Follow-Up

How about starting the week by answering a couple of questions that arose from yesterday’s post about my supposedly long bike ride. Question one: How far? Answer: not far – only 15 miles, and on flat Cape Cod terrain, at that. Excuse: I got hungry. Question two: Where’s the helmet? Answer: There may be one around somewhere but I don’t wear a helmet. Excuse: personality defect. Question three: do I play the piano? Answer: I wish. Meanwhile Mrs. Plansky’s Revenge, preorderable, is now just a little more than two months from pub date. One thing I’ll be talking about on the tour is Mrs. Plansky’s 98 year old dad. He turned out to be the kind of character who wants to take over the whole book and needs to be kept in his place.

    Greetings!

Only 15 miles? That’s impressive to this couch potato, even if it is on flat terrain!
Helmet, who needs a helmet. Think about all the things we did as kids that are flagged as dangerous now. As Rio would say, “Bah!”

RIO! Would you send a picture of the orchid to me? I would love to see it, and with your permission post it on the blog.

    Good day to all!

I cannot condone the lack of head protection. I fell from my bike a few blocks from home and bumped my head. I was wearing a helmet so no harm. But a school colleague’s son cracked his head on a curb falling from his bike and he lost a year of high school and I don’t know if there was permanent damage. I would hate for there to be a delay in any Chet & Bernie (or other) books.

15 miles. I did some 10 mile bike “races” to raise money for various charities about 20 years ago. They were nothing to sniff about. Most were flat but flat can be a matter of interpretation.

My Dad is 93 and I totally get the taking over the book thing. Keep a tight rein in on Dad.

Hope you had a Happy Sherlock Holmes Day and played a little Solitaire.

We’d like to hang out with Mrs. Plansky’s 98 year old paw, you know, just to keep an eye on him.

WTAFP: Out of curiosity, can we add a 98 year old fictional character under our Slim Jim retainer with you? No reason…
