“Have we noticed more scratching around here?” Spence says.
“No,” says Admin. “This is a public service!”
Welcome Rambo.

Good Friday Morning to All!
B&M, Thinking most excellent thoughts for you!
Pssst, Beau, when you get a chance blog in. I’ll tell you how to load your B&N gift card on your Nook.
Meashka is up top.
Hope everyone enjoys their Friday!

BTW, Any human allergy advice?????
9:03 am on August 3rd, 2012
Dreaded allergies. I hope Audrey and Pearl are okay.
Good morning Rose and all.
9:03 am on August 3rd, 2012
Good Morning, All!
Rambo is not quite what we were picturing when we saw his name. He is a cutie!
The girls here get itches every summer, especially Meashka. Her itches are from scabies, which our v-e-t says are passed from canines. We suspect those foxes whose beds we love to roll around in. We have to get series of ivermectin shots when we get that.
Siber, Pop is teaching some Math to Dima (he doesn’t think girls can learn Math). What Dima has learned is that anything times 0 equals 0. So while 1 times 0 equals 0, so too 4 times 0 equals 0. Pop thinks that is a good lesson for next time you want to rely on our brainpower when guessing someone’s occupations. Just sayin’.

Good morning everybody.
Hi Wose.
10:01 am on August 3rd, 2012
Good morning all.
Mama says she won’t be doing much hand work today. Something about a “carfull of tunnels” or some such. Anyway, whatever she is talking about- she got shots in the wrists for it and she says it hurts more now than before, but that is just from the shots and that goes away in a day or so. We sure hope so – she can’t even pick us up to snuggle right now. We actually have to climb up on the couch OURSELVES to sit in her lap. Oh, the injustice of it all.
10:04 am on August 3rd, 2012
Good morning all. Barb is at work doing a countdown for her last day. She has a whole box of tissues at her side, due to the extreme sadness of the day. NOT!
Boy, were the Olympics exciting last night or what!!! Congrats to Michael Phelps and Gabby Douglas. That little girl is amazing. What is the issue with her hair? Some sort of complaints about it?
10:08 am on August 3rd, 2012
YAWN!…We stayed up way too late last night watching the Games!….Wooooooo!…But who cares, they only come around once every 4 years…snort!snort!… Beau even came downstairs and watched Gabby win the Gold last night…heh!heh!
10:09 am on August 3rd, 2012
GAHHHH!…Get off my Logon!!!!…dammit!
10:20 am on August 3rd, 2012
Hi Sammie!
Beau, what version of the Nook do you have?
10:36 am on August 3rd, 2012
Good morning all! OLYMPICS! Cool for all our guys and guyettes.
Saw a picture I like. I thought the Giant might come down and build this for me. The only problem that I can see is our river has hardly any water in it!

Rose!…Beau has no idea what you are talking about…grunt!…(heh!heh!)
10:43 am on August 3rd, 2012
I’m glad Spence is putting up posts about canine allergies. Mom has learned that even some experienced dog owners do not know allergies in dogs show up as itchy skin instead of runny noses and sneezing.
Fellow Sibers, I will agree with your dad’s math because he sounds a lot smarter in math than I am.

