Emotional Urination?
“Did you just write the heading I think you wrote?” Spence says.
“I sure did,” says Admin. “Check out this link to the Philly Inquirer for more.”
“You’re in a good mood today.”
“Why wouldn’t I be? No more robocalls, no more poltical ads. None of that would have ever happened, by the way, if Washington had accepted a kingship.”
“Well, but … “
Welcome Joe.

What a heading.
Good morning all.
8:29 am on November 11th, 2012
Hmm, Kingship? Nah, we still need our Empress B!
“Emotional Urination” . . pondering . . if I remember correctly I’ve seen a different name for that. Have to ask Zoe, but I’m upstairs and she’s downstairs and my throat not only hurts, but I’ve lost my voice.
Will ask her soon.
8:35 am on November 11th, 2012
Just read the rest of last night comments. I see the Awesome Dawson has written about The Raven’s checkpoint.
I have to tell you when she first wrote to us about this, Zoë and I had a cryfest. What a beautiful thing to do . . We’re still tearing up when we think about it.
Thank you Awesome Noswad Dawson.

Happy Sunday. This morning, Pop made our breakfast while Mom was still fast asleep. No egg. 🙁
8:59 am on November 11th, 2012
Happy Veterans Day.
And since Pop is a vet, we decided to forgive him today.
9:49 am on November 11th, 2012
Mom went to a boutique yesterday and bought some of the most adorable hand painted tole Christmas ornaments that you have ever seen! More donations for our Holiday Boutique!
9:49 am on November 11th, 2012
Good morning all.
Melanie, I think the phrase you are searching for might be submissive peeing. That’s is what Barb calls it.
Weather is great here this morning, but it is going to be a rollercoaster. Dropping temps, wind, and cold rain. Just in time for the Bear’s game that Josh and Jessica are attending later today.
10:32 am on November 11th, 2012
Dear Veterans and Families – we thank you for the service you have given to this country. You offered up your body and soul as proof of your love for this land and her people. Many came home with wounds, both visible and not. Many did not come home, and the wounds were born by their families. Some came home unscathed, but none came home unchanged.
We thank you veterans, no matter if you served in battle on the front lines, or if you served from the shores of this country, lending support to those overseas.
As you move through this day, maybe going to a parade, maybe watching old war movies or maybe just in silent contemplation, please remember that we do thank you, we honor you and we respect what you have done for us all.
Happy and Honored Veterans’ Day to all of you
10:54 am on November 11th, 2012
T & G – beautifully said.
11:19 am on November 11th, 2012
T&G You said it way better than I could. Thank you to all our veterans! We love and appreciate you.
If any of you haven’t done so yet, please read Dawson’s post last night about Raven’s checkpoint.
It is going to be heavenly here today…a high of only 40 degrees. That will set a new record for this date.
11:35 am on November 11th, 2012
T & G, Thank you so much for your beautiful and eloquent words.
12:01 pm on November 11th, 2012
T&G – Amen.
1:12 pm on November 11th, 2012
Veteran!…Today is Beau’s sixth birthday….snort!…He celebrated by pooping on the living room rug sometime during the night….grunt!…Luckily for him, my friend found it and cleaned it up before her mother saw it…wheeze!…So it looks like he will be allowed to survive his birthday…heh!heh!
1:14 pm on November 11th, 2012
Snow!…It snowed like crazy last night. Seems Beau hates snow as much as I do and this may have been part of the reason for the inside poop…grunt!…Someone says we still will not be telling her mother…wuffle!
1:21 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rio, We won’t tell and I can understand why you little guys hate snow.
I am sooo jealous…no snow here.
2:01 pm on November 11th, 2012
Thanks to our Veteran’s and for T&G’s mom for putting our thoughts into such touching words.
Checkpoint Update:
The Raven’s checkpoint is more than halfway funded and has spin-offs: Lucia has identified a need for a checkpoint for friends and family of Plunderers who have gone before us. With the memory of my dear brother Chris in my mind, I thank her for supplying the seed money to start Memorial Checkpoint-2 legged and, since she was extremely generous we also will start a Memorial Checkpoint-4 legged for those of us who have friends and family who have gone over the Rainbow Bridge.
