Friend of the Month Reminder

“Last day of the month,” says Spence.

“And Halloween, and the Red Sox won,” says Admin.

“So therefore – time for the Friend of the Month reminder.”

“Check the right of the screen. See Cruizer? He’s Chet’s October Friend of the Month. His human companion sent in a photo to the Friends of Chet gallery, just as Chabui did today. Great pic, by the way. The random number generator – “

“East German Army surplus, circa 1956 – “

” – did the rest. Winner stays over there for the month and the winner’s human companion gets a signed and paw-printed – “

“And illustrated by medieval monks in a scriptorium– “

” – copy of the latest Chet and Bernie novel, in this case The Sound and the Furry.”

“This could be you! Just send in a photo!”

*All 100% true, except for the medieval part.

    Greetings!

Congratulations to the Red Sox! Maybe now those guys will clean up the Grizzly Adams look!

HRH, B, Today’s Google Doodle is animated!

Hoping all those who are under the quilt are getting better.

    Good morning all!

Maybe this month the FOM will be a Plunderer!

Lots of rain here, which may cut down on our little ghosts and goblins tonight. Barb still has to make a run to Wally World to pick up some treats.

I’m wondering how the monks would have illustrated “Sound.” They used a lot of gold leaf.

    Happy Halloween all.

The Google Doodle is really funny. (Thanks Rose.) When you click on various combinations of objects around the witch, different animated scenes come up. You can use your mouse to move the objects. (I cut down the spiders. Heh!)

So the Red Sox won the World Series. Congratulations. (It’s over. Sigh…of…relief.)

It is disconcerting that I am older than the Random Number Generator . .

Good morning All, I will be going only 4.5 miles to my bank’s full service ATM.
    Hurrah!

Other than that? Carve a pumpkin and put books in a ‘new to me’ bookcase.

So long Cruizer. I’ve enjoyed looking at your picture all month but now time to move over for another friend, maybe a Canadian.

    Happy birthday, Daddy Dawg!

Me too. I’m older than that antique machine.

Attention! Nana is indeed in the rehab facility. From Scott:

I am going to post some fuzzy pictures from the quilt show. I hadn’t posted them because the friend who took them isn’t good at focus, but I guess Melanie will overlook that. The first one was a Quilt Club challenge. We each got a crayon and had to make a quilt using 75% fabrics of the crayon color or hues or tints of the color. (Darker or lighter versions of the same color) We did not get to use the color the crayon colors, but had to use the color of the wax part of the crayon…sigh.
My color was red violet. Red violet colors a lovely pinky purple but the wax part is a sort of reddish brown pukey color. sniff.
But I did it anyway and was happy with the result. I am not a big fan of boring browns and I prefer my reds scarlet or cherry.

That quilt was between two windows so I had some issues with reflected light.

    This one is just fuzzy.

This is me with the loverly Plunder Quilt. It got an honorary award from a citizen of the area as her favorite quilt in the show.

She described herself as a leukemia survivor, animal lover and 5th grade student at Larimore ND middle school…!

You can see my attempt at wearing a dressy scarf. I was trying to do the scarf tie that someone (Melanie?) posted on the blog that day.

Dawson, will pass along your words to the Daddy Dawg when he comes home from his walk. Melanie, mom, too, is older than the dreaded randon number generator, but on the bright side…she doesn’t have to work. (heh, heh, heh) It feels good to have the HOH “home” with all ya’ll again.

Blush…thanks guys. As for melting that all happened last year before I figured out I was lactose intolerant. My body took a long time to catch up with the loss. I have been stable at this weight since the middle of the summer. I am working at not losing any more but it is hard when you can’t put too mamy milk products in your tummy.

And it is hard to remember to have a lactaid pill every single time you eat. Every time! Do not make any exceptions. It is amazing how much food has lactose in it.

  43. Melanie

I was trying to light the candle, hence the flashlight.

