Macy’s Mom, count me as one of the unbelievers or disbelievers. I don’t believe in coincidences and I can’t tell what’s going on there but I’d be careful if I were you. I’d even question how the tire went flat in the first place.

MPM, That was exactly my thought. I was wondering if he flattened the tire and then offered to “help”. My “gut instinct” is still saying that he has an agenda, whether his wife knew Rick or not.
I strongly believe that he has some sort of material goal. All kinds of flashing red lights going off.

OK, I have to say one more thing because I am worried about Mary Lou, and I hope she doesn’t get mad at us.
I think Mary Lou is a very sweet, kind hearted and trusting person who sees the good in people. She is also very vulnerable right now. Unfortunately, this could make her an easy target for a con artist.
Just because these people go to church, and just because the wife worked with Rick, does NOT necessarily make them honest people. After other’s comments, I don’t think I am being paranoid.

Well, as always, there’s lots going on here. But have you noticed that it is always the little stuff that pushes us over the edge? I went to Safeway yesterday with a list of free items that I was eligible to receive with their rewards program. (Coffee, salad dressing, etc.) After I checked out, I noticed that I was charged for the ‘free’ laundry detergent. The checker told me that the offer had expired, which it had not. She told me to come back later. Then she told me that they were out of the free items, but she could write me a rain check. Just about then, my phone died, and there went my list. She couldn’t give me a rain check without the specific details. Sorry. So the manager was called, and she told me that I could log into their computer to get the list. In the meantime, the line got longer and longer, and customers are getting frustrated. I am getting frustrated. The checkers are getting frustrated. They finally decided to write the rain check nut then they made the fatal error of turning their back on me, exchange glances, and laugh.
All this over a lousy $11.99 bottle of laundry soap.
This is a store that I used to spend a lot of money in.

Wolfie, our mom knows how you feel. Last week for the holiday grill-out, mom found baked beans on the shelf for 3 for $5. That was all she had & total was $8.50. Their responds was,”Well it scanned that way”. I told them to keep them if they couldn’t update their scanner. Manager called, line thing, you know the story.

We have a quick grocery store story, then out to do some yard work. Barb saw a sign in front of the mushroom compost bags at her grocery store. It said NuLife Compost and was marked $1.99. She went in and got in the line and ordered 8 bags. It rang up $2.99, on sale from $3.99. Barb said the sign was for $1.99. The clerk called the manager, they sent a kid out to check and he verified that it said $1.99, so she got it for that price. When they loaded the bags for her she saw that the sign was in the wrong place, and it was not supposed to be $1.99. Now, 2 weeks later, the wrong sign is still there.

Oh, Nana, anything buy pancreas. You let me hear as soon as you know anything. Pancreas can be very dangerous even if not “C”. Constant positive energy in your direction.
As to how the tire got flat. I had been to the tire store a couple of weeks ago because my tire light was on. I knew that I had a little nail in a front tire, but they told me that I had a screw in the rear right tire. This is the one that went flat. My light had been on for at least two days and I ignored it so it was a good thing that the tire didn’t go flying off at 70 miles an hour.
And yes, I do tend to be too trusting. Anybody who says a kind word to me is my hero.

Dear Bear, Pawrayers going out to you and #2 son. there is noting as scary as having to wait and see what is causing an illness. Right now a lot of us here on the blog have ‘issues’. It sure is nice to have our blog friends at our backs. Thanks for all the caring and prayers for everyone.
Speaking of caring. Today I got a call from Gail at the postoffice. The post office in Clifford is only open from 9 to 10:30 on Saturdays and she wanted to let me know that there was a package for me and it was too large to fit in our PO Box. (It really is wonderful to have a little local post office even if the hours are lousy)
So I went in and picked up a box from Wose and Grizz. It was marked all over with fragile fragile fragile. Inside was a Singer Model 20! The motel 20 is a tiny handcrank Singer ‘toy’ machine that was made about 60 years ago. It is sooooo cute! I will take a before picture for youse all. I have to get out the Q-tips and the oil and shine her up a bit but she moves nicely! Thanks Wosen’Grizz! You guys are the best! I feel really cheerful now…;-D

Wolfie’s Mom and HOH on the subject of little (and not so litle things–Today my HOA holds its semi-annual mass garage sale, which on a couple of occasiona in the past has allowed me the interesting experience of coming home from an early dog outing to find some bozo BLOCKING MY DRIVEWAY. this time I had actually considered asking the local police to come and patrol, but decided not to. Coming back from this morning’s outing I was initially heartened to see very little traffic on the approach and that some people had simply set stuff out with a “FREE” label. Then I turned my corner and found–surprise–someone’s Toyota blocking my driveway.
I approach one of only two houses actually trying to sell stuff. At the first house ME: Does anyone here drive the Toyota that’s blocking my driveway? (Murmured “No”s and shakes of the head.
Second house ME (to nice neighbor): Could you ask your clientele if any of them drives the Toyota that is blocking my driveway?
MINDLESS OAF (raising hand): It’s me, the idiot! (Chuckles and turns back to his “shopping”)
I’m sure you know what happened next, and the car got moved.

Big happenings today in my little town of Raymond! It is the 100th anniversary of our general store. It it’s heyday, it was the last train stop before Yosemite. All the neighboring towns are approx 20 miles away, which is a day’s stagecoach ride away.

We give Grizz a 9.5 for his cannonball into the vat of beer. He scored high on degree of difficulty, but we reserved the .5 because we thought the splash could have been bigger. Not bad for a first time.

Happy Birthday Teddy and Zeta. I spent the whole birthday bash looking for Kat and Zeus. It seems that someone gave them some of that shine and, well…neither of them can handle their booze. Then Zeus did his famous jig for food, and he OD’d on wings (sorry, Rio). I slept on the couch, and they are both finally beginning to stir. They look terrible and Kat is crying about her head hurting. Sheesh! Kids today!
