Election Day
“Voting?” says Spence.
“Yup,” says Admin.
“Who for, may I ask?”
“I’m writing in Lincoln. He’d do a better job, even in his present state.”

For the people who are still flooded.
Row, row, row and vote,
It’s time for you to help.
Let’s all vote and then get back
To help you keep afloat.
I know. . not very good. But no caffeine yet!
8:58 am on November 6th, 2012
Good morning Melanie and all.
Good idea, Spence.
Good boy, Wookie! Prayer with all of you there in Chevy Chase.

Waiting for a call (once again).

Good Morning Melanie and Bluecat! Greetings to the rest of youse guys!
CAST PARTY!
The Prof finally got his cast off yesterday, so I told him we must have a “cast party.” He laughed at my cleverness.
Wookie, sending grandpa strong, healing prayers, and XOXOXOX to you, your mom and dad. You are sure one cool dog under pressure.
9:29 am on November 6th, 2012
Admin!…I concur…snort!
9:34 am on November 6th, 2012
Good morning all. Melanie, we liked your poem.
Barb voted early, so all there is to do today is watch the polling news. They are saying it is too close to call. Let’s hope it isn’t 269 to 269. We want a final decision by bed time tonight.
Prayers going out to Chevy Chase.
9:40 am on November 6th, 2012
Hi Rio!
Siber-H is up top with his Rockies cap on.
9:56 am on November 6th, 2012
I voted. (I’ve always wondered why anyone would want to be president of anything.)
Good morning all.
10:01 am on November 6th, 2012
Ishmael is up on top for me. I voted by mail.
10:20 am on November 6th, 2012
Wookie: Healing Prayers going out to your beloved Gramps. Praying for his quick recovery from the surgery.
Everyone is so very proud of you for acting so cool in this crisis. I know Gramps cannot wait to be back home with his wonderful family…especially his dear Wookie.
10:30 am on November 6th, 2012
Good Morning, and Happy Election Day!
The rents have voted and are taking turns at the poll. Mom insists on taking this here iPaw back over with her, so you won’t hear much from us today.
10:31 am on November 6th, 2012
Barb is heading over to the library shortly. Going to check out We’ll Always Have Parrots”. Any other great books we should look for? Didn’t someone mention Grisham’s new book recently?
10:33 am on November 6th, 2012
Bishop broke his hip in two places along with Annabelle. I’m pretty sure I did, too. My two-legged said I didn’t, but I’m not sure her memory can be trusted. Wookie’s grandpa is in Snowhook’s thoughts today as he goes in for surgery.
My two-legged has a long day ahead of her. She needs to be into work early and then tonight she has the first session of a writing class AJ gave her for her birthday.
Pancho and Lefty want my two-legged to write then in when she votes. She told them, “No. I vote pug. For everything.”
10:47 am on November 6th, 2012
Election Day is finally here. No more political ads and arguments over who is the best candidate for the job. What a relief!
We also voted (pug) by mail.
10:55 am on November 6th, 2012
I voted Siber….a sled in every garage!
Wookie, Thoughts and prayers are with your grandpa today.
Please keep us posted.
We hope there are no election glitches today and that it will finally be over with tonight. Please, please, please….We can’t take anymore of this.
11:01 am on November 6th, 2012
Belle Starr: The Prof wants to know who that very cute puppy is with your two-legged on the November calendar page/avatar.
(Whispering) I think he has a crush on your two-legged.

Back from the phone call. Back from voting. Now waiting on another call.

