Good morning, everyone! Miss P is pretty as a picture. And speaking of pictures (don’t laugh…this is BIG here)…

8:29 am on February 18th, 2015
Miss P was my favorite.
Waiting for the plumbers and for the new furnace to be installed today.
Good morning all.
8:32 am on February 18th, 2015
HOH: I always thought Tennessee was warmer, but no…whilst we are having the grass mowed…youse are having snow!
DianeC: Hi and bye.
8:34 am on February 18th, 2015
B: Miss P was Our Favorite too.
Thank Dog the winner wasn’t that Stuck-up Black Poodle!
8:49 am on February 18th, 2015
It seems like the flashy dogs always do better than the every-man’s dog. So it was nice that the Beagle won. They were all beautiful examples of their breeds.
Bee, how old was your old furnace? Our home is 16-17 years old, so we worry about our furnace and a.c.
9:17 am on February 18th, 2015
Stuck-up Black Poodle? Excuuuuuse me!
9:19 am on February 18th, 2015
I think Bear meant that the show haircut was too foo-foo. No harm, no foul or fowl.
9:20 am on February 18th, 2015
They said Miss P is now looking for a husband for her future children.
9:33 am on February 18th, 2015
Yesterday was a snow day here so me and Zeta rounded up the folks for a fun walk and romp in the snow. Have you ever wondered what I would look like as a siber. Well, Zeta’s mom has a Siber hat that she wears, and she tried it out on me. What do you think?

9:39 am on February 18th, 2015
This is my snow princess Zeta in a regal pose:

9:40 am on February 18th, 2015
This is my gal Zeta nuzzling (or maybe just chewing on) my ear.

9:41 am on February 18th, 2015
Oh Teddy you are adorable just the way you are. Better let Zeta be the Siber. Cute hat, though.
9:43 am on February 18th, 2015
Last one. This is me honoring my namesake, whose motto after all was “talk softly and chew a big stick!”

10:00 am on February 18th, 2015
Rio and anyone who may be interested: Lauren Graham (from Gilmore Girls) will be in a new version of Odd Couple. The premiere is apparently this Thursday night. Graham won’t be in until later episodes. There’s a review in today’s NYTimes.
10:01 am on February 18th, 2015
Barb: My furnace is 40 years old so I really can’t complain.
10:07 am on February 18th, 2015
Harrumph. A Beagle. Not a Corgi. Phooey.
Good morning everyone. Mama tells us that a Corgi didn’t win cuz we stayed home.
We would love to see Teddy enter Westminster wearing the Sibe hat – that would sure confuse the judges
10:08 am on February 18th, 2015
The Google Doodle is really neat today. It is the 270th birthday anniversary of Alessando Volta who invented the electrical battery. “Volt” was named in his honor. There’s an interesting article about him on Wikipedia.
10:11 am on February 18th, 2015
Love the Siber hat, but Teddy is beautiful no matter what.
T & G, We loved the Cardigan Corgi. He/she was sort of a mere color and white.
Bee, We hope our furnace lasts 40 years. Then it will not be our problem.
10:24 am on February 18th, 2015
I have four plumbers (heating/cooling guys) working here a the moment. Yikes!
10:27 am on February 18th, 2015
Oh dear. Four times the bill.
Gilly is a funny dog. She likes to sleep with her head propped up. In her bed and on the couch she has a pillow. But when a nap calls in the kitchen, she improvises.

10:33 am on February 18th, 2015
Love the pictures and MPM is making me laugh.
10:45 am on February 18th, 2015
MollysMaw!…She gets all poodled-up like Molly used to…heh!heh!
10:47 am on February 18th, 2015
Greetings!
T&G, The Prof sometimes naps the same way. After he wakes up, he has a sore back and neck for days.
Teddy, you and Zeta are just the cutest couple ever, and quite photogenic! Thanks for providing me with pictures for the 2016 calendar! :^)
HRH, B, I saw the GOOGLE Doodle earlier this morning and thought of you.
