Friend of the Month Reminder
“Last day of the month already?” says Admin. “What happened to the darlin’ buds of May?”
“So it’s time to remind everyone that today’s the last day of eligibility for June’s Friend of the Month contest,” Spence says. “All you have to do is upload a photo to the Friends of Chet gallery. The random # generator does the rest! If you’re already in the gallery you’re eligible till the end of time.”
“And beyond!”
“Prize is a signed copy of The Dog Who Knew Too Much and the winning Friend of the Month is displayed for the entire month in the special place over on the right where DJ and Spencer are now!”

I had to order some pretzels to try. Good morning.
8:51 am on May 31st, 2012
Hi Steve, and greetings to all!
Where has this month gone! It is a very nice day here in Westchester, and the Yankees won last night! WoooHooo!
Wolfie, I am thinking about your mom, and sending you both healing prayers.
9:00 am on May 31st, 2012
Good morning Steve, Rose and all. Have to go back to late last night and see what happened to Wolfie’s mom.
Off to work for Barb. Into the dragon’s lair! Me, I will just take a nap on this cold dreary day.
9:31 am on May 31st, 2012
I think I’m going to be the FOM this time. I go to Jacqueline’s Dog Salon today so I will be Wonderfluffed and ready for my honor. Go ahead, Admin. let ‘er rip!
9:49 am on May 31st, 2012
Admin: What is “beyond” the end of time? Nietzsche had a different philosophy. He believed in “eternal return” because, as he wrote, there is infinite space, infinite time, and finite matter. (Sorry guys but this is Admin’s fault.)
Good morning Steve and all.
10:14 am on May 31st, 2012
Sammy!…Telling Admin to let er’ rip is asking for trouble!….heh!…Besides we all know its way past due for me being picked as FOM…grunt!
10:15 am on May 31st, 2012
Wolfie, Hopefully your surgery is already over. Less pain, or no pain is the way to go. Kat prayers coming your way.
10:43 am on May 31st, 2012
There are three librarians named Ballard who are excited about the book signing next week at BookExpo. We had been excited about the transit of Venus on Tuesday, but so far the weather report couldn’t be worse.
10:48 am on May 31st, 2012
There is a branch of mathematics that deals with infinity + 1, or any number beyond infinity. Eternity and beyond are the same thing.
10:50 am on May 31st, 2012
The 31st already? May just flew by so fast! That’s the trouble with spring & summer — the months don’t last long enough.
Guys – Soon I’m going to an all day nosework workshop with Mom. Mom has been clicker training a “bark” as signal this week. I’m a reluctant barker except when there’s something going on outside that I need to go out to see. We’ve been practising finding “smells” off and on for a while. Some of my playtime outside needs ‘smell finding’ anyway (when I don’t watch where my toys are thrown, I have to hunt for them in the grass). I think I’ll do well at the workshop.
Mom is mad ’cause the lawnmower won’t work and she has to wait until next week for the people to fix it. The oil is really black so it’s probably her fault that she didn’t take it in for repairs earlier. Ha!
I should win the Friend of the Month contest ’cause Mom would LOVE to get/read the signed copy of the book and my picture would be so pretty on the blog’s page!
10:53 am on May 31st, 2012
Good morning everyone. All paws crossed for:
Wolfie’s Mom getting some relief,
Macy’s Mom getting a call about that job,
Barb getting a serious offer on her house,
Steve getting his pretzels, and
all the dreams of all the Plunderers coming true.
(especially ours about being FOTM)
10:54 am on May 31st, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: My physics professor friend has mentioned infinity +1. I told him that that is superfluous. (I can understand Nietzsche.)
There is a fox squirrel and a red squirrel in my garden fighting over sunflower seeds. (They don’t understand Nietzsche.)
10:56 am on May 31st, 2012
Staff: Don’t you think that the two “thats” in my above post are necessary as well as the one in this sentence?
