved. Just terrific! And Kat looked great too.

The OleyHowler and MollyPop’s Mom left about a 90 minutes ago. I then took a nap. .
I also talked to OTAS whose birthday it is today. Riö, those talking ecards you found a wonderful! I started 3 days ago with a frazzled Kat getting catnapped by a Pack of Newfounland Dogs! Then they kept trying to get a message through to the Kat who just thought they were insane. THEN today they were Hoppy around and Burbing for the whole Day and the Kat Got IT!.
She told OTAS Hoppy Burb Day! Which is appropriate since he received at home brewing kit. Snicker . .
Patsy liked Kat. Eleanor liked Kat, but liked OleyHowler’s cookies more.
I think one more night of sleep and I’ll be okay. Of course, those other Plunderers are surviving on 2, 4 or 6 hours a sleep for the past two nights!

Hey everyone- we don’t know where to start. It was just such a great time. Rebecca is truly beautiful – inside and outside. And for a 2 legged – we think she smells just right.
So, Bella was at the hotel on Thursday night – our implusive Gramp decided to redecorate the main bathroom in the house – 4 DAYS BEFORE REBEECA WAS TO ARRIVE!!! After Mama had a cow, Gramp said that he was going to get Rebecca a hotel room so she could have as much privacy and sleep time as she wanted, and not have to share a bed with Corgis or Kats – Huh???
Anyway, on Friday morning, after the radio show and french toast – they took Rebecca back to her hotel so she could rest. Then the Howlers Mom got there around 1:30. And MPM was circling the area, but just couldn’t land. The GPS thingie built into her car thought she was in the Himalayas, or something, and kept sending her all around to everywhere except the hotel.
She did finally find it with some guidance – do NOT let the Wrotten Kats tell you that they had anything to do with it – they didn’t!
Then everyone came to our house and we got petted and tummied to our hearts content. We met Kat – she is an adorable little beauty, and she told us she is going to be a Flower Girl at a Very Important Wedding very soon.
Basil met Kat, and decided that a long nap was called for. We didn’t see him again until breakfast today. But Sage thought Kat was kind of neat. The two of them were nose to nose a number of times, just sniffing and saying hi. But no one ever had a camera ready.
We showed Kat around our fenced in back yard, and Callie even let Kat dig in her special “couch” area on top of the hill.
Then it was time for dinner. Melanie started the dinner with a wonderful toast about the Plunderers and the love and the success of our mission.
Then everyone surprised the heck out of Mama – they all brought birthday cards for her – she had so many cards to open, she didn’t know if she should eat or open, or open and eat or do some and then others. To be honest – we think she was just so overwhelmed to think that everyone had done this for her, she was just a tad emotional.
After dinner, Melanie brought out her remarkable cheesecake, and everyone found just a little more room to have a slice.
Now, the rest is hearsay, because believe it or not, they left us home! Oh sure, Kat got to go, but Corgis were banned. (Where IS that speed dial button to the SPCA)
Anyway, everyone went the VFW. MAma and Rebecca went to do a sound check, and horrors…nothing worked. Nothing. They tried all kinds of switches, and dials and refiguring but nothing. Just as Rebecca decided that she would have to talk REAL LOUD, the sound board decided to cooperate, and the mic went live! Woo hoo!!!
There was a chair and table on stage for Rebecca and there were rows of chairs for the audience. At the back of the room were tables for the donation jars, and information stuff, and an email sign up list and the things for sale. Then Mama put a table dead center in the middle of the double doorway, decorated with a Savidis drop bag, and a BIG donation jar.
People came in starting at about 7, and everything was put on hold for a few minutes while others straggled in. Then the lights went down, and Rebecca was introduced, and she held her audience enthralled for the next hour and a half with stories of Rory and Fargo, and rescuing dogs, and laughing with dogs, and AJ’s bravery and high standards, and her ability to get her own way when it came to all issues dog-related.
People wanted to stay and meet her afterwards, and they made sure to put money in the donation jars. It wasn’t as big a fund raiser as Mama wanted it to be, but there may have been some good connections made for the future.
After they packed everything up, they came back to our house. It had gotten so hot and humid, they decided to just hang out where the air conditioning was, and they laughed and talked more.
At midnight, everyone agreed to call it a night, and they made plans to meet for breakfast. We thought for sure this time we would be allowed to go – but noooooo! Only Kat again! Mama said it was because they had to go all the way to the airport afterwards, but WE think it was a conspiracy.
Breakfast was another laugh and talk fest. Then came the hard part – the saying farewell. Mama had to walk away, cuz she was getting too sad. After Rebecca said her farewells to MPM and OHM, she got in the car and was whisked to the airport.
We understand that security came over because the White Zone is For Loading and Unloading Only = No Parking is Allowed in the White Zone – and Mama and Rebecca simply couldn’t stop hugging to say farewell. They could have grown moss, they stood there for so long. Dad gave Rebecca a hug, and a special blessing too, and they sent her on her way. Mama had to drive very carefully for a while, cuz her eyes were all blurry for some reason.
We have told Mama over and over that it is just a temporary separation. She WILL see Bella again – and MPM and OHM too! And of course, she will see Melanie, and at least we can all keep in touch.
So, now, Mama is already planning how and when and where she can arrange to meet more Plunderers. So look out – Stinky Mama may be appearing at a rest stop near YOU!
And that’s what happened on OUR weekend. How are all of you?

