Good morning, everyone! Yetch, dog flu? No thank you, amigo. Mom says she’ll be sure to get the HOH vaccinated if it moves out of the Chicago area. Barb, be warry for your gals.
It a springy Thursday. Maybe a Tally Ho Thursday!

Good morning all. There has been a lot about canine flu on our local news for about a month. Doggy daycare centers and rescue meet and greets have been canceled. Evidently the canine flu is different than bordetella (kennel cough).
Warm here, but dangerous storms with hail and possible tornadoes coming later.
Off to work again. Already told Nicole that I cannot work tomorrow, because I know that request is coming.
9:01 am on April 9th, 2015
Hi Chet: We read about that Canine Flu the other day.
Scary Stuff!
Some Good News from Nana!!
Larry has been moved out of ICU. He still has a long stint in rehab ahead of him, but he’s on the road Back to Health.
Once again our Powerful Plunderer Prayers and Healing Quilt have worked their magic.
Thank You Everyone.

B, This is very interesting: http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/apr/08/massive-plant-that-waited-80-years-to-flower-is/

Masquers, even though you sent the agave info to B, mom read it, too. Very interesting article.

Our century plant bloomed in 2007 here at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens. The plant smells like decaying flesh and was named Morty. It grew so tall before blooming that glass panels had to be removed from the roof.

Mom and I have been looking at the artwork for the new C&B. Again, we just love it, but we do think Chet is the one standing up against the fence and MiniMe is in the background. Wonder if Bernie is going to end up with 2 dogs??
10:21 am on April 9th, 2015
I had never heard of dog flu.
Thank you for the article Masquers. Matthaei Gardens are beautiful but I haven’t been there of a while. I don’t remember the tree but I’ll go out there later in the spring to see what they’ve done with the seeds.
We have thunderstorms here.
Good morning all.

Good news about Larry.
10:27 am on April 9th, 2015
Greetings!
Although I am still in part-time lurk mode, I decided to post today.
BooBear: I got a suspicious looking e-mail from your mom yesterday. I quickly hit the delete button.
Loved the picture on last night’s blog of Doc and my VBFF on the loveseat. I did notice that Belle Starr’s side looked rather sparkly.
So, my friend since 5th grade, Fran, is a member of the Friar’s Club, and was asked to join their softball team. As a result, yesterday we went to a batting cage to practice batting technique. While I am not a member of the team, or will ever be a part of any softball team, I got out there and gave it the old college try. Now I need an Icy Hot patch. It was fun, and I have an even greater respect for baseball players who go out there and hit 90 mile an hour fastballs 400 feet out. There are existing pictures of me in full batting mode, but you will never see them here.
(in my meekest voice) I am sorry, but I am not liking the new cover. HRH, B: I apologize in advance for any grammatical errors.
10:28 am on April 9th, 2015
Way to go for Larry! Plunder on. But you know he is still on our list…of those who need pawsitive thoughts.
10:33 am on April 9th, 2015
Hi Rose. I like the colors on the new cover. It will be interesting to see who is who. Unlike BooBear, I think the dog in the back with just head and ears showing is Chet.
10:37 am on April 9th, 2015
Dog flu. Take extra precautions.
BearSpiritDog: Great news about Larry! I bet he uses your Nana as an inspiration for working hard in rehab in order to get back to his home.
Masquers: Sheesh! You can tell my state of mind from the fact that I wept at that 80 year old plant dying. As I read further in the article I see that it will live on in many ways. It is the circle of life.
I am going to try to catch up on yesterday’s blog postings. AM rainy day here so excellent for staying inside and sorting through stuff. I am NOT going to be taking boxes and boxes of books home with me.

10:39 am on April 9th, 2015
Many of you may already know this but the saguaro cactus only grows in the Sonoran Desert of the southwest. They can grow to 70′. Some never grow arms but many grow multiple arms.

