Very Good Morning to All!!!
Since I can’t vote for AJ anymore, I entered myself into the contest!
B: Sorry I missed your party, sounded like there was much rockin’ and rolling goin’ on!
To educate is a very noble job. Wishing you the very best things in your retirement! (whispering) Please check your SDD on Monday.
9:50 am on December 18th, 2011
Oh dear, I made it to the party last night, got fooded, and then fell asleep under a chair. Yawn. I’m home now and I think I must have had a good time. My tummy is full and it wasn’t dumb old kibble. Burp.
9:51 am on December 18th, 2011
Guess there are a lot of full bellies and hangovers this morning, eh? 🙂
9:54 am on December 18th, 2011
Good Chilly Morning to All! We are now at 14 degrees, up from 10 early early this morning. The Walk / Run has been put off for a couple of hours.
I entered OTAS in the contest!
Not sure how The Pack got home last night, but they sure aren’t moving this morning. And they are very wet.
9:59 am on December 18th, 2011
Admin is in excellent form today!
Thank you Rose. A good time was had by all. (Whispering: And Sam–There are stories we could tell!!)
Good morning all.
9:59 am on December 18th, 2011
We entered the contest too.
Made a few cookies, wrapped a few gifts, now out to do chores. Then heading east to take back the dvd for The Help. Tried it in the neighbor’s dvd player, and it didn’t work there either, so have to exchange it.
Cold and a little foggy here, but not bad for mid December.
Great party last night!
10:17 am on December 18th, 2011
Spencer and Admin, at times, remind me of my guys and me. I wonder if I should be concerned. Pondering . . .
So . . . (love using those things . . .) ZoĂ« thought she was buying the CD’s for The Dog Who for OTAS’s gift but actually bought the download. Next? Buying CD’s to burn the download so OTAS can listen in his car.
Jeez Louise!
The only CD’s we found were from library’s.
10:21 am on December 18th, 2011
What a Great Party!!!
Closing remarks by Dawson & SnowBella
expressed our feelings beautifully.
10:28 am on December 18th, 2011
P.D. James has a new mystery out. (I didn’t realize that she’s 91.) It’s Death Comes to Pemberely…using Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice characters. There is a review of it in today’s NYTimes Book Review.
10:31 am on December 18th, 2011
Melanie: Why do you love using ellipses? I haven’t been able to find CDs of Dog Who. I have it on my Kindle but that’s from Audible.
The Newfs really enjoyed the pool last night.
10:47 am on December 18th, 2011
Melanie: The Pack may have gone home on Alice’s Magic Bus, but it is more likely they used Mattie’s teleportation techniques.
11:28 am on December 18th, 2011
Dr. B. – I’m sorry I missed your retirement party. I came back from Sam’s in the early afternoon to find about a thousand people here skiing. It was amazing what those snow guns did overnight. So I had some Safety Patrol duties and then had company come – to ski and then to swim and hot tub outdoors. The night skiing ends at 10:30 and the pool closes at 11 p.m. By midnight I flopped into bed – way past my bed time.
You must be very tired after cleaning up from a wild, wild party!
11:50 am on December 18th, 2011
Intense!….Today is all about her finishing two Christmas Projects and watching the Broncos beat the New England Patriots…heh!heh!….Woooooooooooo!….The fact that The Patriots are Spence and Admins team makes it all the more exciting and intense…snort!
Projects!… One project is totally put together, it just needs to be framed….sniff!…The second project is ready to be pieced together now because she just finished making all the leaves…wuffle!….Her mother has gone to get groceries leaving me and Beau alone to run amok upstairs while someone is very busy downstairs ….heh!heh!
12:00 pm on December 18th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom: I’m glad you finally have enough snow for skiing to start.
12:01 pm on December 18th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom, Glad you finally have snow and skiing. Stover didn’t have to clean up the party mess. Since the party was in her honor, we hired help to do it. My fellow Sibers and I threw the remains of the goat in a swamp before the cleanup crew arrived.
