Friend of the Month Non-Reminder
Because our problem re uploading to the Friends of Chet gallery has not yet been solved, there will be no Friend of the Month contest for October. Apologies, and thanks for your patience. Friend of the Month will take place as usual at Chet’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/ChetTheDog.
Meanwhile, here’s something Tundra sent into the comments section recently:

Mattie is dying. Everything is going fast. Her back legs have about given up and she can’t control her urine. She is eating her breakfast. I will keep her home where she is with Mac and me. We could all use one of your wonderful quilts. Thanks. Zoe
8:31 am on September 30th, 2014
Poor Zoe. So much loss in such a short time. You are in our hearts.
8:44 am on September 30th, 2014
How hard is Mr. Baker trying to fix the problem? Wonder, can it be that difficult?
Happy Tuesday everyone. Time for a short 10 minute walkie, and then off to work. Taking over for the other assistant tomorrow, so working a 3 day week. Could use the extra $$ with all the buying going on here recently for the new bath. Didn’t know bath accessories were so pricey!
8:46 am on September 30th, 2014
Zoe. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. The quilt is always there at any time for you, Mac and Mattie. She is such a brave girl and her love for you is boundless. She knows that you will take care of her in just the right way.

Just for Mattie:
Once a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
Under the shade of a coolibah tree
And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boiled
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
Down came a jumbuck to drink at the billabong
Up got the swaggie and grabbed him with glee
And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker-bag
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
And he sang as he stowed that jumbuck in his tucker-bag
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
Down came the squatter mounted on his thoroughbred
Up came the troopers One Two Three
Who’s the jolly jumbuck you’ve got in your tucker-bag?
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
Who’s the jolly jumbuck you’ve got in your tucker-bag?
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me.
Up got the swaggie and jumped into the billabong
You’ll never catch me alive said he
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me
And his ghost may be heard as you pass by that billabong
You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me

I’m so sorry about Mattie.
Good morning all.

T&G: In yesterday’s comments you put “slot machine” in quotation marks which is why it went through unmoderated.
For those interested, Graceland starring David Tennant starts this Thursday night on Fox. (It’s the American version of Broadchurch.)
9:37 am on September 30th, 2014
Bless you both, Zoe and Mattie. Thinking of you and our dear Melanie, too.
Thank you, Wookie and Teddy’s Dad. My sinuses are now clear. I guess I needed that.
Staff: I agree with your comment from last night. Grump.
10:03 am on September 30th, 2014
I am so very sorry to hear that Mattie is preparing to Cross. Dear and wonderful Zoe, this is heartbreaking for you. I am in tears.
10:06 am on September 30th, 2014
Zoe, Mattie has been your doting companion. Godspeed.
10:10 am on September 30th, 2014
I sing Waltzing Mathilda to her on walks. She takes having an Australian name seriously and is our only dog to do “walk about” on a regular business. I would get the car and start looking. Then I’d get out and walk, and usually, when I got back she was sitting by the car, panting and asking where the **** is the water?
She did a short walk about two weeks ago. I could follow her on that one.
Thanks, friends.
10:20 am on September 30th, 2014
ZOE, I am heartbroken to hear this news about Mattie. Know that she will always be in your heart, as you will be in hers. Dan, Melanie, the Newfs and many other goods friends will be there to welcome her.
W&T’s Dad: Thank you.
AJ: Is the sled you are repairing your starting sled, or the WosenGrizz sled?
How is the training with Philip going?

TeddyRR: That was a nice tribute to Mattie that your dad posted.
12:45 pm on September 30th, 2014
There is a Mattie shaped lump under the Quilt. There is also a much smaller, Zoe shaped lump next to the other lump.
Zoe: Love and head bumps to you and your family.
Dear Creator, Please comfort Mattie and all those who love her. When the time comes, please prepare an easy, painfree path for her Crossing. Please bless she will know how much she is loved. Thank you for her. Amen.

