Friend of the Month
“November seems to have 32 days in Chetland,” Admin says.
“Makes sense to me,” says Spence. “The random number generator has spoken and here is Odin, December’s Friend of the Month. Odin will soon be over there on the right where Logan is now for the entire month – “
“How many days will that turn out to be?”
” – and as soon as Odin’s human companion sends a mailing address to spence.quinn@gmail.com a signed and paw-printed copy of A Fistful of Collars will be on its way.”
“And next month this could be you! All you have to do is upload a photo in the Friends gallery. The random # generator – Cold War surplus, made in East Germany – does the rest.”
Welcome Scooter (pure and simple), Odin (same Odin, different pic), snowloving dude from Crested Butte, Mindy, Lexie, Sam (making a discovery), Wooky the Wonderdog, Buster, Rio & Beau. Onion – please retry.

Good morning all. Congrats to Odin and Santa, our new FOM. Santa is going to have a busy month, although a bit short.
Received the darling bag from Golinka. Same saying as on her lovely pottery piece at the auction. I can use it for groceries, books or whatever I choose. Thank you Amalia.
Now must get ready to head out for the knee MRI. I really, really don’t want to have that surgery!
9:08 am on December 3rd, 2012
Odin: I’m not sure what a ‘random number generator’ is, but it must be a good thing because mom is dancing in the kitchen and I’m doing my woo woo thing and the radio isn’t even on!

Greetings All!
Welcome, Odin, new FOM!
Rio! Love the new picture of you and Beau. I saw your post last night. I will make sure that the official picture taker (The Prof) makes sure Junior gets his money shot. I’m very excited to meet Junior. I’d be even more excited to meet you in the pug flesh, but you can’t leave your yard.

Odin is a Norse god! He will be presiding over December and the following religious holidays. Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid al-Adha, Yule, and Christmas.
If you loved Seinfeld, there is a holiday that is called Festivus. No Christmas tree, a pole which is used to clear the air between family members.
So Happy December, Odin!
10:43 am on December 3rd, 2012
Hi Kandi and congratulations Odin!
I’m laughing about the randon genertor being cold war surplus, but how did it manage to choose a Christmas photo for this month.
I am impressed.
Hey Beau, the Broncos win again!
Good Morning All
10:54 am on December 3rd, 2012
Welcome Odin, As someone whose birthday is in the coldest part of this cold month I think that a Christmas FOC is a great idea. That random number generator is pretty sneaky smart.

Siber-H: That guy looks familiar…maybe the Star of your favorite movie? (the name has slipped from my memory)
Staff & Dawson: Now that the Auction is over, the contributions to the checkpoints are sure to increase. We have 3 more months…so plenty of time to Shake Our Booties!
SnowBella: That was a funny comment you made at the end of the night. Smiling here.
Royals: Happy to hear the weekend’s shew ended on a high note despite lovesick promoter flub-ups.
11:35 am on December 3rd, 2012
Yea for Odin! Kinda boosts the theory that the RNG likes late month entries! What fun the auction was. Wish Mom would have won something. But now we may have a little more to donate to a checkpoint or bootie fund.

The catsitter is coming to stay with us at night while Mom and Dad are gone and we will try very hard not to tear up the Christmas decorations.
We will keep you posted.

The other thing I wanted to go back in time to see was old growth forests with these huge trees. Wow!

Thinking of you and your dad Gus and BooBear.
Just had lunch with a friend at the Tea Room. I had high tea. Delish.
3:22 pm on December 3rd, 2012
High time for high tea. Yummy.
I have to run (figure of speech – no running actually involved) into town for a few hours…after I shovel.
Melanie: I don’t understand why there is a skeleton in the corner of that last picture. Is he a doctor? Or is that a closet? Or…
3:26 pm on December 3rd, 2012
I have no idea, perhaps it’s a school? Doctor? Don’t know.
I have been through old growth forests. Beautiful. We have two in our immediate area. I have been to one, but not the other.
3:36 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Hooray – the tree is up!