11:09 am on February 18th, 2015
MPM: Another foe paw by BSD. As soon as the post with the words Black Poodle in it appeared in front of him, he knew he was in big trouble. Believe you me, if this here blog had an edit feature he assures me he would have used it.
Barb is right though…it was the foo foo cut that set him off. Just like the Siberian Husky didn’t look like the sibers we are used to, neither did the poodle.
11:17 am on February 18th, 2015
Congratulations to Miss P!
IMHO All the Sibers, past and present, on this blog are much better looking than the Siber that came in fourth in the dog show.
Congratulations to the show dog Siber! (I bet that dog would rather be rolling in the snow)
Teddy, Thank you for the wonderful pictures. Teddy in his Siber hat…very cute!
Wose, Great idea! The pictures are perfect for the new calendar.
11:22 am on February 18th, 2015
I was going to go out and do errands this morning before I turned on the computer but checking on the Yukon Quest is more important than errands.
45 miles to Fairbanks!
GO TEAM TSUGA!!!
11:30 am on February 18th, 2015
can someone tell me about the Plunderers?
11:59 am on February 18th, 2015
Can someone tell Ellen about the Plunderers? Oy vey what a question. I will leave the telling to someone more proficient than me. Short answer, crazy group of people who visit on this blog.
12:07 pm on February 18th, 2015
ML, That would be my answer also. Let someone who is better with words than I am explain who the Plunderers are.
Welcome Ellen! You are more than welcome to join us. It is not as difficult as it first seems to figure out what we are talking about. One of us will always answer any question you might have.
The Plunderers…That’s us
12:07 pm on February 18th, 2015
Hi Ellen. Welcome to Chet’s place. Plunderers are the hard core group who post daily on this here blog. We are more like a family than mere cyber friends. We support each other, cheer each other on, make people laugh and discuss serious subjects.
We take our name from our illustrious retired professor of the English language who used to encourage her students to “plunder their minds” for deeper thought and perspective.
We are supporters of Snowhook Kennel in Alaska, the very best, most humane and loving kennel of Sled Dogs Extrodinaire. We all watch the Iditarod, the last great race on earth, and cheer wildly for “our” Snowhook team.
Our rallying cry is “Plunder On”
12:18 pm on February 18th, 2015
T&G Good Dogs!!
12:20 pm on February 18th, 2015
And sometimes we have our own words and traditions. It’s not like a secret handshake, we’ll tell you if you ask. We all love Spencer Quinn’s “Chet and Bernie” series and are looking forward with baity breath to April and his new series “Woof” for young readers.
12:34 pm on February 18th, 2015
BSD: this video is for you so you can see how “warm” it is here. Currently a blistering 30 and a low tonight of 5F. Know that the white shiitake is gone here now. Western and middle TN aren’t so lucky

1:02 pm on February 18th, 2015
Teddy: Great Photos of you and your Gal, as always.
Gilly: You look Quite Comfortable…at least to me.
Hounds: Thanks for the video. Add a Zero to that 5 and maybe I’ll join you.
Go Team Tsuga! You’re almost home.
Welcome Ellen!
1:03 pm on February 18th, 2015
Ellen! Ellen in Clackamas….bet I am the only Plunderer who knows where Clackamas is! In fact, MANY years ago I graduated from Clackamas High School….the old Clackamas High School on Webster Rd. And the Clackamas river is dear to my heart.
This here Plunderer group will take you to their hearts, too, if you post even a little bit like I do. The only rule is that you must read each Chet book with glee and wait with angst for the next one to appear. It also helps to be fond of Snowhook Kennel and their quest.
Now, you won’t find me in Clackamas much now, as somewhere along the way we got transplanted across the Columbia, but I am still an Oregonian in my heart. Also, I often stop at the Clackamas Fred Myer store on my way to Gladstone area to help out my 90 year old mother. See? You are among friends already!
1:13 pm on February 18th, 2015
And,Ellen, one other Plunderer lives in WA and the HOH’s mom spent many summers wandering between Astoria and Seattle. Visited many wonderful places and thought of moving to Pacific northwest once.
1:16 pm on February 18th, 2015
Congratulations to Miss P.