11:02 am on May 31st, 2012
Good morning, y’all! I was contemplating putting a photo on the Friends of Chet page, because my drawing — as wonderful as it is! — hasn’t done the trick yet. But then I remembered that Mom and all her infinite baseball knowledge already won us a signed copy of TDWKTM! So I guess I’ll wait until the prize is a signed copy of FOC. Unless I should put it on now so it’ll be warmed up by the time FOC is published…pondering here!
Wolfie’s Mom: Our best wishes are coming your way. Hmmm, you said you have to be at the hospital at 6:00, and if it’s almost 11:00 our time that means your time is…dang! Too many numbers for me to figure out. Oh, well. Hope everything is going/did go well for you and that you are/will be totally free of pain! And that the judge throws the book at the perp!!!
11:04 am on May 31st, 2012
Bee – we have been thinking about the posit regarding the word “that” and realize how often we use it when it isn’t necessary. We have been making a conscious effort to limit the usage of the word, and find most of the time it can simply be removed from the sentence without consequence to content.
11:12 am on May 31st, 2012
It’s THAT time of the month again! I don’t fret about being FOTM since the honor has already been mine. Heh. Hoping for one of our own to nab the honor…be it Rio, Tupper or Princess Sam.
B: That is quite necessary.
Our Prayers and Good Thoughts going out to dear Wolfie’s mom this morning. And, when she is finished with the laser treatment, the Quilt is ready.
Terri: Sounds like you have the upcoming class well in paw. Are you training for something special?
Steve: We placed an order for the pretzels yesterday.
Terry: Overcast here too. We too, hope it clears up for the Venus transit on the 4th. It’s these once-in-blue-moon occurrences we always seem to miss because of cloudy skies.
Good Day Everyone!
11:28 am on May 31st, 2012
Tupper! Hey! There you are at the top. Well, that’s a start anyway…..
Kirby: How is work on the laundry room progressing? Dare we ask?
MollysMom: It somehow gives me great comfort to know there is something One Step Beyond.
Hugs coming your way Tenzing. How are you feeling this morning?
The Smoochers will be making a side-trip today to check on Wolfie’s mom.
Hi Rose! See you manana.
11:48 am on May 31st, 2012
If one doesn’t use “that” as a conjunction when needed, one would be guilty of a BANNED ERROR (graded down one full grade). If one doesn’t use “that” as a pronoun and instead keeps repeating the noun, the writing could get cumbersome and boring.
12:05 pm on May 31st, 2012
Hi Masquers, please give Wolfie’s mom my best, and I’ll see you all tomorrow.
12:10 pm on May 31st, 2012
Beautiful, beautiful day! My doc visit went great! I have and have had a normal blood pressure for over a month!
“It’s a beautiful morning, birds keep on singing their own song . .”
Then I saw Dan who tried to get something over on a nurse. He doesn’t do that with Zoe or my sister, just me. sigh.
By the way, he WILL be taking that medication. snicker.
My guys and I had an evening ritual where we would say how much we loved each other. I thought I had gotten them with “to infinity plus one”.
Their answer? “To infinity and back.” Interesting concept. If you figure that time and space are the same thing . . pondering here . . I have a whole bunch of love coming at me at some points in time!
Next up? Acupuncture. 55 minutes to go.
I hope Wölfie’s mom has her iPaw with her, and she can move her head, and she’s feeling better . . .
12:16 pm on May 31st, 2012
Are time and space the same thing? Interesting.
12:19 pm on May 31st, 2012
Hello all. Sending positive thoughts for Wolfie’s mom.
Melanie, that is very sweet. Our mom always tells us she loves us best of all. The problem is that she tells each of us the same thing. How can that be?
12:39 pm on May 31st, 2012
O.Howlers: Mama Bear told each of us we were Very Special and were Loved 2 Infinity & Beyond.
12:45 pm on May 31st, 2012
Steve, Thanks for supporting Snowhook.
I hope Wolfie’s mom is able to check in with us and let us know how she is doing.