Since we were on this subject yesterday: Macy’s cake last night…It is a Gila Monster, which is found only in southern Arizona, Chet and Bernie’s desert. Gila monsters are poisonous, but they are a shy reptile.
I got an email from Amazon. My Kindle will be here on Monday.
10:56 am on August 3rd, 2012
Rio! You are very cruel….
Beau on your Nook, go to HOME-SETTINGS-APP SETTINGS-SHOP-ADD GIFT CARD. These are the instructions for the Color Nook. The instructions may be similar for the various Nooks.
Rio, what will your first book order be on your Kindle? Please let me know which you prefer….I may break down and buy a Kindle too.
10:58 am on August 3rd, 2012
Yipee! SiberH will have a Kindle on Monday. You are becoming so techno dog!!
11:04 am on August 3rd, 2012
Look on the Facebook space on the right of the screen. ARCs of Fistful of Collars will be given away in a contest.
Rose: Now I’m curious. Why would you get a Kindle if you have a Nook? (I’ve never tried the Nook but assume that it is similar to the Kindle.)
11:05 am on August 3rd, 2012
Rose, The Kindle will be in my house on Monday. This does not mean I will be brave enough to start using it then.
11:15 am on August 3rd, 2012
SH: All you have to do is go to the Kindle Store on Amazon, order what book/s you want, and Whispernet does the rest. It only takes seconds for a download.
11:22 am on August 3rd, 2012
B, I like the fact that some of the Kindles are smaller and lighter, although B&N makes a very small one too. I also think that Amazon has a larger inventory of books, than B&N.
11:26 am on August 3rd, 2012
Zoë’s Kindle Touch is coming in on Friday. She will be transferring things from her old Kindle to the new one.
Note to self . . . do NOT let Franklin drool on your Kindle.
Allergies. Hate Allergies. Canine or human. Yuck.
11:30 am on August 3rd, 2012
SiberH, all huskies are brave and noble. You are too….because I said so.
11:44 am on August 3rd, 2012
Nonplussed!…Whats that mean? Grumpy?…heh!
11:50 am on August 3rd, 2012
Thank you, Rose.
Stover, Do you order more than one book at a time for your Kindle?
I think I can also shop for books on Amazon’s website for my Kindle like I have always shopped for books there. I would simply click on the Kindle edition instead of the hardback edition. Correct?
11:51 am on August 3rd, 2012
“Nonplussed” is a state of bewilderment or confusion. It’s from two Latin words meaning “no more.”
Rose: Yes, I think Amazon has a larger selection of books.
11:54 am on August 3rd, 2012
SH: Yes, I have ordered more than one book at a time for my Kindle. I’ve never ordered directly on the Kindle but it has an Amazon store app which I could use. I have a Kindle Fire but I think they all (the touch screen types) have the Amazon app.
11:56 am on August 3rd, 2012
SH: Sorry. I misunderstood your question. Yes, when ordering a book from Amazon you can just click on the “Kindle edition.”
11:56 am on August 3rd, 2012
Nonplussed!…My friend is nonplussed this morning at the busy-damned-place because when she looked at the Sept. Calendar there are a few special people who have vacation scheduled…grunt!…No one was allowed vacation during August and September, remember? No Cabin, no river!…snort!…Nonplussed is probably to tame a word for what she is feeling right now…heh!
12:04 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Rio: LOL! Yes, I think “nonplussed” would be tame to describe what your friend is feeling.
12:14 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Magnificent points altogether, you just won a brand new reader. What could you recommend about your publish that you simply made a few days in the past? Any sure?
12:29 pm on August 3rd, 2012
That cake last night was a fright! Well done, but not something I would want to eat.
12:31 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Thank you, Stover.
Boy, Chewbacca dog is more confused than I am.
I know, it is spam. One would think they could create spam in clear, understandable English.
1:03 pm on August 3rd, 2012
SiberH!…Its hard to do if you don’t speak English in the first place…grump!
2:18 pm on August 3rd, 2012
I load all my B&N gift cards on my account using my computer. I also order the books I want downloaded on my computer and then they appear on my Nook. I’m not techie enough (yet) to do it entirely on my Nook 🙂
The fair in Fairbanks starts today which means that it is scheduled to rain. Of course.
It is definitely getting colder up here–in the 40s by evening. The last two nights when I walked the dogs I had to wear a polar fleece jacket and was still cold–I even considered wearing gloves! A couple of weeks ago a tinge of yellow started appearing on the trees. Don’t you think late July is too soon to herald the coming of winter?
This is a walk from last week–all on the flat land that leads to a dike on the flood plain. The pink flowers are Fireweed which I know grows in Canada but don’t know if it is in other parts of the country. Lady went walking through a marsh and her legs ended up looking like she was wearing black stockings! I then walked her over to a lake so she could wash herself off. Siber-H: we think of you on our walks. If you ever make it up here, we will have a good romp out in the open and off the leash.
2:21 pm on August 3rd, 2012
C.Hobbit-Harris, the Pack would love to join your off leash walks through the flood plain. They love marshes and lakes.
Need to do some more pool work. Hopefully I will not get as cold as yesterday.
2:35 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Melanie–Wow, a herd of Newfs loose on the flood plain. They could run for miles. I wonder what would happen when they encounter a moose? It boggles the mind.
2:37 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Nook!…I see said the blind pug…heh!heh!
2:44 pm on August 3rd, 2012
CHobbit!… I can just see my friend doing all this gift-card set-up for Beau…snort!…He acts dumb when he doesn’t want to do something. Like if he doesn’t want to go outside and someone else wants him to, he will pretend he doesn’t understand the words “Go Out Now!”. He gets a blank look on his face and his eyes glaze over..heh!heh!
3:04 pm on August 3rd, 2012
CHarris, Rebecca mentioned a few days ago about seeing some yellow in the trees. I know autumn arrives early in Alaska, but this seems too early.
Mom says that if I make it up to visit you in Alaska, you would have to walk me on a leash. If let off leash, I will not come back, period. Most Sibers will not come back. The good news is I am very well behaved on a leash.
3:13 pm on August 3rd, 2012
C.Harris: We have fireweed in Michigan.