I think the beagles on this blog are better looking than those at the Westminster and our Sibers are too. Ours are user friendly while theirs would make good statues.
Ellen: Welcome. I had to look up Clackamas.
Go Team Tsuga!
1:19 pm on February 18th, 2015
HOH, did you ever explore Ft. Stevens State Park near Astoria and see the remains of the Peter Iredale wreck on the beach?
Should you ever decide to head to the Pacific NW we will greet you with open arms and take you to dinner at Tad’s Chicken & Dumplings on the Sandy River and personally introduce you to all the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. That is a promise.
1:42 pm on February 18th, 2015
OK, so we are assuming Clackamas is in Oregon. Welcome Ellen.
Many of us have been blogging daily for 4 to 6 years, so don’t feel bad if you have to ask what we are talking about. Just ask Diane C. who is still kind of a Newbie. I think it safe to say that we are mostly mature folks with a great love of dogs, cats and nature in general. And we like to refer to ourselves as an “internet literary group”. Some of us have alter egos (our four legged companions) who have voices of their own.
1:51 pm on February 18th, 2015
ALS, the first time I saw the Peter Iredale was back in ’73 or ’74. It was allmost completely exposed! In ’83, the last time I went up, it was almost covered. Loved the campgrounds at Fort Stevens. And I actually climbed the Astoria lighthouse. Only drawback is that I am more afraid of heights than I am of tunnels. I stayed plastered to the building and it took everything I had to climb back down. The first husband laughed his fanny off (one of many reasons he is an ex). Tad’s chicken and dumplings sounds lovely. As I keep telling Nana, I am trying to get back to the northwest.
2:21 pm on February 18th, 2015
I think Nana and I could make it a worthwhile trip, HOH! And hey…..that goes for any plunderer here. Just let me know when you come within 50 miles and we will plunder on to meet and greet……and take you to dinner! I have been greeting and escorting and dining with Yellowstone friends who travel through this region for years….I am an absolute Oregon expert! Best place? The Southern Oregon Coast for Cape Blanco and a ride on a jetboat up the Rogue River. Come on!
3:27 pm on February 18th, 2015
I need a sustaining glass of wine.
3:33 pm on February 18th, 2015
B: Us too, us too.
3:33 pm on February 18th, 2015
It’s not late enough here, but maybe later I will join you in a nice glass of burgandy….sustainability is important!
3:43 pm on February 18th, 2015
ALR! Twins at 3:33!
4:05 pm on February 18th, 2015
Ah yes, Masquers, we are the West Coast twins! Did I ever tell you I have been to Camano Island many times several years ago? My aunt lived on Michael Drive, I believe.
4:09 pm on February 18th, 2015
We missed the dog show, but Leno says he’s better looking than any of them froofy show dogs. And the other Chet would have said the same, dog rest him. You be the judge though. Leno on the left, Chet on the right, or so said the comment.

4:12 pm on February 18th, 2015
Hey, what you mean mature folks? I’m very, very immature, thank you very much. Huh…maybe some others of us are mature?
4:24 pm on February 18th, 2015
Buddy,Leno,Hilda: Mature? I’m sure they didn’t mean Us!
ALR: Are you Coming Back anytime Soon?
4:31 pm on February 18th, 2015
We’ve been called a lot of things—good looking, well-mannered, pick pockets, Chief Procurment officers, Hook and Crook, and lovable miscreants—but never mature. We are going to add that to our business card title. It’s like Barb, Maggie and Lucy know us first paw.
4:33 pm on February 18th, 2015
We are mature – its just that sometimes our age is inappropriate for our behavior.
Right, BSD?
5:00 pm on February 18th, 2015
Tupper and Gilly you made me laugh. Immature. Hmmmm I will show you some immature…

5:13 pm on February 18th, 2015
I didn’t say we were ALL mature ALL of the time…..
5:15 pm on February 18th, 2015
Staff – cute kitties in a box. Where are you shipping them off to?
5:18 pm on February 18th, 2015
TeddyRuffRider: You look pretty good in a Siber hat but Zeta shows you how to do it with her close up. Wow! She is a looker! You, Teddy, look like a natural with a stick in your mouth.