Two things on my mind at this point:
First off, my brother is back in the hospital with a so far undiagnosed breathing problem. He is in good hands, and will get the care he needs, but if you happen to have an extra prayer in your pocket, maybe you could send it along to him.
Second, FireMountain Gems who contributed beads to the last Snowhook Auction has just opened their annual website for Circle of Hope, Cure for Breast Cancer store. What this is, artists from all over the country donate handmade beads or jewelry items, Fire Mountain uses their extensive website to sell those donations and 100% of the proceeds goes to cancer research. We donated a miniature breastplate in memory of our Best Friend. If you want to see the donations, go to http://www.firemountaingems.com and click on the Circle of Hope tab.
And now, we are on the way to the hospital to see what they are doing for brother dear.
It’s always something.
3:16 pm on September 30th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: We are sorry to hear your brother is back in the hospital. Prayers for his Best Care and that he will be able to return home very soon.
Thank You for posting the link to the Fire Mountain Gems website and their Circle of Hope.
3:24 pm on September 30th, 2014
Tupper’s Mama: It is always something. Prayers being sent to your brother.
I can’t seem to win a game of cribbage at home so I’m off to the Lamplighters (that’s the seniors activity centre) to try my luck there. They have snacks! 🙂
3:26 pm on September 30th, 2014
The ‘rents are back home, and unpacked. The last thing they unpacked was our iPaw, so we could finally get on and wish Nana a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! We hope she is having a fun day.
We just caught up on the blog, and Mom is sobbing for Zoe and Mattie. So much loss. Kat is already blurring on up there, Zoe, to give you lots of love and kisses. We all love you very much.
3:47 pm on September 30th, 2014
Nana!…I wonder what Nana is doing today on her birthday…sniff!…She is always up to something.
4:22 pm on September 30th, 2014
Nana:
Whoo hoo yodel howl!
Whoo hoo yodel howl!
Whoo hoo to Nana.
Whoo hoo yodel how!
4:39 pm on September 30th, 2014
Luna: Thank you for the prayer. “Please bless she will know how much she is loved.” That says it all.
Tupper’s Mama: It’s always something. Prayers and good thoughts go to you and your brother. And thank you for the website.
The other buddy here feels better today, so this buddy does too.
Dawson: Good luck with snacking and cribbage playing.
Welcome home to OH’s ‘rents.
5:16 pm on September 30th, 2014
Nana, hippo birdie two ewes.
5:34 pm on September 30th, 2014
The ‘rents thank you, LL. Mom says getting away to do something different, with no wake up and feeding responsibilities, is fun, but we are all happier when we are together here on the farm.
5:51 pm on September 30th, 2014
Wookie and Terri’s Dad..there is a wonderful rendition of Waltzing Mathilda on You Tube..it is sung by one of Australia’s famous folk singers. Thank you so much for printing it out for me..Now I don’t have to humm thru the parts where I forget the words. Mattie is a specially lady.
6:27 pm on September 30th, 2014
Zoe, all the Newfies have been special and will continue in our hearts. Our Darah Thea is a large lummox who loves her water and know that she learned many habbits from us reading to her about your special Newfs!
6:30 pm on September 30th, 2014
We told you yesterday that September was a special month for birthdays. Have a happy one, Nana!
Positive energy going out to Amalia’s brother. He is in a good place to get the help he needs right now.
6:42 pm on September 30th, 2014
Thank dog we all have each other in times of need. We are so much better than biological family!
7:27 pm on September 30th, 2014
HOH: Wow! I must be doubly blessed because my biological family are Plunderers!
7:36 pm on September 30th, 2014
DAwson, youse are one really especial gal ! 🙂
8:12 pm on September 30th, 2014
P.S. Dawson, just wish mom’s family could read 🙂 We are now going Nighty Nachos so mom can read to us, Us, US and in the morning she can take Spongetta to the hospital for more tests 🙂
8:21 pm on September 30th, 2014