Dear Sirs, Madams and FourFooteds;
We are the K.A.T. – the Kitty Anti-Defamation Team. It has come to our attention that some of your members are guilty of the wrongful use of anti-feline terms and phrases in your blog conversations. We are aware that this blog is named for a dog, and is mostly populated by lovers of said canines; however hate speech is always wrong, and must be curtailed immediately.
Therefore, we respectfully request that you refrain from using such terms as “letting the cat out of the bag” attributed to certain Howlers, or the term “Wrotten Kats”, attributed to Tupper and Gilly, and an insurmountable list of horrific and slanderous comments made by an Evil Pug.
Please remember the scientific names for our respective species as rendered in the original Latin:
F -undamentally
E -legant
L -oyal
I -ntelligent
N -oble
E-lite
and refrain from insulting your betters, you silly
C-omically
A-bsurd
N-innies

E-ducation.
Respectfully yours,
Lion(el) T.(iger) Feline

CHobbit: The fireweed is almost to the top in our neck of the woods. Just today, we saw leaves falling on our property. There was a shooting on the highway this morning that blocked my access to work so I am working from home; AJ cleaned out the fireplace so I could have a fire going.
SiberH: Forget the leash, what about a harness and a gang line?
Melanie: AJ has his toolbox packed and ready to go so he could work on your little project. Luna had him by the scruff of his neck to blurr him to the Pack, but they ran into problem. According to Luna, the last red head she had by the scruff was much lighter.
3:35 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Rebecca, Mom would approve of that, but you would have to be careful never to let me loose. There is a reason us five Sibers on this blog admire Whitey-Lance so much. He is one of us!!
What is up the the Kats? Jeez They have gone bonkers.
3:38 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Anti-Kat!? ..What!..snort!…All these spammers have to GO!…grunt!
3:48 pm on August 3rd, 2012
SiberH: Just imagine it—you running on the same team with W.L., Orion, Pancho and Lefty! That would be the Kat’s meow (said to avoid the wrath of the KAT).
3:50 pm on August 3rd, 2012
T&G: Carful of tunnels! Belle Starr thinks that sound fun. She likes riding in the car.
4:12 pm on August 3rd, 2012
K.A.T.: Isn’t it naptime?
Snowhook Bella: SiberH pulling a sled? Yes, but possibly not in the direction you want to go. Heh! Move over Whitey-Lance.
4:40 pm on August 3rd, 2012
T&G: I hope your mum starts feeling better. That is a painful condition.
I have a feeling that K.A.T. is not a spammer.
4:55 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Dear Lion(el) T.(iger) Feline
Pride Leader, K.A.T.,
The Newf Pack treats all Kats with due respect. They will not bell any Kat. They will always let the Kat out of the bag. They do not herd Kats. If Kats drag something in, they let the Kats play with it. They will not put a Kat on a hot tin roof. They certainly will not swing a Kat to see how big the room is. They will not try to see if a a Kat has nine lives.
In fact, they feel that a Kat can look at a Newf even if that Kat is wearing pajamas.
AND, if it’s raining Kats and Canines they will make sure they fall first so Kats have something to land on.
They have no wish to have their noses wacked.
5:01 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Dawson: When Tenzing and I first learned how to mush, he spent a fair bit of time starring back at me. I spent a fair bit of time running along side him while my mushing mentor drove the sled. Tenzing and I both learned the value of running in the same direction as everyone else. I don’t think SiberH’s friends on the team will let him run in the wrong direction for long. Plus, I think SiberH is a quick study.
