    Macy I just knew you would be around to post later than myself. I used to be the latest post but no longer. I do feel a lot better today so I will go to quilting later on. But I will wear my mask just in case.

    I voted a week ago by mail.

    Love’s Philosophy by Percy Shelley

    The fountains mingle with the river
    And the rivers with the ocean,
    The winds of heaven mix forever
    With a sweet emotion;
    Nothing in the world is single;
    All things by a law divine
    In one another’s being mingle-
    Why not I with thine?

    See the mountains kiss high heaven,
    And the waves clasp one another;
    No sister flower would be forgiven
    If it disdain’d its brother;
    And the sunlight clasps the earth,
    And the moonbeams kiss the sea;
    What are all these kissings worth,
    If thou kiss not me?

    Hoping good things for Addie and Sadie today…..and for our nation, of course. May we survive and be made whole again.

    I just saw a FB post for a women who is not voting for my candidate of choice. She wrote “To bad their are so many ignorant people in the world”. LOL I seriously wanted to correct her sentence!

    Percy Bysshe Shelley was quite the wild man, evidently possessing a strong degree of testosterone. And he died at age 30!

    Dawson: Beautiful!

    BMALS: Lol. At least she got the Ignorant part right.

    Dawson: What a lovely poem!

    That is one of my favorite Shelley poems. He died in a sailing accident when a sudden storm engulfed the boat. He was almost 30 when it happened–very young but still one of the best poets in the English language. There is a wonderful monument to him: the Shelley Memorial at University College, Oxford, England.

    Dawson: The version of the poem I have has this for the final two lines: “What is all this sweet work worth/ If thou kiss not me?”
    Where did you find the version you are quoting?

    Sorry. That’s the entire article on Shelley. You have to go the heading “Death” and click on the picture in the right hand margin.

    And speaking of Shelley…..

    Or as Robert Hunter so wisely put it – “Keep an eye to the future, an ear to the past, cause after thinking it over notice nothing much lasts.”

    Back to the real world. Mom loves “Ozymandias” also. So visual. Why English poetry on an Election Day? Are we missing something?

    Mom voted early. Have to say she isn’t crazy about either of the candidates. At one point she was wondering which would be easiest to impeach.

    Sorry, I know we don’t do politics here.

    Herd – I think the idea is to talk about anything except, well, you know. I think after dinner we’re going to go to the basement and watch some more of our complete set of Monty Python.

    BStover: I quoted from a miniature book that had only the one poem in it. It was published in 1992 by Dial books, a division of Penquin books, conceived and produced by Breslich & Foss, designed by Nigel Partridge. L of C Card Catalog # 91-602
    Here is another version with the same words.

    HOH: Terry Ballard got it exactly right. I’ve been out all day and am now going to read a book about Navajo Code Talkers by Chester Nez, one of the original Code Talkers.

    Dawson, the Code Talker book sounds interesting. We are being brain dead and enjoying one of David Rosenfelt’s Andy Carpenter novels.