Buddy, Leno & Hilda: Chet and Leno both look very handsome. The picture won’t enlarge for me so it is hard to pick one over the other.
I did put a coat of primer on the living room yesterday and today I sprayed texture on some patches then left for T’ai Chi. Now I should be putting another layer of primer over that. Ugh. Maybe, maybe not. Maybe I should watch the Yukon Quest instead.
5:19 pm on February 18th, 2015
Staff: What I meant to say was…Eek! A two headed cat!
5:51 pm on February 18th, 2015
Great pictures on the blog today!
Real temp right now -4* and going down to -8*. Our coldest night of the year so far. Brrr. Josh is picking me up to babysit at their house for the evening, so they can go out to dinner for their anniversary.
Have a nice evening everyone.
5:52 pm on February 18th, 2015
B&M&L, WE resemble the 5:13 remark. And heck, look at mom, she never really grew up. She’s the height of the average 6th grader 🙂
6:02 pm on February 18th, 2015
BML: We know what you mean. Luna has brief glimpses of maturity, but she is not to our level of constant maturity. We love her despite this character flaw.
6:34 pm on February 18th, 2015
I am the only mature one in this household. The others, both 4-legged and 2-legged, not so much,
Go Team Tsuga!!!
6:37 pm on February 18th, 2015
Up and over Eagle Summit!!MM

6:39 pm on February 18th, 2015
Meashka, Are you any good at figuring out when Team Tsuga should be pulling into Fairbanks?
6:41 pm on February 18th, 2015
Howlers, Love the picture! Thank You!
The dogs look good.
6:43 pm on February 18th, 2015
Welcome Ellen–It’s nice to have another person from the Left Coast (there are a couple of others) (and see, I know where Clackamas is, too).
Bear–I don’t think the poodle can help his/her stupid hairstyle, but I do get annoyed because there’s always a poodle (and sometimes a couple) competing for Best in Show.
6:49 pm on February 18th, 2015
Masquers–Back again, and just in time to see a picture of Teddy disguised as a Siber. (I was completely deceived.)
Teddy–You may be interested to know that I decided to have a President’s Day activity and asked everyone I encountered to name his/her favorite President. You’ll be happy to know that the first person I asked said TR without a moment’s pause! (Predictably, no one mentioned Franklin Pierce, Millard Fillmore or John Tyler).
As long as y’all are explaining to Ellen, what’s the distinction between Thieves and Plunderers?
6:49 pm on February 18th, 2015
…love the Eagle Summit photo…
6:55 pm on February 18th, 2015
Staff! My godkitties are the cutest!
6:55 pm on February 18th, 2015
Plunderers are generally 2 leggers, althought those of the nation within certainly join in sometimes. Thieves are only 4 leggers and were born at Snowhook Kennel. They are named after famous outlaws like: Bonny and Clyde, Jesse James, Frank James, Doc Holliday, Pancho Villa, Lefty (The name escapes us).
Hopw we didn’t leave any of the infamous Thieves out. We know y’all will tell us 🙂
6:57 pm on February 18th, 2015
O’H, how many dogs are are on Team Tsuga? It doesn’t look like a big herd to us.
7:00 pm on February 18th, 2015
We happen to know that there are some honorary Thieves too, like Trigger the Counter Surfer, Maggie who excels in her studies to become a master Counter Surfer, and most Newfs who are by nature tall enough to reach counter height.
Corgis – hmmm, not so much.
7:01 pm on February 18th, 2015
HOH, Team Tsuga is running with ten Sibers now. I agree, it doesn’t look like 10 in the picture.
7:05 pm on February 18th, 2015
Siber’s Mom, Thank you!
HRH B, we have crossed our eyes paws and tails that your heater and pipe project is completed before you freeze.
7:09 pm on February 18th, 2015
Team Tsuga is 36 miles out, and currently doing 6 mph. Mom says that means an e.t.a. of 9:00pm AKT.
7:31 pm on February 18th, 2015
Howlers, Thank you. I will be asleep but I will go to sleep knowing they made it to Fairbanks. We will find out soon enough if they broke their own Yukon Quest time record.