I’m so happy that the mud-slinging ads here will be over by this evening. The race here for congress was the worst I’ve ever seen. Attack, attack, attack, ad nauseum. Super PACs from both sides got into the fray with lots of money for commercials. We have been bombarded. If the candidates were actually as bad as those ads say, they are both scoundrels.
11:13 am on November 6th, 2012
Siber, we are with you on both counts.
11:15 am on November 6th, 2012
And Wookie, we just caught up on last night’s posts. Our thought and prayers are with your grandpa.
12:11 pm on November 6th, 2012
Please, please let this all be over tonight.
We like the idea of a sled in every garage.
What is our Pug friend promising if elected?
12:14 pm on November 6th, 2012
Promises!…I never run for anything or anyone…grunt!
12:19 pm on November 6th, 2012
Whew – just catching up after a whole bunch of craziness…
First off, Wookie, prayers are going up for your Gramp
And to everyone – our Gramp and Callie both send thanks and tail wags for all your good wishes and cheers. It meant a lot to both of them!
Voting day around here is NUTS! Mama and Dad always work the first shift at the polls. Usually a morning rush as people go to work, then it slows down. Not today. There were people lined up at 6:30 am even though the polls didn’t open til 7. Some people got nasty – they said they saw there was “early voting” in other states, and why not here. Then there was the lady who yelled at Mama when she was told that she was not registered, and therefore couldn’t vote. The lady (?) said she never heard of anything as ridiculous as have to register to vote. She said that was what she was doing by checking in. She also asked “when this state started demanding that people register”, and was it a way “to keep people from being able to vote” The ward captain tried to explain to her the history of voting and registering to vote, but she kept saying that she had always voted, but she never had to register….
sigh
Most elections, they check about 200 people in during their shift. Today, they checked in over 900. Tonight ought to get interesting.
12:43 pm on November 6th, 2012
Wow Amalia, You had your hands full didn’t you? Do you think that woman was registered somewhere else and moved to your district?
This is probably a dumb question, but do you have to be a US citizen to vote and do you have to show proof? Barb has been registered for years, but someone told her that you can just show a driver’s license and proof of address and you can vote. We always thought you had to be a citizen of the US.
12:51 pm on November 6th, 2012
Rio! Would you run for bacon?
12:55 pm on November 6th, 2012
Barb, you do have to be a citizen to vote. Other than that, each state runs the election by it’s own rules. In some states, you can just register when you show up at the poll to vote. In Pennsylvania, you have to register. Also, you can’t vote in either of the major parties’ primary unless you are registered as a member of that party. Some states have open primaries, so that you can vote in either one, regardless of your registration.

I have just spent two hours working on an old portrait of my Grandfather. On Veteran’s Day my brother wants to put up the picture where he works. I will also put it up here. Tired though.
He said just scan it. Snicker. It’s too big to scan. I knew I had it somewhere because OTAS had an excellent tattoo artist use the picture for a tattoo on OTAS’s calf. I had to look through all 8,529 pictures. Found it though. Then I realized it needed work. I’ve been working in one, five and ten pixels for the past 90 minutes. I have sent it off to him.
YSAS is off to vote. His voting place now has electricity and no water on the first floor. I mean that literally. As in on the FLOOR.

Melanie, we heard on NPR that as of yesterday, there are still 60 precincts in NYC whose polling places are non-operational due to flooding, power loss, etc.

Double fun!
Who is up top but Rio, and the lovely red-headed Smoocher, Kat!
2:19 pm on November 6th, 2012
Needles!…Me and my friend are going to be on pins and needles tonight watching the returns…gasp!!…And I thought everyone had to be registered to vote. Did that MA lady crawl out from under a rock or sumthing?…grunt!

Photos!…Everyones webpage shows different photos of Chets friends each time the page is refreshed…snort!…I don’t understand why you guys keep pointing out who is up top when the rest of us are looking at someone quite different at the time…wheeze!
2:49 pm on November 6th, 2012
I’ve got OTAS’s Papi up top! Snort.

