Congratulations, Logan!

“Was the random number generator affected by the power loss?” Spence says.

“Don’t ask,” says Admin. “I had to take it completely apart and rejig the Vernier adjustment.”

“Piece of cake, really. Don’t forget I had a distant relative who was an engineer. Anyway, we have a winner. Congratulations, Logan, a puppy at the time this photo was taken. Logan, Chet’s new Friend of the Month, will be over there on the right for the whole of November, and as soon as Logan’s human companion sends a postal address to a signed – “

” – and paw-printed – “

” – copy of A Fistful of Collars will be on its way.”

    Hey! I’m first today.
Congrats to the new FOM Logan. Farewell to Fragment.
    Good morning fellow Plunderers.

Congratulations, Logan. You are one good looking pup. How about posting a later picture so that we can see how you’ve aged. A new FOM means a new month and it’s time for a new calendar page. Can’t say that we’re sorry to see October pass.
It was a tough month for too many people. Let’s hope that November will be better to everyone. This month marks the beginning of the Blou Christmas campaign also. It’s an event in honor of Blou. One store in Bradford and another in Ellicottville let us use their windows to collect supplies which we give to local shelters. There will be a tree trimmed in all blue decorations in each window, and
we hope to fill each window with donations of anything that would be useful in the daily operation of a shelter. We collect used towels and blankets, cleanng and office supplies, laundry detergents, food, toys, collars, leashes– just about anything that helps our sheltered friends. We accept donations from the beginning of November to the end of December. Wish us luck.

    Good Morning All!

Congratulations, Logan. You are a real cutie-pie.

Bye, Fragment. You were a most excellent FOM. Not to mention cute, too!

Tyb, thank you for the November calendar page!

Luna, I read your post last night. I was giggling so much because it was so much fun to blur. But I think Masquers whiskers were tickling me. 🙂

Logan is a cute Golden puppy. Congrats, Logan.

    Good morning all.

Today show reported from Hoboken N.J. this morning. We have relatives there. They had their cars in underground parking. They lost them, but all people and their dog, Sweetie, are safe.

Terry, Not sure where you stand politically and don’t want to know. BUT, there is a certain group that has made money selling things about the election and are looking for animal rescue and causes to send money. I immediately thought of Rescue Ink.
    Here’s their Facebook page.

Take care. I’ll be back later.

Whoops, one more thing then I have to pick up our go to guy.

Vernier: I looked it up. I like that it is a “secondary control mechanism on spacecraft”. There are other things that have Vernier in their name, but that one gives the best mind pictures.

We had a nice Trick or Treat evening. We all took turns greeting the kids and I got in a little unauthorized walkabout, but it was too scary so I came back. Belle had on a vampire collar thingy. She was Countess Barkula. No scarier than usual IMHO. A herd of kids from moms work came by. Boy were they surprised to see her. One asked to use the restroom and we were really glad it was clean!

Mom was gone overnight to her cousin’s memorial service. She had a good visit with relatives that she last saw Last October at her uncle’s service. Someone suggested we have a get together next October with no death involved.

Barb, the guy who sold us our stainless fridge says that a showroom trick is when the fridge is clean, spray it with WD-40. We haven’t tried it but he says it works well.

There seems to be a problem with the blog. Barb’s picture isn’t where it should be and I haven’t been able to connect for over an hour. I’ve finally gotten on and can’t remember what I was going to say. So much for a good start to November.

To paraphrase Arthur Dent, “It’s at times like these when a hurricane is hitting my house with 90 MPH bursts that I listened to the things that my mother used to tell me.”

    “What did she tell you?”

    “I don’t know. I wasn’t listening.”

Melanie – thanks for that tip. At the moment, Rescue Ink seems to be a bit under the weather. Their Facebook says that they saved all of the resident animals, but I can’t reach them by phone and their web page is linking to Viagra sellers. Yes, I DO have political opinions. Facebook friends have a pretty good idea where I stand.

Yesterday we were in Queens where my son’s block seemed completely unscathed. One block away on 194th street, things were different. A picture is worth a thousand words.

There seems to be a problem with the blog. Barb’s picture isn’t where it should be, and I haven’t been able to connect for over an hour. A few minutes ago I got on and typed my comment. When I submitted it, I got a message telling me that it was a duplicate comment. I erased what I though was the dupe and got a message that there was no comment entered. Here’s the second try, but it’s been so long since I first tried to connect that I forget what I was going to say. So much for a good beginning to November.

Okay, I think the photos are all here. Lily is beautiful. And yes, I think she should run for President in a few years.

Terry, that is one BIG tree.

OTAS spent an hour in a gas line but did get gas. GLAD was going to put all they had was the expensive gas, can’t remember what they call it because I never get anything but regular, and her car is a gas guzzler. She got it just before the price of gas soared.

Zoe was waiting for a call that had to do with the Raven’s stuff. Never ends that stuff.
She is now out getting a perm.

Lily could run for president in a few years. I probably won’t be around by then, but if so I would vote for her, even if I had to cross the aisle. If she follows her parent’s lead, she would no doubht be on the opposing side.

Chinese take out sounds yummy. Too bad we are having baked fish and acorn squash. The seed was planted, and Hong Kong chicken, fried rice and an egg roll may be in our near future.

Just a quick update about Dad’s followup visit to the neurosurgeon. Everything is looking very good. They removed the staples and Dad’s hair grows so fast that it should be back to normal very soon (although he does keep his hair very short). The doctor told him that the dull headache he still has continually will gradually fade away…but after all he did have brain surgery just 2 weeks ago.

It also did Dad good to hear the doctor say that they got all the tumor. Mom had told him that, but we don’t think he quite trusted that she actually heard that or just wanted to hear that. They were able to remove the tumor with a small amount of surrounding tissue without ever “breaking” into the tumor. Kind of like an egg yolk not breaking. It was sent to pathology whole which the doctor said is the best type of removal. But Dad is still looking at follow-up radiation and chemo treatments.

He’s been back at work this week and that is going great. Just like he never left.

Sometimes he gets a little down, but Mom just tucks the quilt around him tight and he gets better pretty quick.

That quilt is really something special.
