Crimebake

“You’re doing a workshop at New England Crime Bake?” Spence says.

“This Friday at 3,” says Admin.

“I thought you had tennis at noon.”

“The drive only takes an hour.”

“What if you hit traffic – it’s a Friday.”

“Hmm. See – there’s plot point right there.”

“But you don’t think in plot points. How do you think, if you don’t mind my asking?”

“Is that the phone?”

    Greetings!

PA/SQ, Play a good set, and have a good time. Lucky is the person who takes a writing class with you! I’m jealous!

    Any news on Nana?

Today is the day I officially become unemployed. Details at 7.

RIO! CHobbit is so lucky to have your friend’s Christmas Tree. It is very lovely. Make her put her name back on it!

Those under the quilt I send good, healing thoughts to you all.

I’m laughing because I first read this as “crab bake.” The crime bake sounds interesting. Have fun Spence.

Rio: Your friend’s latest project is beautiful.

Rose: I hope everything works out well today. I’ll check the Google Doodle in a bit.

Good morning, everyone! Crime Bake sounds interesting. Rose, you are in our thoughts today. Hoping for more Nana News today. With winter fast approaching we all need to be as healthy as possible to withstand cold and blustery weather. Our advice is 1) lots of homemade chicken noodle soup and 2) get cracking on getting healthy.
Have a tuneful Tuesday (la, la, la)

I’m with B.Stover. Except I read “Clam Bake”. Wish I could be there. For Crimes, Clams and Crabs.

Had a difficult morning with a certain car rental agency. Inflexible is the word for them. I wrote on their FaceBook page.

Then I saw the following. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wiqXkoRxcQ

It made my morning. Lots of things to comment on from last night, but I am off to get punctured.

We are with Melanie. We read Clambake!

Melanie, hope Enterprise is not the problem car rental agency. Barb’s niece works there in their headquarters and loves the company.

    Off to the grocery store.

Today’s Google Doodle celebrates the 120th birthday of Raymond Loewy who was an industrial designer. Among many things, he designed the Shell Oil logo, four Pennsylvania railroad locomotives, and the 1968 Elna Lotus sewing machine. Wonder if Staff is familiar with that. (Thank you Rose.)

Yesterday’s Google Doodle celebrated the 84th birthday of Shakuntala Devi who was known as the “human computer.” (Thank you Dawson.)

Staff: I really like the motion quilting design that you posted last night. I’ve never seen any quilting like that before.

Plot point, eh? I’m learning something again today.

I would like any one of those beautiful cars designed by the google doodle guy.

Tuneful Tuesday? I was awakened by a gentle shake and I hummed a little tune. Another shake, more tune. Are you a musical instrument? says the shaker. Yes says I. The tune? Camptown Ladies Sing This Song: Do Dah, Do Dah.

Prayers for a good result for Wose’s meeting, a good workout for BearSpirit’s Mom, no more difficulties for Melanie today.

I’m like Barb, off to do grocery shopping, it being the first Tuesday of the month which is 10% off day.

Dawson, the discount day for shopping here is “Old Fart Wednesday” which is why mom goes then. (OK, so maybe they don’t call it old fart 🙂 ) The Peck of Parrots now have clean domiciles for another week. Really overcast and chilly here but the weather folks say sunny and high 60’s. Lit the gas log to knock the dampness off and darling, delightful, dingy Darah honked at the fireplace 🙂

Just returned Spider Woman’s Daughter to the library. Liked it very much. You will not be disappointed if you are a Hillerman fan.

So far we have read 5 of Donna Ball’s Raine Stockton books. They are good and easy to read, but the printing is not the most professional. Did anyone who reads these books notice that they are printed by Blue Merele Publishing? Since Donna B. had a collie and Australian Shepherds, we think it is her own company. Any comments?

Barb, Thanks for the Hillerman book review. Mom will read it now that everyone else has read it and given it good reviews.

    Paws crossed for Rose today.