Wose: The pup in my two-legged’s arms is not me if you can believe if. I’m much cuter. That little guy was a pup before my time. She called him Henry. Crush? Why would someone have a crush on my two-legged and not me? It makes no sense. That photo was taken at -40 degrees—-everyone looks better when the camera gets fuzzy with cold. And, that’s not her reall hair. It’s is a hat. Her hair has no manners at all. She is wise to cover if up with a hat, I’ll give that to her.
Rio: My two legged says it is always a treat to see a Plunderer up top even though she knows we are all looking at different pictures. She says seeing your pug mug in the middle of the day makes her smile every time.
3:27 pm on November 6th, 2012
Rebecca!…Whatever wuffles your top-notch…grunt!
3:28 pm on November 6th, 2012
Rio, Thought you would want to know that OFA is up top, having hot wings with you and Wookie. Now that one you might like!
Melanie, Came back from the library with We’ll Always Have Parrots, Grisham’s King of Tortes, and a nonfiction book called “Navajos Wear Nikes” by Jim Kristofic. He cronicles his life growing up on a reservation in Ganado, AZ. Wonder what A & L have heard about the book.
3:34 pm on November 6th, 2012
Barb, Mom read, “Navajos Wear Nikes”. She liked it.
3:43 pm on November 6th, 2012
Siber, Thanks for the comment. Just dipped into the book a little and it looks very interesting.
Have to leave to pick up Lyla an take her and Jack to the bike shop. Rainy and cold out there. BBL

Here’s something I mention just before the hurricane that now I can really say. Starting in December, I will be working as an adjunct librarian at the College of New Rochelle. Until New York settles its current gas insanity, I won’t even be able to see the facility. Will be starting the first of December. This is great! Whatever money I make will be adding a bit to my Social Security check in the long haul. The commute won’t be much more than a half hour each way.
3:54 pm on November 6th, 2012
Terry – New Rochelle. Rob & Laura Petrie. Those were the days.
Congrats on your job!
We certainly hope someone will win the election tonight and that this nonsense doesn’t drag on. Think what good things could have been done with all the PAC $$$. Sigh.
T&G – maybe the lady hadn’t had her cawfee yet.
4:37 pm on November 6th, 2012
BlueCat – Maybe she hadn’t had her coffee, indeed – but then again, neither had Mama and Dad! tee hee
We are hoping that karma will step in re the PAC $$$.
Barb and Siber – we haven’t heard of that book – we will look for it, and welcome your opinions.
Melanie – please check SDD – or call – or both – (jumping up and down here with happy Corgi dance)

Rob and Laua! We loved those guys!
The amount of $$$ spent on all the campaigns is sickening, when so many people and doggies are hurting.
6:31 pm on November 6th, 2012
And Kats too. Kats are hurting.
Mr. Staff is making fresh North Dakota katnip for Abbie and Alice today. They will soon be twirling.

We were watching the last Bones. Tad Gory, but how they found the body was great.

Belle Starr: Your cute puppy face is up top! Don’t worry about the Prof, he has seen your picture with your four- legged, and said you were beautiful . Something tells me he will fall in love with you when you meet!
You are just the cutest thing in that picture!
7:15 pm on November 6th, 2012
Confusion: On NPR a little while ago, they said the polls were closed in a half a dozen states. Do different states close at different times? We would have thought that all EST states would close at 7. Perhaps someone can shed some light. (not to be confused with light shedding)
7:24 pm on November 6th, 2012
Wose: Whew! The Professor adoring me when he meets me makes sense. I feel much better. Perhaps I should take back those things I said about my two-legged. I may or may not have spoken in a fit of jealousy, and there is an outside chance I may have exaggerated about her hair, but if it comes to a bet between her hair and Lefty having more manners…well, my treat budget is on the thief.
7:26 pm on November 6th, 2012
The Eastern states do close at different times. Also NJ has extended hours because of trouble with the email ballots they are trying to put together. Not sure about NY.

Update on grandpa. He came through the surgery very well. He now has a titanium rod and two screws that he didn’t have before. He will be in the hospital for another three days and then to a rehab facility for awhile after that. Thanks to everyone for all your prayers and good wishes.