Borzoi, Sorry I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye, but you did call my attention to the goat out there. Duty and Honor come before social relationships. In your line of work, you must know that.
I am entering the contest…I just can’t decide which name to use.

A friend of mine posted this on facebook. Mr.Staff and I remember watching it.
Get out your hankies.
12:31 pm on December 18th, 2011
heh heh
Have you googled Let it Snow yet?
12:47 pm on December 18th, 2011
Hey Abbie, How did you know to do that?
Smells from the kitchen and it ain’t dog! I’m experimenting. I took one apple (it’s just ZoĂ« and me) sliced it, put on butter, brown sugar, crumbs of “Lucy’s Gluten Free Cinnamon Cookies”, sprinkled on nutmeg, cinnamon and Bailey’s Irish Cream (gluten free!). It’s now baking in a 300 degree oven. If this works it will be part of the Holiday treats.
Why do I like using ellipses? Because it makes seem like I’m thinking. Right now thinking is not something I do well!
MollyPop, Congrats on the snow! We did go for our Walk / Run. After trying to find my winter gloves for days, I found them in my winter coat. I haven’t had to use it until today.
Winter coat, gloves, a Snowhook Gator and my Stormy Kromer . . .
1:26 pm on December 18th, 2011
Abbie – That’s great. You’re one smart Kat.
1:42 pm on December 18th, 2011
Staff: What a great reading. When Jimmy’s voice started breaking up we were going boo hoo too.
Wolfie: Proficient Blurrer at the top! You did a great job last night Pal.
1:43 pm on December 18th, 2011
Yummers! My experiment worked! Took it out of the oven, stirred just a bit and ZoĂ« said, “Where’s your’s? That’s mine!”
We took a smidgeon and WOW! Had to slap our hands to save it for tonight’s dessert.
2:08 pm on December 18th, 2011
Rose: Hangovers? (whispering) Perhaps a tiny one. Maybe one too many glasses of Cahors. Good thing we only partake on special occasions.
Howlers: How are you all doing today?
Melanie: Congrats on coming up with a super new dessert.
Mollypop’s Mom: Hurray for snow! Sounds like between the slopes, the pool and the jacuzzi you are having a blast.
Abbie: Awww…That was nice.
Nap time!
2:08 pm on December 18th, 2011
Melanie: Your experiment sounds delish.
Abbie: I typed Let It Snow in Google search but….what is supposed to happen?
2:16 pm on December 18th, 2011
I read the article about “Let It Snow” on Google but it still doesn’t do that to my screen. Wonder why…..
2:19 pm on December 18th, 2011
It takes awhile B.Stover!
2:21 pm on December 18th, 2011
Hey there, everyone. We were a bit tired this morning, and our bellies were full. However, they weren’t so full that we couldn’t partake in Mom & Pop’s fresh-baked Christmas cookies. They always make special chocolate chip cookies for us. Yummmmm
2:24 pm on December 18th, 2011
When we googled Let It Snow – it started snowing, but when we used another search engine nothing happened.
2:25 pm on December 18th, 2011
O.Howlers: A Special Chocolate Cookie for Dogs?
2:32 pm on December 18th, 2011
Break!… I tried the let it snow trick and nothing is happening…grunt!…Phooey!
2:49 pm on December 18th, 2011
Batten down the pugs. It is blowing hard here. We don’t get much wind where we live but when we do — look out. The power has been out for several hours now so AJ is melting snow for the dogs.
Melanie: You may want to count the newfs. The team brought a dog home last night from the party that may have had one too many boot rear floats. He came here insisting he was a pig named Beau. He slept it off and is now playing with the pups. When I say slept it off, I should add in the middle of Belle Starr’s bed that she so graciously shares with AJ and I.
2:56 pm on December 18th, 2011
I kept the Let It Snow on the screen for ten minutes and still nothing happens.
Hope your power comes back on soon Snowhook Bella.
3:53 pm on December 18th, 2011
Hmmm . . . Bella, all Newfs accounted for here. I doubt that a Newf named Beau would fit in the “middle” of Belle Starr’s bed with you and AJ. Try “take up the entire” bed. Perhaps Riö should make sure Beau is with him?
