Good morning! We like that gadget. We know The Reds would score big points, and Zeus the Goose would not. Heh heh! He is The Inside Man!!
8:17 am on May 19th, 2014
Sorry but I have no opinion on this. I liked the quotation from Aristotle:
“Good has two meanings: it means that which is good absolutely and that which is good for somebody. ”
I also think it would be interesting to see the “coupler” leash on two Newfs.
Good morning all.
8:31 am on May 19th, 2014
Good morning OH, B and everyone! Since this techno goodie necessitates the use of a “smart” phone, we’re on the outside, lookin’ in. Zoe, had to laugh at the mental image of 2 newfs with a “coupler”. Goodness, mountains could be moved! Can’t imagine the poor human 🙂
Maybe we could do a “Malapropism” Monday.
8:32 am on May 19th, 2014
Barb probably would not use this device. Interesting but not in our future. Barb says when she is gone we probably do what we do when she is here – either lay around or bark at some furry critter outside.
Getting ready to go in to the office for the last minute fill-in. Boss guy is at his Wisconsin place and doesn’t want to go in, so Barb will be by herself all day.
8:48 am on May 19th, 2014
Greetings!
I definitely cannot image two Newfs on a coupler or Zeusikov and the Reds on one either.
Sammie and LouLou looked very cute together on theirs. They really do look like twins!

Kelly tells us she walks all three dogs at the same time. We have never seen her do it, so not sure it is true, or how smoothly it goes.
Must take off shortly. Hope everyone has a good day.

Before we go, forgot to say that we had the most amazing grilled chicken last night at Josh’s. He marinated boneless chicken thighs (much better than chicken breasts) in olive oil and Herbs de Provence. It is a seasoning available in most gourmet sections. It originated in France, and lavender is one of the ingredients. Great on pork chops too!

Good morning, family.
We walk on a coupler when we need to be leashed. It’s the only time the Gilly-Monster walks a straight line, when she is attached to me, me, me.
I am a good influence.
(And my legs are shorter)

We had to wade through many Advertisements before getting to the article and even then were batting them away like flies.
Have to agree with B…the Aristotle Quote was nice.
About the coupler…seems better for Small Dogs like Sammie, LouLou and the Royals…Newfs or Huskies…not so much.

Many eons ago, Mama showed dogs in Obedience trials. There was a category for “Brace” which was a pair of dogs on a long coupler, working as one and obeying commands to heel, down, stay etc.
She saw Standard Poodles, Labs, and once even a pair of St Bernards shown in Brace.
Worst team she ever saw was a pair of Scotties who decided mid course that they really didn’t like each other – or their handler – very much.

O’Howlers: Wonder if the Inside-Man was kept outside in his former life?
Barb&Magpie: What yummy dinners you have!
Which reminds me…it is Time for Breakfast.
Tupper&Gilly: Funny story!

T&G, we are ROFL out loud!

I like the idea of a high tech collar for dogs.
Fun google doodle today.

Fortunately for us, a dog fitbit is probably unnecessary at this time. There is no question that Teddy gets ample exercise and then some, although with the heat of summer approaching, it’s probably going to be early morning walks more and more.
However, both of Teddy’s two-leggeds have become quite enamored with fitbits for humans, and we have had them for the past year and a half or so. Actually, the darn thing does provide strong motivation to get that additional exercise in and the satisfaction of charting progress. And, obviously, Teddy’s arrival on the scene has contributed to activity levels in a significant want.
On Friday (May 23), “little” Teddy will be one year old, and Zeta a few days later. We are actually planing a joint birthday party for both dogs and some of their two-legged friends on May 31; it should be a real blow out with even some of that Belgian style American beer on hand. You all are certainly invited to join us, if you like.
12:33 pm on May 19th, 2014
Free beer? I’m in!
12:33 pm on May 19th, 2014
Our little Teddy is growing up. That should be a GREAT party. We will be at a show, but plan to blur in for a little while anyway.
Rebecca – there may or may not have been some sniffles and blurry eyes around here when the mail came. Many thanks to friends of the heart.
Off to see docs, do errands and get groceries. See ya all later.
12:43 pm on May 19th, 2014
Beer!…Birthday Party!…snort!…Count me in twice…heh!heh!
12:43 pm on May 19th, 2014
Actually it is good to be back in posting mode; have been in lurker status a lot for the past few weeks. Key development here is that my dad reached the point where, for safety reasons, it really wasn’t good for him to continue living in our house (stairs being the big issue) and about a week ago he moved into a really nice senior assisted-living facility that is about 10 minutes from out house. He actually has handled the transition quite well, and he even has high speed internet access in his suite (at 95, he is still pretty internet savvy). The true difficult part proved to be the logistics of the move, including the massive amount of paperwork associated with it, which was fairly daunting. Teddy has even been to visit once since he moved in (the facility is very pet friendly), as he certainly doesn’t want to lose out on those tummies opportunities.
Teddy is also progressing quite well with his quilt tester apprenticeship. A lot of the quilting events that previously were held in our house have gotten sufficiently large that they now take place at the church where the quilt guild has its regular meetings, which fortunately is only a couple of blocks from our home. Teddy is making regular appearance at the events though and takes is quilt testing/quilt lady supervising responsibilities very seriously.

