Et Maintenant, Mesdames et Messieurs: Eva Mendes
“Did you know,” says Spence, “that Eva Mendes talks to her dog – a Belgian Malinois named Hugo – in French?”
“Qui est-elle, Eva Mendes?” says Admin.

Good Morning All!
I may be first today!
Admin: Who is Eva Mendes? An actress. I hate questions in French. I have to use the Google translator…next time try Spanish.
Hope everyone who was under the weather is tip-top today!
8:57 am on February 8th, 2012
Good morning Rose. I hit the link and still have no idea who she is. Actress? Model?
BSD and all, I think I heard you howling with the Full Moon last night.
Very proud of OTAS and FOTAS who took in a yellow lab that was very over weight. (she was heavier than our smallest Newf, Mattie)
One year later!
9:08 am on February 8th, 2012
Melanie, good for them and good for Emma. Look at her great big smile.
9:11 am on February 8th, 2012
Spence: Who is Eva Mendes and why isn’t there at least a picture of her dog in this article?
Melanie: Your boys did a fantastic job with Emma. She looks so much happier.
9:11 am on February 8th, 2012
Good morning, all. Eva Mendes is the actress we wanted for Susie Sanchez. We are so happy to see Admin post about her. Does this mean that Spencer is considering her for the part?
Emma looks great! Good work, OTAS and FOTAS
We just watched “Why Do They Run” video, and now we are so totally stoked for Iditarod, which is just a very long 24 days away!!!! We now have 5 mushers set up to follow on Iditarod Insider.
9:20 am on February 8th, 2012
There is a great video of the “other” race that just started. Not long.
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheYukonQuest
Beautiful work. When I grow up, I want to do a movie of Snowhook!
9:39 am on February 8th, 2012
Emma!…Emma’s got a flat head like I do…heh!
Mendes!…Who is this Mendes chick and why do we care?…grunt!
9:39 am on February 8th, 2012
The pictures of the new FOC are great. I LOVE Darwin’s picture.
A dog after my own Mac’s heart!
9:42 am on February 8th, 2012
I got an email from Tyb’s Dad last night but I had gone to bed so early that I didn’t see it until this morning. It appears Tyb may have had some injury in his hindquarters and yelped when touched. He was having trouble walking and when he lay down, he couldn’t get up again. The vet did lots of tests and couldn’t find anything. He has Tyb on pain pills and lots of rest.
9:51 am on February 8th, 2012
For some reason I just want to say, “Who cares” regarding Mendes.
Emma looks very happy.
I hope Tyb starts feeling better soon.
Good morning all.
9:54 am on February 8th, 2012
OMG!….I saw me, Rio, and Cassie the Butt sniffing Dog up at the top together!….Woooo! ….That has never happened before!…snort!
Yukon!….Melanie, what an amazing short film! SiberH is going to love it!…snort!….It feels like you are right there at the start of the race….zow!
Mr. Tibbs!…Oh no! Now Mr. Tibbs is hurt….sob!sob!… I hope they can find out what is wrong with him. Could it be a pinched nerve or sumthing?….wuffle!….Get better soon pal…sniffle!
10:04 am on February 8th, 2012
Riö, I really can see you as a sled ornament with that chow chow coat on. You would look great!
Sooo, blood pressure is a bit high. (snort!) I will be going on a med as soon as the other doctor gets to the first doctor about what is safe for me to take. sigh. I wonder how many phone calls I’ll have to make to get it done.
TYB! Feel better dude. Hopefully you have just twisted something and need a rest.
10:09 am on February 8th, 2012
TYB – headbutts from the Kats and snuffling kisses from us. We hope you are feeling tip top very soon!
Melanie – Emma looks wonderful! Maybe OTAS and FOTAS could start a new sideline job – Boot Camp Coaches for the Overly Fluffy. What does Pappi think of his svelt, curvaceous packmate?
Kind of glad to hear the rest of you asking who this Eve person is; we are woefully ignorant of current pop culture icons. We know very few actors names, even if we like their work. But we promise to shout YSAS name to the heavens whenever he is on a show.
10:09 am on February 8th, 2012
Oh poor Tyb. Wonder if doggies do well with cortisone shots, like cats do. Buddy is like a new cat since he got that shot.
Honestly, guys. We all should care about Eva Mendes…that was Pop’s pick for Susie Sanchez from the beginning !
10:15 am on February 8th, 2012
Okay Oley: She would make a beautiful Susie Sanchez. Can she act?
Tyb: Get better soon!
10:20 am on February 8th, 2012
Noswad, we have seen her from time to time and like her. We especially remember her as Will Smith’s co-star in Hitch.
10:49 am on February 8th, 2012
We three are up top with Franklin and Roger!
10:51 am on February 8th, 2012
That Emma was one chubby pooch! She will have a longer and happier life now. That was what happened to the two Labs that Jon Katz had – cut off in their prime from bad feeding practices.
Bear hasn’t posted yet. He is a Malinois, so he will no doubt feel a connection to Hugo.
10:59 am on February 8th, 2012
Just now got to watch that incredible YukonQuest video. Thanks for posting it, Melanie. We were inspired, and Mom actually teared up. We three who do not think we could do such a feat, spoiled as we are by the lazy life we lead. But Kat is sure she could do it. She is now writing to the Iditarod Committee to find her a team on which she can run. Silly Pipsqueak.
