“How come you’re not at the computer?” Admin says.
“Thought I’d take a little break,” says Spence.
“A little break? Is that how this country got built?”

Good Day Chet, Spence & Admin!
11:54 am on February 10th, 2013
But, Stories do not get written by taking a break…just kidding, Spence deserves a few breaks now and then.
Staff, Thanks for the baseball link. I doubt if my newspaper will ever get around to the spring trainng schedule.
12:02 pm on February 10th, 2013
Okay – break is over. This e-story isn’t going to write itself.

Mr.Staff says he knee is fine. He says he could walk without the brace. I am not in favor of this (It was 4 weeks yesterday that he fell) He has another appt to be x-rayed and see how it is healing on Monday. He seems pretty happy with it now but he hasn’t bent it at the knee for that time so that will be the big test. The Dr. said keep the brace on for about 6 weeks and then check it.
This is a duplicate. I posted it on yesterday first.
12:08 pm on February 10th, 2013
I am also taking a break. Found out that the paths the Pack have created in the Stockade are still above the ground about 8 inches. If they decided to come through ON the paths and you step off of them, (doing higher level math, the paths are 16 inches down from the snow height and then you add the 8 inches . . ) well, you get your knees wet and the snow goes in your boots.
The poop sled got very heavy. I turned around and Gracie was IN THE SLED taking a ride. Luckily, it was before I put any poop in it.
We have a Tennessee Lurker! HI! This Lurker wrote because she had a Newf and is getting a new puppy! They call Newfoundland Dogs “Tennessee Long Tailed Black Bears”.

Update: Jemmy ‘ole Blue Eyes Durante is now at 30% ($150) . We love this iPad Numbers app that can calculate that for us. 🙂

One more thing before I rest.
How cold was it this morning?
Cold enough to freeze the dog water in the dog room!
12:18 pm on February 10th, 2013
Posts!…I was reading todays post from yesterday…snort!…Puss N’ Boots, do you remember how much the antique quilling piece went for on the show?…grunt!…Very interesting.
12:23 pm on February 10th, 2013
Melanie: Funny post about Gracie sneaking a Ride. Smirk.
Love the name Tennesse Long Tailed Black Bears.
12:25 pm on February 10th, 2013
Good afternoon all.
Mama and Daddy love frozen grapes. Especially in the summer. Which is most certainly is NOT right now.
And Sage the Wrotten Kat has decided that he LIKES snow. He is more determined than ever to get out the door. If he can’t do that – he is running the Kitty Olympics through the house, leaping over gates, leaping on top of the hutch, beating up his brother, shredding newspapers. It’s a Kat-astrophy!
12:26 pm on February 10th, 2013
CHobbitHarris, The Yukon Quest is coming ever closer. Do you have any plans to try to sneak a peek? (I almost wrote sneek a peak)
Gosh I think that would be fun, although maybe cold.
12:28 pm on February 10th, 2013
I wonder how far along Spence is on the second e-story.
12:30 pm on February 10th, 2013
Macy – we just saw your message. Do you happen to know her name? There are a number of designers we know out home. We wonder if this could possibly be our friend Virginia.
12:41 pm on February 10th, 2013
Riö: Check your SDD!
12:42 pm on February 10th, 2013
Is this about the woman of a certain age kicking young butt? I want to see that. I wonder if I can get it on line.
What’s the name of the show?
12:44 pm on February 10th, 2013
Sage: High five!
12:59 pm on February 10th, 2013
Almost forgot…today is the Beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year:

1:02 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rio, can’t remember for sure. The show was about unexpected treasures and showcased items worth a lot more than the people thought. One thing that made this item more valuable was it was antique American quilling, not British which is more common. Mom thinks it was worth thousands, but not sure how much. Hopefully, the show will be repeated fairly soon. If your friend can find it on demand, it was based in Boston.

Legend
According to Chinese legend, the twelve animals quarreled one day as to who was to head the cycle of years. The gods were asked to decide and they held a contest: whoever was to reach the opposite bank of the river would be first, and the rest of the animals would receive their years according to their finish.
All the twelve animals gathered at the river bank and jumped in. Unknown to the ox, the rat had jumped upon his back. As the ox was about to jump ashore, the rat jumped off the ox’s back, and won the race. The pig, who was very lazy, ended up last. That is why the rat is the first year of the animal cycle, the ox second, and the pig last.