Rio, I am aware the Rockies have won 3 in a row, but the Astro’s pitcher tonight is 5-1 and Guthrie is pitching for the Rockies.
12:50 pm on May 31st, 2012
Time is the fourth dimension. The space-time continuum is three physical dimensions and time.
1:05 pm on May 31st, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: Yikes!! What are the three physical dimensions?
1:08 pm on May 31st, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom & B: This is a very interesting conversation.
1:16 pm on May 31st, 2012
The three physical dimensions are basically length, width, and depth, also called left-right, up-down, and forward-backward.
1:20 pm on May 31st, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: Thank you. Here’s a paragraph from Wikipedia’s article on the space-time continuum:
“In non-relativistic classical mechanics, the use of Euclidean space instead of spacetime is appropriate, as time is treated as universal and constant, being independent of the state of motion of an observer. In relativistic contexts, time cannot be separated from the three dimensions of space, because the observed rate at which time passes for an object depends on the object’s velocity relative to the observer and also on the strength of gravitational fields, which can slow the passage of time.”
Good grief! Gravity can slow the passage of time? This is “beyond” me. (There’s a reason I went into the field of English rather than physics!)
1:20 pm on May 31st, 2012
Bear, Mom specifically tells each of us “I love you more than everybody. You’re my favorite in the whole wide world.” We think she is fickle.
1:28 pm on May 31st, 2012
All that stuff that we do not understand is making it so that our head is about to explode, and all that.
Healing wishes to Wolfie’s mom. This better make her better.
1:37 pm on May 31st, 2012
Melanie – I enjoyed your web-site.
1:42 pm on May 31st, 2012
Sorry Macy. I was just trying to point out that to say something is “beyond” the end of time is a contradiction in terms. Now I’m not so sure. Perhaps it’s all relative. (I’m definitely getting a headache.)
1:56 pm on May 31st, 2012
Masquers: Put it this way — Mom wrote to her boss today and asked if she could go back to work instead of continuing her “vacation”! Actually, today she hasn’t done much laundry room stuff, beyond helping Dad carry some of the old-floor stuff to the trash place. Instead she went to the store to replenish our groceries, because they’ve been reduced to fast-fooding every meal lately. So now she’s going to eat lunch, then it’s back to work!
Bee et al: The only timespace continuum I know is meal time and the space where my bowl sits!!!
2:15 pm on May 31st, 2012
B. – Yes, time has finally been proven to slow when traveling at high speed. Einstein said this way back but there was no way to prove it. An atomic clock was taken on one of our space missions and it came back a fraction behind the atomic clock on Earth. That also means our astronauts are a bit younger than if they hadn’t gone into space.
When a person can finally go on a 100-year space voyage at high speed he will come back only slightly older to find everyone he knew has died.
2:38 pm on May 31st, 2012
Fellow Sibers, Mom says love has no limits. You mom is always speaking the truth no matter which one of you she is calling her favorite.
2:46 pm on May 31st, 2012
Mollypop’s Mom: I love it! (Even though it sounds like science fiction to me.)
2:47 pm on May 31st, 2012
Huh??
2:48 pm on May 31st, 2012
What?
2:49 pm on May 31st, 2012
Physics was never Mom’s favorite!
Speedy recovery to Wolfie’s mom!
2:53 pm on May 31st, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom: Length, depth, width – like a Universal package.
B: What was once Science Fiction is now Science Fact
Some have not Traveled through Time – thus lack a certain perspective.
2:59 pm on May 31st, 2012
And B., ha ha, Dean Koontz has a book I read years ago using the science fiction aspect of this, just like you said. I don’t remember all the details, but the good guys had to fix something that went awry in the space-time continuum. They went down an elevator and when the door opened, they were in the correct three physical dimensions, but the time was off, and a different world was in that space.
3:04 pm on May 31st, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom: We love Dean Koontz – Do you happen to remember the name of the book, or when it was written?
3:05 pm on May 31st, 2012
I always thought that it would be fun to travel back in time just as an observer.