11:16 am on February 8th, 2012
Lead!…Looks like Lance Mackey is in the lead right now of the Yukon Quest…snort!…They are nearing the Dawson Checkpoint…sniff!….It says there is a mandatory 36 hour lay-over. Is this correct?? That seems like an awful long time….grunt!
11:16 am on February 8th, 2012
Speaking French to me? I don’t think so.
Thanks Melanie, I saw that video yesterday from their facebookie link. I love that video. They are suppose to be getting more videos up. I hope so because their videos are ususally very good.
Lance Mackey is now leading the Quest by one minute. It is a very tight race for the leading teams, but I can’t know anything for sure because their blasted tracker just plain doesn’t work.
11:21 am on February 8th, 2012
Thank you all for the get-well wishes. I hope this second antibiotic will do the trick.
Twenty years ago, when I was going computer work at a GM site, they were pumping chemicals into our office. I have struggled with my health ever since. My immune system was affected so when I get sick I get very sick and then it’s hard to get well.
11:22 am on February 8th, 2012
Checkpoint!….Actually, now that I have enlarged the map on the live tracker, they are closer to the Clinton Creek check point….sniff!…Then the Dawson checkpoint is 48 miles away… wheeze!…They have many miles to travel before they can rest….wuffle!
11:23 am on February 8th, 2012
Rio, yes, the Dawson layover is correct. The Quest does things somewhat differently than the Iditarod.
Emma looks great! We are very happy that she has found a wonderful home.
Kat could do the Iditarod!
TYB, Feel better, Buddy. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
11:24 am on February 8th, 2012
MollysMom!…What are you doing out of bed!…grunt!…Get back in there and rest, you hear!…gruffle!
11:32 am on February 8th, 2012
Nōswad (testing)
11:33 am on February 8th, 2012
You, too, Mollypop’s Mom. We hope you get to feeling better soon.
Rebecca, last night, listed more sponsors for Iditarod checkpoints. Thank all of you from the bottom of my Husky heart.
Rio, Lance held back in that race until he was ready to move up fast. That is the way the guy does things if everything is going good for him.
11:37 am on February 8th, 2012
MPM and TYB, both of youse get better soon!
Eva Mendes, for those of you who care, is an actress and model. She is a Revlon spokesperson and once did a nude anti-fur ad. One of those “Fur? I would rather go naked” billboard ads. She is of Cuban ansestory and very beautiful.
11:39 am on February 8th, 2012
We did see Rebecca’s post about all the new checkpoints now sponsored. We need a list of them in the order we will get to them when we are all in the sled with AJ and our team. Then we can hoot and hollar and howl when we hit each Plunderer’s checkpoing!
AWOOOOOO
11:40 am on February 8th, 2012
checkpoint that is. And we aren’t even on our iPaw this morning. Jeez
11:41 am on February 8th, 2012
Checkpoints!….How many checkpoints are left to sponsor for Snowhook?…sniff!…Do you know, SiberH?
11:45 am on February 8th, 2012
TYB! Sending healing thoughts your way. You are one of my heroes. Please get better soon!
MollyPop’s Mom: Hope you are feeling better today too.
O.Howlers: We do need a list of the checkpoints. Wonder how many there are? I think Rebecca has put them up on the Snookhook blog.
Melanie: Not much howling here due to overcast skies. But that means warmer temperatures, so that’s a bonus I can appreciate.
Emma does look very svelte. Good job by OTAS&FOTAS! By the big smile on her face you can see how happy she is.
Hope your BP is under control soon. The less pills we have to take the better!
Will watch the Yukon Quest video in a bit.
We were thinking Eva Mendez was one of the Desperate Housewives (which we obviously haven’t watched in forever or would know better)
Barb&Magpie: Yes, Bear is a Belgian Malinois. He doesn’t understand much French though and speaks even less.
About Katz: Continuing to wonder how someone who writes such great books take such poor care of his own dogs. Shaking our head here.
Siber-H: Now that the new Iditarod website is up and running will we still be able to see Montague #1 of the Steps? Wookie was asking about it yesterday and I don’t know how to get to it.
11:52 am on February 8th, 2012
Rio, I will try to come up with an accurate figure. I will get brave later and go to the Iditarod’s new website. Rebecca says we will adjust to it.
Bear, I think I can answer your question later in the day, also. I won’t forget, I promise.
Mom has to do a couple of errands and I will be back.
11:53 am on February 8th, 2012
I forgot to say yesterday that I have always pronounced “Noswad” with a long o also.
12:01 pm on February 8th, 2012

NŌSWAD (more testing)
12:34 pm on February 8th, 2012
Great song, Melanie.
Big news for us! We are able to watch the Iditarod Insider videos on our iPaw, which was not available in the old website. The videos on the old website required Flash, which is not available on MAC products. That’s a big WOOO HOOO from us. Now we think the new website is much better, and we feel better about our chances of keeping up when Mom and Pop are at their offices.
12:53 pm on February 8th, 2012
Love the bling, Mollypop’s Mom
1:04 pm on February 8th, 2012
Melanie: A perfect way to answer the question on all our minds.
Dawson:
Must say, like B
Did not know how
To say your name
Any other say…
I want to sponsor a checkpoint too!
Hi Rose!
Buddy: Perhaps you can convince our friend Tyb to ask his vet about the cortisone shot that has you feeling good as new.
