Not sure we’ve ever addressed this issue here at the blog. Nice to be on this list.

Lately I’ve been in some small riverside Russian villages. This photo shows a new house on left with old one behind it and a grocery store with a bus stop in front. The bus goes to a larger town a few miles away

In grocery store, everything is behind a counter or in a locked cabinet. Half the goods for sale is alcohol

Wooden church in Kazhi has been undergoing restoration since 1990. Seven tiers and 22 wooden domes

In a couple of days, this new dome will be added to the church. It takes 7 minutes to make each individual wood tile. The artisan was just using an axe during a demonstration

Very timely issue for me as I am (one of a group) helping a Syrian family integrate into Canada and the mother is afraid of dogs. Her children, however, are quickly learning to love the furry creatures and run up to any dog they see. Both reactions can pose problems. I have read two books on this list – Woof and a Clifford the Big Red Dog book.

Hobbitz: I am enjoying immensely your pictures of life and architecture in Russia. I thank you for sharing your travels with us.

I took one good picture on my recent vacation. A blackberry bush in blossom. The killer whale breaching in the Georgia Strait was impossible to photograph as was the Spitfire Airplane doing acrobatics in the skies above the Strait. Especially for one who has attended Mollypop’s and Loulou’s Mom’s School of Photography.

BC is filled with smoke with over 600 forest fires burning. I went outside to water the long neglected garden but did not stay long.

CHOBBITZ fotos are fascinating. The onion dome that has tiles that are carved with only an axe are truly an artistic labor of love.
Dawson, cannot believe the scope of the western fires. Our last year in Temecula, CA was intense and frightening but nothing like what we are reading and seeing.

Raining! It has been raining hard here for a few days. We have taken all the necessary precautions including moving my kibble and dog pillows to high ground. Taking no chances, Wee Nigel has taken to wearing a water wing on both ears and his tail.

Firefighters!….Lots of guys have lost their lives this season because of all the fires everywhere…sob!…This disheartens me because my friend used to work (and adore) a certain Hot Shot retired (age 34) fire fighter. She heard countless stories of all the hardships those guys endure during the fire season….yeeep!…This year seems to be particularly devastating…weep!sob!…Our prayers are with them every day that is for sure…wuffle!

Firefighters! We here love firefighters. In 2015, the day after we returned home from being evacuated, my Lady saw signs along the highway saying ‘We love our Firefighters.’ She didn’t cry when we said good-bye to the house. She didn’t cry when she drove away with all of us loaded in the truck and trailer, when Wyatt put his paw on her shoulder to let her know he was in charge. She didn’t cry when we were certain the property was safe. But, she cried when she saw those signs. She cried later when she saw the firefighters at the grocery store loading up on sports drinks. She cried when she saw a photo of firefighters on a plane heading to AK from the lower 48, with a caption that read, “We’re coming, Alaska.” She cried when a friend told her about cleaning around their property that was saved by firefighters. They noticed footprints next to the house but facing away from the house. They realized the firefighters literally had their backs against the wall in defense of their home. As they continued to clean they noticed movement coming through the burned trees. It was a wall of firefighters looking for hot spots. Sniff. We here love firefighters.