Are kats invited to the birthday bash?
1:33 pm on May 19th, 2014
BSD, that could be the reason, but it could be the opposite: perhaps he was never outside except to be tied? Or, another theory is that he is afraid that, if he is outside without people, he will be left behind. If he is in the house, he has the security of knowing that sooner or later, we will return.
A birthday party with Belgian-style beer? Count us in!
1:35 pm on May 19th, 2014
The fitbit….Mom says not necessary if you pay attention and observe how and what your dog is doing.
A Teddy and Zeta birthday party! Count me in!!
Maybe there will pictures and video. WooHoo
2:06 pm on May 19th, 2014
Masquers — kats are definitely welcome, especially cool jazzy ones (although herbs are welcome too). Teddy and Zeta are very nondiscriminatory in that regard (although rabbits and deer may still want to be a bit wary).
2:49 pm on May 19th, 2014
Hey, guys. Can we get some extra prayers for Dad? He’s had a very rough month and his recovery has hit a rough patch. Mom doesn’t want him to give up but sometimes the fight is hard.
Thank you with much love,
BooBear

BooBear — Extra special and strong prayers and good thoughts coming your way from here in Chevy Chase. The struggle can be difficult at times but hopefully the strong, shared love your Dad feels from his family and friends will give him the strength he needs to win this battle.
3:13 pm on May 19th, 2014
BooBear, many prayers coming your way.

3:23 pm on May 19th, 2014
Thank you, guys. Mom is pretty scared herself right now. It’s scary not knowing why things aren’t going as they should be.
3:25 pm on May 19th, 2014
Love and positive thougts heading your way, BooBear. We are so very sorry to read about the rough patch. May it be a minor bump in the road.

BooBear, Your Dad is always in my thoughts, but I am sending the strongest prayers to him. May the Creator lead him through the difficult paths, and restore him to health. Hugs and love to you, your Dad, and Mom.
4:04 pm on May 19th, 2014
Teddy, you are turning 1 year old! My, time passes so quickly! When I met you you were a pup! I gave you a chew stick, and we played and wrestled on the grass. You are a big, handsome boy now. sniff.
I hope you and Zeta, your Princess, have a very happy birthdays. I hope you take lots of pictures, and make another movie, too!
Kat, do you think you can pick me up for the party?
4:30 pm on May 19th, 2014
Boo Bear -0Absolutely, prayers coming at you. Your Dad has every right to feel beat up and let down and discouraged. But we want him to know that on the days he feels the worst, we will be there with the most supportive and secure safety net. Tell him he can fall backwards into the strength of the many hands that will hold him up, while all the time being clasped together in prayers.
Mama says she is going to read all your comments to Andy – they might light a candle that will help him see through the dark.
And now for a little good news. Mama has had a very tough winter, as you know. She was sick most of the time, and just generally feeling like compost, if you know what we mean. Her doctor sent her to another doctor who figured out that Mama had developed an allergic reaction to her insulin. The doc changed her to a new kind, and things are improving daily. Of course the new kind is rare (and expensive) – thank goodness for health insurance. whew!
4:43 pm on May 19th, 2014
Strongest possible prayers to Boo Bear’s family. Tell him that he has made it through all the other bad days and so his record is encouraging. I will be thinking of youse while I start painting my deck…
Tupper’s Mom: congrats on better health
4:45 pm on May 19th, 2014
And thank dog for an insightful doctor. About time our Golinka started feeling better 🙂
4:52 pm on May 19th, 2014
Dear Amalia: You, too, are always in our Thoughts and Prayers.
After doing so much for everyone else you now must take good care of yourself.
BooBear: Sending so much Love and Big Hugs your way. Our Prayers are so Strong we just know your dad and mom can feel them and the Creator hears them.
4:56 pm on May 19th, 2014
BooBear!….I will put Beau on the job of sending very strong Pug-Prayers for your Paw…sniffle!…He will be better in no time!…snort!