Oh, and I forgot to tell Riö, or maybe I did, YSAS is NOT the director, he came up with the idea, banged heads together, got a friend to collaborate on the script and is the PRODUCER!. . What he’s discovered is that the producer does everything no one else wants to do. snicker. The main characters are YSAS, Hamlet, Ophelia and Rosencrantz or Guildenstern can’t remember which one he was.

Oh, and one more recommendation. On PBS tomorrow night on Mystery, there is a terrific show called Endeavour. It is about a very young Morse when he first joined the Oxford police force. For real Morse cognoscenti, Endeavour was Morse’s first name; only uttered once during the entire series. We already saw it because dad ordered it from Amazon UK earlier. Highly, highly recommended! You will like it a lot, I guarantee.

Macy, we had heard of raising potatoes that way, but have never tried it. I think the article recommended starting with a box or tire, planting the potatoes, and then adding on as the potatoes grow. The idea is that the plant will keep growing upward and the tubers will keep developing throughout the season. You picture was much prettier than what we saw.

Hi Everyone. I am back home! Sasha, Dima, and Meashka were so happy to see me that they don’t even seem to be upset that I am”The Chosen”.
I had so much fun playing with new doggie friends. Tupper and Gilly were great hostesses. Callie showed me where all the best digging spots are. But here’s the thing: those Corgis don’t have any tails.
Mommy took me to Melanie’s house today. They have bears there!!! Real honest-to-goodness bears!!! And those bears liked me! Their names are Patsy and Ellie. We had a great time just hanging out. Mommy says she saw more bears outside. Hmm I don’t believe her.
Now for the two-leggeds. The first one I met was Rebecca, and she gives the best Tummies ever! I rolled all over the floor with her, and she said I left way too much hair in that there room. Well, with all that rubbing and hugging, how was that hair supposed to stay on me, I ask youse.
Next was my Aunt MollysMom. I wanted to go back home with her, but Mommy said I have to wait to be invited. But I know Aunie MM wants me..we are the bestest of friends. Forever.
Next I met Melanie, Amalia, Leonard, and Dad. Now those guys know how to treat a gal, let me tell youse. It was mi casa su casa all the way, Amigo. Mommy and I are already talking about our next trip to the magical Berkshires. Oh yeah…Mommy kept chattering about beautiful scenery the whole time we were in the car, but I have no idea what that was about. I was busy sleeping.
I am told that Bella gave a wonderful talk, and Mommy was laughing and then she was crying. I slept. All I know is that there were more tissues to eat after those tears. Tissues are yummy. Oh, and there were lots of people there, and every one of them came over to pet and kiss Me Me Me,