3:17 pm on May 31st, 2012
Bear: “Universal package”–good simile.
3:19 pm on May 31st, 2012
BearSpiritDog would be a a dog in four dimensions. He had left-right, up-down, back-front and now lives in time!
And MollyPop’s mom is right. The space travelers would be still be young, but everyone they knew would be dead. Got to get that FTL travel going!!
Also if you figure there are physical universes that are right next to ours but we don’t interact with them, you can get yourself a whole bunch a pondering going on! snicker
Some people have postulated that when a choice is made a splinter universe is created where the other choice not taken exists. I find that fascinating. That means something really old in our universe is around in countless other universes.
So the old Three Town Pound which is in the hills up beyond our place where the trees are over 300 years old would exist in more universes than I do. I wonder if that gives them more “physicality”?
Steve, glad you like the web site. I have not done anything to it since Dan has gotten very sick. Someday . . .
3:20 pm on May 31st, 2012
Koontz has a number of books like that . . Need to remember though and since I’ve had a lot to do today. Thinking might have to wait.
3:28 pm on May 31st, 2012
Bear – The Dean Koontz book is Seize the Night.
3:35 pm on May 31st, 2012
Melanie: If the 300-year-old trees existed in more universes that you do, they would have to have more physicality it seems to me.
By the way, “infinity” is derived from the Latin “infinitas” meaning no boundry, from the Greek “aperia” meaning endless. It refers to space, time or quantity. “Eternity” is derived from the Latin “aeternitas” and refers to time. However, if space and time are the same thing…….I feel another headache coming on.
3:35 pm on May 31st, 2012
Thank you, B.
In addition to his Blurring expertise Wolfie has mentioned also doing some experimentation with Time Travel.
3:41 pm on May 31st, 2012
Melanie: Parallel Universes – Another fascinating topic!
Thank you for the title, MollyPop’s Mom. It sounds very familiar…like it might be part of a a continuing 2 part story?
3:48 pm on May 31st, 2012
B…Just for you, you decide.
My physics professor friend has mentioned infinity +1. I told him it is superfluous.
Don’t you think the two “thats” in my above post are necessary as well as the one in this sentence?
3:55 pm on May 31st, 2012
Bear – The Dean Koontz book before Seize the Night is far better. Fear Nothing is the first book in the Christopher Snow series. I had it on (gasp) cassette tape and it was the reader who made the book, at least to me, one of my favorites. Well, and the beer-drinking dog Orson also. That book was a rare delight.
4:00 pm on May 31st, 2012
“In relativistic contexts, time cannot be separated from the three dimensions of space, because the observed rate at which time passes for an object depends on the object’s velocity relative to the observer”
I wonder if this is why my car always seems to speed up when I approach buildings? Out here in North Dakota there is a lot of infinity. Nothing against which to measure my speed. But when I get close to town (buildings) it feels like my car is moving faster, even though I am on cruise control and am not speeding up.
4:20 pm on May 31st, 2012
Staff: Taking the “thats” out makes both of your sentences run-ons: two sentences run on together without proper punctuation (a semi-colon or period) or sentence combining with a conjunction.
[I told him. It is superfluous.]
[Do you not think? The two “thats” in my above sentence are necessary.]
4:23 pm on May 31st, 2012
In North Dakota there is a lot of infinity. I love it!!
4:48 pm on May 31st, 2012
Staff: Contrary to your experience, there was a book written in the 60’s (?) stating objects by the side of the road, such as buildings, tend to cause the driver of a vehicle to slow down when passing them. This great book was called The Good Driver Book. She often remembers the good advice contained therein and wishes she could find another copy.
4:58 pm on May 31st, 2012
Another interesting observation was drivers slowing down while passing the scene of an accident…even though the space had been cleared of any visual signs of it. It is as if some psychic debris remains after the fact.
5:00 pm on May 31st, 2012
I am back. Holy pepperoni, was I in a lot of pain immediately following the the procedure. They gave me two percosets and a prescription for 30 more. I’ll be sore for a few weeks but then I should be felling tip for a year or so.
