Good morning! We love the story of Cooper and his boy. Good job, Cooper.

Can you believe that Pop let his iPaw sitting here so Zeus would have something to play with while they are at work? Heh!

    Good morning all.

We read that story yesterday and were hoping it would make it to the blog. That little boy looks just like our neighbor, Michael, who is also 3. He lives with Fred, the Lab. I bet Fred would do the same thing if Michael wandered off.

Thank you from all my good friends who wished me Happy Birthday last night.

Now Barb is getting ready for her day at work. Today temps will
get to 80 degrees. Wow, a hint of summer!

    Have a happy day, everyone!

Good morning,OH and everyone else! Cooper, what a guy! Bet his kid is glad that Cooper isn’t a small dog 🙂 Happy belated b-day to Maggie. Glad Rio and crew are safe after yesterday’s storms. Hope Golinka is having fun AND finding turquoise and visiting. Hey Zeus, be on your better than best today; that’ll fool ’em.
    Have a technicolor Thursday!

    Greetings!

Great story about Cooper and his boy.

Belatedly, but sincerely, Happy Birthday, Maggie!

RIO! I am glad your friend made it home safely, and that youse did not get blown away to Oz. You know, I worry about youse.

It is gray and rainy here in Westchester. Sounds like a Mr. Carrot and the Rose blanket day.

My head was shrunk so much, I woke up with a headache.

Kudos to Cooper; shame on the parents who put a 3 year old boy out to play on a 10 acre farm without keeping an eye on him.

  12. Tyb
    9:49 am on May 8th, 2014

It doesn’t have to be a 10 acre farm, parents should watch any 3 year old playing outside alone even in a small yard.

  13. Wose-the small and meek
    9:59 am on May 8th, 2014

Tyb, You are so right. A parent shouldn’t even take their eyes off their children for one second. Whenever Grizz and I go to the mall, we see a lot of that. The parents are on their cellphones, and the kids are wandering away, without the parents knowledge.

Cooper, You are a hero and smarter than the kid’s mom.

Maggie, I am a day late, but very Happy Birthday wishes to you.

We are having below normal temperatures for this time of year so I hope Golinka isn’t freezing. It gets colder in the area of the state where she is than it does here.

The Royal Mum is on her way to pick up a beloved friend of hers for a girls day out. We are going off to some of the far reaching trading posts. My friend Bobbie is an older gentlewoman with a world class sense of humor. She loves to go turquoise shopping, but has a husband who needs care, and she doesn’t get out to much. So we are gonna have fun fun fun even if the rental car isn’t a TBird.
And she loves green chili too.
    Back much later today

It is a gloriously rainy day here in Tejas. Angie has a loooong day of meetings, so I have the full complement of five pooches. Annie, Holly and Biddy are on the big couch. Belle is smushed up against me, and Macy has taken refuge in one of the kennels. She refuses to sleep in one, yet spends a great deal of the day in it, with the door open.

Sorry Mags, I forgot to say happy b-day last night. Marinated steak. Happy Birthday to YOU!!

HOH, you are too much. No, really! heh-heh

Ah, Royal Mum, sounds like a Thelma and Louise tale. Just stay away from high places. Tell Bobbie hi from me. (She is the one, right?) I love the colors in NM, the buttes, the mountains, the gorges, the…everything. My favorite picture from my trip is taken from the road to Los Alamos looking over the vastness. It is on my computer, but I am on Rick’s. I will look for it later. Have a memorable day. I wish I was there. But you can have my helping of green chilis. I am a wimp.

The handyman is here. Drills or saws are buzzing. Paint cans are being opened. Another day in construction central. Maybe I will slip out to the Senior’s centre for a game of cribbage and some (more or less) peace and quiet. First, I must tend to all the little flower seedlings. Life is good.

Billy’s Buddy: Thanks for the unbirthday wishes. I don’t usually celebrate my birthday but I do celebrate unbirthdays – almost always.