At least we were till my friend found an email from a realtor who wanted yet 3 more papers signed and delivered for the closing of a house in Iowa..grump!…It has already closed. Keys have been handed over, people have moved into the house. What the hell!?…snuff!

Dawson, no offence, we love you, but mom would not have wanted to go trick or treating at your house….granola bars?

Dawson!….I do not know if there is much room under the Quilt these days..sniffle!…So many sick right now. But maybe you can add an extension onto the Quilt with one of those Staff has made for you…grunt!…Or else your feet will be out in the cold tonight. I sure wish some of the sicko’s would recover to make room for some other new sickos…wheeze!

I am experiencing my first real trick or treat Halloween in 30 years and it has been lovely. The costumes are nice and the kids seem both excited and polite. I wasn’t sure I’d get many since my exterior lighting is dark and currently the small front yard is filled with massive, HUGE rocks for a retaining wall project. The house has a hidden doorbell so I installed a lighted one so they can at least see where it is. Probably I have another hour to go…

SiberH: Me neither. That is probably why I got no trick or treaters. Why oh why did I not buy some good old bad for me chocolate? Health food. Bah!

Dawson, Hope you feel better tomorrow.

The baseball season has ended. The Long Dark begins. sob, sob, sob. It is fitting it should begin on Halloween.

I am going outside for last call now. Skunk season also seems to be at an end…boring

    Night All

Funny thing about the Quilt—it is as big and as warm as the needer needs it to be.

Dawson: I know the feeling of losing at strip poker at you hand if I’m not mistaken. I’ve been parading around in my The-Giant-painted-something-green-and-I-couldn’t-resist-taking-a-nap-on-the-wet-paint costume all day. Have I mentioned I make a great pillow?

The rain came down in buckets so no trick or treaters here. Gramp and the Storyteller are grinning cuz they bought the kind of candy THEY like, so now they just have to eat the remains. Funny – THOSE leftovers they like. hrumpf

Sleep tight Nana and Dawson and Melanie and Dima and Tenzing and all who are pulling up a corner of the quilt.

    G’night all

Yeesh!….Her mother had to come down here and interrupt our “quiet-watching-tv slash posting-on-the-blog-time” me and my friend have together…sniff!…Now it is ALMOST time for me to go up to my warm soft bed – but not quite yet…grunt!

Score!…We had NO trick or treaters at all tonight!…heh!heh!…Plan well executed…snort!…My friend says this is a favorite saying of her new hot-shot boss. “Plan well executed.” Oh and he says “Sooo therefore….” quite often during the day when he is training the other new girl…heh!heh!…My friend keeps thinking the ‘so therefores’ are better left up to Bernie,…but she keeps quiet about this at the busy-place…heh!snort!cough!

All done. Candy is gone. Probably ran out too soon but that is the way it goes. There were a couple of piggies but 98% were just happy kids liking getting one or two pieces of candy. Lights are off and I am in my bedroom hunkered down with Sadie.

We had over 100 treaters, so all that is left here is the tootsie fool pops that mom found in the back of the pantry left over from dog knows when. Unless you count the half bag of Paydays that she ‘”forgot” to put in the candy bowl. Then when she started to get ready for bed, she discovered that there is no water. In the entire ‘hood. She is really glad that the giant work lights are several houses down and not right out front. Our public servants are neck deep in street working on the problem. AND our bowl was dry. Luckily there was some ice to melt. Five thirsty Perro es no bueno.

High and dry in Texas, this is Macy Minpin reporting. No film at 11.

Zombie Sharon here. Halloween may be over but the rain is coming down still and what do my sleep deprived ears hear at 2:50 a.m.? Honking, er, barking in the back yard 🙁 Out I go, followed by the rest of the herd to bring the “baby” in. Puppy potty stops all around, reminders that honking at night isn’t good, playing “the towel is our friend” and lastly, PUTTING IN THE DOG DOOR COVER! They are all snoring now, Darah soggily curled around my feet, ah! Newfie aroma therapy. Hopefully back to sleep, perchance to dream. Nighty night, again.