10:41 am on April 9th, 2015
Dawson, looks like some interesting titles in the foto 🙂
10:45 am on April 9th, 2015
HOH: I want to go to the desert.
Those books are free and I do have plenty more.
10:47 am on April 9th, 2015
Dawson: Quite an impressive stack of books there. You have been very busy! And no need to take the books home with you. As they say…a picture is worth a thousand words…in this case very true.
Take fotos of everything you love and it will always be available to you.
BooBear: I can’t wait until the latest C&B mystery is in my paws! I do like the cover and think, being the bigger dog, Chet is the one at the fence.
10:50 am on April 9th, 2015
Impressive cactus. Just another thing that makes the Southwest so beautiful.
Hi Rose!
Off to wonderfluffing!
BBL
11:00 am on April 9th, 2015
Just a darned minute…Chet may have failed the jumping test at K-9 school, but it wasn’t the jumping so therefore… Well, suffice it to say, Chet would clear that puny low fence without a second thought, amigo.
11:15 am on April 9th, 2015
Woo hoo for Larry! Great news, and prayers will continue.
Dawson – any orphaned books by Alex M Smith will be gladly rehomed here. We are happy to pay adoption/shipping fees!
Rose – you go, girl! Batting cage practice – good for you.
Tipper and Gilly insist that the background shadow is a Corgi. Silly girls.
11:24 am on April 9th, 2015
On Facebook, Chet the Dog is showing the upcoming book cover and states, “Any guesses on who the little dude beside Chet might be?”
BooBear is correct. (I am wondering why Chet doesn’t jump over the fence.)
11:46 am on April 9th, 2015
Anyone want a set of the Hunger Games books?
Rose: I would love to see a picture of you in full batting mode.
Tupper’s Mama: Those books are yours.
12:16 pm on April 9th, 2015
Our house looks a lot like that book collection. Mom says that is one reason she only buys special books now. (Not to mention tha fact that her move to Chattanooga was over weight because of all the boxes of books.) Hey Pookey, I asked you not to mention it.
12:38 pm on April 9th, 2015
We thought it was Chet standing against the fence. Just because he didn’t jump over doesnt mean he can’t!
Big storms here. Hope the car doesn’t get hailed on before I can get home to tuck it safely into the garage.
Good news about Larry!
Interesting story about the aguave plant. Is that plant used to make aguave liquor?
12:45 pm on April 9th, 2015
Barb, I’ve been wondering for awhile now why sometimes your names are all in caps and sometimes not. Duh! Posting from work or home. Got it!
1:38 pm on April 9th, 2015
The question wasn’t asking why he “can’t” jump over the fence. The question is asking why he doesn’t jump over the fence.
2:16 pm on April 9th, 2015
I am very happy to hear Nana’s friend Larry is on the road to tip-top!
2:34 pm on April 9th, 2015
Wose: Nana says it was the Plunderer Prayers. She is sure of it!
(and, of course, the Quilt)
Larry’s brother says he is in an Ornery Mood. Good for him! That means he is on his way to Feeling Tip Top.
2:35 pm on April 9th, 2015
Dawson: We think it is Wolfie’s Mom who likes the Hunger Games Books.
2:44 pm on April 9th, 2015
BSD–Delighted to hear the good news about Larry! that plus the news of Islamic State freeing 200 Yazidi people they had been holding makes this a splendid day!
I’ll wait to weigh in on other issues discussed here except to say that I’m glad the next book has C and B back home in the southwest.
2:59 pm on April 9th, 2015
Diane: How is Conan feeling today? Any News on When he’ll be Home?
3:35 pm on April 9th, 2015
Bear, I am very thankful and happy Larry is improving.
Me too, Diane. I am glad Chet and Bernie will be back home in the Southwest.
Wose, The batting cage sounds like fun…a good way to celebrate the start of the Baseball season.
4:17 pm on April 9th, 2015
For those of you who don’t get snow, here is a pretty snow scene.

4:18 pm on April 9th, 2015
Maybe the little dude is Iggy? But I think it is the puppy introduced previously.
Way to go, Larry!! Plunder on!!!
4:30 pm on April 9th, 2015
M’s & L’s Mom: Ugh! But at least it is dissappearing.
4:32 pm on April 9th, 2015
Mp & LL’s Mom…”pretty” snow scene? Have y’all lost yer senses? Looks like Indianopolis in April!. GAH! Good: a) Hunger Games have found a home, b) Larry is improving…not in that order, c) Wose is awound. and any other GOOD things.
5:14 pm on April 9th, 2015
Good detective work, MP/LLMom!
We were just making a joke about the fence, not being critical.

