Costco And Us

“Good news,” Spence says. “Dog On It is the July Pennie’s Pick at Costco. And all the other books in the series will be there too.”

“Very nice,” says Admin. “And you can pick up a bottle of wine at the same time – Costco’s one of the biggest wine sellers in the world.”

“Cahors, do you think?”

“Nothing would surprise me.”

“What about if spiders started speaking?”

“Now you’re scaring me.”

Heh, Heh You guys are cracking me up!
    Good Sunday Morning Everyone.

Spiders . . Talking . . . Costco is actually where Charlotte lives?
I can just see it. A web over SQ’s books . . “Some Author!”

I see the Herbs are out of the bag! (Why would you want to put Kats in a bag anyway?)

The Pink Bulldozer strikes again! Cool. The last thing I knew was Bella was going to try to come up here after the conference and before she went to see her parents.

Videoing . . . I’ll have to get my flip back from those that are married and took it on their honeymoon. Sounds good to me.

I think it would be great if YSAS could come up then too. But I believe he is filming things.

AUCTION! I have three things for the AUCTION! One of a kind things! One is from GLAD and the other is from OTAS. The other is a surprise.

I’m trying to think of something from YSAS but my brain is tired. My garden push has done tuckered me out!

Good Beautiful Morning from here in Western MA!

Melanie beat me to it with her Charlotte’s Web reference. I was going to say, of course spiders speak! Ny very favorite story as a kid.

Now to the cat out of the bag reference. Goes back to medieval England. Venders would sell a “pig in a polk” which was a small piglet in a sack. Sometimes they would substitute a cat which was about the same size (and umm, sorry to say, not considered of equal value). If the buyer didn’t look until he got home, he was taken. Thus started the saying Never buy a pig in a polk, and Don’t let the cat out of the bag. Just call me Bee!

Rio: You’da thunk the M’s would have won it just ’cause we were there, but NOooooo.
Royals & Herbs: Still thinking about the exciting news from yesterday. Your mama is a force to be reckoned with, and, as Rio says, some sort of magician.
B&M: Interesting how those old expressions come about.

Excellent SQ. This is a weekend filled with good news. There is always a crowd around the book table when we’re at Costco. Chet will have a huge group of new friends.

Melanie – waiting not so patiently for BE season 3 and YSAS.

    Happy Sunday all.

    Thanks Barb and MagPie!

Rosalyn’s temperature is normal, but she is NOT eating. Finally remembered we had high protein gel for mamas during whelping. So we’re giving her that in very small portions. A little dab will do ya.

I also took her down to the river for a dip. I wasn’t sure if she was going to come out.
We were taking her to the groomers to get her sheered, but she is not well enough for that this week. So it’s Mac (or as the groomer calls him, the Macster) and Grace.

Time to water things. Must find my cocoa though. I know it’s somewhere around here.

Good morning all – Mama is starting an I V with coffee – something about needing to get 3 months work into 3 weeks. So? Thats kind of how her life goes all the time.

Melanie – glad to hear Ros’;s temp is ok. Still doing prayers for her to get back to feeling tip top.

Hey – how come OUR Costco doesn’t sell wine? (said in a whining voice)

Barb – I always wondered about that. Thanks for the info. And how hunky is the hunk?

I have some good news regarding my boy Cody! He has taken a 180* turn. And Cody, being Cody, has gone way, way over in the opposite direction. He has become a bible thumping, soap box standing, TV denouncing nutcase. Gotta love him. He has all the answers from the Internet and knows everything. I’ll be glad when this stage passes. I am grateful that he is sober, I really am.

  18. Melanie

    Good Sunday Morning All!

Wolfie, that is such good news about Cody’s sobriety! As always, you know my prayers and strong thoughts for his good health are with you and yours!

Charlotte’s Web, (sigh) is one among my many favorite childhood books!

    Let’s go Yankees!

Wolfie, I am grateful also and this new stage will smooth itself out. It is helping him stay sober and that is what is important right now.