7:32 pm on February 18th, 2015
Wow, just got word of some kind of upsetting pending legislation in C&B’s home territory. If passed, this would be really bad for those of us partnered with members of the nation that assist us in our everyday lives. Just, wow. I can’t believe. Although, maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. I think you should see the Email I got here. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153638853429937&id=533314936&__tn__=%2As
7:36 pm on February 18th, 2015
OK, I promise, no more to be said about my previous comment. I’m just kind of in shock here…
7:38 pm on February 18th, 2015
Buddy – just read it. That is simply incredible! Not just for people/dog pairs already living there, but what would happen to a tourist coming in with a guide dog? And lets face it, Arizona lives on tourism.
Beyond that, this is an incredible step back in time. Why in the world would ANYONE think this is acceptable legislation?
7:51 pm on February 18th, 2015
Is it all about the fees? Ahhhh…..more dollars from the pockets taxpayers! T & G make an excellent point, how would one evn pass through the state if depending on a guide dog.
8:00 pm on February 18th, 2015
OMD!!! Buddy, that is crap! Are you sure it’s for real? They cannot do that.
“The legislature finds that the Americans with disabilities act of 1990 may endanger the health and safety of the public, place an undue burden on businesses and others and conflict with state and local health codes.”
THEY CANNOT DO THAT!
8:02 pm on February 18th, 2015
Rio, American Idol is on. There are 48 contestants to be whittled down to 24 tonight.
8:02 pm on February 18th, 2015
That’s it – we are all going to Arizona and grab those perps by the pantleg!
We get the short ones.
8:06 pm on February 18th, 2015
Can they do that in one hour? Maybe it’s tonight and tomorrow.
8:13 pm on February 18th, 2015
I read Buddy’s article. They are dangerously nuts. I would like to think they can’t get away with it, but I don’t know.
Somehow this needs widespread publicity and people writing to the Arizona government to say they won’t be visiting Arizona anymore if this becomes law.
8:13 pm on February 18th, 2015
Buddy and O’H and T&G, a state’s legislation cannot supercede the federal legislation. That is what we were always taught. We say pahtooey with that proposed can of squirms. Gice us a pant leg or 4. Case closed.
8:17 pm on February 18th, 2015
Arizoona, (except for Siber’s Mom) And if this legislation passes there they will have to waste a lot of taxpayer money fighting the fed’s to try to keep it the law. Snort.
I hope they come to thier senses.
8:19 pm on February 18th, 2015
Of course, federal law would trump state law in this case, but if it passes, while people wait for it to get struck down or what have you, lots of misery and bother will undoubtedly befall lots of service dog users. Hopefully they’ll see sense and kill this thing.
8:20 pm on February 18th, 2015
I also love the eagle summit photo. Those dogs are beautiful
8:21 pm on February 18th, 2015
This is unfortunately a real thing. Even if they “can’t” do it, if it passes, there’s going to be a lot of misery until the feds tell them they can’t do it. You know, working at the speed of government and all.Of course, federal law would trump state law in this case, but if it passes, while people wait for it to get struck down or what have you, lots of misery and bother will undoubtedly befall lots of service dog users. Hopefully they’ll see sense and kill this thing.
8:42 pm on February 18th, 2015
Buddy!…I suggest you never ever go to Arizona….sniff!…In fact all tourism to the state should stop until the bill is kilt over dead…grump!
MollysMaw!…Idol will start here in about 20 minutes and I have no idea how they are going to cut that many people who are pretty darn good singers…sniff!
8:49 pm on February 18th, 2015
Yeah, that’s gonna suck, because I have relatives in Arizona.
8:57 pm on February 18th, 2015
Well!…Crap!…sniff!
9:07 pm on February 18th, 2015
Maybe we’ll just go to Colorado instead. Colorado is lovely.
9:09 pm on February 18th, 2015
Buddy!…Yes, my backyard is very lovely…snort!…You and yours are welcome to come and camp-out this summer. I will serenade you with my little harmonica and we will have STEAK!…gurgle!