Mama was working at the polls this morning. She had a (large) cup of coffee at 5:30 am, and another cup at 7:00 am, and a third cup at 9:30 am. She is not used to all this caffeine.

Commissioner C.Hobbit has a beautiful piece of art coming her way.

    Cheese Grater . . Excellent.

I am not deflated. JonnieG suggested Zipper vehicles. I wrote to their headquarters.

It was not that on Barb and MagPie. It was the we’re “number 1”. Which interestingly enough they do not use anymore.

The day is not wasted! I got to use the word “conundrum” in a sentence.

    Resting now . .

  21. Barb & Maggie
    1:50 pm on November 5th, 2013

That comment about dogs is very profound and totally true. The only two legged I ever wanted to bite (and would have if she had come any closer) was the Crazy Lady that Barb worked for. I know a perp when I see one!

T & G, did you take before pictures?

Waiting for rain to start here.

Barb is giving me a happy pill in a bit, then taking me in for a manny-petty. Does anyone else dislike that term?

Melanie, Is that the one that starts with H?

  23. Tupper and Gilly
    2:08 pm on November 5th, 2013

Barb and Maggie – yes, we do have before pictures. We can’t wait to see the after!
When we took the first picture, it was so we could upload it to the paint site, and virtually paint the house so we could see how it looked. But the paint site says the picture is too big, so that idea went by the wayside.
Guess it will be what it will be and we dang well better like it.

Melanie – we often get to use the word “conundrum” in a sentence. Especially in letters. It is trying to work in “rat b*st*rd” that is hard – if you are trying to be polite. tee hee

Does anyone read Baldacci? Just bought True Blue at the library for $1. Since it retailed for $27.99 we thought it was a good deal. Our library has a shelf of hardbound books for $1.00 and paperbacks for $.50.

Wonder how Rose’s day is going.

  26. Barb & Maggie
    2:36 pm on November 5th, 2013

Here is a question for someone with better computer skills, maybe Melanie. Barb took a bunch of pictures with her phone then emailed them to Kelly. They were all upside down in the email. They don’t look upside down in our phone, so what are we doing wrong? Could Barb be holding the phone incorrectly when taking the picture?

  27. Herd of Hounds
    2:51 pm on November 5th, 2013

B&M: We don’t have an answer but wish to comment. We have found that sometimes between Mac and PCs this happens. Don’t know how or why or when AND don’t know how to fix it BUT…you are not the Lone Ranger.

  28. Tupper and Gilly
    2:54 pm on November 5th, 2013

Barb – while we are not an expert, we have found that taking photos with an iphone and uploading them is basically a crap shoot. There have been times when other on the blog have mentioned that a picture is upside down. while to us it is just fine. And we have uploaded from our phone, only to find the picture upside down on one of our ‘putters and right side up on the newer one.

    We think its a conspiracy.

For my bestest friend Rose — just let me know if I need to go into my most devil dog mode to deal with nasty boss of yours; I can do it in a heartbeat.

B&M — My dad says they read most of the Raine Stockon books on the Kindle, so did not notice any printing problems per se. The only actual book we have is the very first one in the series. But he thinks your surmise may be correct (my dad uses words like “surmise” although I certainly don’t). TRR

  32. Barb & Maggie

Teddy, The kinds of printing errors we are talking about are misspelled words, and spacing. The spacing problem we noticed a lot – here is an example (made up):
Raine went to the door and peeked
    out.
Barb is rather OCD, so she would be counting the spaces, and then counting the letters in the first word on the next line to see why in the world they did that. It was driving her crazy, which isn’t hard to do!

  33. Barb & Maggie
    3:30 pm on November 5th, 2013

Bee, We here loved the King and Maxwell shows. Maybe another network will pick them up. Did not know Baldacci wrote the books on which the show was based.

Ok, When I gave that example above, my extra spaces were taken out automatically. The point was that there would be 3-5 spaces between words on a line, for no apparent reason.