B.Stover, you are using Google to google?
3:55 pm on December 18th, 2011
We googled Let It Snow yesterday, then selected the first item. It plays the song while it snows on the screen.
Bear, when Mom makes choc. chip cookies, she always makes one cookie for each of us guys before adding in those little brown chip thingies. We love ’em. Poor Pipsqueak can’t figure out what all the excitement was about though, because Mom gave her the last cookie from T&G’s mom instead…she loves those, but figured our twirling was for something new and different. Heh heh we aren’t telling her.
4:08 pm on December 18th, 2011
Melanie: Yes, I’m using Google.
Lucky Howlers!
4:14 pm on December 18th, 2011
SnowBella: Bummer about the power being out! Hope it comes back on soon. Why does AJ have to melt snow for the dogs – electric water pump? frozen faucets? Thank Dog for wood burning stoves!
O.Howlers: Those cookies sound really good.
The last time we googled Let it Snow the screen started to white-out – strange.
4:49 pm on December 18th, 2011
Bear: I watched the Google Let It Snow thing on youtube. First it has snowflakes falling then it frosts the window which is why you had the screen white out. Apparently if you move your mouse you can write things on the frosted window. Then you can click on “defrost” and it clears.
4:58 pm on December 18th, 2011
Done!… almost. …heh!….She actually just gave up to watch the Broncos kick the Patriots butt…WooooHoooo!… The two Christmas presents are very very very close to being done, so someone is relieved about that….wuffle!
Beau!….If you guys have Beau in your bed you would have known…snort!… He snores all the time. All Night Long….sniff!….So I don’t think it was Beau because Rebecca didn’t sound very grumpy about not getting any sleep at all…grunt!
5:00 pm on December 18th, 2011
Plus!….Beau was not at the Party last night. He is not allowed to leave the yard at all. Not Ever…sniff!…Apparently, he is still getting used to everything….grunt!
5:11 pm on December 18th, 2011
Power!…Oh no! Rebeccer and AJ and Junior do not have any power…..wuffle!… Its cold up there in Alaska…sniff!… I hope they have a great big fire burning to keep warm…sniff!
Score!… SiberH, the Broncos are ahead. The score is 16 ta 7 in the 2nd quarter….heh!….Lawrd have Mercy!…snort!
5:16 pm on December 18th, 2011
Woo Hoo, Rio!! Go Broncos Go!!!
5:20 pm on December 18th, 2011
SiberH!….Are you watching the game? Do they show it in New Mexico?….snort!snort!
5:41 pm on December 18th, 2011
I am watching the game now, but I think maybe I shouldn’t. I haven’t watched any Bronco games this year, I have just been “following” them. What happens when I start watching?….they are now behind one point.
5:41 pm on December 18th, 2011
B: Cool!
5:43 pm on December 18th, 2011
gag…now it is more than one point
5:46 pm on December 18th, 2011
SiberH!…Dude! The Broncos like to come back in the last few minutes…snort!….I wouldn’t worry at this point….heh!heh!
5:49 pm on December 18th, 2011
ok Rio I’ll tough it out. I was about ready to change channels.
5:50 pm on December 18th, 2011
The Patriots are ahead. Heh, heh, heh . .
5:51 pm on December 18th, 2011
If Bella’s new iPaw is charged she should be able to keep in touch. That is if she can receive the internet signal.
5:53 pm on December 18th, 2011
Had an aggravating day. Drove 40 miles round trip to return the dvd The Help to Walmart. Stood in line 20 minutes for customer service, went back to electronics, got another movie, stood in line again. Brought the movie home, IT WILL NOT PLAY! Walmart said maybe I have an old dvd player. I do, but tried it in my neighbor’s brand new one, and it didn’t work there either. It brings up a screen that says English and then it stops. Any ideas anyone? Guess I have to wait for Netflix (very long wait). Bummer!
6:00 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb: The dvd isn’t blueray is it? That will only play on a blueray dvd player.