4:06 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Just in time for Festivas, the Hallmark Channel is having a contest. The winner gets a trip to the North Pole!
Royals: Your tree is beautiful!
4:11 pm on December 3rd, 2012
B: Sounds good. Tell us what you had for lunch at the Tea Room. Is there a special time for high tea?
4:12 pm on December 3rd, 2012
wish we knew why it was sideways?!?
Really – it is UP – not laying down. sigh
4:17 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Tupper&Gilly: Standing up? Are you sure those wrotten kats didn’t get to it?
4:20 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Masquers: I think they serve high tea at any time. I had tea sandwiches–cucumber, and egg salad–(without the crusts), small quiche tarts, scones and two small tarts–pecan and chocolate. And tea of course–Earl Grey. I brought some home.
4:29 pm on December 3rd, 2012
The high tea sounds delish. The tarts sound especially good.
T & G, Your tree is beautiful. Puts our little bitty one to shame.
4:44 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Gus and BooBear,
Hugs and furry kisses from Alice and Abbie. I am glad you are going to be good tonight and we are crossing everything we have for your Dad and Mom during this time.
5:34 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Our tiny tree was put up this afternoon also.

5:38 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Barb&Magpie: We, too, have the smallest of trees with little ornaments. It cannot compare to the Fabulous tree of the Royals, but is just right for in front of the window.
Someone here is actually addressing holiday cards today. Now if only she can get them mailed before the weekend…..
Oh, dear…I just saw Staff’s little tree…so much nicer than ours. Maybe if we add some sparkly lights…..
5:52 pm on December 3rd, 2012
This husky is going to curl nose to tail around G&BBs dad and mom.
6:01 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Lighting a candle here in the middle of the mitten for
G&BB poppa.
60 degrees here today. Windows open. Odd, but no complaints.
6:26 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Melanie, Did you take the pictures of Macy’s windows? She did a good job of decorating them, didn’t she?
Also odd weather here. 70 degrees here today. And some people don’t believe in global warming! Just heard on the news that there were tornado warning out west of here, close to where we lived. Storms are heading here.
The MRI was horrible!!! Do you know how hard it is to lay perfectly still, no deep breathing, no twitching, etc. He is not sure if the films will work. They need them to build the new knee, so Barb may have to go back and do one of them over. She is not happy, no siree!
6:45 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Barb – oooo – that doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun.
Gus and BooBear – we think you know what will be in our prayers in our backyard tonight.
Just so you all know how crazy Mama is : she has boxes and boxes if ornaments for the tree. But this year, on top of dealing with Geamp’s vision , Callie’s recovery, getting ready for shows, etc, she gets a “great” idea to do the tree with pine cones, birds and holly. So, between packing and clay- ing, she was in the backyard finding pretty pine cones, drying them, sealing them and painting them with crushed glass. Trust us , there is glitter EVERYWHERE!
What WAS that woman thinking???
7:09 pm on December 3rd, 2012
-45 here today. 105 degrees difference compared to Jasper and 115 degrees difference compared to Barb. I had some errands to do but unfortunately didn’t make it to the post office to mail the auction item to the winner (sorry, Siber-H). I am defrosting at home at the moment. The post office will be at the top of my list tomorrow.
Prayers to G&BB for sure.
7:23 pm on December 3rd, 2012
T & G, We noticed the pine cones on the tree. It turned out great. We didn’t realize that your mama had to do all that this year, but now you can save them for years to come. Is the holly fresh?
Also did you hear that there will be a new addition to the Royals in England?
7:28 pm on December 3rd, 2012
The Royal Tree is just beautiful!