Rio: I wonder I they have any idea of what they’re getting into with that there dream. ;).
Starting tomorrow night, I will be on the road for work. Late nights to catch early flight coupled with long days has me feeling a bit under the weather. After my writing class tonight, I am going to pick up some airborne and follow pug’s orders.
8:45 pm on November 6th, 2012
Rebecca!…These two in the show don’t have a clue about what they are getting into…heh!heh!…You better take that Airborn. Don’t just post about taking it. Really take it and then take it again in the morning….grunt!
9:00 pm on November 6th, 2012
SiberH — good thought. Grandpa was actually in the same rehab facility early last year and while I couldn’t go in, he was able to come out and see me. It was very therapeutic then and I am sure it would be now too. Wookie

Dearest Vookie – ve know you are very gentleman doggie. Is big secret, but ve tell you anyvay. Is possible your family can buy online “official” therapy doggie vest. Vith that, you can go anyvhere vith being on leash. Since you could be so good on leash (just for show, of course) no von vould ever know. And Natasha vould never tell.
Ve think good doggies should be able to go anyvhere, any time. So maybe ve bend a little rule now and then.
9:13 pm on November 6th, 2012
Natasha!…Plus, his Paw is a lawyer so he could get Wookie off on all charges if he bent the rules just a little bit…heh!heh!…Do it Wookie! Go see Grampa!…chuffle!
9:16 pm on November 6th, 2012
I vote yes on ballot measure 007 which allows Agent Wookie to go where he wants, when he wants.
Wookie: I am glad to hear your grandpa is out of surgery and on the road to recovery.
9:25 pm on November 6th, 2012
Wookie: Great news about your Gramps! Now he has the latest in titanium parts with a couple screws thrown in for good measure. Thanks for giving us the update. There is not much time for rest between the surgery and the rehab. They don’t want any moss to grow on Grampa. My prayers are with you and your family.
Thinking also of G&BB’s family tonight.
Hooray! That OTAS and GLAD finally have power again (I’m just catching up on yesterday’s posts).

Yes, Rio. I voted…me and the Howlers voted Siber and others on the blog voted Pug. It doesn’t matter if Pug or Siber wins. It is a win win situtation for the country with either one of us in charge.
The USA would have a year long base of balls season.

Miss Bella of the Snowhook. Please check SDD
10:20 pm on November 6th, 2012

10:25 pm on November 6th, 2012
Wookie are you going to go visit Grandpa in the rehab place? I took Alice to the rehab place in 2008 when Maggie had to be there for a few months. Alice loved the attention. She walked in with her tail up and her little harness and her jingly rabies tags.
Once she got in the room with Maggie she hid under the couch and wouldn’t come out until we dragged her.
I bet you would love grandpa up instead of hiding.

The rents are finally home. They said we are staying up late.
12:05 am on November 7th, 2012
Mama just came out of her Mud Room. She seems to be in a good mood.
12:22 am on November 7th, 2012
Wookie: 🙂
I waited to vote until it warmed up from -30 to -20. Alaska’s 3 electoral votes don’t really count but at least I voted before the winner was announced (just barely). Often that is not the case. By the time I got home, the media folks were calling the election. I am still going to wait up as I find ithe analysis interesting.
Neither candidate would have had a mandate given all the division in this country–the next four years are going to be tough. I hope we don’t end up with a lame-duck president and a gridlocked congress. We’ve got to work together … (off soapbox)
12:23 am on November 7th, 2012
We here have no idea who is going to win the Senate from North Dakota. Dead heat. I guess I will have to wait until the morning. I am beat! What an interesting night.
goodnight all. Hope the Pug/Husky wins. ;-D

The husky is promising a critter in every pot.
12:32 am on November 7th, 2012
Howlers-a critter in every pot reminds me of a friend who discovered a fuzzbutt in her toilet one night. NOT a good thing, lol. Hey, auto complete offered fuzzbutt as a choice, heh-heh!