Rio: Today is the big day. What does your tracking device say?
1:12 pm on February 8th, 2012
Tap, tap, tap. Is this thing on? Ahem… I have an important announcement to make.
As a show of gratitude for inviting me to visit Chet’s, for plotting and planning auctions, for spilling beans and breaking confidences, for rallying and for being the mastermind behind fundraising efforts on this here blog, Snowhook Kennel would like to honor Rio the Evil Pug and list him as the sponsor of the starting line checkpoint of the Ceremonial Start. The Ceremonial Start takes place in Anchorage the day before the restart in Willow.
Thank you to Rio and his friend for all you’ve done for Snowhook.
1:25 pm on February 8th, 2012
Bella: What a wonderful tribute. Congratulations Rio!!! Hip, Hip, Hurray!
1:26 pm on February 8th, 2012
We created a Word Doc of all checkpoints in order, thanks to Melanie’s song, and we listed all known sponsors. We could put that in Dishlickers if anyone interested. In the meantime, below is a list of those checkpoints that are sponsored:
Anchorage Ceremonial Start: Rio
Willow: C Harris
Rainy Pass: Siber-H
McGrath: Oley Howlers
Takotna: Anonymous for Mollypop
Ruby: Matt Keortge
Galena: Rose
Elim: Wookie of Chevy Chase
White Mountain: Betty Stover
Safety: Anonymous for Howard
1:29 pm on February 8th, 2012
Surprised!….Wow! Thank you Rebecca! This is a huge, huge, Gigantic Honor….snort!….(Does AJ the Giant know about this?)…heh!… Thank you so very much. And thank you to All the Team Members, even those on Alice’s team, for all your efforts in coming together one more time for Snowhook and giving them another boost financially and foodily to help them reach their dream of being in The Last Great Race this year!!
1:31 pm on February 8th, 2012
Maskers!…My Special Tracking Device says your mailman is on his way right now with your package….chuffle!
1:32 pm on February 8th, 2012
After watching that Why They Run video, we are worried that our team of huskies won’t have enough food. The Giant got fed. Do the huskies have enough?
1:42 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio: Waiting anxiously…..
What a GREAT video of the start of The 2012 Yukon Quest.
Thank you, Melanie.
Howlers: Please do send the Word Doc to Dish.
Wow! We are really getting rived up for the race!
1:49 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio: Congratulations on this honor!
I actually wanted to give you a shout-out myself for all your hard work and dedication in rallying the troops for Snowhook, which is such a good cause! I know your friend works just as hard, so I am doing the wave at my desk for you both!
1:51 pm on February 8th, 2012
OHs: Do you want to know a secret?
1:56 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio! Another shout-out for you! You deserve this honor for all the hard work and great ideas you have contributed. We could have done none of this without you. You are my hero!!
1:59 pm on February 8th, 2012
That is excellent Rebecca and Rio and friend deserve it.
1:59 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio: I’m glad you like the surprise! AJ’s main focus is and should be dogs right now and since you’re a dog, he is aware of the checkpoing listed in your honor.
Today is the first round of vet checks for the dogs. We’ll take 24 potential racer to Iditarod headquarters this afternoon.
Tyb: Please know I’m thinking of you. I wish a quick recovery.
Melanie: Emma is a beauty. Good for OTAS and F!
2:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
Tyb: I’ve missed you on the blog. I hope you are feeling tip-top soon. For now, take your meds, and rest up. Looking forward to seeing you on the blog again!
Rio: You sir, are my favorite pug! CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP!!!!!
2:03 pm on February 8th, 2012
And a big shout-out to OTAS and FOTAS!! You guys are terrific, and Emma is a beauty!
2:04 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio, In answer to your question…I count 23 checkpoints on the Iditarod’s map. I am counting Anchorage, Willow, and Nome in this total, but I am not sure they would count as official checkpoints. Rebecca would know.
So, There are 10 sponsored checkpoints. (Thanks Fellow Sibers for your help)
2:13 pm on February 8th, 2012
From the restart in Willow to Nome, there are 23 checkpoints. The Ceremonial Start takes place in Anchorage. It is a day for the fans. Snow is trucked onto the city streets and fans line the 11 mile run, taking photos, calling congratulations and giving high fives as teams pass. The Ceremonial Start doesn’t count in race standings, yet it is a requirement for all teams to participate. The way I look at, getting to the starting line without Rio’s help would be much more difficult, and for that, we thank him.
2:15 pm on February 8th, 2012
Bear, To answer your question…I am screaming here, not at you but at the iditarod’s website. Nowhere can I find where they have put the videos from past races. The one Wookie wants to see and I want to see again. They seem to have erased the past completely. GAH, GAH, GAH
While looking for the videos, I did find the Iditarod Message boards, so they still have them, (for now). They are calling them the Iditarod Forums.
I’ll keep looking for the videos, but I don’t think I will have any luck.
2:20 pm on February 8th, 2012
Way to go Rio! Woo! Woo! That is so very nice of Rebecca to have done, and you and your friend are certainly most deserving (Beau, maybe not so much).
Tyb — at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the other thing you may want to consider is acupuncture. It really has worked miracles for me and can do a lot to help with back or hindquarter distress.