6:05 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb, I think Walmart has not just a few bad dvds of The Help…I think they may have a whole batch of the defective ones. Who knows how many were manufactured this way.
Mom has had something similar happen.
6:12 pm on December 18th, 2011
Bee, Than was my thought too. It does not say blue-ray on the package, so I guess not. I am going to call the company tomorrow morning.
I told my son I was trying to watch it and he said “You are going to give her a USED dvd?” Well, it’s only gently used.
6:32 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb!….That stinks!….snort! …All that time you could have been packaging up cookies for Me!Me!Me!….sniff!….What a waste of good cookie-packing time.
Sixth!….Here is something to cheer every one up!….snort!….It is Already the Sixth Day of Christmas!….chuffle!

Barb&Magpie: What a hassle! Wasn’t the dvd supposed to be a gift?
6:33 pm on December 18th, 2011
Thanks Siber, I am thinking the same thing – I do not believe it is my dvde player.
6:35 pm on December 18th, 2011
SiberH!….Just to be Safe…ummmm….maybe you should stop watching the game and I will keep you posted….grunt!
6:39 pm on December 18th, 2011
I’m thinking the same thing Rio.
6:43 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb&Magpie: A long time ago Nana gave #1 son a book that she couldn’t resist reading. Of course, he pointed out to her, with a smirk on his face, that it looked like she had already read it.
Heh! It may happen again this year – she just ordered 11-22-63 from Amazon – wonder if she can race through it in 3 days? Nah, probably not.
6:51 pm on December 18th, 2011
GAH!….I feel bad for my friend. She wanted so bad to make a Christmas present for a really good friend and she just realized she is out of the color of paper she needs to complete this project….sob!sob!sob!….So close and yet so far….huffle!…If it were me, I would give up and start again next year…heh!
6:55 pm on December 18th, 2011
Fourth!….It is the magical Fourth Quarter….shake-rattle-and-roll!…snort!
7:01 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb, you weren’t watching it first, you were making sure that it would work!
Fourth quarter, 7 pm and I’m all ready to head to bed. I wish I could kick this carpola.
GO PATRIOTS!
TTFN
7:05 pm on December 18th, 2011
NoNo!…Do not listen to the Sicko behind the Blanket…heh!….Go Broncos!..snort!snort!
7:16 pm on December 18th, 2011
Star Bella!…Up top! … heh!…A good sign for sure. The Broncos situation looks hopeless right now, it really does….wuffle!…. How can they ever come back form a 41 ta 23 deficit? …woooo!…But what if they can! What if they CAN?…heh!
7:31 pm on December 18th, 2011
Patriots!….Winnit!…snort!…I have to say, that is Okay. They are the best team, as far as I, a mere pug, can tail…heh!
7:35 pm on December 18th, 2011
Rio,
Tell your friend to relax. If the gift isn’t made for Christmas, she can give it as a New
Year’s gift or for Little Christmas on the 6th of January.
7:36 pm on December 18th, 2011
Melanie, Feel better already! And yes, of course we were just checking out the dvd for Barb’s daughter to make sure it was not defective. Which evidently it is!
Bear, You would have a hard time reading 11-22 in 3 days. It is hard for Barb to keep her nose out of that book, but it is 850 pages. She is now up to about 740, and will finish it tomorrow. Excellent, excellent book! Hate to have it end.
Rio, We love the Twelve Days of Christmas cards.
7:37 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb: Melanie is so right. And, it a good thing you did because it didn’t!
7:43 pm on December 18th, 2011
Rio: Around here Christmas is extended for another week – to New Year’s Day – so any last minute details can be taken care of within this holiday time frame.
7:46 pm on December 18th, 2011
Two years ago Sam’s Mom gave me a book for my birthday and she wanted it back after I read it. I love this family.
8:02 pm on December 18th, 2011
Mollypop’s Mom,
What would you have done after you read the book? Read it again or put it on a shelf somewhere?
8:03 pm on December 18th, 2011
Better yet, you could have given it back as a birthday gift when the time came.