Walk!…Well, we are already back from our nightly walk because it gets so dark so quickly…grunt!…Time to tuck in and ignore Beau…heh!heh!…He cannot come downstairs with my and my friend because of his wobbly knees…chuffle!
8:24 pm on September 30th, 2014
The Plunderers are indeed a special family; one we are very blessed to claim.
Brother is in tough shape. His hemoglobin was below 8 – normal is 14. They dont know if they are dealing with pnuemonia or an embolism. They want to do a cat scan, but his kidneys are failing, so they can’t.
But he is in a good hospital, and he has a good doctor. With medicine and prayers, his path is in Creator’s hands.
8:33 pm on September 30th, 2014
Stinky Brother is in our prayers and I am happy to be his pillow under the Quilt. Wyatt is being Mattie and Zoe’s pillow. What he lacks in thieving ways, he makes up for with dainty licks and goofiness.
8:35 pm on September 30th, 2014
Many purrings to those under the quilt. There are too many!
A. Catty’s Daddy used to sing Waltzing Matilda to her when she was on his knee. She says it is a good song to have sung to you.
Pttttttttt…perhaps the Daddy used to sing better than A. Catty. She gets squeaky on some parts.
9:04 pm on September 30th, 2014
Golinka!…Tough times…sniffle!
9:05 pm on September 30th, 2014
Checkpoint Central is open for Business!
Iditarod 2015 is right around the corner and that means our Snowhook Kennel doggies will be traveling the Southern Route.
Counting the Ceremonial Start, there are 25 checkpoints on the Southern Route. We will try to sponsor all of them for $250. each.
You can reserve your name (or a friends) on a checkpoint for a mere $20. Once a checkpoint has been opened, anyone who wants can donate to that checkpoint until the $250. mark is reached. Or you can sponsor the whole checkpoint!
We have a headstart because a Jim and Vicki Sutterfield have sponsored Safety. WhoooHooooo! Thank you, Jim and Vicki!
Also, the McGrath Checkpoint has been opened for Our Purple Photographer in the Sky, Melanie Carpenter. McGrath is, of course, where the Chet the Dog’s and Snowhook Kennel’s trails merged. Donations will be accepted starting now!
Rebecca has a SDD dedicated to checkpoints now so to make a donation please, please write a quick SDD to snowhookcheckpoints@gmail.com. You can announce it on the blog or not, as you choose, but make sure to SDD because my memory is spotty as best lately and sometimes I read every other word!
Thank you for your patience and Go Snowhook!
9:05 pm on September 30th, 2014
Katty!…No one sings to me and I am very very thankful…grunt!
9:07 pm on September 30th, 2014
Dawson!….Wow!Wow!….WOW!…snort!…The season has really started now…chuffle!…With a Check Point Bang!…Zow!
9:11 pm on September 30th, 2014
Koyuk!…I MINE!MINE!MINE!….Wooooo!
9:16 pm on September 30th, 2014
Ok
We SDD both Dawson and Rebecca or just Rebecca?
We send the money snail mail?
9:19 pm on September 30th, 2014
Rio: the clue in a crossword puzzle I was doing was “small dogs that have curly tails.” The answer was PUGS. Notice it didn’t say “small dogs that snort and fart.” heh
Can Beau be carried downstairs? I bet he misses being with your friend (notice I didn’t say he missed being with *you*)
Tuesdays and Thursdays I feel beat up from 2 hours of exercise at the gym–weights and yoga. Mondays and Wednesday I just have 1 hour of Aquacise which feels great.
BBL
9:22 pm on September 30th, 2014
SiberH: You SDD just the Snowhook Checkpoint SDD. You can pay Snowhook by snail mail, pay pal or hook and crook!
Koyuk! Sponsored!
This is easy, folks.
Thank you Pugs and Friend!
Once a checkpoint is opened you can donate as little as $5. or as much as you want. No limits!
9:26 pm on September 30th, 2014
C. Hobbit, you put us to shame with our puny little 30-40 minute walk in the morning. We are impressed.
Heading off to bed in a few, so Barb has time to read to us.
Thinking of all those under the quilt tonight.
9:27 pm on September 30th, 2014
SiberH!…No. The email account you need to put on your email Address Line is “snowhookcheckpoints@gmail.com”. Logon to your email and send an email to that address…snort!…Not to Rebecca or Dawson. This is a new place to place your pledges for a checkpoint. Think Auction. Auction has an email address. Dawson will gather the emails and be able to keep track of how many checkpoints have been sponsored…snort!