So in summary:
Raven’s checkpoint – more than halfway funded;
Memorial checkpoint – 2 legged – open for donations;
Memorial checkpoint – 4 legged – open for donations.
We will let Rebecca and AJ pick the checkpoints, if no objections.
2:09 pm on November 11th, 2012
T&G: Your words are beautiful. I am grateful for those who have served and do serve our country.
Happy birthday to Beau! And, happy belated birthday to Patsy!
I’m not naming names, but enthusiastic urination has been known to happen in the kennel. I wonder if Beau is an enthusiastic pooper.
2:12 pm on November 11th, 2012
Emotional, not enthusiastic. Gah!
Dawson: I cannot get over the generosity of the Plunderers. What a great way to honor those we love and miss.
2:13 pm on November 11th, 2012
Birthdays!…Hey Beau’s birthday is one day apart from Patsy’s and My Birthday is one day apart from Melanie’s…heh!heh!
2:14 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rebecca!…You had it right the first time. Beau is an enthusiasic pooper…grunt!…The higher he can poop on something the happier he is…sniff!
2:16 pm on November 11th, 2012
Dawson!…That is Awesome!….Woooooo!
2:22 pm on November 11th, 2012
Judging from the quantity of yellow stains on the snow piles in the driveway, I have an enthusiastic urinator in the neighborhood.
Happy birthday to Beau! Thanks to your friend you may enjoy this day.
3:56 pm on November 11th, 2012
Still under the quilt here. T&G, beautiful said. Dawson, thank you again. Wow, the Plunderers are wonderful.
At some point I will be posted a picture that Zoe put on Facebook of her father. A Decorated Veteran of WWI.
Now I have to lie down again.
4:06 pm on November 11th, 2012
All limits are off!
I have been educated today to the fact that Plunderers don’t like limits. So…since it is utterly unenforceable and nearly universally ignored…my plea for $10. limits to donations is retracted and Rio’s plea for no limits on donations will prevail.
Siber H: It has been proved by your donation that Sibers don’t listen – times two. You not only over-donated but then you doubled down. I am asking to take half of your donation and start a new checkpoint for SiberH & friends. This is a win-win situation for you…you leave a little room for those Plunderers who might want to donate to the Raven’s checkpoint and you create a whole new checkpoint in the name of the Siber that introduced us all to the thrills and chills of the greatest race, the Iditarod. Please give us the thumbs up because there is a line waiting to donate to this checkpoint.
🙂 The Retirees Checkpoint 🙂
Another over-donator, a retiree, (retirees do whatever they want) has agreed to use half her generous donation to start up the Retirees checkpoint. (I won’t name names but I will say that she will mind your “p’s and q’s”.)This checkpoint is now open for donations.
4:10 pm on November 11th, 2012
Just a quick check-in from here in Chevy Chase. Temperatures in the 70’s today (a little warm for me, truth be told), and mom and dad had this brilliant idea of giving me a bath today. I voted against it, but, alas, this is not a dogmocracy so I lost and got bathed to boot!
Your somewhat cleaner and less aromatic Wookie
4:27 pm on November 11th, 2012
Checkpoints. Youse guys better leave one checkpoint for Sasha and her Beloved Misha Moonman.
4:36 pm on November 11th, 2012
Greetings!
Happy birthday, Beau!
Hi, Rio!
T&G , you always manage to say things so beautifully! You brought tears to my eyes.
On this Veteran’s day, I would like to thank all those who fought for the love of this country and our freedom. You are the true heroes of the world.
4:39 pm on November 11th, 2012
Dawson, I honestly don’t know what I did or how I did it when I was donating on Snowhook’s website. Please just take what you don’t want to use of it for Raven’s checkpoint and put the rest toward the other Plunderer checkpoints that are mentioned in an above post. Divide it as you see fit.
Have I mentioned before that I hate math? (along with some technology)
Mom has already promised me that I can have my own checkpoint again this year. She says it will be my Christmas present.
Mom is laughing and agreeing with your statement that Sibers don’t listen. I’ll have her remember that the last two times she has called me to come in the house from the yard, I have done so.