8:14 pm on December 18th, 2011
Books!…We here are very snobbish about our books…sniff!… I guess after all these years someone has finally learned her lesson about lending out her favorite books….grunt!…So the Rule Is: No Lending. Period…heh!…So there, all you book thieves. So there!..grunt!
8:19 pm on December 18th, 2011
Gift!…Yes, she is hoping the New Order of Quilling Papers come soon so she can call the special gift for a special friend a New Years Gift…gruffle!…Oh, how does one get so busy that she runs out of a standard color???…grumble!…How does this happen???? ..(((sigh)))
Golinka!…I wonder how Golinka is doing….wuffle!…I also wonder how Golinka does it….sniff!
8:19 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb bought Betsy and Tacy for her granddaughter, but she did not read it first. She is going to tell her she wants to read it after she finishes it. Did any of you ladies read the series years ago? It seems like somethng Staff would have read.
8:20 pm on December 18th, 2011
MollyPop’s Mom: I think someone here plans on doing that very thing. lol
8:24 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb!…I’m glad you are enjoying the 12 Dogs of Christmas…heh!heh!….Even I have not seen all of them!…snort!
8:27 pm on December 18th, 2011
Isn’t there a book called The Book Thief?
Barb&Magpie: The Betsy-Tacy books – I keep forgetting to check the library.
8:33 pm on December 18th, 2011
My dad used to be very careful with his books. Without exaggerating he must have thousands all over the house. He feels that when something happens to him, the books would probably be tossed in the trash, so now he’s sharing and telling people to pass them on rather than return them. He is packing boxes of books to take to the local library. They sort them and put what the want on the shelves for borrowers and put what they don’t want to keep out during their book sales to raise much needed funds to keep the library open. Gov’t funding has been cut so drastically that the libraries are desperate and use any means possible to raise a few dollars.
8:42 pm on December 18th, 2011
Scale!….Hmmm! Well, after reading about Mr.Tibbs thousands of books, I am confident in saying she does not have nearly that many….sniff!… She’s got special groupings of books. All the Agatha Christies, Sherlock Holmes, etc., Photography, Cooking, Hiking etc. and of course a special place for all the Chet and Bernie books…heh!…And a very special place for all the Charming Mr. Abrahams books….snort!… Dawg help that man if he ever visits here. She will take every book she owns written by him to have him sign it…heh!heh!
8:42 pm on December 18th, 2011
Hello all Plunderers!
The power came on just a bit ago and thank heavens it did. That strange ‘newf’ claiming to be a pug named Beau was actually Junior. It seems the team brought back some libations from the party and Junior partook. In the middle of the night when everything is dark, I guess a lot of dogs can seem like a newf when they’re hogging the bed.
Melanie: Check your SDD. And, as far as my fancy iPaw, we don’t have wifi in our neck of the woods so I have to wait until I get to the city to play with it. Speaking of which…
I’ve been keeping a secret, but not a bad secret: I won’t be in Willow for Christmas. Last year, each of the finishing mushers were given an airline voucher good for one round trip ticket anywhere. AJ gave me his ticket so I can spend time with my family in the lower 48 even if it means he and I will be apart for the holidays. He says it is nothing, but to me it is everything. I say he had to earn it a step at a time over a thousand mile distance, he says even though he is the one on the runners, we’re both on the trail. We will be leaving for the airport soon.
8:50 pm on December 18th, 2011
Wha!??…So Rebecca, you both will be leaving for the lower 48, right?…sniff!…Did I read your last sentence correctly, I wonder…wuffle!…Who will take care of Junior while you are gone??…gasp!
8:56 pm on December 18th, 2011
Rio,
My dad has so many books because he’s been collecting them probably longer than your friend has been breathing.
9:00 pm on December 18th, 2011
Hi y’all,
B. sorry I missed your party. Happy Retirement.
Mom is being a spoil sport. She just can’t get into the spirit. Maybe if we (un)decorated the tree for her, heh heh heh!
Thank you A. Nonny Moose, for the gift, which will be regifted to our girl Niki.