Chet, Give Spence a nudge.
1:36 pm on February 10th, 2013
Good afternoon all. Busy morning here. PT guy was here and did lots of paperwork. Will be back Tuesday. Had some homemade chicken/white bean soup and buttered bread. Yummers! Nappy time is looming ahead.
Lots of rain here today.
BSD, Interesting story about the origin of the Chinese New Years.
Barb’s nephew, the 35 year old bachlor, is getting hitched later this year. His bride is with child, as they often do it now days. Of course no one can wait to see what the sex of the baby is (one of life’s greatest surprises), so they have to find out immediately. The newest rage is the “Reveal Party”, which we think is totally crazy. They had 25 or so at a party Friday night, including relatives that flew in from Texas. The parents cut a Reveal Cake and depending on whether it is pink or blue inside, that announces to everyone what the wee one will be. The parents take a sealed envelope to the baker, so they don’t know either till the big moment. What happened to guessing for 9 months and then doing your “Reveal” at delivery?
Does anyone else think this is a little too trendy?
1:38 pm on February 10th, 2013
Puss N’ Boots!…My friend says she will be looking for that episode…grunt!…I don’t like that show at all, no guns or action involved…sniff!
Projects!…Speaking of projects someone here is finally sitting down to finish up the final two prizes and fotos will be forthcoming…snort!…So don’t get your panties in a bundle.
1:43 pm on February 10th, 2013
Barb&Magpie: The Reveal Party sounds a little too weird to us, but then we here tend to be more “old school” so what do we know?
btw: Your chicken & white bean soup sounds Scrumptous. I read cornbread instead of bread and now I’m Really Hungry.
1:51 pm on February 10th, 2013
Bear, Cornbread would definitely have been better!
We tried to get into dishlickers, but couldn’t access. We know password, but is the ID yahoo.com? Wanted to read about Cody. BBL after nap.
1:51 pm on February 10th, 2013
Riö: Did you pickup your “interesting” SDD? sniff.
1:56 pm on February 10th, 2013
Maskers!…I did see your interesting SDD, but have not enjoyed the link to the article….grunt!….Its been a mad house around here this morning. Seems a Realtor friend is coming over to discuss the possibility of selling her mothers house…wheeze!…All of our toys and chewies have disappeared completely. Beau is not a happy camper right now…heh!
2:03 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rio, selling the house u are living in? Would u move back to ur friends house? If memory serves, a lot of health problems there.
2:08 pm on February 10th, 2013
Riö: G&BB are right…you can’t move back…your friend was (cough, hair ball) sick as a dog while living there!
2:16 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rio, hope the market is good out there. Here? Not too much.
Just came back in from taking the Pack to the play yard. The drifts are up to my thighs. I am still dripping snow from my pants. I’ll post a video later. Going to first try posting a picture.
Barb, I’m glad you ard Maggie are back.
2:24 pm on February 10th, 2013
Barb, The whole reveal party thing sounds nuts.
Newfs in the Snow!
So, today would be a good day to eat Chinese food.
2:25 pm on February 10th, 2013
House!…I don’t know what their plans are but I think someone else is living in my other house right now…grunt!…So I doubt we will be moving back there…sniff!…They do not tell me all their plans and I only listen to every other word when I am begging for food…heh!
2:28 pm on February 10th, 2013
Sneeze!…snort!…Where are all my toys?…grump!…Where are my bears? Where’s my bully stick? Where are my little green balls?…wheeze!sneeze!…This can’t be happening!…gurgle!
2:58 pm on February 10th, 2013
Reveal Party. Hah hah! That’s a hoot. We here think it is smart to find out the gender, so you can better prepare, and also it would seem more real. It seems cool to talk to your boy or girl, while knowing it is a boy or a girl. But the dramatics of the “Reveal Party” with the secret cake and relatives flying in, and everyone finding out at the same time as the expectant couple, seem a bit off the deep end to us.
Then again, none of us have ever experienced the whole pregnancy thing, so what do we know?
3:05 pm on February 10th, 2013
A “Reveal Party” sounds a bit kinky to me.”
I’m falling asleep over the keyboard.
3:07 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rio: Let us know when you hear more……
Beau: Stay Calm…your toys will be back Soon.
Melanie: Looks like the Pack isn’t quite sure about all that snow. Is that a small ray of Sunshine I see?
Siber-H: Somehow Chinese doesn’t sound like a Comfort food to me.
3:08 pm on February 10th, 2013
From YQ facebookie:
Ed Hopkins and Dave Dalton have left Slaven’s on their way to Circle. Crispin Studer and Denis Tremblay still resting in Slaven’s. Meanwhile, Darrin Lee, Brian Wilmshurst and Rob Cooke all on their way to Slaven’s.
3:24 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rio and Beau! Keep calm and carry on!
3:26 pm on February 10th, 2013
T&G, nothing beats eating frozen grapes in the summer! The Prof and I will put them in a nice glass of sangria on occasion.
3:27 pm on February 10th, 2013
Thanks, Howlers. Do you know what place Rob Cooke is in now?
B&M: Have we told you how happy we are to have you back on the blog? You have been missed!
3:36 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rose and T&G: Cold grapes…a kool summer treat!
Have youse ever had apricot halves in a glass of champagne? Quite tasty.
3:47 pm on February 10th, 2013
Barb had two pregnancies and a total of 5 between her daughter and DIL. We waited on all of those to find out. Kelly says there are very few really big, wonderful surprises in life, and this is one. We think it is sad that our socicey has to have everything immediately. No waiting, dreaming or even saving for big ticket items. It all has to be NOW. Too bad we think.
Rio, I wonder if they will be buying another house to live in together.
4:21 pm on February 10th, 2013
I waited until delivery to find out the gender with each of my pups. Belle Starr was the biggest surprise of all. As a litter of one, I kept her a secret until the day she was born. Talk about surprises.
4:24 pm on February 10th, 2013
We can’t help it. We have to show you our Snow Eating Contest.
(Callie won for style points)