The three intrepid warriors return from chasing a bear out of the yard

Very cute, but I wish you would have run out and filmed the bear too! Are you a wimp? Just kidding. My earliest memory of a nightmare involves a bear, and I still remember it 63 years later.
Know what I dream about repeatedly? Chickens! What a surprise. Does anyone else have a subject they dream about often?
7:06 pm on April 9th, 2015
Barb – wish I could have gotten the bear too – but when I went out to see what the 3 were barking about, all I saw was the south end going over the back fence.
When I was younger, I often had a nightmare about being in a runaway car with no driver. Hmmm
7:22 pm on April 9th, 2015
T & G’s mama. I am thinking these dreams have something to do with feeling out of control. Mine usually involve me going to the chicken coop and being afraid to open the door because I have not fed or watered them for an extended period. Not always the same scene, but always the same theme. Another reoccurring dream involve dogs running amuck and trying to save them.
7:26 pm on April 9th, 2015
Sorry to be M.I.A. so much. It is a busy time.
BSD, we are so happy that Larry is recovering. Whew!
Dog flu sounds very scary, but cat flu would be worse. Tee hee!
We think the little guy is mini me also.
Meashka was supposed to go to the doc tonight because she lost her appetite for a week or so. Then, suddenly, she found it once again! So Mom cancelled the appointment. But guess what? Kat is limping and won’t put weight on her left front. It doesn’t stop her from running though. If you’d see her run, you would understand why. She is so fast and light on her feet, she really doesn’t put weight on any one leg. She holds her leg up while standing, and has a bad limo when walking. sigh. So her appointment is for tomorrow. Mom is hoping that by tomorrow, Kat will no longer be limping, and that appointment can be cancelled.
That’s about all the news that’s fit to print.
Oh! Mom wants to know what the commercial is that Fern is starring in.
7:28 pm on April 9th, 2015
I dream about food. What do you think that means?
7:34 pm on April 9th, 2015
In our dreams, our barks aren’t loud and our running isn’t very fast 🙁
8:12 pm on April 9th, 2015
Fern, we think it means you are a rteally special chickie. chickie, chicken who does as she will! But we like it anyway, chick!
8:18 pm on April 9th, 2015
Turning off the computer. Lots of thunder, and tornadoes heading this way. May have to head for the basement. Be back tomorrow, Dog willing!
8:20 pm on April 9th, 2015
T.C: It is a commercial for Geico. A Johnny Cash song is used in the commercial which I don’t know, but I like it very much.

8:49 pm on April 9th, 2015
Nailbiting this early in the season is a real?
8:55 pm on April 9th, 2015

8:59 pm on April 9th, 2015
Just be glas it is not 1001 Arabian nights!
9:00 pm on April 9th, 2015
glaD…big paws 🙁
9:07 pm on April 9th, 2015
There was snow last night. I also had about a quarter inch of solid ice on my windshield. Spring needs to arrive.
9:07 pm on April 9th, 2015
Love the commercial, but that isn’t Fern. It’s Isabel! She is the smartest one.
A tornado just hit Rochelle, IL. Is that near BM&L?
9:48 pm on April 9th, 2015
Howlers – it is about 70 miles away. She should be out of the danger zone based on the tornado track
9:56 pm on April 9th, 2015
Weather!….Wild and Crazy!…snort!…So far my back yard is not in its path…yet!…grunt!…I remember last year when my friend said she was huddled in a men’s locker room with a tornado over head…wheeze!…The hotshot had gone outside to roll up his truck windows and looked up. The sky was spinning and he ran inside and said the sky was falling and everyone needed to get into a smelly men’s locker room…gasp!
10:05 pm on April 9th, 2015

Rio, Are you prepared to deal with the bears in Tupper’s forest?
10:24 pm on April 9th, 2015