Barb? I have the same question as Melanie…how did it go?

    11:43 am on June 10th, 2012

Happy Sunday everyone! We just weeded the garden. Whew that was a job!
Wolfie, we agree with Siber. Good that Cody is sober, and if the bible stuff is helping him with that now, thats a good thing. It will smooth over in the future.
Prayers and hugs here for Ros.
Very interesting about Pig in a Polk, and letting the Cat out of the Bag. But Buddy and T.C. are in a snit about not being as valuable as a pig.
Melanie, good news about auction items from Glad. We are in love with her halter painting here…pondering.

    11:53 am on June 10th, 2012

Well, it was an interesting and fun evening, but not a big connection for the young couple. I think the biggest thing they had in common was that they each have 3 cats.

He is an extremely nice, intelligent, polite young man. He is a glass blower by profession, and he brought Barb a little bud vase that he had made as a gift for staying here. Very thoughtful. He is sort of a hippie, with dreads that are wrapped up to look like shorter hair. He is a health food advocate (don’t want to say nut), a vegetarian, grows a garden and cooks. Avid cyclist, races almost every weekend in the summer, has gone to Durango, Co. to ride, has world traveled. Cool guy. Barb had a lot to talk to him about.
Jordan is very cute, but I don’t think she cooks or is particularly interested in gardening. Not sure about sports, but I would say she is not super active. Two nice people, but I don’t see a love connection.

Wolfie, Good news about Cody, at least the sober part. Sometimes when people are missing something and give up an addiction, they go off the deep end over something. Maybe religion will be his answer and fill whatever void he needs to fill.

  25. Buddy
    12:00 pm on June 10th, 2012

Thanks for clearing that up Basil and Sage. I’m feeling much better now. Lets not let T.C. in on this though…it is so much fun to watch her pout.

Barb&Magpie: The Dog Who Danced will be heading your way tomorrow. We are finishing the last pages tonight. Like Wolfie said yesterday, it is one of those books you can read in one sitting. Barb is going to love it!
About your favorite son’s bike ride yesterday…how did it go?

Wolfie: We are praying Chad will be following in Cody’s footsteps with the sobriety and that your mom will be back in his good graces very soon.

Melanie: Prayers, too, for Ros to be feeling tip top. Glad you found the protein to use until she gets her appetite back.
An item from YSAS? A pawtographed photo would do nicely!

  27. Wolfie Wigglebutt
    12:10 pm on June 10th, 2012

I know that things will even out and I am relieved. But I finally told Cody that I have my own beliefs, and that there is absolutely no way that he will EVER convince me that the twin towers were bombed by the US government to create a new world order, or that Obama is an agent of the devil, or the Illuminati is taking over the world. His beliefs are radical and off putting.

  28. Basil and Sage
    12:23 pm on June 10th, 2012

Wolfie – it would almost be tempting to tell him that you have found your spiritual connection by worshipping trees, or rocks or butterflies or somesuch.
Oh well – as long as he is sober. This could just be a new “addiction” that fills a void for a while.

  29. Barb & Maggie
    12:23 pm on June 10th, 2012

Wolfie, You are right, that is a little off putting and scary!

T & G, We went back and read all the posts about your big meeting end of June. That is totally exciting. This blog and its members never cease to amaze me.

Barb agrees with Amalia, never could do public speaking. Her worst nighmares are where she dreams that she is about to go on stage. Yikes!

Brian just called after his morning race. He is stopping back by here to shower, get some eggs and have a grilled cheese before heading back. There were about 2,000 racers this weekend at the Tour de Galena. 50 in his group this morning, and he finished 7th. Not bad.

Josh did a 30 mile ride yesterday. He and Brian may tackle the 90 mile ride out here sometime this summer. That’s a big maybe.

