Friend of the Month Reminder

“Oh em gee,” Spence says.

“Huh?” says Admin.

“Last day of the month! Almost forgot!”

“You mean it’s already time for the July Friend of the Month reminder?  Check the right of the screen. See Beppe? He’s Chet’s June Friend of the Month. And just below him, by the way, are two friends who rotate through every time the screen is refreshed. But that’s a side issue. And speaking of sides, I’m really looking forward to your grilled corn on the cob tonight.”

“But the point is Beppe’s human companion sent in a photo to the Friends of Chet gallery. The random number generator – “

“East German Army surplus, circa 1956 – “

” – does the rest. Winner stays over there for the month and the winner’s human companion gets a signed and paw-printed – “

“And gilded – “

” – copy of the latest Chet and Bernie novel, in this case A Fistful of Collars.”

“This could be you! Just send in a photo!”

*All 100% true, except for the gilded part.

Gooood morning, everyone! Phewww! Hasn’t been that busy here with the mother dog, heck no. Been to the IPaw store 3 times in 2 days or would have said’ “Hey” more. After third visit, they replaced the NEW IPaw, so have paws crossed this one is ok. The Daddy Dawg will go back to the Volunteer State on Tuesday.

Hope everyone has either a sunny or a scintillating Sunday (depends on what you need).

Ah, grilled corn on th cob.Yum!

Sammy, your picture is up top. Maybe in preparation for the random number generator.

OTAS, The most of the best on your birthday!,

Tomorrow, Grizz and I are going to see the 3D version of a Hitchcock classic “Dial M for Murder” on the big screen. Can’t wait. Last night we had a WItte Home Theatre” run of the original ” That Taking of Pelham 1 2 3″. Fun film.

Corn on the cob??? Save some for us!

We were hoping for the gilded copy, even if it isn’t 100% gilded,

(whispering) we know they love us…may take mom till Tues, but we have the boarder, the boys AND sitters watching us do silly things.

Happy Egg Day! Those chickies are now living fulltime out in OUR yard! We are continuing our plan though…remaining calm and cool and acting like we don’t notice them. Kat went up to check them out, so we had to pull her aside to remind her that patience will pay off. Oh No! Mom is walking this way, and we can’t let her read this!

One legal question of a due process nature. Since Beppe’s photo was hijacked for a few days, is he entitled to any extra time into early July to make up for this grievous miscarriage of justice? Inquiring legal minds want to know.

  11. Herd of Hounds

    11:13 am on June 30th, 2013

Wookie’s Dad – the answer to your legal question is conditional. If WE are chosen as FOM, as we SHOULD be then; no- Beppe is SOL. If however the Wrotten Kats are chosen, then Beppe should get an extra two or three weeks into July.
If anyone else is chosen, we don’t care.

And thanks to today’s post, Mama is realizing that she only has three weeks to get ready for FOUR back to back shows, including the week long one. AWWWWWWKKKKKK!!!

  14. B. Stover
    11:23 am on June 30th, 2013

Wookie’s Dad: However, if Beppe is given time into July, then July’s pick would have to be given time into August and that pick into September…. Seems like a problem of entropy.

  15. O'Howlers

Finn’s Mom: You should submit it now, because it always seems like recent entries win.
Wookie’s Dad: If Beppe gets more time, can we sue on behalf of Buddy whose FOM time was cut short? We seem to remember Bear’s was cut short as well. Legal counseling is needed.
Bee, we don’t know that word.
    Happy Birthday to OTAS!

O’Howlers: I’ll wait, not a big deal. I want to give everyone a fair shake, especially those who have been here longer, to get FOM. Besides, we’re not having the best of days. I am preparing for my senior dog to cross the bridge. He’s with my parents as he hates cats and I have two, but my parents love him to bits and I see him often when they come to visit and I send the cats to board for a few days.

He’s had reoccurring ear infections for the last year and this one is very, very bad and meds aren’t stopping it. The vet and my parents are making him comfortable, but unless the new antibiotics fix it, we’ll have to make that decision.

“Entropy” is used in different fields. In thermodynamics it is the measure of the energy that a system loses or can’t use. In information theory it is “the measure of uncertainty in a random variable.” My definition would be that entropy is the measurement of the instability of the haphazard. In other words, we would have DISORDER in our system and that is banned.

We are late arriving on the blog today. We agree with Wookie’s Dad that Beppe did indeed get short changed. Maybe since July is a long month, he could stay till the 2nd or 3rd. I am sure the new FOM wouldn’t mind.

Finn, sorry to hear about your old friend’s problem. Hope he is peaceful and pain free. These times are never easy.

Lovely day here, lots of sunshine and mild temps. Barb cut the grass in the back and now we will sit out on the patio for a bit.