Wookie
2:24 pm on February 8th, 2012
Melanie, this one’s for you:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0578949/
2:26 pm on February 8th, 2012
SiberH: I second your ‘Gah!’ The vidoes they show are limited and I’m already tired of seeing clips telling me how great the new website is and to subscribe to the insider. Gah, gah, and grump!
2:26 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rebecca: I’m assuming that checkpoints sponsored by Anonymous are Plunderers…..
Siber: Good news! (I think) We may have saved the infamous Steps video. Let me try it. Will be back in a minute.
2:29 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rose, we are always in search of secrets. Do tell.
2:31 pm on February 8th, 2012
Okay…I’ve taken a step back and realize I’m not good with change when it comes to AJ’s races. I’ve accepted this about myself.
Masquers: Yes, you are correct. The anonymous checkpoint sponsors are Plunderers. One Plunderer to be exact. To honor Mollypop and Howard makes my eyes leak.
2:42 pm on February 8th, 2012
We sent a spreadsheet and word doc to dishlickers, listing all of the checkpoints, in order, along with sponsor if there is one.
2:43 pm on February 8th, 2012
Bizarre!… As you guys all know I received an old tattered hard bound copy of Suds In Yer Eye all the way from Canada because for some strange reason Staff had sent Kirby her copy of the book first, even though Bear and I raised our paws first….grunt!… Well, today I was reading that old book (written in 1942) and I came to chapter 12….snort!….To my amazement I found Two! TWO mind you, four leaf clovers pressed between the pages!….wheeze!… I have never ever seen a four leaf clover, and to see two all at once was unbelievable….sniff!…. So I thought I would have my friend mail them Special Delivery to AJ so he can take them with him on The Last Great Race!….snort!snort!
2:47 pm on February 8th, 2012
Charmed!….I forgot to say that my friend says she cannot send them out tonight because her department went together and bought a bunch of PowerBall Lottery tickets and she is hoping against hope that the TWO four leaf clovers will help them all retire with about 10 million bucks a piece…snort!…After taxes…heh!
2:49 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio! Congratulations on the great honor bestowed on you by Snowhook. And how wonderful that you can send two lucky four-leaf clovers to AJ to accompany him to Nome.
Mollys Mom, we were so busy perusing the Iditarod page, we forgot to wish you a speedy recovery. Same to Tyb. We are hoping to hear from him and find out he just needed a little rest.
3:05 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rats! That didn’t work. I tried copying the link…it takes you to an Iditarod page which says:
Sorry, page not found.
No Dogs
Park Here
————->
I still have it open on my computer if anyone can figure out how to post it here. Also emailed the Iditarod folks asking for their assistance.

Rose: Now I see who Eva Mendez is…..thanks for the info.
3:08 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio: Two, count ’em two four leaf clovers? Wow! I will do my best to protect them, sealed with the photographs. AJ also carries a medallion of protection with him on the race that was given to him in 2010 by friend of the Kennel, Frank. Thank you of thinking of AJ.
3:10 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio – How wonderful! You deserve this, you huggy puggy you.
3:12 pm on February 8th, 2012
Huggy puggy! Snort!
3:23 pm on February 8th, 2012
I’ve been trying to get into the Iditarod Insider to which I have subscribed but keep getting a message about incorrect username and password. I’ve reset the password but it doesn’t help. I’ve sent them an email message asking to get onto the site or to have my subscription refunded. This is extremely irritating and they are ignoring my email.
3:25 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio, We are twirling over your good news. First the ceremonial checkpoint, then the 4-leaf clovers. You know good news is usually in threes, so maybe the lottery win will be # 3. Are you sharing with the blog? Maybe a little?
When you ship the 4-leaf clovers, can you put them in plastic? If they are over 50 years old, they might be a little brittle.
3:26 pm on February 8th, 2012
Definitely Huggy Puggy! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful (shall we wonderfluff Riö for the occasion?) wonderful tribute!
A while back I mentioned that YSAS was an extra in a movie. I can now say that movie is “Spiderman (number whatever)”. The trailer is out and if you look very carefully using a magnifying lens and then a microscope you can see him!
He in the trailer twice. Shot from 5 stories above. He’s between the white car with the hood up and a black car. He’s the cop with the flashlight.
I tried a screen grab.
3:46 pm on February 8th, 2012
Alas, I still can’t find the montage for Wookie. Yet, I did realize that they are posting the 2010 documentary that they’ve sold on DVD in the past. Under the featured video section there is the 2010 Documentary Chapter 2 option that shows AJ and the team about 6 minutes and 40 seconds into it; he talks about having Jackson checked out before moving on. The team has a brief cameo in the Chapter 1 section at the Ceremonial Start.
Melanie: I wasn’t planning on seeing Spiderman #whatever, but now I feel like I have no option not to go see it.
Rio: I’m thinking $10 million thoughts for you today!
3:55 pm on February 8th, 2012
Lottery!….The PowerBall is tonight…grunt!…So if I don’t show up on the Blog tomorrow you will know I am recovering from the big celebration in the bathtub, as per usual…heh!
3:57 pm on February 8th, 2012
Melanie, we will get the Spiderman DVD so we can play it over and over!
3:57 pm on February 8th, 2012
Melanie, I didn’t recognize him till you pointed him out!
Did anyone notice that the CBS awards show stole its name from our favorite author? Dog On It!
3:58 pm on February 8th, 2012
Stover, I think you will hear from the Insider people. I read somewhere they said to give them 24 hours to answer an email.
4:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
Uh, yeah … we’re talking a total of maybe 3 seconds here!
4:08 pm on February 8th, 2012
Okay SH. I’ll be patient.
4:22 pm on February 8th, 2012
B: Brandy is at the top!
Did you try following the link they sent you when you signed up for the Insider? I don’t know what’s going on. This whole “new” thing obviously has some glitches in it.
Rio: It’s here, the little package is here. The snowflake magnets are beautiful!!! What a great idea. The crystal in the center adds the perfect bit of bling. And, what a great business card! I must say, your friend does such a good job of packaging. You can tell she really cares about each one she sends out.
Melanie: Spider Man is now on our list of must sees!
4:32 pm on February 8th, 2012
Maskers!….Yipppeee! What a relief!….snort!…. The “business card” I put in with your order is more like a business post-card….heh!… She didn’t have time to try an figure out how to get it to print in the small business card size….sniff! ….Melanie created that card for her and she love, love, loves it!…snorkel!
4:38 pm on February 8th, 2012
Resting!….Looks like Lance Mackey and Hugh Neff are resting at the Clinton Creek Checkpoint….snort!
4:45 pm on February 8th, 2012
Standings!….Looks like Brent Sass #10, the guy in the awesome video, is in 5th place right now….snort!
4:54 pm on February 8th, 2012
Brent Sass is one of my heros that run the Quest. He has stopped more than once and helped mushers in trouble.
Lance Mackey and his dogs just set an all time speed record between Slaven’s and Eagle.
4:54 pm on February 8th, 2012
It is snowing here. It won’t amount to much, but those big snowflakes are beautiful anyway. Here is our Head Writer and Editor, Sasha.

For some reason, the picture didn’t load…here goes again.

5:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
WooooHoooo to Rio and Friend! What a wonderful and well deserved honor!
MP’sM – so sorry to hear that you are so ill. We had a friend who endured a similar situation with chemicals in her office, so we understand what you mean about when you are sick you are really sick. Our very best get well wishes to you.

And just because he is Mom’s love, here is Dima.

5:19 pm on February 8th, 2012
Stunts!….A friend of my friends, the Wrangler, just announced she had tickets to the Stunt Dog Show…heh!… Those guys are amazing! I can’t believe they can jump so high….snort!…My friend and I are wondering if they will take Beau on tour with them….chorkel!
Watch the video.

5:35 pm on February 8th, 2012
Yes MPM, it is snowing. Big flakes.
5:38 pm on February 8th, 2012
Good morning everyone, how are you all going?
There are so many interesting things on the blog today I don’t know where to go first!
Congrats to Rio, twice! Good luck on the Powerball. Get well soon Tyb I really hope you’re okay. MPM what chemicals did they pump into your office? Melanie, they were talking about the new Spiderman movie on the radio yesterday, i can’t wait to see YSAS in it.
AND there’s a Bart from down under in FOC! ! wonder where Bart lives?
5:50 pm on February 8th, 2012
Heh! Extreme Sports Canine Style
O.Howlers: Sasha and Dima wishing for snow. Meashka and Kat must be wondering why they aren’t in the photo lineup. Siber-H will be missing a picture of the Hot One.
Hi Liz! How have you been? We wondered about the chemicals in MM’s office too. Saw the Bart from down under this morning and that made us think of you. I was thinking how cool it would be if more of Chet’s international friends, like you and Cricket, would post on the blog. There are FOC from all over the world now.
5:56 pm on February 8th, 2012
Yes, Where is The Hot One? Love the photos of the Sibers in the snow.
Rio, I just watched your video. There are no Sibers or Pugs on stage. I don’t think we should give up our day jobs just yet.
6:01 pm on February 8th, 2012
Hy Bear!! Yes, true. The time difference makes it really tricky for blogging, that’s one thing. Plus a lack of baseball knowledge! Football ditto.
Eva Mendes = she’s so gorgeous, i thought you’d all know her.
6:02 pm on February 8th, 2012
All of the chemicals I was exposed to were bad bad and the stuff used in manufacturing. They were used in the building next door to my office and went up a big smokestack. OSHA required them to be a certain dilution at 65 feet, but nobody considered when the wind blew and they came right into the air intake over my office. My company, EDS, was doing computing for GM. The GM employees were moved as soon as they started getting sick, but not us. I managed to get relocated but the damage was done. I went back to a meeting in the old building, sat down, and the blood started flowing out of my nose. (I never got nosebleeds.) I walked out and never went back.
6:22 pm on February 8th, 2012
The Iditarod Insider got back to me and gave me a temporary password. I’ll set it up tomorrow.
6:33 pm on February 8th, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom: Have any of you ever tried to get compensation from the liable company? This just isn’t right.
6:35 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rio: An Awesome Honor and well deserved.
Wow! You wonderful Plunderers have been very busy sponsoring checkpoints!
All right, Mollypop’s Mom: I know you are sick so I will forgive you your playing around with the long “o” mark but…in REALITY… the accent is on the second syllable, the O is pronounced as in the word nozzle and the whole name would rhyme with Assad. Mettez ca dans votre pipe et fumez!
6:48 pm on February 8th, 2012
MollyPop’s Mom: Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. Hope you are feeling tip-top soon.
Rio: Good things come in three’s! Good luck to you and your friend.