I am trying to eat a cup of popcorn.
“Mine, and that’s mine. No you can’t lick my fingers. No! Mine! Leave it. Mine. I’m not sharing. Go on now.”
I have to tell each one because each one is convinced that I mean the others.
Snicker.
4:44 pm on February 10th, 2013
G&BB, that show sounds like Antiques Roadshow. I like that show.
4:49 pm on February 10th, 2013
T&G: Funny to see the Royals out in the snow! Callie seemed to enjoy eating the snow.
4:50 pm on February 10th, 2013
Masquers, I have never had an apricot, frozen or otherwise…..
4:52 pm on February 10th, 2013
Luna, isn’t being surprised the point? Was Belle Starr sparkly when she was born?

We love seeing the Royals and Callie in the snow. Callie is not so much snow eating as she is snow plowing! Way to go, Callie!
We just went for a walk. It was a beautiful day here.

5:17 pm on February 10th, 2013
O’Howlers: What’s up? 🙂
Snow Dogs: Callie and the Royals.
5:23 pm on February 10th, 2013
This is a stone nearby, memorializing Washington’s Quartermaster and one of the members of the Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention. He was also the original European “owner” of our land, and the father-in-law of the man who built our house, who was also a soldier in the American Revolution.

5:24 pm on February 10th, 2013
Wose: She had a bit of a sheen to her which I quickly licked. She had a pink belly with black dots and the cutest pink tongue. A week later Annabelle gave birth to the Outlaws. I took four from her and raised them as my own. They were a pawful and none as cute as Belle Starr.
5:28 pm on February 10th, 2013
Realtor!…Well that guy finally left…snort!…Now Beau is happy again…heh!…Her mother was very surprised at the price he quoted her because it is about 20 grand more than what she was thinking….woooooo!…I think the housing market is making a comeback here…chuffle!
5:29 pm on February 10th, 2013
Ooops!…Beau was still logged on..grump!
5:30 pm on February 10th, 2013
Sad to think the AKC cares more about protecting their 2-legged members than treating The Nation Within with Respect. Grrrr.
O’Howlers: Your house must be very old.