9:11 pm on February 18th, 2015
MollysMaw!…This is different for Idol, isn’t it? Making the contestants sing in front of a live audience at a Blues Club…snort!…Then the long walk of redemption or hell…sniff!
9:33 pm on February 18th, 2015
Sing-Off!…yeeeep!…As a pug-vocalist and harmonica player, I still think an impromptu sing-off with another contestant would be so incredibly terrifying…yelp!
9:54 pm on February 18th, 2015
Sniff!…I finally get to post on this here blog and everyone is in bed or out shoveling snow…grump!
10:10 pm on February 18th, 2015
Nope not in bed here yet. Just watching Hercule Poirot figure out who killed someone while on a plane
10:12 pm on February 18th, 2015
I’m here, sort of.
10:18 pm on February 18th, 2015
Dawson – how was tai chi?
The Storyteller wants to try it, but the ” class” at our local senior center is a joke
10:20 pm on February 18th, 2015
no snow shoveling here
nighters y’all
10:24 pm on February 18th, 2015
T’ai Chi:
Tupper and Gilly: Good, but having trouble remembering the moves. I love T’ai Chi because it does not hurt my body and it helps my brain.
Idol!
The little musher Idol contestant, Daniel Seavey, made it through to the next round. He’s so cute!
10:26 pm on February 18th, 2015
Rio: Oh yeah! The library finally called and Sarah Canary came in and is ready for pick-up!
10:27 pm on February 18th, 2015
No shoveling snow here either.
The baseball teams are beginning Spring training.
10:28 pm on February 18th, 2015
Seavey!…Unfortunate name, but he sure is cute and he can sing like a Canary!….Wooooo!
10:29 pm on February 18th, 2015
Dawson!…You will have a helluva ride reading that book…snort!…Unless Barb decides to tell you everything that happens before paw….grunt!
10:30 pm on February 18th, 2015
Spring!…Training!…slurp! Oh yeah!…snorkel!
10:39 pm on February 18th, 2015
Spring!..Training!…snort! Oh no….sniffle
10:39 pm on February 18th, 2015
Rio: Did she let something slip? I’ve forgotten.
10:44 pm on February 18th, 2015
Dawson!…Do not dwell on it…heh!…I am so happy you have forgotten everything Barb may or may not have said. Read the book as if you know practically nothing…snort! …Let me know what you think of the characters along the way though. I will be very curious…chuffle!
10:46 pm on February 18th, 2015
Rio: “Read the book as if you know practically nothing…snort!” No problem! Heh!
10:52 pm on February 18th, 2015
Dawson!…I am totally bragging right now. KJF called me her “perfect reader” and thanked me very much…(((sigh)))…Of course it is HER I should be thanking profusely for her amazing insightful, funny, sometimes downright hilarious, and at the same time frightful, heartbreaking writing…blubber!slobber!…I sometimes wonder if she knows I am just a flat-headed pug…grunt!
10:53 pm on February 18th, 2015
Its that time. Must sleep.
G’night, family
11:02 pm on February 18th, 2015
Back home and ready for bed.
And come on Rio, we didn’t say all that much. Cut us some slack. And our lips are all sealed from now on! Nothing more said till Dawson has finished the book and is singing like a canary.
11:15 pm on February 18th, 2015
T&G: You live in Eastern Standard Time and go to bed the same time as me who lives in Pacific Standard Time. I will read for a while before sleeping.
I’m reading Peace Pipe Dreams by Darrell Dennis. The truth about lies about Indians. A serious subject generously sprinkled with humor.
Goodnight all, ‘cept LizF and ruby.
11:19 pm on February 18th, 2015
Barb!…..gah!…You even admitted to saying too much…grump!…Just keep silent please while Dawson is reading and enjoying the adventure…snuffle!
11:22 pm on February 18th, 2015
Photoez!…Before I forget again, I just want to say how wonderful the Teddy and Zeta photoez are and how very much I am enjoying them…snort!…When I see Teddy I think of my most wonderful friend and Special Agent Wookie….sniff! ….All the good times we had together will always be special memories…wuffle!