We have been off the blog all day and have come back to see that many, many prayers are needed tonight. Boobear, we will say an extra special prayer for your dad tonight. He is always in our thought. Thinking of Andy too, and hope he sees a light at the end of the tunnel.
Amalia, glad they have found a better med for you. Good that you are feeling better.
Happy birthday soon to our little Teddy, and we will be thrilled to attend your first b-day party. We know your mom will have some tasty treats for both the two leggeds and the four leggeds.
7:46 pm on May 19th, 2014
Wose, thank you for the beautiful card. It was waiting for Mom in the mail when she got home from the doctors today. Perfect timing. She read it to Dad along with all the posts today. He thinks this is a very special group of friends on this blog. Thank you, SQ, for writing such wonderful books that brought us all together.

Rio has been showing up in the Chet’s Friends fotos a lot lately.
9:07 pm on May 19th, 2014
Sure, you know it happens, but you never really believe it until it happens to you. There I was, licking a sore on my side, and then suddenly I wasn’t. What changed? One word—Cone. Gah!
The Thieves have dispatched to tend to Truman. Pancho will wrap his tail around Truman’s wrist if he doesn’t feel like racing wheelchairs. Luna sent Savannah to be with Andy. Savannah is a born caregiver. She also makes a great pillow.
I will gladly give up my cone for anyone who is hurting or sick. Just say the word.
9:15 pm on May 19th, 2014
Oh Garcia- poor puppy. The Cone of Shame. Oh dear. Just remember to give some leeway to door frames. Enough said.
9:23 pm on May 19th, 2014
Garcia, Yeep! The Cone! I hope you are tip-top soon.
9:39 pm on May 19th, 2014
Can’t find anything good on tv (we aren’t watching that 24 follow up show), so we may just call it a night. Another day of work tomorrow for Barb who is whining about having to work two days in a row this week, plus babysit for Jack on Wednesday. Looks like a no nap week for the old girl.
Hope everyone under the quilt has a healing and peaceful evening.
9:40 pm on May 19th, 2014
Garcia, what happened? Why the cone, dude? Aunt MPM has a special mug about that cone.
9:51 pm on May 19th, 2014
Cone!…heh!heh!
10:01 pm on May 19th, 2014
Stairs are the worst. I’ve about taken out half of the front porch with this damned cone. I’m as easy going as they come, but this cone is getting on my nerves.
Howlers: It’s hard to say what happened. The details are furry. I do know my Lady arrived home and I had a cut on my side. It didn’t bother me, but I think my licking it bothered her. I can’t help it. My tongue has a mind of its own just like my tail. I would be minding my own business, and then the next thing I would know my tongue was licking the sore. Once it would start, it was hard to stop. Now, I’m being punished for the misdeeds of the tongue.
10:42 pm on May 19th, 2014
Garcia!…Suck it up pal, the cone will not come off till your nose heals…heh!heh!….A photo would be fun…snort!
Elementary!…We are catching up on this show – so far behind…yeep!…I like Stover’s quote, because I live by the rule that things are only good if they are good for me!me!me!…chuffle!
10:51 pm on May 19th, 2014
Elementary!Another show to catch up on. Gah.
11:25 pm on May 19th, 2014
MyCroft!….In the original series, wasn’t he a “good” guy?…snort!…This is my redeeming hope anyways…grunt!
11:37 pm on May 19th, 2014
Amalia, cheers for new meds.
Teddy, who’s a big boy?
Karen, live every minute in a way that won’t cause regrets. None of us knows what tomorrow holds, and if we did, we would be too terrified to get out of bed.
Love to all. Mom is very weepy tonight.
11:44 pm on May 19th, 2014
ML: Don’t forget I’m a wash and wear kind of a guy. Weep all you need. Head bumps.
11:48 pm on May 19th, 2014
Garcia, Mom swears by something called Granulex. She buys it at the feed store and it heals wounds quicker than a pug can slurp a mug of beer.
11:50 pm on May 19th, 2014
Karen, we are praying for your Truman. Life just ain’t fair sometimes.
12:03 am on May 20th, 2014
Wolfie! Good to hear from you. What exactly is Granulex? Is it a food, an ointment, a pill?
We are up waiting for Jack Hanna to be on the Letterman show. We love it when he is on with his wild animals. Always learn something new.
Macy – your mom needs to cry. Tears can eventually heal the pain in hearts and the rips of a soul. Snuggle up to her and get damp. She needs you more than ever. And let her know that we are all holding her on our shoulders, so she can cry as much as she wants.
12:20 am on May 20th, 2014
A woman died last week that mom never met, yet feels a strange connection. Her husband was mom’s boyfriend before dad. Him dumping mom caused mom and dad to meet. How strange that they both lose their spouses so close together.
Thanks Wyatt, and all.
12:49 am on May 20th, 2014
Macy – that is rather serendipitous, isn’t it.
But for now, we will say g’night, family.