(Christmas is coming)
4:46 pm on November 11th, 2012
Dawson, Let me know if my plan to divide it as you see fit works for you.
Beau, Happy Birthday pal. You should get a free pass on everything today.
Melanie, Yes, please, a picture of the World War I Veteran, Zoe’s
father. We have read a lot about World War I this past year.
4:52 pm on November 11th, 2012
The Plunderers are proving once again what an amazing group they are!
Beau, please try to stay out of trouble! You could end up on her mom’s short list!
4:56 pm on November 11th, 2012
SiberH!….You need to start a Rockies checkpoint…snort!snort!…Just for Beau, the Broncos won by a bunch today!…Woooo!
5:02 pm on November 11th, 2012
That is what happens when SiberH gets ahold of the credit card – his big paws double click the donation button. Accepted! Sibers are not the only ones who don’t listen. Some of us also read every other word and so:
🙂 The SiberH & friends checkpoint is now open for donations! 🙂
Rebecca: How many checkpoints are there for the 2013 Iditarod? Because I know some other dogs and cats would like to put their name on a checkpoint. I could maintain a checkpoint registry wherein for a $25. minimum initial donation you get to put the name of your choice on a checkpoint and I will collect pledges until they are fully funded.
For now I have to go do some snow shoveling and then it’s naptime.
5:06 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rio, Glad the Broncos won! Wish we could get a few of the Rockies to donate toward a checkpoint. That would be peanuts to ballplayers.
You do realize the only ones on the blog that would donate for a Rockies checkpoint would be you and I.
5:13 pm on November 11th, 2012
Siber – Natasha vould also help sponson checkpoint for Rocks, if means they vill vin series of vorld next year.
dum DUM dadum
dum DUM dadum….
5:21 pm on November 11th, 2012
Natasha, That is very generous of you, but Rio and I cannot guarantee you the Rockies will make it to the World Series next year. We wish!
5:25 pm on November 11th, 2012
Woo Wee! I step a away from the blog for a short while and Dawson has her sleeves rolled up and her calculator is smoking. It must be manufactured by the same make of the RNG. Below is a list of the 2013 checkpoints; this year teams will run the southern route. AJ perfers the northern route.

5:34 pm on November 11th, 2012
WOO WOO This is exciting…to see all the names of the checkpoints once again!
5:51 pm on November 11th, 2012
Bella,
Please tell us which checkpoint for Sasha and her ever-loyal moonman.
5:57 pm on November 11th, 2012
Howlers: Last year, AJ posted on the blog on Valentine’s Day. In that post, he mentioned that the starting line is difficult because it means he is leaving me. He then wrote of an invisible line, much farther down the trail, he seems to cross where he knows he is heading back to me and we will be reunited. This line seems to vary each year, but usually happens shortly before or after the Kaltag checkpoint. Does this seems like it would be a suitable checkpoint for Sasha and her Moonman?
6:05 pm on November 11th, 2012
Bella, If I use pay the pal do I use your kennel name at gmail.com for the address? I have forgotten since last year.
6:11 pm on November 11th, 2012
Staff: I’m not sure at what point you need to enter our address. Below is the link that is on our blog:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=0geziSckJNz_1W1GDvhsn2hR_VDaDy_VxZSajIJ5pQ8nLPguXiMMfS2_zYS&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8d0b7e678a25d883d0fa72c947f193f8fd
Let me know if it works.
6:11 pm on November 11th, 2012
Wow, again . .
This is what Zoë said, My Dad, Harold G. McKey, was a Captain in WW1. He fought in France and earned the Croix de Guerre and the Distinguished Service Cross ..also a Purple Heart when that arrived in WW2. He was a good man! Zoe
I’m adding the following . . Grandfather was a 1st Lieutenant at this time. This is from
the book “Heroes All”.
For extraordinary heroism in action at Romagne, France, October 13-14, 1918. When his company commander was wondered, Lieutenant McKey took command of the company. Although wounded and weakened by the loss of blood, he refused to be evacuated but continued in command of his man for 32 hours under sever machine-gun and artillery fire, until the town of Romagne was taken, remaing in action until order to the rear.