A chipmunk (13 stripped ground squirrel), with a death wish, has made a burrow within leaping distance from said patio. Yesterday I stuck my nose down in it as far as it would go, then I decided to dig the little sucker out of there. Barb said I could not do that. She is a Debbie Downer!

B — Any system that is predicated on the inherent reliability of an East German Army Surplus Random Number Generator is already synonymous with DISORDER, with instability of the haphazard out the ying-yang (as Chet would say). Just saying. . .

I hate to disappoint, but they did the drawing for the entrance fee yesterday. We did not win, but it was nice to be able to have the entrance fee paid with earnings from the MMSB, individual sponsorships, the tips that AJ saved from his job and the savings I started stashing the moment we returned home from Nome. Thank youse all for making this possible.

Finn: Please see your mom and the old dog to the quilt. There they will find comfort and most likely snacks.

Between Wookie’s Dad and Bee, we have a surplus of $10 words. Maybe we could sell some of them at the next auction.

We are pleased to say that OTAS is a member of our family. Back when Mama first met Melanie and the Pack, the Storyteller and YSAS made a real connection – they kind of adopted each other. OTAS and Mama both being artists created a bond there. So both boys have not only the best mother in the world and a wonderful grandmother, they have “spiritual parents” to give them a hard time(and love) too.
Happy Birthday Dear OTAS – have we mentioned lately how proud of you we are?

I will let OTAS know of your good wishes. I texted him last night. It was about the same time – 30 odd (in more ways than one) years ago – that my brother convinced my x and me that I was having false labor. Why might you ask since I was two days from my due date? Because my brother had never heard of BACK labor. Jeeze Louise.

OTAS thought that was funny. Just wait until OTAS and GLAD have children. Heh, heh, heh

We keep hearing about all kinds of “summer” beers. There is a Red Apple Ale, and a Summer Shandy that is a lemonade beer. We don’t have a chance to try some, as neither Mama or the Storyteller ever touches the stuff. But we are intrigued. Has anyone tried them?

SnowBella: How long will you be gone? Will you be Communicado?

Rio: Will you be sharing your Hot Wings and Alaskan Amber? I could use a cold brew about now.

Sigh – it’s raining here again. There was a knock on the backdoor a little while ago. The resident garter snake that Gilly tries to herd? He was at the door asking if we had some snake-sized water wings he could borrow.

Barb is not a big beer drinker, but she has tried Blue Moon with a big slice of orange in it and that is excellent. Also SIL loves Summer Shandys and drinks them all summer long. There is another one that is popular called Shock Top that Barb tried and liked.

Barb finished Blessing already, after checking it out Thurs after noon. It was excellent, and had every kind of critter that Barb had at the farm, except chickens. She even gave a very accurate description of a little miniature donkey giving birth. Author is definitely a horse person. We are going to check on more of Kittle’s books.

We have the most incredible sky here right now. There are thunderclouds in the twilight, moving across the sky like a slow moving herd of cows, grazing their way out to pasture. But off in the distance is one billowing cloud bank, picked out by the last of the sun’s rays, turning it a soft glowing apricot color against the purpley grey of the horizon.

Any woof, he liked his presents. One was a dish from a Zimbabwe artist Golinka and Storyteller know. This guy also does the Cultural Survival shows. The gift was a stained soapstone dish. A picture is etched out of the stain. OTAS loved it. He especially loved it when I explained that one of the rhinos was scratching his rear on the tree. snicker . . Do I know my son or what?

The other present was a Golinka Pot! Done in earth tones and leather. Both OTAS and GLAD loved that!

    Before I head upstairs . .

One of the storms that came through today thundered in the correct spot for echoing through the hills. When I realized that it was echoing, I started counting. FIFTEEN seconds, and that wasn’t including when I didn’t count!

All the storms seem to be over here, although they are calling for more in the wee hours. We don’t believe them, so we helped put horses out for the night.
The storm we had was not so bad, although the thunder got loud, and it blew the rain against the house so heavy that we couldn’t see anything out those windows. The funny part was that it hardly rained in the back of the house. Friends of ours, who live closeby, had their whole driveway washed out. Talk about hit or miss!

Bear, Kat does not worry about storms, nor does she feel the need to protect our people. She slept right through it.

Whodunnit!…grunt!…Well, since Under The Dome is a re-run already after one episode, we are back watching the reality murder mystery…sniff!…If I didn’t have to listen to all their stupid opinions it would not be a half bad show…grumble!…My friend was told by someone who was actually on a big-time reality show that you have to be nuts to even want to be on one…sniff!…He also said, most of the reality is not really real. We believe it….grunt!

Game!…As far as I can tell, and I am a mere pug, this Whodunnit Game is split into two groups of people…grunt!…There is the group who actually thinks and puts two and two together to figure out the clues, and then there is the group who expects the people in the first group to tell them what happened…heh!heh!…So the real mystery is how the dumb ones will be kilt off during the show…snort!
