Masquers: We worked until 1100 last night. We wanted to work longer, but we reached a point where we started making mistakes because of fatigue. We’re back at it this morning. Still not feeling tip-top, but a friend of mine posted this on Facebook. Think of this as your birthday dinner, Awesome Dawson.
In memory of the wonderful dish (Cream of Green Chile Chicken soup) we discovered in Albuquerque, Mary boiled a whole chicken with carrots, onions, garlic and bay leaves and deboned it while I roasted, peeled and deveined some Medium Hatch chiles. Then she boiled some 1/2″ cubes of potatoes in the broth before adding the similarly cubed chicken meat and the chopped green chiles. Not quite as good as if we had left the chicken fat in, or if we had added salt or cream, but, still, mighty tasty, and our doctors will be happy.

Have I got a story for you! This afternoon after lunch I happened to log in to this site and saw the new friend of the month. I thought, “that looks just like the sheltie who lives down the street, and who happens to be Yuji’s best pal.” Then I looked at the entry to see what was written about him and saw that he is a reading dog. So is our Brad. I sent his mommy an email with a link and a row of question marks, but she didn’t get it, so we walked over to get to the bottom of this mystery, armed with our signed copy of Fistful. She hadn’t seen anything about this, so she was stunned to hear from us that Brad was Friend of the Month. I sent over Spencer’s email so she could straighten out the mailing. Being the good neighbors we are, we had turned her on to Chet and Bernie, but this ends up as a wild coincidence.
Now Yuji’s jealous of course, but he was once Dog of the Day on Dogster, so he’ll just have to learn to suck it up and give other dogs a chance.

Got the guest room put together and ordered a new dishwasher today. Fun. Also stopped at Panera Bread and bought some bread and a bagle for breakfast. Barb is a foodie, so she has missed all the places to buy yummy food. Anyone else out there like Panera?
Just put some gas in the car and paid $4.16 for regular. We are supposed to be one of the highest in the country.

They have finally finished all that barn cleaning. The place looks brand new, or at least what we imagine brand new to look like. They put those stalls in before any of use were here. They cleaned up webs. They wiped down grills. They pressure-washed stall walls. And then they cleaned windows. Whew. We are beat just from watching them. But now a Woodsong Hollow perfect chicken is in the oven, sitting on a bed of potatoes, onions, carrots, and garlic. This is our favorite meal here. And there is a neck cooking for us!