The men and women of all our wars and other deployments are worthy of all our love and strength.
Can you guess who YSAS son is named for?
6:21 pm on November 11th, 2012
YSAS’ name has a wonderful legacy. Thank you for sharing this with us, Melanie.
Stay under the quilt unil you feel better. Tenzing is bringing reinforcments. What he calls reinforcements, we call refreshments.
6:35 pm on November 11th, 2012
Bella, will you please sneak in something besides the frozen fish and the Slim Jim’s?
I have just finished the Bart’s Homemade Ginger Ice Cream. Felt good. Why am I thinking of Bill Cosby?
6:36 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie: That is a great picture of your grandfather. What a brave soldier (and very handsome in his uniform).
Snowbella: Will you choose the checkpoints for the 2 legged and the 4 legged and the Retirees. And SiberH. He needs a checkpoint that doesn’t have water so you and he can confer over that checkpoint.
6:41 pm on November 11th, 2012
Checkpoint!…Whatever youse do, do not give Beau a checkpoint…snort!….Remember all the trouble the Giant had getting to Beau’s checkpoint last year…wheeze!….Don’t want to chance it again this year…sniff!
6:42 pm on November 11th, 2012
Clarkson!….He is special in so many ways…sniff!…Dawg bless his great great grandpa…snorkel!
6:44 pm on November 11th, 2012
I think YSAS even looks like his great grandfather. What a great pic, Melanie!
6:48 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie!…Don’t you have a photo of Clarkson in his WWII outfit?…snort!…You should post it too…chuffle!
6:54 pm on November 11th, 2012
Thank You, Melanie. The Veterans from World War I are so often forgotten…just like the war itself
6:57 pm on November 11th, 2012
Dawson, As long as the water is frozen, like the Yukon and Norton Sound, I am okay with water.
7:00 pm on November 11th, 2012
Here you go, Riö . .
7:06 pm on November 11th, 2012
At the ww2 memorial in Washington, there is a wall of stars. Every time another 1000 ww2 veterans die they add another star. This year it’s my Dad’s turn.

7:14 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie, that is a wonderful picture of your father.
7:16 pm on November 11th, 2012
Terry, Thanks for the photo. I didn’t know about the stars.
7:18 pm on November 11th, 2012
Terry: Thank you for posting the picture. Thanks to your dad, as well.
7:19 pm on November 11th, 2012
War!…Why do so many good men die too soon?…sniff!…I just watched a season of Damages where I finally realized as long as War is Big Bucks for the evil Movers and Shakers, there will be war…wuffle!
7:20 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie!…Amazing photos!….wheeze!
7:25 pm on November 11th, 2012
Pancho and Lefty: Since my very best pug friend likes it, and I do too, I choose Ramblin’ Rose. That was the name of a great Nat King Cole song, too.
I look forward to meeting the youse guys and the rest of the pack!
7:27 pm on November 11th, 2012
Belle Starr, are you there? You may continue to call me Wablin’ Wose because you are my VBFFF.
7:28 pm on November 11th, 2012
Riö, obviously I didn’t take the one of my grandfather. snicker . .
I also didn’t take the one of YSAS. It was taken by someone at the set.
I did primp them. My grandfather’s picture had cracks and spots on it. I fixed those.
The one of YSAS at the set I gave depth, focus and saturation. Then I made it look old.
Terry. The stars are wonderful. Thank you to your Dad.
Dan, the Raven, was in the Navy. Zoë is not ready to talk about him.
7:29 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie, YSAS is just as handsome as your dad. I thank your dad as well for his service to our country.
7:31 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie!…I can read between the lines…heh!…I know you did not take those photos, but they are still amazing…snorkel!…Those two have almost the same pose. Did Clarkson plan that? Or was it spontaneous?…sniff!
7:32 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie: jeez, I meant your grandfather, and thanks to Dan the Man for his service.
7:33 pm on November 11th, 2012
Terry: I didn’t know that about the stars either. Thank you to your father for his service.
Ahem…I am pleased to announce our own CHobbitHarris, sponsor of the Willow checkpoint last year, and Snowhook’s VIP visitor, has dibs on the same checkpoint again this year!