5:08 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Melanie: LOL!! (Whispering): What does “They will not bell any Kat” mean?
5:13 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Heh,
Hey there Lion T. Feline.
Soul brother.
Way to take it to the dogs!
Power to the P u s s i e s.
5:15 pm on August 3rd, 2012
You go, Mr. KAT
WhoooooOOoooo
5:35 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Barb here. Guess there is no big fanfare going on here. Pat said she wanted to take me out to lunch sometime before I leave, but not today, she was too busy. Also she probably didn’t want me taking more than my allotted 30 minutes for lunch. So everyone is gone for the day, and I will walk out of here a free woman in 27 minutes!
I agree with Melanie, I don’t think that was a spammer. Well the first one was a spammer, but not the second one. And what do they mean,we never say anything negative about sweet little kitties.
5:37 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Bee, I think that means to put a bell on a collar around a cat’s neck to alert birdies.
5:44 pm on August 3rd, 2012
B&M: It’s just as well, CL can’t hold a candle to the fanfare that the Plunderers can do. You say the word and AJ will get the portable burled arch ready to lift you up to to celebrate your final day at CLL. Good-bye CLL, hello bike shop!
5:46 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Barb: freedom is a good thing. And no awkward good-byes with the CL. Peace, joy & happiness heading your way.
5:51 pm on August 3rd, 2012
BTW C Harris, You are looking very svelte in your new Avatar!
You’re rockin the house!
5:51 pm on August 3rd, 2012
I have been belled and I love it. My beautiful pink collar. There’s just one thing – I used to slip through the doorways right along with my people when they wanted to keep me out, for whatever stupid reason that might be. I think I’m losing my touch because now they know I’m there and I can’t sneak through between their feet. What’s up with that?
5:55 pm on August 3rd, 2012
B&M: I was thinking the same thing. CHobbit isn’t much bigger than a bag of dog food.
6:07 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Barb- WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO.
FREEDOM!!!!
Dont forget to make a rude gesture as you take your new plant and go. We are officially twirling for you!
6:10 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Barb – purrs of happiness from us to you.
And Mr Lion(el) – you are our Hero!!
6:24 pm on August 3rd, 2012

I continue with my days . . Today I made compost tea. Got the recipe from OTAS. I now wait around a week and ta da . . fertilized water.
I then did a bunch of stuff for Dan, and Zoe and YSAS.
Then I went in the pool and finished the dog dock. I learned how to use the straps with the winches so that sucker is NOT going to move!
THE POOL IS FREEZING!
Tomorrow is a rest day. I will take an old paperback book into the pool. Sit in the sunny part on our new in pool chair thingy.
6:35 pm on August 3rd, 2012
I forgot a couple of things. NO MORE CLL for Barb! YEA!
Bella, where did AJ end up?
6:37 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Melanie: About halfway down our half mile long drive way. It was a hard fought distance Luna will be quick to tell you.
6:48 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Melanie: Thank you. That is really interesting. I like the Dore illustration also.
7:31 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Barb, wishing joy, peace, and happiness!
7:36 pm on August 3rd, 2012
BooBear, how is our pal Gus doing?
7:42 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Foks, i can not keep my eyes open any longer. I’m glad I got the dock done. Maybe I’ll be able to stay awake until 8:30 tomorrow!
TTFN