Staff: The size of the tree doesn’t matter, it is the sincerity and love behind it.
B: Your high tea sounded delightful!
7:30 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Jasper, I am very happy to be the new owner of your tested and approved Christmas quilt! 🙂
7:39 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Barb & MagPie, I did not take pictures of Macy’s windows. That was YSAS and SO. I still have some pictures to put up tomorrow. I have no idea how they are getting shipped to Macy.
High Tea. What lovely memories come up with that phrase. There were two places in Boston that Zoe and I went to for High Tea. A very grand hotel had a harpist while you ate tea.
The other one we took the guys. They were 7 and 12. They gulped down their sodas, ate everything on the plate and then were bored. That is the last time we asked them to come with us. Not that they ever wanted to again anyway.
7:58 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Lampoon!…National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is coming up!…snort!…We made it downstairs in the nick of time…wheeze!
8:01 pm on December 3rd, 2012
OMD, Rio. We have that movie memorized.
Good job, Odin. Welcome to you and Santa.
G&BB – warm thoughts and prayers with you and your mom and dad.
Nice pictures today. Are Macy’s windows animated? They appear to be Tim Burton-ish.
8:07 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Blu-Kat!…I’ve never seen the very first of it before!….heh!…Clark’s driving them to get a tree….Hooooo!
8:11 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Belle Starr, are you there?
I will be coming to see you in 86 days! I will wear my Chet The Dog ID tag, and my black Stormy Kromer hat.
I am going to bed now, but I just wanted you to know that.
8:29 pm on December 3rd, 2012
That movie has one of the best rants in it EVER!
I have no idea if the figures move. I will ask YSAS when I talk to him again.
My SK hat (brown wool with cotton fleece lining) came in over the weekend. The person delivered it to the wrong door, so it got VERY wet. I have been wearing it today so as it dried out, it wouldn’t shrink.
My other winter SK hat from last year needs to go to the cleaners. Patsy slobbered yogurt all over it. I tried to clean it, but it wasn’t a good idea.
Whew, been busy today, will be busier tomorrow.
TTFN
8:37 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Melanie!…That’s a good way to catch pnuemonia, walking around with a wet hat on yer head…grunt!…I bet you had reall good hat-hair too…snort!
8:38 pm on December 3rd, 2012
I’m in Ellicottville with Molly’s Mom. She’s killing me with brutal walks. Saturday was the Christmas Stroll and I met a camel, donkey and some sheep. So scared! Then I saw Tyb and all was well again. Each day we walked the ski hills and golf cart paths. She’s killing me, I tell you.
8:39 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Hat-Hair! Ah, yes.
Good Night, Wose. Sweet Iditarod Dreams.
Melanie & Patsy: Good night’s sleep to youse.
Going to get a bite to eat, then time to snuggle in our jammies with a cup of hot chocolate and some Holiday movies on TV.
Gus&BooBear: Your Mom and Pop are in our Prayers tonight. Positive thoughts that everything will go as well or even better than last time are coming your way.
Until tomorrow Everybody..Champagne Wishes & Caviar Dreams..Bear
8:47 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Night!…Rose and Melanie are already in bed…sniff!…Melanie and Rose probably have their Stormy Kromers on and who knows what Bear wears to bed besides some of his supper…chorkel!
8:57 pm on December 3rd, 2012
We just got back from a ride in the Sibaru Huskymobile, great car, and loads of room for 3 of us. Sasha was busy sleeping. Mom is planning to take all of us for more rides this weekend.
G&BB, we echo everyone’s good thoughts and prayers and hugs and kisses for you both, and for your dad and mom. We know allwill go well. Your dad is so brave and your mom is so positive. They’re the best.
We can’t post a picture of the new ride, because we haven’t seen it in daylight yet, but here is a picture of one of our trees, just inside our breezeway. Everyone recognize the decorations?