9:29 pm on September 30th, 2014
Beau!…Carried!…Heheheheheh!…NO.
9:35 pm on September 30th, 2014
SiberH: Check your SDD.
9:39 pm on September 30th, 2014
CHobbit!…There will be nothing left of you when we visit again if you keep up all this beating and pounding…snort!…My friend hopes to be almost nothing herself, but that is a very wishful thought…heh!heh!
9:47 pm on September 30th, 2014
Dawson, Got your SDD Thank you
Rio, I get it now. This sounds like a good way of doing it…think auction. I’m laughing, but those are actually good instructions you gave me.
9:50 pm on September 30th, 2014
SiberH!…You and I speak the same best-pal language…heh!heh!
9:50 pm on September 30th, 2014
if you want to pay by pay pal you just go to the Snowhook Kennel blogspot and make a donation but be sure to leave a message which checkpoint you are donating to or opening AND SDD the snowhookcheckpoint SDD with that information.
Thank you.
9:53 pm on September 30th, 2014
Dawson!…Will you be announcing to the gang when a new Checkpoint fund has been opened?…snort!…You may want to announce this on that facebookie thing too… chuffle!…We had quite a few new auctioneers this past summer. So they must be facebookie fans.
9:57 pm on September 30th, 2014
CHECKPOINT CENTRAL!…I love it!…snort!…I’m spinning, I’m twirling, I’m yeeeping! I’m spinning and twirling and yeeeping!…Now I am splorting!…gasp!…What a great idea….chuffle!
10:02 pm on September 30th, 2014
Barb: As I say, I feel pretty beat up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I also try and give Sadie one 45-minutes walk per day plus 2 short “sniff and pee” walks.
Rio: I could never do this if I was working full time. Tell your friend to give herself a break. {Also my doctor says that 80% of weight loss is diet rather than exercise).
10:05 pm on September 30th, 2014
You mean on the Chet the Dog facebookie thingee?
I’m still reeling from learning how to switch between e-mails, chuffle!
I will make announcements when a checkpoint is newly opened or fully funded. I will wait for Plunderers to open checkpoints up for donations. I will not be listing individual names of donators unless requested. I will report if I am asked or if Checkpoint Central deems it necessary.
10:22 pm on September 30th, 2014
Dawson!…You are in a brave, brave new world…snort!…Dawg Bless You for being Brave…chuffe!
10:23 pm on September 30th, 2014
facebookie!…I am sure The Giants will take care of the facebookie thing..snort!…Never fear on that account…heh!
10:40 pm on September 30th, 2014
Rio: Whew!
I will make this checkpoint update. We started out with 25 checkpoints to sponsor and now we only have 22.9 checkpoints to go!
We are on our way to Iditarod 2015! Go Snowhook!
I’m heading to the heating pad.
Continuing prayers for all those under the quilt tonight.
10:45 pm on September 30th, 2014
Wow!…In the blink of a Pug’s Eye we are down to 22.9 checkpoints…snort!…What Checkpoint is .90 percent funded?…wheeze!…You must Report!!!..heh!
11:03 pm on September 30th, 2014
Correction!…Make that question be; What checkpoint is 10 percent funded?..heh!heh!… I wish it was 90% but that is beside the point….snorkel!
Zoe!…I am thinking of you tonight. Seems nights are always the are times when someone is sick…sniffle!
11:20 pm on September 30th, 2014
Goodnight!..All. Time for me to hit my warm soft bed where all my baseball toys are in just the right places…snort!…I love that place…snuffle!
11:32 pm on September 30th, 2014
A shout out to ML in case she is up. I miss her on the blog but know she is learning and growing…
11:48 pm on September 30th, 2014

I had better get my rear in gear for the Shake your bootie campaign. That Dawson is stealing a march on me.
B. Stealing a March…is that an army term???
12:02 am on October 1st, 2014
Wha! Wha? Who’s waking me up? For what!? Oh…it’s Rio…should’ve known.
Are you reading every other word? McGrath!
McGrath is open for donations and is almost 10% funded! This checkpoint has been reserved for Melanie Carpenter. No more updates tonight, zzzzzzZZZZZZZZ! Snort!
12:33 am on October 1st, 2014