Hip hip hooray for Barb!
No more CL forever!
Congratulations.
Enjoy.
Hi Wose! Wuv you!
8:51 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Waiting for news about Gus and Gus.
9:03 pm on August 3rd, 2012
KAT!… Any post about KAT(s) is spam to me!…grunt!
Giant!…what happened to AJ The Giant? Why is he half-way down the driveway?….snort!…I must have missed something during my speed reading of this here blog…grunt!
Work!…We’ve been working!working!working ever since my friend came home…sniff!…Someone down the street had free mulch so her mother wanted a bunch of it but we only have one little garden kart that grandma gave to my friend a long time ago….snort!…Boy is it squeaky…heh!…So she had to make about a million trips getting that mulch back to the garden area for her mother….wheeze!….Beau and I had to help and I’m pooped out now…grunt!
9:45 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Hmmmmphf!….Is everyone eating out this fine friday night?…grunt!…We are watching the Olympics and I think there will be popcorn later – after our walk…groan!…I’m too damned tired to walk anymore…sniff!
9:54 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Rio: Melanie asked if the Giant could build her a small cabin on the river. Luna tried to blurr him to the Pack so he could start the project. She took him by the scruff because he doesn’t have his blurring license. With one thing and another, Luna and this particular red head who is much bigger than Kat, he only made it as far as the driveway.
9:59 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Rebecca!…So does this mean that Melanie will not get her cabin on the River?….sniff!…This story sounds sort of familiar…grunt!
Walk!…NOOOOOOO!…yip!…We are going to get saddled up and go on our combined walk…sniff!…Beau is all excited and ready to piss his way through the whole neighborhood…grump!…I just want to stay and watch the Olympics and, OH by the way the Rockies are losing to the Giants right now…grump!sneeze!
10:02 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Rio: It just means Melanie will have to wait.
10:55 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Hey!…Track and Field events start today!….Wooooo!… This is so amazing to watch, are you kidding me!…snort!…Maybe even SiberH will watch some of these events with me…heh!…He wasn’t much for the gymnastics or swimming(which is still going on)…snort!
11:22 pm on August 3rd, 2012
More swimming? I wonder if brutal walks will ever become an Olympic event.
11:27 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Phelps!…He swam Again! today…grunt!…We are getting ready to watch what happened…sniff!…Lochke(sp?) is growing on us, but he seems unreliable…grunt!
11:30 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Brutal!…I’m sure CHobbit Harris would beat out my friend at the Brutal Walk competion….heh!…Our hills and valleys in this town are not as big as hers are in the Wilds Of Alaska…sniff!…Thank-dawg!
11:38 pm on August 3rd, 2012
WOW!…Another one for Phelps….sniffle!…He is the bestest of the best in my life-time anyways…wheeze!…My friend says she has been watching him swim since he was 15 years old. He was the little kid who was picked on at school and over-came adversity…heh!…This is his last Olympics (I think). We here hope he goes on to do important things, dork that he is…snorkel!
11:49 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Hey everyone – we get to post tonight, just to piss Rio off. We have been reading most of today, but not typing much; we are having sympathy pains with Mama. She says she will be much better tomorrow and will make up for lost time them. But for now, we will say goodnight and go sleep in our cool, air conditioned bedroom.
11:50 pm on August 3rd, 2012
We have been very busy here trying to clean up our house. Today floors got vacuumed and mopped. Tomorrow I will try to pick up all the stuff that normally lays around on table tops (and the floor when the table tops get full). Heh
Elliot (who has a bell) and A Catty Librarian and her daughter are coming through on their way to visit Maggie and Dawson and Dad. We will see them again in a week.
It is hard work cleaning up.
We are also watching those trampoline people. My goodness they jump very high. Totally amazing. I don’t know how they can walk after all that. I would think it makes them very very dizzy. It I did that once I would fall over instead of walking. They do it over and over again.
jeez.
Night all.
11:52 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Oh – we forgot to say- thanks for the pictures, CHobbit. We really don’t know nearly enough about the beauty of Alaska
11:59 pm on August 3rd, 2012
Trampoline!…people?….snort!…what the hell is Staff talking about? Is she a hoarder?….grunt!…One tends to wonder about her at times. Then on top of all that she has Alice and AbbieTheFat under foot…wheeze!
12:03 am on August 4th, 2012
((((sigh))))!…Someone thinks we should all go to bed now…sniff!….Lots to do this weekend and she has an important Project (maybe) to work on…grunt!…More later on that if I can ever wake up once I go to my warm soft bed where my baseball toys are in all the right places…sigh!yawn!
12:08 am on August 4th, 2012
Good night, Rio.