Thank you everyone for your good wishes. The Smoochers were wonderful and they enjoyed meeting all the Kats.
BBL.
5:06 pm on May 31st, 2012
B.Stover, A headache was not what I wanted to give you. snicer
And yes, I like those two “thats”.
To add to the mix (sort of like Staff’s cruise control speed up that didn’t really happen) I went on a canoe trip for 4 days and three nights. It was gorgeous. This was not a “rush the rapids” canoe trip. We meandered through a southern river and estuaries.
The best sight was hundreds of egrets taking off as we approached during the gloaming.
But the reason for that tale (snicker)? When we got to the pick up point and started to drive home all of us started screaming that the driver was going way too fast. Slow down! Yikes! He was going 25 miles an hour!
That’s how fast we went on the highway all the way back home.
5:14 pm on May 31st, 2012
Melanie: Snickering here…I can just see the car-full of screaming people.
5:31 pm on May 31st, 2012
Wolfie, Thanks for checking in with us. Your mom needs to rest now. In a few weeks she should be feeling much better. Good news!
5:32 pm on May 31st, 2012
Wolfie: Here is hoping your mom will be doing cartwheels in no time. If she does so with the aid of those pain pills, it is a safe bet that the cartwheels won’t be in a straight line.
5:33 pm on May 31st, 2012
Bear: Remembering Rio’s advice about the necessary use of the word “just”…perhaps it could have been omitted?
Wolfie: Those magic pills the doc gave your mom should ease the pain and give her some much needed rest. As the Smoochers don’t have to be at Rose’s until tomorrow morning, we’ll hang around for a bit to make sure she is settled comfortably.
6:00 pm on May 31st, 2012
Wolfie, Happy that your mom made it thru and has some painkillers to help for a few days.
Have been busy here at work so by the time I got a chance to read the blog, I see that I missed a lot of heavy stuff! All a bit much for my tired brain.
Rose, wishing you the best with the lightning bolts in the morning.
6:20 pm on May 31st, 2012
DAWSON!!
I tried to email you using the SDD you gave us yesterday, but, alas, my internet (or some computer in authority) said it was invalid.
Just wanted to let you know I received both packages today. We love the key chains. Thank you for the magazine, also. I will study it throughly because I may have to head to the Far North once again. As you know, Natasha thinks 3 wins by the Rockies is going to get them to the World Series. There is no reasoning with that girl.
Thanks Again!
Siber-H
6:47 pm on May 31st, 2012
Likewise, Dawson my package arrived today also. I am looking forward to a dog bone baked in that niffy pan.
7:09 pm on May 31st, 2012
Wolfie: I am so happy to hear your mom is home and doing well. The Smoochers are the best medicine.
7:11 pm on May 31st, 2012
B&M, thanks for the good wishes. With all the lightning bolts I’ve received, I probably glow in the dark!
7:14 pm on May 31st, 2012
Methinks if Wölfie’s Mom takes the pills she won’t really have to do cartwheels, she can just think she did them.
Feel better!
7:18 pm on May 31st, 2012
Packages!…I was awestruck hearing that Dawson’s packages had arrived already…snort!…Then I remembered she is in the US right now…heh!heh!…My friend has not mailed out any packages yet…sniff!….She is always slow when it comes to doing that sort of thing…grunt!…One more will be packaged up tonight and then Saturday she says she will get them to the post office….wheeze!
7:23 pm on May 31st, 2012
Rio, Tell your friend not to worry about being a bit slow. She works at the busy, busy, place.
7:26 pm on May 31st, 2012
Busy!…Someone is very busy indeed…sniff!…She says it’s the busy-season at the busy-place so she is really busy…wheeze!
7:47 pm on May 31st, 2012
I received 4 Homestead tomato plants today! The great JonnyG had some given to him by some one that raised them and then passed what he didn’t use on to me.