7:41 pm on November 11th, 2012
Riö, OF COURSE, he planned. He’s YSAS!
Going to bed now. Trying to move over Tenzing . . wish those Slim Jim’s didn’t give him wind.
TTFN
7:41 pm on November 11th, 2012
Terry: The wall of stars is a beautiful way to honor our veterans. Thanks for posting that picture.
Melanie: YSAS is so good looking!
7:42 pm on November 11th, 2012
Melanie: Don’t worry. It doesn’t bother me.
7:48 pm on November 11th, 2012
CHobbitHarris: Congratulations on getting the Willow checkpoint!
8:12 pm on November 11th, 2012
C.Hobbit!…Got Willow!…Woooooo!!…Way to go C.Hobbit! We are all proud and thankful for you too!….yippppee!
8:17 pm on November 11th, 2012
Hey everyone – we have had a busy Veteran’s Day with ceremonies and going out for dinner. Just catching up on the blog.
Melanie – husssshhhh. And get better. Great pictures, too.
Dawson – thanks for your coordinating efforts
Beau – for shame, tut tut
Terry – thank you for that picture. We didn’t know either.
We are going to go sit and watch “Once”, and shell out the lobsters that we got for our favorite veteran.
8:17 pm on November 11th, 2012
Our favorite veteran

8:34 pm on November 11th, 2012
Great pictures! We love them all.
Melanie, hope you are tip top tomorrow.
Temps are dropping here, rain has arrived and winter is coming soon.
Saying good night.
8:38 pm on November 11th, 2012
T&G: Wonderful picture – all the veteran’s are so handsome.
Maggie and Bruce are both veteran’s. They both look wonderful in their uniforms too. Especially mom because you don’t see that many women in uniform.
Oley Howlers: Did I read where you have sponsored Kaltag for Sasha and her Moondog? Congratulations and thank youse! Now, who is the Moondog?
Ramblin’ Rose: I am getting excited for you! You will meet all the characters of Snowhook Kennels, two legged and four legged. Maybe CHobbit Harris will show up!
9:03 pm on November 11th, 2012
I’ve been thinking all day of appropriate checkpoints for the four-leggeds and two-leggeds who have crossed the Bridge, and the Retirees. I would like to name Yentna for the two-leggeds who have gone before us, and Skwentna for our four-leggeds who have crossed the Bridge. Both of these checkpoints are early on in the race, and close to us. I chose them as a reminder that our loved ones are never far from us even if they’ve crossed the Bridge. I would like to choose Safety for the Retirees. Annabelle, Snowhook’s lead dog who required last year at the finish line opted for an extended stay at the Safety checkpoint in 2011. AJ could have dropped her there and made it to Nome much, much sooner. He refused to leave his girl, the same girl that had been with him on all his training runs and races, behind.
Dawson: Am I missing any other checkpoints? SiberH has already picked the checkpoint for his Christmas present. Sasha and Moonman will be snuggled up at Kaltag and CHH has chosen the starting line for the second year in a row.
9:20 pm on November 11th, 2012
Leonard!…He looks Dashing and Dangerous all at the same time…chuffle!
9:21 pm on November 11th, 2012
My boy’s college roommate was killed in Afghanistan. We still grieve.
9:30 pm on November 11th, 2012
Snowhook Bella: Thank you for the checkpoint designations. Wonderful, thoughtful choices. Our books tally exactly.
9:39 pm on November 11th, 2012
I think those are good choices, Rebecca.
I picked Rainy Pass again this year.
It is nice the way we remembered and honored all the veterans on the blog today. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans must never be forgotten either.
9:47 pm on November 11th, 2012
Bella the link did not work. I believe it will work if I put in your email address. At least it says that on the site. Wish I could remember what I put in last year.
9:49 pm on November 11th, 2012
SiberH!…Why do you pick Rainy Pass? Seems a curious choice regarding your fear of water…sniff!sniff!
9:51 pm on November 11th, 2012
Staff: Sorry, it didn’t work. I thought it would. You can enter our snowhook email. If that doesn’t work, I have it set up with a personal email, that I will send you via SDD.