Wose: Mama Luna’s gentle kisses will make you feel better, not to mention the HOH’s slightly rowdier slurps.

  39. Macy's mom

How do you all keep the squirrels from digging up your bulbs before spring? Every time I plant some, it is like I put out an all-you-can-eat buffet sign. I would like to have some color, but a. lazy b. squirrels c. lazy.

I have been trying to clean out the closet some, but it was very overwhelming. I have a black trash bag for Goodwill, a white one full of clothing that says Bedford Fire Dept. that I can drop off at the station. That leaves a mass, half of which I had hoped to take to the consignment shop, and half for my “may never happen” garage sale. The Consign places are not taking anything right now. Great. I will eventually wind up taking them all to Beacon House (the resale shop where I volunteer on Fri and Sat), but I am just not ready to watch people paw through his things just yet.

When someone from MA comes to visit NM, they bring rain with them. It is raining now and it rained when Spence visited last September.

Macy’s Mom: The man who lives in this house says that your pun, “Wasn’t half bad!” That’s high praise coming from him.

    5:06 pm on May 8th, 2014

SiberH: I’m sorry to hear about your bookstore. I’m glad I got to live in the heyday of bookstores. I have spent many relaxing hours in bookstores perusing the publications. The best ones have a dog, a cat, a chicken wandering the aisles, an easy chair or two for sitting or a friend behind the counter.

  49. Herd of Hounds
    5:08 pm on May 8th, 2014

Macy’s Mom, Squirrels and chipmunks eat all bulbs EXCEPT daffodil 🙁 We’ve has tulips, hyacinth, crocus all consumed so we stick with the daffodils. Iris are rhizomes so the rodents don’t bother them, Oh, Dawson, we are offended by the man that lives in your house. We try and try with puns but NOOOOO, ML put on one and praise! Hers did have a picture, maybe her is visually oriented…ah so!

Siber, we are very sad to hear that your bookstore is closing. We do miss those little bookstores. Then again, we are to blame, because we read on our Kindles now. We just do not have room for more books, and we find Kindles so lightweight and convenient outdoors, where we do most of our reading.

Siber-H, Very sorry to hear about your bookstore. I continue to read real books (I have a gazillion!), but I also have a ton of books on my nook. It is just easier and portable. A lot of the books on my nook, are books that I loved as a child, or books I know I will be reading again. I fear that like Borders, Barnes and Noble stores will all be closing. We speak to some of the employees at the store Grizz and I go to, and if the Starbucks wasn’t part of the store, the sale of books would not be able to keep the store open.

We still read real books. No Kindles or Nooks for us. However, we often check out books from the library rather than buying them, so I guess that isn’t good for the book stores either.

Thanks for more birthday greetings. I think we have heard from almost all our friends now. Thanks again.

I would have at least a two week span between plantings. MrStaff does it about a month later because the lettuce lasts a while after it is ripe. Radishes come up fast. Cucumbers hide in the leaves. Just plant onion sets. then harvest them green. Much faster. And if you don’t use them all up green you will have onions!

By the Way. The carrots are going to the post office tomorrow morning.

Rio – we fear you and Beau may be in for treaties of salad instead of Zingers.
Had one dose of green chili today. A smothered burrito with green chili on top. Oh my. It is going to be sssoooo hard to go back to boring food. But if a green chili pepper so much as doffed it’s hat towards the Storyteller’s dinner, it would make it too hot for him to eat. And Gramp gets antsy if I even talk about peppers.
Heading for bed, and hoping that it gets a little warmer tomorrow.

Great pictures, even thuogh I haven’t met Jack, I can tell he’s an amazing Pug and that he’s very loved and spoiled! As for his missing eye I believe he got caught being a peeping Jack checking out some young hot Pug through a hole in the wall taking a bath,in her surprise in seeing an eye she took her loofah bath brush and poked it through the hole which lead to Jack’s missing eye. If you were to ask Jack he’d say it was well worth it! 🙂
