Good morning B&M and everyone! Whoa, Spencer will be in Decatur tomorrow…Saturday! We are a bit slow since we had to read last night’s posts. Wouldn’t want to put a paw in our mouths 🙂 The new friends look like they are on the job and professional.
We will have a wilting Wed. yet again 🙁 Hope it turns out differently for most of y’all. Karen, Truman and BooBear, know y’all are in our pawrayers.

Good morning. I am working in the office with Mommy today. She is not in a very good mood. I will fix it.
That poor cat with all of those dogs in FOC this morning! sheesh!

Spencer may not be in Georgia yet. Is he traveling and doing a little vacay before the weekend festival? He deserves a little down time after the hectic signing tour.

Our bet is OFA will do a little vacay after the Decatur partay. He’ll have nearly 2 weeks before the added Sept. sign-a-way 🙂

I’m wondering what it is with moths lately. There was one on my bedroom curtain this morning. I had to capture it inside a glass and put it outside. It was brownish gray with small dark spots on the wings but I can’t find it in my insect book.

T.C. , I am very happy to hear that you are spending time with your mommy today, and I am sure she is happy to have you there by her side.

Awesome, Thanks for sending the hug from Rose the puppy, to me!

Again, I would like to thank the best family I could have for your very kind words and loving thoughts. I love you all more than you will ever know.

Peaceful and loving thoughts are being sent to Karen, Truman, and BooBear.

Paws crossed that we can make it. It is 2 1/2 hours away. The Decatur Book Festival is a large fair. Spence will be doing a panel discussion with another mystery writer about characters. The info site is: .

T.C.: If anyone can brighten your mom’s day it’s you, you, you!
B: Yes, it would be great to see the festival online. We have always enjoyed it when Spence visits the Poisoned Pen in Arizona for that very reason.
Rose: We too are thinking of BooBear and family. Gus up top, reminding us to keep the love and prayers coming.

    Good morning all.
Bee – when we had all these beautiful, huge moths hanging out with us, a customer mentioned a smartphone ap that could identify photographed birds and insects. It was during the show, and we had forgotten about it until your post. Off to the ap store to see if we can find it.

Georgia!…If I remember correctly, and I usually do, Kirby T. Penworthy mentioned that Spencer’s son lived in Atlanta, or there abouts…snort!…I bet he will take some well deserved time-out to visit family when he is down south…snorkel!

    10:31 am on August 27th, 2014

Tupper’s Mama: We are in Awe of the many Symbols and Messages of late.
The smartphone app would be quite helpful in identifying the sightings.

Rio: We overheard Someone here talking about meeting Your Friend at the Airport on Saturday. Do you know anything about this?

Good morning and loving thoughts to all.

Does anyone ever pick up a free magazine called “Book Page” at your library? I have one here from August 2014, and on page 19, there is half a page devoted to “Meet Spencer Quinn.” Spence answers questions about “Paw and Order” in his own paw writing!

  22. B.Stover
    10:49 am on August 27th, 2014

Tupper’s Mama: I’ve been looking at images of moths online but still haven’t found a match. The moth this morning was about one inch in length.

Now I have what I think are two crane flies on my screen.

    10:54 am on August 27th, 2014

Rio: I have not yet gotten to “Completely Beside Ourselves.” Let me know if your friend likes it.

I just found out that there are over 160,000 species of moth and many are not yet described because they are hard to identify. Here’s a site from the University of Michigan:

    12:02 pm on August 27th, 2014

Bee – we went looking for moth pictures and names. Some were beautiful, some were weird, some were downright funny. There is a moth that camouflages itself by looking like bird poo. There is a moth for Belle Starr – the Elephant Moth that glitters. And there is a moth whose entire structure is colored on black and white leopard print – the caption said that it is often found at home in New Jersey. (We wonder if it has big hair and white lipstick too). tee hee

  34. Sage the Mage

Just want you to know that there is a Sage Moth, but no Basil, Tupper or Gilly moths. Just proves what I have been telling youse guys all along: Sage Rules!

(And I don’t really care what they are called- if they come in my house, I’m gonna eat ’em).

  35. B.Stover
    12:13 pm on August 27th, 2014

And, of course, I have to add this: “Moth” is derived from Old English “modde.” (The two “d”s are eths.)

  36. BearSpiritDog
    12:23 pm on August 27th, 2014

There is a wooly Bear Moth too…but a somewhat alarming side note is…Grizzly Bears EAT moths. Yeep! Best not to go there.

  37. MTMP
    12:23 pm on August 27th, 2014

T&G, we never even knew moths had lips, hehehehehe, joisey moths

We here are people sitting g-mother after treatment 3. Latest news is that there is a shortage of the stuff used to treat her until at least October. We are not happy. Hopefully, her type of C will understand that it is being put on hold for a month or so, no growing. grrrrrr All three of us want to grab someone by the pants leg. (plus Biddie)

Billy’s Buddy: Spencer’s penmanship has really improved if he is writing interviews long hand! Here is a copy. The SQ part is all the way at the bottom of the page.

MTMP: Good grief! As if you don’t have enough to worry about.

BooBear: If you need a lap to sit in, you can use mine. I’ll read a little Paw & Order to you.

MTMP, we’ve got lots of teeth for grabbing pant legs. (Blondie here) Since I am still a puppy, gnawing on things is almost my middle name, whatever that means.

Mom interrupts the dogs to say that moths in symbolism research has shown that the moth is the symbol of transformation!

“Moth gifts include the power of the whirlwind, ease of movement in darkness/shadow, transformation/metamorphosis, ability to confuses enemies, ability to find light in darkness, healing broken and unspoken messages.”

Wowser, whuda thunk that a moth could do all that? NO mothballs, please!

  42. Sage the Mage
    1:07 pm on August 27th, 2014

Macy, how terrible!!! How can this be??? Can’t they get that stuff from somewhere else in the country? GRRRrrrrr

HOH, T&G, et al: all of this about the transforming, darkness-to-light, healing, qualities of moths, along with so many sightings of moths, makes us think they are indeed providential for our friend Truman.

    Big Space?
HOH: Around here whenever a big space is cleared, something else almost immediately takes its place.
The ability to find light in darkness is a valuable attribute.

    Paws on Ice.
Rio: I am in the middle of a book too so I haven’t started Paw and Order beyond Chapter One. There is a copy of Pressure Drop here, I noticed, but no one has been brave enough to read it yet.

BStover: An interesting link to butterflies and moths. Started browsing one of the field guides until I got to ear wigs. By the way, your crane fly is also called a “mosquito hawk”.

We are reading a Tess Gerritsen book, Last to Die. It is the most recent in the Rizzoli and Isles series. I think she has another one coming out in December. I have to be reading something at all times, and this way I can pace myself with PAO.

Also picked up Hounded at the library. That is Rosenfelt’s newest.

And the third one in the stack is The Magic of Ordinary Days by A. Creel, I believe. I absolutely LOVE that movie and have watched it two or three times. Has anyone else seen the movie or read the book?