9:08 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Sideways!…How come everyones foto’s are posting sideways??….grump!
9:25 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Mine is straight up and those lovely decorations are what Molly’s Mom has, quilled.
9:26 pm on December 3rd, 2012
It is sideways but we still recognize Rio’s cards. Beautiful!
Nighty noodle to all.
9:31 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Cards!…I didn’t recognise the little cards because I was trying to figure out if the lights were shaped like Huskies…snort!
9:35 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Golinka!….Her tree is very beautiful but it is sideways too..grunt!…My friend says we will put up our little tree down here this weekend…snort!….Down in our Hobbit Hole…sniff!
9:38 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Staff!…Your tree is very beautiful too!…snort!…Are all those presents under there for me!me!me!??…wheeze!
9:43 pm on December 3rd, 2012
The pictures are all right side up on the iPaw.
Our tree has you all beat. It is 8 inches tall. It is silly to have more tree than presents, so this one will be just fine, not to mention that we can carry it from room to room.
I can’t wait until my windows arrive.
Dainty licks too G and BBs mom and dad.
Lovely work Amalia. You amaze.
9:51 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Those presents are the ones Dawson left here in September. She didn’t know she would be able to get back. Heh. So far those are the only presents under the tree.
A Catty Librarian and I picked the little table up off the boulevard this morning. It was trash day. It is perfect for the tree. The tree came from the Hardware Hank store in Mayville North Dakota about 10 years ago. It has those lights on it that neither Catty or I can remember the name of. (Catty just said Fiber Optic lights) They change colors and glow nicely. Then we have one string of round bulb lights on it also.
It does look good this year.
9:54 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Staff!….That Dawson, she thinks of everything!…snort!…Thank her for the gifts for me when you do see her again…chuffle!
9:54 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Oh yeah, The picture on the right of the tree shows Maggie’s little brother Charles (Bud) and then on his left, Maggie at about age 9.
Time to put Maggie to bed.

Shake! Rattle! And roll! We had a 5.something quake this afternoon. Wheeze!
10:23 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Wha!??…snort!…An earthquake in Alaska?….gasp!
10:32 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Rio, When I saw those two pug salt and pepper shakers I KNEW they would be perfect for. Dawson found them someplace and had to get them.
We just decided the auction was the easiest way to get them to you.
Good thing you won the auction!
10:34 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Staff!…Those salt and pepper shakers will be a great surprise for my friend….snort!…I know she wants more of us pugs around here…burp!
10:38 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Willow!…The earthquake was felt 125 miles southwest of Anchorage, and in Willow, 50 miles north of the city….snort!…I hope everyone is okay and no one is too shaken up…grunt!
11:11 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Rio: We just roll with it. 🙂
11:19 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Junior!…I’m happy you are A-Okay and tip-top too…snort!…Now what were you doing when the quake hit?…grunt!…Having a good shake?
11:40 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Arrrggghh…. Just wrote a longish post and POOF – it disappeared.
Anyway, we were saying that there are lots of earthquakes in Alaska but they happen in areas where there is no one to feel them. Kind of like that old conundrum about the tree in the forest.
Glad Snowhook is all ok
New washing machine coming in the a.m. so we are going to bed now. G’night all
11:43 pm on December 3rd, 2012
Rio: How did you guess? I thought only nine Newfs-a-shakin’ would hit the ricter scale, but you get 50 of Snowhook doing the same and voila—it’s felt near, far and makes the news.
11:48 pm on December 3rd, 2012
T&G: it’s not as exciting as getting an new washer delivered in the morning, but I’m at the laundry mat tonight and I had the right amount of quarters saved up from previous trips to the laundry mat. I’m twirling, I’m twirling—hey, you have to celebrate success where you find them. 😉
Wose: Belle Starr is under the impression you will be here in 2 days. I asked her how she figured it out. She explained: 8 – 6 = Wose gets here in 2 days.
12:08 am on December 4th, 2012
Shhhh – is ok? No von can hear if ve vhisper? Ok. So Natasha vill now tell you vhat is in Top Secret briefcase handcuffed to wrist of AJ.
Is first chapter of new book by famous author Bernie Little about great fictional tennis pro Spencer Qvinn. Is called “Chet Vas Involved”.
Somehow is elephant, kidnapping, mountain camp, cat and thanksgiving turkey all rolled in von book. Is brilliant. That Bernie is Natasha’s very favorite author.
Vell, after Tolstoy of course. But much better than that Kafka guy. He is SO depressing.

As opposed to a lot of food and it’s too much time on it and then just stop doing it altogether. I want to have a sense of accomplishment is a great replacement, and if you’re
having a hard time minimizing your sweet intakes, frozen cherries and grapes are excellent alternatives.