Rebecca, Mom says that when you are speaking about something with which you are familiar and which you love, it is easy to speak, no matter the size of your crowd. And, if you take questions early on, that helps break the ice also. Maybe get a friendly participant to plan a question or two.

Laughing out loud at Beau’s ‘pet’.
I have a little stuffed fish that is made of pink and yellow fabric. When I feel lonely I take it upstairs while making a growly sound deep in my throat. Sort of an “Oh me oh my I am so sad and lonely” sound.
Sometimes I do it at night. Sometimes I do it if ‘they’ have gone away or if I think they have gone away.

It always makes Staff call to me and tell me they are here. (Unless of course, they aren’t.)

I think the idea’s of stuff to sell in the back of the room is a good idea.

Going off to look at the mushers mercantile…

Painting! I painted the hallway last night and have been working all day to paint the kitchen. The stairway is next on my list. AJ and I are trying to fix up the house before Coach arrives.

Rio: Do you think we could ask Wookie to pick you up and drive you to a certain event at the end of the month?

Our goal is to no look like we still live college students to Coach. Word has a way of getting back to a certain mother. Said mother tends to worry.

Wow! Let me try that again: Our goal is to not look like we still live like college students in the eyes of Coach.

Coach has only visited us in the winter right before the race.

Hi everybody, just checking in here. So much exciting news having been reported, one doesn’t know where to begin. I think I will just say, wow, wow and wow!
Mom and dad, with my capable assistance, had a relatively quiet but very enjoyable celebration of their 34th anniversary today.
My toys tend to be in pretty good shape. My friend Casey, however, would really shred toys whenever he had a chance. I lost a few good toys that way too, but I didn’t mind too much. He always just had a lot of nervous energy.
We actually had our first zucchini (it’s the round type, not sure what they are called). This is the earliest ever. And tomatoes are actually starting to set on the Bloody Butcher plant. It will still be a while I’m sure before they mature into real ripe tomatoes, but they are definitely off to a good start.
I love the idea of being the MC, but I may have to settle for honorary MC. The Wookiemobile is still under repair and I am just not sure when it will be ready.

Wookie: Happy 34th Anniversary to your folks! You don’t think the wookiemobile was mechanically compromised at the last party when it was taken for a bit of off-roading?

    Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
(We are practicing for the emcee role – Mama says no way in h e double toothpicks is she getting up in front of two hundred thousand people and talk. It WAS two hundred thousand, right? We have kind of a hard time with numbers past the two part)

Bella – if you are still talking to us – we just sent some things to the store. Once they are received and inventoried, you can put them on the shelves.

Mama says she hopes we aren’t building up too much expectations for the big night. She is going to do a lot of advertising, and the room does hold 200, but who knows how many will come. We think there will be lots, and we really want them to buy every single thing on the back of the room tables.

Bear and Wolfie – SDD received – thank you and bless you both.

Sleepy Melanie – Thank Dog that Ros is starting to feel better. Poor puppy has been through a ruff time.

Siber and Rio – you have our condolences on the fate of the Rockies. Maybe you should become fans of something that is less of a gamble – like a knitting competition.

Oh well – the time has come to do paperwork and pay bills. We have put it off as long as possible. Maybe we will finish up at a reassonable time and be back.

Yeah sure – and maybe a handsome stranger will come knock on our door and hand us a winning lottery ticket.

    sigh

We are checking in quickly and then saying good night.

We got a call that an agent wanted to show the house this evening. Sunday evening is unusual, but didn’t want to turn it down. We were told 30-40 min. would be sufficient, so we picked up a pizza and came back after 1 hour. They were just leaving at 7:30. Hopefully that was a good sign. Paws crossed, but we have said that so many times we hate to say it again!

    Sweet dreams everyone.

Patio!…We’ve been outside on the patio enjoying the cool breeze and snuffling the grass…snort!…Beau’s new thing is to piss on the peppers. This really annoys someone….grunt!…Luckily there are no peppers on the pepper plants and he can only “reach” one of them on the corner…heh!heh!