So they are 18 inches tall right now. That is taller than my tomato plants from last year after the entire season of growth. Maybe there will be a tomato in our future.
I sure hope I sleep tonight. Four days of not sleeping is getting very old.
Oh, talked to OTAS tonight. He and GLAD are very happy that they just get to “hang” around the house and do “Housey” things. snicker
Work is going well for both of them. He is now booked for the month of June. A lot of return clients! She is working her patootie off at her classes and getting done some commission work.
8:11 pm on May 31st, 2012
Am feeling almost human again!
In our family, we have an evening tradition called ‘Best Moment of the Day.”
Especially when traveling. It is a way of focusing on the positive and making an effort to remember the good times.

Wölfie . . . Best Moment of the Day?
Falling into bed and going to sleep!

Best Moment of the Day: Everyone home safe.
8:50 pm on May 31st, 2012
SiberH, thank you. Before they put me to sleep, the last thing I think of are The Plunderers. Then, when I get home I am under the wonderful care of the Smoochers.
I will take a quick peek at the blog tomorrow morning before I go to the hospital.
Good night all.

CarGo hit a 3 run homer. Four home runs in two days!
8:57 pm on May 31st, 2012
Wow!…We just came in from our walks and I got to see Cargo hit another home run!….Wooooo!….He’s smokin’ hot tonight too it looks like….wheeze!gasp!…Is Tulo in the game or is he out with an injury?….wuffle!
9:01 pm on May 31st, 2012
Rose: Please let us know when you get back home tomorrow and take care.
9:03 pm on May 31st, 2012
Wolfie: I’m glad everything went well.
9:03 pm on May 31st, 2012
Tulo!…Oh no! He’s out for 15 days or more…grunt!…He is going to hate!hate!hate! that…sniff!…Just when he and Cargo were both getting smokin’ hot…wheeze! ….Is this the 1st Inning?…sniff!…We thought we missed about an hour of the game, but the scoreboard says 1st Inning…heh!heh!…That can’t be right….
9:07 pm on May 31st, 2012
My best moment of the day was talking on the phone in my office, my back tithe door and feeling a snout push at my elbow. There stood Tenzing. He and AJ came into town today to do the food shopping for a week long camp that AJ is doing. Tenz can’t be left alone and I’m attending a function that will last until late tonight. AJ is taking Tenzing with him to camp for the night and will bring him home to me tomorrow night. Tenz will sleep in a tent tonight and hot dogs. They came by for a nose pat and a good bye kiss. Lock the doors!
9:08 pm on May 31st, 2012
It is the top of the second inning.
Oh man, We are all going to miss Tulo. sob, sob, sob
9:11 pm on May 31st, 2012
Rebecca!…How late will you be up tonight?…sniff!… Now I will have to worry about you going home to an empty house…wuffle!…Do what the Giant tells you!….
9:14 pm on May 31st, 2012
Signing off for the night.
SnowBella: You said it.
Lock the doors!..Bear
9:16 pm on May 31st, 2012
Rio: I will get home long after you go to sleep in your soft, warm bed with your baseball toys, but don’t you worry about me. I will lock the doors.
9:19 pm on May 31st, 2012
Rebecca!…Have you ever seen a flower called “Fox Gloves”?…snort!…Neither have I…grunt!…Someone here is trying to make them during the commercials…heh!
9:26 pm on May 31st, 2012
Rio: I looked up Fox Gloves on the Internet. What a beautiful flower. Do you think your friend could be persuaded to post a picture of her quilled fox gloves? I would love to see them.
9:31 pm on May 31st, 2012
Real!…She says now that you’ve seen the real thing her stuff won’t look good at all…heh!…I know they have been a struggle because I’ve heard her cuss way more than she usually does when she is trying to learn some new technique…chorkel!
9:36 pm on May 31st, 2012
Now that I’ve seen the real thing, I must see the quilled thing. Rio, do me a favor. You see your friend’s ankles? Grab one—right or left, it doesn’t matter which one— and hold on until she realizes that she does beautiful work.