9:58 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rio: If I remember correctly, there is no rain at Rainy Pass.
10:03 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rio, During the Iditarod the water at Rainy Pass is frozen in the form of snow. It is pretty at Rainy Pass, and I like the idea that it is at Rainy Pass the teams start their downhill journey to the Alaskan interior.
10:04 pm on November 11th, 2012
Dawson!…snort!…Good one, but don’t you think they would name it No Rainy Pass or Hardly Any Rainy Pass, or Got Rainy Pass?…sniff!…After all, Passes are usually named after their worst or best characteristic, right?…heh!
10:06 pm on November 11th, 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI9W_VdV1l0
Alice and Abbie WANT this.
10:17 pm on November 11th, 2012
Staff!…My friend says that video brings back tons of memories of her days out on the farm when she was a little girl…snort!…She says she used to build stacked box cities for all the farm Kats. Not as fancy as this guys, but alot more design oriented …grunt!…I can hardly believe a word of this as my friend would never in her life own a Kat…grump!
10:19 pm on November 11th, 2012
We demand our rights as Kats.
A Kitty Kardboard Kastle in every home!
Wahoooooo!
10:20 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rio, Maybe it is named Rainy Pass because Rain passes it by…?
10:22 pm on November 11th, 2012
See Rio: I was right! There is no rain in Rainy Pass because it’s Winter!
Staff: Nice video – lucky cat.
10:26 pm on November 11th, 2012
We don’t have a picture of Dad.
Here is Mom. She taught instrument flight to pilots. She was stationed in what is now Pakistan but was then India. The pilots were flying ‘over the hump’ and were learning how to fly with that new invention ‘radar’.

10:33 pm on November 11th, 2012
Staff: Ooh! I was hoping you would post that picture. I love mom’s hair!
10:35 pm on November 11th, 2012
Drews!…Wow! Your Maw was incredibly important in the war…zow!
10:37 pm on November 11th, 2012
Hair-doo!…Your Maw’s hair had a flight plan all its own…snort!…She is lovely and you can tell she is very intelligent…snorkel!
10:43 pm on November 11th, 2012
Thanks for the photo, Staff. Rio is correct, Maggie’s job was very important during the way. “Flying over the hump” was dangerous.
Rio, In the summertime, Rainy Pass gets a lot of rain.
10:45 pm on November 11th, 2012
Yes, she was recruited for this job because before joining the WAC’s she was an English teacher.
10:49 pm on November 11th, 2012
I love the photos that have been shared today of loved ones who have served.
Rio: I posted a video of the team on our Facebookie. If I’m not mistaken, Junior is in the first team shown. He is in second team (lead dogs, swing dogs, first team, second team), and of the pair, he is the closest to the camera.
10:49 pm on November 11th, 2012
Staff!…How did she and your Paw meet anyways?…snort!…Was he one of her radar students?
10:51 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rebecca!…Thats all well and good, but I am not allowed to go out on facebookie…grump!
10:54 pm on November 11th, 2012
Rio: Well, in that case, you should know that Junior does you proud. He is running well with the ‘A’ team.
10:57 pm on November 11th, 2012
Junior!…Yipppeeee!…He does make me proud. I may have to figure out how to sponser that young fellar…sniff!
11:07 pm on November 11th, 2012
Maybe Rebecca could post that video of the team on Snowhook’s blog for those of us that are not allowed to go to facebookie. I believe Rio and I are the only ones not allowed to go to facebookie. Some of us are still living in the Dark Ages.
night all

Rio,
After the war Maggie, who was almost 30, decided she was never going to get married. She decided to go back and get her Masters so she could be a principal or something that made more money than a mere teacher. She went to Wayne State in Detroit on the GI bill and there she met another GI bill student. Their first date was New Years Eve.
There were Armenians at the party and a naked girl (not Mom).
On March 25th they got married and Mom discovered Dad was only 24 years old and on December 23rd I arrived. What a year, EH?
Dad didn’t finish his bachelors degree until the third kid Dawson) arrived. (Unless it was the 4th, the Turtleman)
