Congratulations, Sassy!

The random number generator has spoken (in a heavy East German accent, circa 1956) and it said: “Sassy.” (Not Stasi, which was what we thought at first.) Congratulations, Sassy, Chet’s Friend of the Month for July.

Sassy will be in the special place where Beppe has been, and as soon as we get a mailing address from Sassy’s human companion (send to spence.quinn@gmail.com) a signed and paw-printed copy of A Fistful of Collars will be on its way.”

“Next month,” says Admin, “this could be you! Just send in a photo to the Friends of Chet gallery. The random number generator does the rest!”

Sassy-125x125

Welcome relating dude, Cooper and Jerry from MA, Rio (a very special friend).

    Greetings!

RIO! My love, I’m sorry you didn’t receive the FOM, but you did get a shout-out up top.

I hope Rebecca’s flight is safe, and that she will be daring…dip those toesies into the Artic!!

Gooood morning, everyone! July already, hard to believe. Rio may not be the FOM, but he is a “very special friend”. That should mean something. Rose and B. a special gooood day.

In honor of the first, let’s have a jubilous (sp) July and congrats to Sassy!

Sigh. Congrats to Sassy and Eddie. It is dark and dismal here. Momma says it will be that way all va ation week long. Oh well, at least we are getting some good porch-sitting time for now.

    Sharon,HOH,
Wookie’s Dad is referring to a story Dawson (from Canada) told about attending a First Nations gathering and attempting the ‘frying pan throw’ contest. (A true story) Let us just say she is not a good Frying Pan thrower. She was offered a ‘do over’ but declined a pity throw. She feared for the safety of the onlookers.

    Congratulations to the new FOM.

Thanks for the Canada Day shout out. Up North there will be a parade with all the fire trucks, some horses, prizes for the best float and big community pig roast, children’s games, bingo, that sort of thing. Traditionally it will rain. Wookie’s Dad is right about the frying pan throwing contest. 😉 There might be an old timers hockey game at our brand new recreation center.

    Safe trip to Snowbella.

Today is Tea for Zoë, my sister, my newly wedded niece and me. Please blur in if you so desire. Cucumber sandwiches, strawberry short cake and a variety of teas will be served. Hats are required. I am wearing my Bling hat and Zoë is wearing her ALPHA hat.

Those temperatures are for DFW THIS WEEK!!! I know!! Annie is out frolicing in the grass like a puppy. Mom and I should be out working in the yard, but…

Mr. Husky, the roller coaster is at Six Flags over Texas. I have never been. Some discrimination issues. But mom and dad both worked there. When mom was a pup it was a big deal to work there because there were not enough jobs to go around. Now they go to the inner city and bring kids in by bus to work.

Mr. Husky, mom is sorry to say that she has not even kept up with the last few coasters to know which that one is. It is probably the Titan, the other newish one is wooden. In mom’s SFOT puppy days, she once rode the Big Bend coaster 8 times without getting off (friends in high places, heh-heh). The ride swung out over the place where she had eaten dinner, and on the eighth time by she thought about giving it back, so there was no ninth time. Aww good times.

The Raven worked as a wild fire fire fighter. On their honeymoon The Raven and Zoë went to Oregon and worked in a fire tower.

We are praying for the 20th member of the Hot Shots and for all their families.

Mama emerged from her Mud Room to hear that a couple of towns over there was a tornado. We didn’t even have a breeze to stir the trees – over there, the trees were pulled right up out of the saturated ground. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

The Storyteller is getting things together for a special prayer tonight for those firefighters. We don’t plan on posting it – but if you want to take a moment at 9 Plunder Time, we can all send our thoughts together.

Oh, and remember the guy who had to come and fix our furnace the other night? Turns out we need a whole new heating/hot water system. sob, sob, sob…….

  71. Herd of Hounds

HOH will be thinking tonight about the Arizona families and victims.

  72. Melanie
    7:46 pm on July 1st, 2013

Well, that’s interesting about the tornado. We’re as still as still can be here.

Tea was wonderful (and tiring). Got to hear about “some” of the honeymoon. Saw pictures and some of her glamor shoot. When I have a brain again, I’ll post one.

Here is the table before we ate. The china . . My Great Grandmother’s, Zoë’s, mine and a yard sale find. Silver . . Great Grandmother’s and Grandmother’s. Crystal . . mine (from Ireland)

Cucumber sandwiches have crusts. I know that is not “appropriate” as my Grandmother would say, but gluten free bread slices are not very big. The cake for the strawberries was gluten free pound cake. My strawberries are in the middle of that plate. The extra strawberries were store bought and not as good.

I looked at the forcast for July. My heart did not sing. I’m not sure I’ll ever get some of my garden blooming. The lettuse likes this. I wonder if I can make fried green tomatoes from cherry tomatoes?

Zoë says she is turning into a mold person.