9:38 pm on May 31st, 2012
Quilled!….heh!snort!heh!…Good one Rebecca…snorkel!…The Quilled Thing…heh!sneeze!

Hey! I look like Wolfie. My avatars have been confused all week. There was a short time that I thought Professor Stover was telling Tenz that she had his back when it comes to getting your temperature taken.
9:45 pm on May 31st, 2012
Hey everyone! We’ve been busy supervising the lawnmowing all evening. And keeping out of the way of the tractors.
B&M, NPR had a segment on pasture-raised, non-antibiotic meats, and Chipotle. We think our kind of eating is mainstream now, from the sound of it.
Wolfie, so glad your mom is doing well. Here’s hoping her pain goes away.
Rose, we will be with you in spirit tomorrow.
Regarding time travel and parallel universes, have youse guys read The Talisman, by Stephen King and Peter Straub? The main character “flips” territories to get out of jams. We loved that book.

Found the following on the internet regarding the origin of the name foxglove, which is also the source of the heart medication digitalis and is quite dangerous to the nation within and other non-two-legged creatures, although the flowers are quite beautiful and somewhat dramatic (we have some in the small garden on the side of our house).
Good night all and go Rockies. Did you realize Cargo hit four home runs in four consecutive at bats (the last three last night and the first today) — not sure if that has ever happened before.

There have been many suggestions for the derivation of the name “foxglove”. According to the 19th century book, English Botany, Or, Coloured Figures of British Plants:
Dr. Prior, whose authority is great in the origin of popular names, says “It seems probably that the name was in the first place, foxes’ glew, or music, in reference to the favourite instrument of an earlier time, a ring of bells hung on an arched support, the tintinnabulum”… we cannot quite agree with Dr. Prior for it seems quite probable that the shape of the flowers suggested the idea of a glove, and that associated with the name of the botanist Fuchs, who first gave it a botanical name, may have been easily corrupted into foxglove. It happens, moreover, the name foxglove is a very ancient one and exists in a list of plants as old as the time of Edward III. The “folks” of our ancestors were the fairies and nothing is more likely than that the pretty coloured bells of the plant would be designated “folksgloves,” afterwards, “foxglove.” In Wales it is declared to be a favourite lurking-place of the fairies, who are said to occasion a snapping sound when children, holding one end of the digitalis bell, suddenly strike the other on the hand to hear the clap of fairy thunder, with which the indignant fairy makes her escape from her injured retreat. In south of Scotland it is called “bloody fingers” more northward, “deadman’s bells” whilst in Wales it is known as “fairy-folks-fingers” or “lambs-tongue-leaves”.

Mr.Staff says Baseball tonight said there were about 4 or 5 other people who have done that, but this is the first time for the Rockies. Sounds like a very exclusive club.
Night all.

Rose: good morning. Did I ever tell you the joke where the Dan, a newf and a pig walk into the can? Oh, you already heard that one?
3:41 am on June 1st, 2012
Pug, not pig. Gah! It totally changes the punch line. Either way, Rose I hope it made you smile a little.
6:38 am on June 1st, 2012
Hey, Rebecca, you did put a smile on my face and crinkles in the corner of my eyes! I hope you had a good time at your event last night. I hope the hot wings didn’t make too much of a mess in your tiny purse. Strong prayers for Tenz. Hope he is tip-top soon.
The Smoochers arrived just in time this morning! I was having a bad dream about the lightning bolts, and woke up very upset, disoriented, and afraid. Luna whispered some reassuring mom words in my ear, Masquers relieved my tension with his gentle paw massage, and BelleStar gave me many husky kisses. She was also very intrigued by the pictures on the June page of the Snowhook calendar.
I want to thank youse guys for all your thoughts and prayers. T&G, I especially want to thank the Royal Mum and Dad for keeping me in their prayers.
SiberH and Rio, hey the Rockies seem to be kicking some butt lately! As of Wednesday, they had gained two games in the standings. Good for them!