OHs: Getting back to my secret…And Masquers, my friend, since you are the kurious kat you are, (whispering here…the anonymous sponsor of the two checkpoint sites is……..)
6:51 pm on February 8th, 2012
Nos(e)wad – I know you’re going easy on me because you don’t want to be attacking a poor sick person (who speaks French) – so va te faire cuire an oeuf.
6:53 pm on February 8th, 2012
Oh now I’m cracking myself up and have a coughing attack. This must all be Nos(e)wad’s fault, I’m sure.
7:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
Hey, y’all! Mom just got home with enough time to walk me and do a little straightening and get caught up on the blog, but now she has to go over to the church for a council meeting. So off goes the computer. 🙁 Meanwhile, here’s a quick “feel better” to all you sickies, and “congratulations” to all who deserve it. And “hi!” to everyone else!
See youse guys later! Try not to have any fun while I’m gone, OK?
7:04 pm on February 8th, 2012
Mollypop’s mom: I cannot believe you said that. No I ca-an’t!
7:08 pm on February 8th, 2012
Oh you guys. Molly’s Mom tells me that all the time.
7:08 pm on February 8th, 2012
I got the first one, but not sure why the second!
7:11 pm on February 8th, 2012
Mpm: Oh…you want me to cook an egg. I thought you were saying suck an egg! You know I would cook you an egg in a minute (or three) if I was there. Now get back to bed. You are a difficult patient.
7:13 pm on February 8th, 2012
Hey all. Thinking of you MPM and Tyb. Congrats Rio and friend. A worthy honor.
7:18 pm on February 8th, 2012
Masquers and OHs: Me….
7:35 pm on February 8th, 2012
Perhaps the reason I don’t understand what FOM George is trying to say is that he is speaking in French?
He certain is trying to say something.
Hmmm, why would MPM want Noswad to cook her an egg?
7:54 pm on February 8th, 2012
MPM, having a nosebleed like that sounds really frightening. I hope they compensated everyone there – thank goodness you never went back.
Hi Dawson! Nothing to report here yet…
8:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rose, you are such a wonderful and generous person. Thank you for sharing that and thanks soooooo much for helping our team. We are all forever in your debt.
8:16 pm on February 8th, 2012
Melanie: Mollypop’s mom likes eggs. I don’t really understand French so I hope that is what she is saying. Heh.
Liz! I sent you a card last Wednesday, but as I got called into work suddenly that morning, I slapped what I thought was enough postage. It wasn’t. Sheesh. Still, by Thursday the check was in the mail. And now, maybe I should tell everyone. I’m getting a Dorg! Like a Bart from Down Under type dorg! I’m very excited. WhoooHooo! Liz has something to do with this. It’s her Dorg (No, of course not Cricket…she would never!). She posted a picture of Dorg a long time ago and I fell in love with him.
Rio: Thank Dorg it was 4 leaf clovers you found. Occasionally I put money in books I like…for safe keeping you know.
Oh, Rose: Hugs!
8:16 pm on February 8th, 2012
Hey Dawson, i spoke too soon! the postie has just been and the dorg is packing his bags…
8:17 pm on February 8th, 2012
And I’m looking out for the chubby thief!!
8:42 pm on February 8th, 2012
Noswad is getting a Gord. I’m wiping a tear …
TTFN
Hi Liz!
8:48 pm on February 8th, 2012
LizF: Really!!!Oh my Dorg! Oh my Dorg! Oh my Dorg!
8:49 pm on February 8th, 2012
Hi Melanie and nighty-night.
Yeah! hooray!! Dorg’s very excited about seeing the snow.
9:02 pm on February 8th, 2012
Okay, I’ve calmed down slightly. Here is the caption by my new dorg:
“Me an me dorg ‘ave tramped together, in cold weather an’ ‘ot. Me an me dorg don’t give a bugger, whether we works or not.”
I am getting me dorg as a retirement present for myself. Yes, I am going to join B.Stover and T&G’s mum. ‘Course T&G’s mum is not really retired – she’s just retired from CLL – she’s working hard in clay. My final day is April 6th, a Good Friday.
9:05 pm on February 8th, 2012
Dorg!…I’m confused…sniff!
9:08 pm on February 8th, 2012
I found a couple Lisa Scottoline novels at the library so I’m going to go read and relax.
Melanie: You make me laugh! That would be a good name…
9:08 pm on February 8th, 2012
That makes two of us. I have no idea what they have been going on about…sometimes in French.
9:11 pm on February 8th, 2012
My post should be right above Zippy’s.
9:15 pm on February 8th, 2012
Okay…Since I can’t get a flesh and blood dog…I am buying one of LizF’s pieces of Art. “Me and me Dorg”.
9:17 pm on February 8th, 2012
Molly’s Mom has the picture of the Dorg that Liz posted a long time ago. Is that the same one everyone is talking about?
9:17 pm on February 8th, 2012
Dawson!…Very Kool!…snort!
9:22 pm on February 8th, 2012
I actually sent her a check a long time ago (along with my version of Wolfie’s toffee) but that was before I got the anti marauding goat charm from T&G’s mum and … well…the goats got it. This is the 2nd attempt and the anti goat charm worked like a…you know.
Sam: Yes, that’s it. It is also on her website. There is a purple back ground and Dorg is framed in orange.
9:26 pm on February 8th, 2012
There!
I’m back to Dawson. At least you guys and dogs know how to pronounce it. Heh.
