Creatures Big and Small
All kinds of creatures come up in the Chet and Bernie series. For example:
I caught a glimpse of the driver: a young woman, eyes on the road, baseball cap on her head, ponytail sticking out the back. Ponies are horses, and I’ve had lots of experience with horses, none good. They’re prima donnas, each and every one. So how come some humans want to look like them? A complete mystery. But solving mysteries is what we do, me and Bernie. Life was good. I felt tip top.

Good day to all.

Dear Chet: Ponytails are my go-to pandemic hair-do because I can’t go to the groomers. Does this make me a prima donna?
I’ve been watching All Creatures Great and Small on the tube. Very well done.
Weather report: Yikes to the US weather. Especially Texas.

We are still here. Still with power. That’s not to say we won’t lose it as the week goes on. We won’t reach above freezing until Friday. It was below zero this morning, a record low for the date. I think it reach -12 back in 1989. A lot of power stations and water plants are having a hard time staying up and working. News reports say the problem was supposed to be addressed after that other freeze but companies got complacent.
Anyway, this is the longest we have seen snow stay on the ground. Usually if we get snow, it is gone within hours. Another round of snow is coming tonight. I can see why Rio is in a bad mood!

I wore pony tails or braids a lot when I was in grade school. Kids now a days look way more stylish than I did. In my “mature” years when I had long hair, I sometimes wore it in a bun.
Sadie is happily enjoying 2″ of fresh new snow. I trust the Snowhook doggies and Howie are enjoying it also. I wonder what is the weather is like where Beau and the Thieves are. If it is always perfect weather, I know the Thieves would want snow and Beau would want sunshine for it to be considered perfect. Pondering.
Mr. Big went outside for a bit. It is going to be “warm” until Friday and then cold again. The deck door is open for fresh air (and so I do not have to get up and down for the animals going in and out).

BooBear: Yeep!
Hobbit: I had very long hair until I was in six grade. My mother would wash my hair for me, comb through it (lots of tangles), and braid it in two braids for me. In six grade, I decided I wanted short hair, and my dad got the scissors and just cut off the two braids. I know my mother kept those braids until she died.

Our thoughts are with everyone who is having rotten weather. We had flurries most of the day and it never went above freezing but at least nothing stuck. We seem to be kind of in a weather shadow.
Mom let her hair grow until just about the time she retired and would wrap it up over her head and clip it but since then she has had a pixie cut.

Thieves: cats are involved! Note cats are involved! You’ve been warned… but they will love being warm.

I wore a ponytail almost exclusively through gradeschool until I cut my hair in the 8th or 9th grade. To this day that spot on my head is tender to weight or tension if my hair is pulled tight.
I did braids a bit on and off but not pigtails. A single down my back or two criss crossed wrapped over my head.
Nowadays I use a hair stick to make a bun somewhere, but not at the place where the ponytail used to be.
