Wheeze!!!! The earth started to shake, rattle and roll this morning. At first my Lady suspected it was my belly on account of me wanting my breakfast, but the rumbling got worse. The Giant grabbed my led and half dragged/carried my Lady down the stairs of our swaying homestead. He didn’t carry me, thank you very much. They along with all of us otherwise dogs made it outside safely. Luckily I planned to work from home today because a bridge has gone out from what we’ve heard. We have damage and bumps and bruises, but are safe. The Giant and my Lady are filling up gas cans. Wheeze!

Largest aftershock so far was 5.7. Nearby school had part of a roof collapse. The second floor of my house is much worse than the ground floor. I had already been thinking of trying to buy a ranch house because I am tired of stairs and this might be a deciding factor. However, ranch houses are surprisingly hard to find.

Yikes! Some more quakes on the USGS site. 4.9 in Anchorage and 5.2 in Big Lake. Mom only looks at the ones greater than 2.5 and there have been 38 of them. This is awful!

Beau’s curly tail is furled so tight right now. We aren’t sure if it’s from worry o’er the earthquake or if it’s from the wee kitty he has hanging from each ear. Butch and Sundance may or may not have been trying to butter him up for a favor when the earthquake struck. Each grabbed onto his ears to ride out the quake. We haven’t been able to get them loose, yet.

Alaskan dogs and peeps: Thanks for checking in with us. I’m glad no injuries have been reported. What a mess, though.
We had an earthquake today too – 4.2 magnitude in Fort St. John (250 kilometers south), “very likely” caused by fracking.

I’m with the others who said this month has flown by very quickly!
I hope the next month goes just as fast because I need light! Usually we get more sunshine than many places but so far this year it has been cloudy. I haven’t seen any aurora borealis.

The Snowhook plate HOH made me survived but lots of things around it broke. No easy way to even try and fix. I went off to buy more water as it is going to be turned off but nearby store closed and another out of water. I do have one case of bottled water and I filled a couple of buckets. I was able to fill gas tank. I had 3/4 tank but wanted it full. Car is now parked outside in driveway. I actually have everything I need but not in a dandy emergency kit so I will be doing that in case I have to leave. BBL

Aerial view of the road I posted earlier. Lots of various road damages. The 45-minute drive to Wasilla took 3.5 hours due to damage on the highway which closed part of one lane and created a bottleneck. Hope Snowbella can work from home for a while.

Because most of our food is shipped to us, at any given time there is only 8 days supply of food in the stores in Anchorage. With people emptying shelves in a panic, things are worst for the stores that are open.

I have a decent amount of cat food and some food for the dog…you can ignore for now any requests from Sadie for treaties to be sent to her. lol

We have generators, gas for the generators, a fireplace and several cords of wood, a trailer full of winter clothing and gear, 90 day food supply, etc, but the thing we don’t have is Slim Jims…and power. We are screwed.

Please do not ignore requests for treaties from me. We may have all of the above things I listed, but can I really count on the Giant to take care of me? I saw first paw this morning that he carried my Lady down the stairs of a swaying house, but not me. Bah! I am not Saide. I repeat, I am not Sadie. I’m feeling faint…

So it looks like Snowhook Kennels will be my backup for food and heat if needed. Ninety days of food? I am impressed.
Rio: The US Postal Service closed today. Garbage pick up was cancelled — and they never take a day off. Incoming airline flights cancelled. Yeep.
I will know more in the next day or two. There are people who are working around the clock assessing, inspecting and figuring things out.
Three of six adult cats still in hiding.

On! Our power came on a bit ago. The Giant and my Lady were playing scrabble by candlelight and then eventually headlamp. As soon as it came back on, they dropped their tiles and ran to fill buckets and buckets of water for the pack. Wheeze!

Beau: Our Lady and the Giant found a stray today about 11 miles from the Kennel. They brought the stay home until his person could be found. The person’s caretaker contacted the Giant. Poor guy’s person has Alzheimer’s and was worrit sick about his missing 14.5 year old dog. Sniff. We believe that should get us some bible study points. Please confirm.

  49. Ole Doc
    11:54 pm on November 30th, 2018

We stayed close to the Giant and our Lady as they made their way outside. Wheeze!

This particular dog has been missing for about a week. After he jumped into our truck, people nearby said the dog showed up after the earthquake and was tanning back and forth across the highway. Yeep! He is back home where he belongs although my Lady secretly suspected the Giant resigned himself to having another dog. Heh.