Before I go I have to check if the mushers are into Dawson yet.
9:27 pm on February 8th, 2012
We just finished vet checks a bit ago of 24 race hopefully. Blood work, microchips, heart monitoring and one bloody nose—AJs, not mine. Frank head butted him and knocked off his hat to boot—AJ didn’t miss a beat. He lifted frank onto his shoulder and kept walking.
One out of the twenty-four dogs chosen as a hopeful today was a bit of a surprise. It seems Junior has been paying attention and training hard. He was tested and poked today along with his other teammates. 😉
Rose: Now that the Kat is out of the bag I can thank you publicly for your generosity and support of the kennel. That you would honor Mollypop and Howard in such a way warms the cockles of my heart and I’m pretty particular about who gets close to them.
Emosewa Noswad: Excellent! I’ve always thought you work too hard. Does this mean we are in for another retirement party?
9:31 pm on February 8th, 2012
Dawson – at long last Mama can say CONGRATS on this here blog! (keeping that secreet was killing her!) Whaddya say you, Bee and Mama get together to dis former employers and enumerate the many joys of retirement.
AND congrats on the Dorg too! We love Liz’s art.
(whispering – and Dawson, I don’t think MP’sM was giving you a recipe….just sayin’)
9:37 pm on February 8th, 2012
Yes, Dawson, That is cool! Everything makes sense now. (more or less)
Rose, Bless you for generosity and thoughtfulness. Molllypop and Howard are a part of this race and our hearts.
This is exciting news about Junior. You go guy!!
9:40 pm on February 8th, 2012
Whoa!…This has been a big day for surprises and revelations…snort!…. MollyMom, it seems like you should be compensated for all your pain and suffering…sniff!…Is it too late to pursue anything now? Did you and other employees try back then? It is all so unfair….grump!
Rose!… You! For some reason I was thinking it was Spencer and Admin who were the anonymous donors….grunt!…I should have known better!…heh!
Dawson!…Retiring? Oh my gosh! Once that happens she will be on the blog all the damn time…sniff!…Dawson, did you put the 2 four leaf clovers in that book?….wuffle!
JUNIOR!…Oh my Dawg! Rio Junior might be on the A-Team? Is this what you are telling us Rebecca???….snort!snort!….All too much to take in right now…Wow!
9:42 pm on February 8th, 2012
Have I got this right? Dawson is retiring
I have only absorbed half of this so far…the part about Liz’s art.
Mom says I have spent too much time on the internet today,
I’m off to check on the Quest.
9:43 pm on February 8th, 2012
Whst Lisa Scottoline books did you get, Dawson, or whatever you want to be called these days? Do Dawson and Noswad have different personalities?
10:03 pm on February 8th, 2012
Wow!
Junior! Has come a long way in a very short time.
Rio: The clovers were in there when I got the book.
Barb and Maggie: Legal Tender and Running From The Law.
10:10 pm on February 8th, 2012
I have spent an hour catching up on the blog. I got sidetracked by all the video links.
TYB honey, I hope you feel better soon. I hope they figure out what it is.
MPM same thing, poor baby.
RIO, congratulations and you deserve the honor! WOOOHOOOO
DAWSON, You have left a lot of books here. Should I go through them all??? heh heh heh.
I am proud of everyone who is sponsoring one (or more) checkpoints, dogs, booties or food! We are all GREAT!
I know I have left things out, but hopefully you all will forgive me.
I hope everyone who needs comfort can get in the quilt tonight.
10:19 pm on February 8th, 2012
Staff: No!
10:19 pm on February 8th, 2012
Well, today seems to be a day of disclosures, so here goes.
Dad is going to be holding prayers for AJ and the Team every night of the Iditarod until they cross the finish line. He has gotten in touch with folks from his reservation, folks from my reservation, and various and sundry medicine people around the country. Every night at 9 pm,eastern time, there will be tobacco sent up in prayer all around the country.
Of course the Plunderers are most welcome to join in. We all know the power that generates.
10:25 pm on February 8th, 2012
We are going to crawl under the quilt, too. Not for any special reason, just because it so warm and welcoming under there. And some of our BILG friends will always be there. Night all.
10:29 pm on February 8th, 2012
DAwson! Hmmmmmmm snicker.
Did you get that “Suds in Your Eye” book from me? I used to have a trifollium repens that often had 4 leaves and I would tuck them in books. I bought it from a nursery in Duluth many years ago, but it has since died. (Those darn North Dakota winters) So maybe….but I don’t remember giving you that book at all.
So maybe not.
10:30 pm on February 8th, 2012
Rose: Thanks for letting the kat out of the bag. I already knew you were wonderful, but this is beyond generous! In memory of Howard and MollyPop and another checkpoint too. Wow!
Rio: Junior racing in the Iditarod! You must be so proud.
Dawson: Congrats on your new Dorg and upcoming retirement!
Liz: I checked out your website to see Dawson’s new acquisition. The art pieces are extraordinary. I want to go back later when I have more time to see everything.
This day has been one big exclamation point, with one piece of exciting news after another. Now all we need is for one of us to hit the big one…..Rio?
10:37 pm on February 8th, 2012
T&G That is wonderful news! I love it! We will be joining in.
Medicine people all around the country! Folks, It doesn’t get any better than this. WOO WOO AJ and the dogs will have a lot of powerful medicine traveling with them on the trail.
