Costco Update

“Dog On It is the Costco Pennie’s Pick for August,” Spence says.

“We know that already,” says Admin. “Ad nauseum.”

“What we haven’t mentioned is that Costco is now carrying all the books in the series,” Spence says.

“So when you’re picking up wine – Costco sells a lot of wine – you can also … ?”

“Exactly. You can also dot dot dot.”

Welcome Bindi, Sparky, Mindy, Bruno, Jericho.

An ellipsis is usually used when quoting a source. It shows that you have left some words out. I sometimes use an ellipsis when I’m “pondering.” Spence is using it to mean “fill in the blank.”

So much going on here, it’s hard to keep everything straight.

Going back to yesterday, I can report that I have a tattoo myself. It was put on by GRREAT (the rescue organization that rescued me) as a form of identification; that was before microchips were popular for that purpose. While it wasn’t so great getting it, it still is very, very special, because that was the reason my foster mom had brought me to the GRREAT adoption day event where I found my forever mom and dad. If I hadn’t been brought in for the tattoo that day, I may never have have found them and they may never have found me.

Dan’s story is just terrific and Melanie, thanks for the back story too. We still think White Wings is one the best novels we have ever read.

My dad used to know Morse Code back in the day when he was in the boy scouts. But that was a long time ago; all he remembers now are about the first five or six letters and SOS of course.

Good news from OH on the tomato front (is there any chance your mom just got a really bad case of poison ivy; my dad can swell up like that from poison ivy as well), and from Golinka and the Storyteller. Their setup looks first rate.

As for favorite beers, that is easy. Our favorite (brewed in NH) is calyed Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale.

Bass and Smuttynose are both great, as is Siera Nevada, Victory, Stone … 😉

When Mom starts those rashes, she always assumes poison ivy (off one of us). But it doesn’t look like it. And it always starts at the same place (left forearm), then spreads to right forearm, then neck/chin, then legs. This is the first time her face and lips blew up. The allergist thinks maybe it is a viral infection; Mom now thinks it could be something else outdoors that causes her reaction.

Great tattoo story! We here have microchips, except for The Hot One.

Rio: If you’re waiting to hear a belch from Bluecat, I think you’re going to be waiting for a very long time. I get the far-to-dignified impression.

I went to a bar and asked if they had a non-alcoholic beer without wheat or barley. The bartender said yes, it’s called water.

Of have I already told that to youse guys.

    Ummm, that wasn’t a joke, Riö. It really happened . . .

Movie catch up. “From Time to Time” was a good family flick. Of course, I think the world of Maggie Smith (who is one year younger than Zoë).

Now on to another “Foyle’s War”.

I bet—I hope—that Stinky Mama’s booth is sold out and all that remains are empty displays to be restocked (and sold out) again tomorrow. I also hope that Leonard, the Storyteller not the dog has enjoyed funnel cakes, things that normally aren’t friend and has a full belly.

We have been busy this afternoon and now Barb is heading out to dinner with neighbors. She promised to bring a doggie bag for me tonight.

Barb is going to read Dan’s story in the morning with her coffee. TTFN

Just caught up on episode 2 of Grimm. This season 2 is excellent!

Hoping Amalia and Leonard had a very successful day.

Barb&Magpie: You are going to LOVE Dan’s story!

Someone here is going to prepare supper.
I’ll be back tomorrow – Bear

    Rose,

You have our exact approach to sports – if their cap says NY, we want them to do well. Even the Jets, however improbably that is.
I will start my retirement with a Yankees game where my son’s alumni group sold tickets in a luxury box. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be in a luxury box.

Wolfie, if your mom ever looks at Facebookie, she has a friend request. Her name popped up on the side, so we zipped over to her page.

Yes, rain is a very good thing, but now the folks only have 1 day left for the water walking, since mom has an in-service on Thursday. She better get well before then.

I have a feeling that if the Royal Parents sell out, they will be high-tailing it out of there. I somehow doubt that they carry a storeroom with them!

Wookie: I like the way your mind wanders. That Dylan Thomas poem and Dan’s story do go hand in hand. Now I have to listen to some Simon and Garfunkel.
Leonard Cohen is another great Canadian.

Gosh I’m so tired. First the day with my girl at school and now two days of taking care of Molly’s Mom. I’m going to take a pre-bedtime nap now.

Terry – I’m taking your suggestion about trying the Paleo diet. I found a market near Sam’s that sells meat from our local farms. I never ate much meat because I couldn’t find good sources. I’m willing to give this diet a try.

We missed Terry mention that diet, but The Paleo Diet sounds similar to Will Clower when we googled it. Is that true? Will Clower says to eat like our grandparents did, and don’t eat anything that was not grown in the earth or had a mom and dad.

Pickles!…My friend loves kosher dill pickles, but she is not supposed to eat them…grunt!…I doubt she would ever try a fried pickle, it just doesn’t sound right…sniff!

Kitchen!….We are watching Hells Kitchen…heh!…Seems Chef Ramsey is in a new show about Hotels…sniff!…Now that is one I really want Rockie and his HillBilly friends to watch. They can do some research on where the bedbugs still reside…chorkel!

Rio and Siber – we agree. Fried pickles are just not right.
Fried Oreos on the other hand….

Actually, we are catching fits trying to find food that will not completly clog our arteries before the end of the show. These people fry absolutely EVERYTHING.

And one can only eat so many hamburgs – we don’t even want to discuss what could be in a county fair hot dog. We had yogurt with us today, and some leftover rotisserie chicken. Leonard had to walk by the fried pickle booth and they were out there pushing samples. When I had to go by, I told them to back off and no one would get hurt.

    Fried pickles, indeed. GAH!

    I can’t believe my ears—Bluecat burped.

I’ve never had any fair food. Course, I went to my first state fair just a handful of years ago so I’m behind on all things fair.

  134. Tupper and Gilly
    11:34 pm on August 21st, 2012

Bella – we have had our share of fair food. And our share of really bad food. But this is our first fairly bad food fest. As in bad for you, not bad tasting…well, except for the pickle part….

But dawn comes early, and showers and sleep are needed. So good night all. And thanks for the good wishes.
(The internet coverage at the Really Long Shew site is spotty at best, so if we don’t get to talk to you during the day, we will pop in at night when we get back to our hotel, tired and punchy, and full of fried whatnots)

Well, I was at mine a few days ago and not one book. Nada. Had to find an alternative source for all four hardbacks for autographs in September. Bookstore is holding Fistful of Collars for me.

Maybe the CostCos vary. Mine has greatly reduced it’s book section so maybe a larger one stocks more books and it’s there. But not at mine.

Good morning! We missed a big day yesterday. Mom didn’t get on the computer at all!

Dan, we will take some time later to savor the story. We are sure it is wonderful.

Wookie, Dad will have to check out Smuttynose Brewery. He really likes all different kinds of beers, as well as his regular BudLight.

Good Luck at the Really Big Shew, Amalia and Leonard. Although Mom has never tried them, several girls at her office say that fried pickles are great. Love the bears!

Mom has to get ready for work now, but we will check in later.
