Envy (Part Two)

A big problem for me right now is that Bernie doesn’t wear bedroom slippers. Neither did Leda when she lived here. This was before the divorce. Now Leda’s gone, and so is Charlie, except for some weekends and holidays. Charlie’s Bernie’s kid and we miss him a lot, but he didn’t wear bedroom slippers either. Someone over at Iggy’s place wears them because he’s got one in his mouth right now and he’s shaking it in the window. The way he’s shaking it says to me one thing and one thing only: I’ve got a bedroom slipper and you don’t.

“Chet! Knock it off!”

Why doesn’t anyone in my life wear bedroom slippers? My only experience with bedroom slippers happened when Bernie’s mom came for a visit. She’s a piece of work! And that new husband! But the visit didn’t go well, and now that I remember it, bedroom slippers might have been part of the problem.

Oh my, those bedroom slippers can be such a problem.

Slippers here don't last long. We have to put them away as soon as we take them off. In fact, we have to put most everything away when we're done with it. Just ask Struggling Actor Son, who decided that leaving his cell phone in reach of dogs was a good thing.

You would have figured that he'd learn after the first one went missing. But no, it took a second AND losing his insurance. (Snicker)

We did find the first one. . . after the snow melted. Ros (she and SAS are best buddies) had tried pushing the buttons. It didn't work. I framed it and gave it to him for Christmas.

Soooo, Chet, how do you at answering cell phones? Can you dial? Did you do this already and my brain has fried and I don't remember?

Well, Rio, BStover will put me right.

I KNEW Admin was going for the Red Sox. We're jinxed for sure.

Okay everyone – This book discussion is a snap. On Facebook there is already a Chet Appreciation Society. Within that there is a tab for Discussions. We can open a new tab for each book we want to discuss.

Rio and those who want to remain dogs and Kats – just set up a Facebook profile with your info and a picture. The picture will go with each comment that is made. Very cool.

So what book? I'll kick it off.

    B. – All set.

Everyone: Go to http://www.facebook.com and search for chet. The Chet Appreciation Society will come up. Click on Discussions then on Book – The Tutor. You will see a picture of my Mom, cleverly disguised with snow.

Each new discussion should be started with the word "Book – " so all discussions will sort together.

Mom has read The Tutor, Nerve Damage, Oblivion and Down the Rabbit Hole, in that order. The Echo Falls series is supposed to be for "young adults" but Mom is definitely not a young adult, and she really enjoyed Rabbit Hole. Now ordering the next 2 in the series. DTRH is similar to The Tutor – both have savey young girls as the main characher. Main difference is language and violence are toned down, neither of whick distracts from the story line. All in all, a great read for all ages.

My three PA books are wrapped in plastic and put in a box until the room is painted. Must wait on those. BUT, The Tutor has just come in.

Won't start it tonight, because then I'll stay up and read.

The Pack gets mad when I do that. There are the right ways to do things and going to bed when they think I should go is one of them.

They do not approve of late nights!

I'll meet you guys there after a few days. Doing a lot of work, and not much time to play. Getting tired of photoshop!

Great job, Mollypop! My copy of The Tutor should come today also! I'll meet up with everyone just as soon as I'm done.

I'm not one much for chewing, unless you count Salmon treats and Chicken jerky. But my best friend Sam chewed up everything, including but not limited to a (very expensive)couch – Mom was REALLY upset!, an ipod, two cell phones, six library books, Teva sandels, seven couch pillows, and a comforter. Did I mention that Sam was a yellow lab?

Chet, I hate to say it, but I don't think I feel sorry for you! Iggy has such a sad life, no riding shotgun, no perps, no racing down the canyon or cavorting with Princesses. So, maybe it's okay for him to have a little old slipper, don't you think?

No? Well, there's nothing wrong with wanting it all!

Could the bedroom slipper be a clue – or a cry for help for Iggy's people who may not be well? Oh no! Chet, you need to get right over there and check it out. Or, keep barking and get Bernie to see what is happening.

Did I hear the mention of Salmon treats? Yummy. Mom can take me to the pet store tomorrow.

Sam is quite an accomplished Lab. That might be some sort of world's record. This is worse than my dear friend, Molly, ever dreamed of doing. I'm not telling Molly. It might give her ideas, and she gets into enough trouble as it is.

Rio, I'm glad you warned people about the warped sense of humor needed for "Their Wildest Dreams". I don't know what it says about you and I that we thought it was so funny.

Rio; I was afraid to answer your question because I knew I'd give something away. SPOILER ALERT

Yes, lol, I did appreciate the duct tape and chainsaw scene. There is a line in that book, "Tell Me About Whiskers", that caused me to fall of the chair laughing. I thought the whole cat thing was funny, not what happened to the cat, but the rest of it. It has actually been awhile since I read that book. I'm going to read it again.

I just finished "End of Story"–very good, but different. A lot of PA's books are different from one another. I appreciate the fact that in his books you never know what is coming around the corner at you. Tony Hillerman, for instance, love him and his books, but you always knew exactly what to expect from him.

Of course, I love our funny, adorable boy, Chet. He's my very favorite. Those books are right on when it comes to getting what being a dog is all about.

That's what we did today, Blue and Mom. We've always stayed under the radar, not comfortable with online "stuff". All facebook will have is your new email address. Sorry to get here late tonight but Mom had work and then tonight is volunteer night at the shelter.

We joined Facebook a couple of months ago to keep track of the nieces and nephews but didn't add any peronal information so we aren't getting any weird connections. But we aren't real comfortable there and really enjoy your discussions on this site.

I'm sure we could get used to that website for book discussions but don't really feel the need to go anywhere but here. So Rio and SiberH, keep us posted on the PA books and let's face it, NOTHING beats Chet's daily posts!

We don't think anything is wrong over at Iggy's. Just like Chet says…he has a slipper and Chet doesn't!!

We're going to hop over to F/B just to check on Mollypop and B.Stover and maybe find out that release date. However, we don't believe Spence would tell them before letting Chet tell us here on his blog.