********Calling All Plunderers, Near and Far********
The situation with my boy Cody is going from worse to worser. Breena, the pregnant girl friend, quit her job, and they are homeless. Mom could have sponsored two sled doggies for what she has shelled out this past week alone. She can do no more.
I am asking for everyone to join in a Plunder Prayer for Cody to agree to rehab. Mom has insurance to cover a thirty day in house program. I am asking for the doors to be open to the right place where my boy can get the help he so desperately needs.
Cody and Breena have an unhealthy relationship, and their baby is paying the price. Breena won’t leave Cody, but it Cody is in rehab, perhaps she can get some space so that she can think clearly. Her parents want her to come home, but Cody is not welcome there until and unless he changes. He is not a nice person right now. We can’t be around him either.
Also, perhaps we can pray for my boy Chad, who is doing slightly better but is also at risk.
Mom’s plan, so to speak, is to contact her insurance, find the facility, and then hold an intervention. This may take a few days.
Mom and I would be eternally grateful. Humbly, Wolfie and Mary
5:42 pm on February 10th, 2013
Staff: See the O’Howlers post of 5:07 PM.
5:44 pm on February 10th, 2013
Oh yes, I missed O’Howlers link. That is really sad to know. I like the pet stores that don’t have puppies or kittens, but host shelter adoption events.
5:46 pm on February 10th, 2013
Wolfie: Say no more…We are All here for you and your mom and have thinking of you in the past few days.
5:46 pm on February 10th, 2013
Dear Wolfie and Mary, We are really sorry to hear about Cody and Breena. We will be sending up prayers for them and you.
6:06 pm on February 10th, 2013
We here are praying too, Wolfie. Does everyone want to do a prayer at the standard Plunderer Prayer Time tonight? We are not so goo with writing a prayer for all tho…
6:11 pm on February 10th, 2013
Luna, you are quite a mom! Belle Starr is such a cutie, I can imagine how adorable she was when she born. How did you manage to raise your Belle, and Anabelle ‘s four?
6:17 pm on February 10th, 2013
Wolfie and Mary, please know that you are always in my heart, thoughts, and prayers, as well as your boys. I truly pray for Cody that he can make it through rehab, and become a better, more responsible person. My strongest prayers also go out to Chad and Breena. My the Creator embrace you all.

8:04 pm on February 10th, 2013
Downsize!….The word being thrown around here is downsizing…sniff!…This would mean getting rid of stuff. My friend has already “downsized” but her mother has not and as much as she loves throwing other guys stuff away (me and Beau’s stuff included) she hates getting rid of her own stuff…grunt!
8:08 pm on February 10th, 2013
Westminster!…So the Westminster Kennel Club is on but it was recorded in 2012….sniff!…Whats up with this? Is this years show coming up soon?…grunt!…Is this show a reminder of who won last year?…heh!
8:11 pm on February 10th, 2013
Pop is a bit under the weather, so he wants us all to go to bed. Wolfie, we will say our bedtime prayers for your boys. Please wrap the quilt around you. You have done a very good job, and now it is tiime to ask forces bigger than us to take over. Love you. Nighty night.

Rio: I think that the Westminster Kennel Club show starts tomorrow night…8 PM EST.
8:31 pm on February 10th, 2013
Wolfie!…I will be saying my powerful pug-prayers for Cody and your family…sniff!…Rehab will only help him if he has a change of Heart. He must want to change. So that is what I will be praying for….wheeze!
8:33 pm on February 10th, 2013
Stover!… Ah Ha! So this re-run is a refresher course so we remember who won last year….heh!heh!…Very good timing..sniff!…I’m sure there was a Pug involved.

A pug has been involved in most of my life’s greatest successes.

Junior!…How ya doing son?..heh!…How’s it looking for you to make the Team this year?…snort!…You’ve got two races under yer belt now, maybe the Giant will consider you for the Big One…heh!…But don’t feel bad if he thinks you need one more year to become the best you can be…wuffle!…No shame in waiting another year. It will be all for your own good son…sniffle!
8:44 pm on February 10th, 2013
Let’s see if I can get this video up from the large computer.
This is funny, because Mac ended up knocking into me and the video looks at the tops of trees for awhile. Snort!

Mac!…The Newf is huge!…grunt!
8:59 pm on February 10th, 2013
Rio: My mama told you last night that the first round of vet checks could be up to 24 dogs. This morning while they were out in the kennel, my mama asked the Giant who was his 24. He only listed off the 20 he’s been training as the race team this year. Guess what? My name was the fist listed! It could be that they were standing next to me, but my name was definitely in the mix. Can you believe?

Puss N’ Boots!…sniff! Well!
10:45 pm on February 10th, 2013

The best part of Melanie’s video was the flopping of the ears while trouncing through the snow, seeing how blue the sky was and Melanie’s giggle at the end.
I have much work to be done before I sleep. Night, all youse.

Thank you, all, for your prayers. I feel your love, and I need it tonight.

4:38 am on February 11th, 2013
Wolfie: I wonder if there would be more giggling than working if the mini gathering last summer was any indication…
More to Wolfie: Get thee to the Quilt!