9:02 pm on December 18th, 2011
Wow, Rebecca, how generous of your sweet hubby. Will he have any non four-legged company?
9:11 pm on December 18th, 2011
Life!…Well Mr. Tibbs, I hardly doubt that your paw has been alive that long!….heh!…She has been giving thought to who will have her books, but not many names come to mind…sniff!…It’s something that seems important to sort out, but in the long run, it will not be. This world is not our home and this worlds belongings are not going to go with us when we go. So if she meets someone who will feel the same way about those special autographed books as we do, she will make sure that’s where they go afterwards…snorkel!
9:25 pm on December 18th, 2011
Rio,
Your friend and my dad think alike. The difference is in the timing. He’s letting some of his go now. There are provisions for some very special ones afterwards.
9:31 pm on December 18th, 2011
SnowBella: AJ what a guy! Too bad you both can’t go, but I guess someone has to keep the home fires burning and those many
hungry mouths fed.
TYB: We are trying to do the same – donating our many books to the little library here on the Island. Just holding on to a few favorites that are near and dear to us.
Rio: That was a very nice way to put it: “This world is not our home…..”
9:39 pm on December 18th, 2011
Barb&Magpie: Found! The Betsy-Tacy books at the library – at least five of them (I understand there are a total of 13 written from 1940 to 1955) They do have the first four. There is even a Betsy-Tacy Society in Minnesota. Apparently quite a following of loyal readers passing on the love of these little books from generation to generation.
9:51 pm on December 18th, 2011
Meet!…I’ve been thinking a lot about how to gather all the Plunderers into one spot for a special “How-Do!” get together…heh!… The big Idea still eludes me…sniff!…One day it will become apparent…snort!
Christmas!….I can’t help but feel sad for AJ knowing that Rebecca will not be with him for Christmas this year…grunt! …I bet he will make the best of it though. Weather permitting he will probably do a training run and then eat corn on the cobb…heh!
10:33 pm on December 18th, 2011
Iron!Chef!…heh!…Egg Nog?…Beau got his first taste of Icecream and now he is a big Fan…heh!…At first he wasn’t sure about it, and then Zow!…snort!…He licked the bowl clean…grunt!
10:42 pm on December 18th, 2011
We are going to go watch the end of Atlas Shrugged Part I so it can be returned to Netflix in the morning. A very good movie.
Ice cream sounds really good…..
10:58 pm on December 18th, 2011
Bed!….What a weekend!…snort!…Next weekend will be Christmas weekend and you know how fast that goes by…sniff!….Well, we are going to climb upstairs to our warm soft beds. Beau, of course will be climbing into a cold hard bed…grunt!
10:58 pm on December 18th, 2011
Bear, We had never heard of the books till we met a young ES girl this summer named Tacy. Barb asked how she got her name, and one thing lead to another. Yes, Lovelace started writing the series in 1940, when she was around 45-50 I believe. B & N has a newly published Betsy and Tacy paperback that has the first 4 books in the series, written in ’40, 41, 42 and 43. Their price is around $11.00. We were told that the first 4 are the best. The stories take place in the early 1900’s in the town of Mankato. Wonder if the Betsy and Tacy fans are anything like the Chet & Bernie fans!
11:00 pm on December 18th, 2011
Mom and dad just got back from the Christmas play at church and it was wonderful! Mom is very glad to be home.
Macy, could you please send your snail mail address to mom’s SDD? It is mary a@stcg.net.
There is no space between the mary and the a but I cannot convince the ipaw of that.
Rebecca, that is wonderful! You will love your ipaw and you will wonder what you did without it!
11:11 pm on December 18th, 2011
Wolfie, we are hoping the toffee gets here by Thursday. Barb is leaving Friday morning for the burbs. Do you think it will make it to Illinois by then (assuming no MGs)?
We are heading off to slumberland. Night all.

I have been reading the blog but now I have to get ready for bed. The window people are coming between 8 and 9 a.m. That is not a good time for us. No one is ever up then. I will set the alarm so I will be up by 8 and of course they will not come until 9:00.