10:42 pm on February 8th, 2012

Mr Husky, for you…
10:43 pm on February 8th, 2012
Big!…Well, lets just say, if the Big One is indeed hit tonight, there will be a huge party and the whole Blog will be invited…snort!…Transportation and accomodatons will most definitely be paid for out of my new treat budget…chorkel!
Twins!…We’ve been watching Nova and the separation of twins who were joined at the Brain!…zow!
10:57 pm on February 8th, 2012
Thanks Staff, Those are excellent photographs…some of the best.
11:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
Sure wish one of you techies could figure out how to send/save the Music Montague #1 from the old Iditarod site. We did want Wookie to see it. It’s on my computer, but I don’t know for how long. The link now goes to the new site. They have also removed the videos from You Tube.
Staff: Love those Huskies!
btw…that link Mr Staff sent you last night was a good one.
T&G: We are in for the prayer-time. It is a wonderful thing you do.
11:00 pm on February 8th, 2012
T&G: I am at the laundry mat, catching up on the blog and I can’t stop the tears. As I was driving here after vet checks today I was thinking about what it means to be the wife of a musher. This time of year brings with it a lot of excitement, a lot of sleepless nights, a long to do list and worry— the kind that makes my stomach twist and clench if I dwell on what might or might not happen on the trail. To have the Storyteller reach out to others on Snowhook’s behalf is overwhelming as is the idea that the Plunderers will join in. We are of different faiths, yet we are of the same intention. Thanks you so much. You have eased the worry in my heart.
11:07 pm on February 8th, 2012
Bella – chocolate chips can help a lot with that too.
11:09 pm on February 8th, 2012
I can’t stay awake any long waiting for the first musher to arrive in Dawson. I’ll find out tomorrow after the dog park, but I predict it will be Lance Mackey.
What a special, fun, happy day, for us on the blog. I’m believing that Rio’s friend could hit the jackpot.
TYB and Mollypop’s Mom, Hope you feel better soon.
Night All
11:11 pm on February 8th, 2012
T&G: I suspect the same is true of juicy pear jelly bellies on a much smaller scale.
11:19 pm on February 8th, 2012
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Rio’s friend wins and we can add another to the list of retired Plunderers! Can you imagine the increase is Rio’s treat budget? Beau might even get a bed that is less cold and less hard.
11:19 pm on February 8th, 2012
Off to watch a DVD.
Good night everyone.
11:21 pm on February 8th, 2012
Goodnight all.
11:21 pm on February 8th, 2012
Bella – those sound wonderful – never had them, but almost anything pear works for us.
Oh, and chili cheese fritos are good too. And root beer floats. Oh dear, there goes our girlish figure…..
11:31 pm on February 8th, 2012
Sorry to me MIA, but mom has not been around to log me on. She has a “job”. She is taking orders for Valentine’s Day flowers. Wow, a lot of people have a lot of money to spend on flowers.
Siber H, today mom took 2 orders for a lady in Santa Fe. She really wanted to tell her that she had a friend in the more or less area, but she remained ahem, professional.
Would you like to add a balloon, chocolates or a teddy bear to that order? Perhaps chocolate dipped strawberries or a freakin $50 monkey that sings “Signed, sealed, delivered” (so far no takers on the monkey, snicker)
So now we are off to bed so dad and I can get mom off to work on time. Our favorite arrangement is “PS, I Love You”. Oh and we have to tell you about a man mom talked to today. To his wife of 28 years he wanted the card to read ‘ from Al Baker’. Surely after 28 years she knows him as just Al!!
11:46 pm on February 8th, 2012
Macy – that is too funny – from Al Baker.
Hmmm – maybe he was afraid that one of her other husbands named Al would get the credit for his monkeyless roses.
Bella – hope you are about done folding and fluffing and will be heading for home. Sleep well.
We’re heading for bed too. G’night all
12:07 am on February 9th, 2012
So many wonderful happenings today; it makes my heart sing.
I am awed by the goodness you all have shown.
Commander Rio, you are amazing and wonderful!
TYB and Mollypop, I hope you feel better soon.
Congrats to Dawson!
Did anyone notice the big beautiful moon tonight? Hey, I wonder if the Giant will be racing under a full moon?
I am going to see if I can log on to the Insider.
TTFN
12:17 am on February 9th, 2012
Congrats to Rio for his special honor. He has done much for Snowhook and this blog. I also want to give a special kudos to Siber-H who educated the Plunderers on the Iditarod and pointed us to the Snowhook Kennel to follow and to help.
12:18 am on February 9th, 2012
Hi-Bye, Wolfie.
Macy: That is great news about the job. It may not be your ideal job, but it sounds like you’re being entertained by the customers. I have been known to close a letter to AJ as ‘Cordially yours,’
12:44 am on February 9th, 2012
Macy, that Al Baker story is so cute! T&G, sending up tobacco at 9pm, how cool. I wonder what time that is here?
12:46 am on February 9th, 2012
Charris: Here, here! Siber-H is a sled dog at heart.
6:28 am on February 9th, 2012
We are up early and Mom is already hard at work. But we managed to catch up on all we missed last night. Wow. Prayers and tobacco while AJ is on The Trail. Dawson retiring. Macy and Al Baker. Rose’s revelation. Rio’s special honor (and lottery win?) and on and on and on. What a big day and night!
