Deflation, Footballs, Us

“What’s the big issue?” Admin says. “Chet deflates all kinds of balls as a matter of normal procedure, footballs included. Lighten up, everybody!”

Good morning, Amigos! I’m with Admin and Chet on this one. What good is a ball if I can’t deflate it?

Good morning Zeus and everyone! Admin is getting better. 3 sentences with no typots. We are particularly of tennis balls but our cousin, Lucky, love footballs. We bet he is quicker than Chet in the deflate dept.

Must go back and read last night’s later posts. What is this about ML moving into an assisted living? ML, aren’t you in your mid 50s? What are you thinking girl? Everyone is going to be 20+ years older than you.

  31. Barb, Maggie and Lucy
    1:45 pm on January 23rd, 2015

OK, back after reading the assisted living posts. We agree with several who mentioned a senior community where you have to be 55 or over. Sun City is a big one here. Mostly individual homes, but outside work is done for you. They have pools, tennis courts and activity centers. You can have pets, but no live-in kids.

That might be a good way to go, but you would still have to do your own meals. When I had surgery I went to a place that sold prepared meals. They were like homemade and better than grocery store frozen meals. Reasonably priced – about $4.00 per meal. I know you do not like to cook, so that could be an option. Do you have Seattle Sutton there? They will prepare all your meals and deliver twice a week.

ML, BSD is correct but life costs, too. WE think it is too soon for you to make any BIG or major life changes. When ever you think about a change, start a list. Write down “Pros” and “Cons” and “$$$” (for capital outlay). Then put it in a drawer for 2-3 weeks. Review it, and if it is still appealing, put it with other appealing ones until you are sick to death of them or one climbs to the top. Just sayin’. You know we only say this because we love you and you are still in a vulnerable place.

  39. Barb, Maggie and Lucy

BSD, You are right – $3-5,000 per month I believe, for nursing homes. Lower level assisted living would be less.

And yes, it is Del Webb who is the developer of Sun City. We have one in Huntley, which is a few miles south of Woodstock. It is really nice, and people love it there. I know you can have pets, but there may be fence restrictions.

On an Insurance Related Subject…Someone Here recently had a very Unpleasant Surprise at her local F A R M A C Y. When she went in to pick up a RX she was told there is now a $100 Deductible due upfront, which brought the total to over $200.
YEEP. At that Exorbitant Price it is no longer in the budget. She says she will now have to go to Plan 2, whatever that is.

I can usually clean the base pan but the upper pan ends up with half the finish scrubbed off (ugh). Am I doing something wrong or is there a better broiling pan out there that I don’t know about?

Oh NO!…CHobbit is going to try and burn down her house again with that delish flank steak!…Heh!heh!…Maskers and I were lost in a haze of smoke last time this happened. Or was it a haze of red wine?….sniff!…Now I cannot be sure. I just remember CHobbit running around trying to get the smoke out of the house…chorkel!

My head is trying to explode. Del Web communities are nice, but you still own your home, which I am trying to get away from. I want someone else to be responsible when the slab leaks, or the plumbing backs up, or the bricks fall off or any other number of kat-tastrophes that could happen. The cottages I looked at yesterday were very nice, a $3490 a month! In all fairness, that does include a meal, housekeeping, utilities, maintenance and other amenities, but it is a little hard to wrap my head around. It was so cute though. I would have to get rid of a lot of furniture, but that would be fine. I think I must sleep now and not think. Oh wait. I have not had dinner!

Thanks for letting me process. Expect more to come.
    Love y’all

We sent a check to Snowhook today. Don’t do Paypal.

ML, $42,000 is a pretty big chunk, and you still have all the other expenses – car, insurance, medical, clothing, entertainment, etc. I myself would not do it. If you want to avoid the pitfalls of home ownership, you might still be better off renting a home or condo. Do you have a financial planner or accountant you trust?

ML – at least you don’t have to make a voice right away. You are just in the thinking process.

Thieves and MPM – I have NO idea what you could be referring to. Alas, the neat, high power car we had when you were here has been traded in for the current vehicle. This one has a piddly little 4 cylinders. Poo

Hobbit – spray your broiler pan with Pam. If that doesn’t work, instead of scrubbing it, just spray it with oven cleaner and slip it into a plastic garbage bag overnight. Next morning, rinse it off and viola- no scrubbing. Also works on the old crud that gets stuck on pans.

Golinka!…That stuff about spraying the broiler pan with Pam is all well and good, but what about all the smoke alarms CHobbit is surly going to set-off while actually broiling the flank steak?…snort!…That is the real problem at paw…sniff!cough!cough!

If you put your exhaust fan on and crack a door or window for draft BEFORE you start the broiler, you have less chance of setting off the smoke alarm.

If you order take-out you have an even lesser chance of setting off the smoke alarm. Heh.

I ate smoke free. So did Sadie but I had to forgive her first for getting into the garbage while I was out. I am guessing that she doesn’t approve of the half rations she is on.

    Thank you Amalia

I agree with the Thieves. I never use the broiler. If I do whatever I cook is burned. I have a short attention span.

HOH’s sticky s key is funny.

I had a keyboard problem today. All of a sudden the attached type cover (which is what Microsoft calls the detachable keyboard) would not type. I had to use the onscreen keyboard and it covers up half the screen and is on the wrong slant and just plain annoys me.

But tech support fixed me right up. I had to download all available updates and then, thank dog, I can type again like normal. That is one of the reasons I did NOT get a tablet. I want to type like I used to type. Not hunt and peck.

Rio: I hope you and Masquers were in a wine haze that particular night. I was so embarrassed running around the house with alarms blaring. However I do know what circuit breaker to turn off now.

CHobbit!…If you remember Maskers and I were happily eating our flank steak and that pasta which cooked in a magical 4 minutes…snort!…While you were frantically dashing around fanning smoke alarms….heh!heh!…We could have helped, but you seemed to have it all in paw…chuffle!…Plus, after all that wine we were very hungry indeed!

Just got in from shoveling 6″ of fresh snow off my deck and driveway. It is still snowing but I thought I wouldn’t wait until morning when I might have 10+” to shovel. So yesterday I shoveled, this morning I shoveled and tonight I shoveled = hopefully this means good things for the Iditarod trail.

    Ooodles of noodles.

Fargo is trying to break a more than 70 year record for the least snow. I hope it will all go up to AK instead.

And now, for your listening pleasure, Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers, a band that rides in the back of Hot Rize’s bus and sometimes plays when Hot Rize takes a break.
