Good morning everyone! That is such a great pic. of Spence and Audrey. Always wondered what Audrey’s breeding was, and he said yesterday Golden and Bernese. You can see the retriever part (even tho she doesn’t want to retrieve).

Had a great relaxing day yesterday. Thank you for all the b-day wishes. Now today I get to go to the dentist. Yuck! Well, at least it isn’t a crown.

Melanie, hope you don’t mind, but I saved the pic of the cake that Maggie blurred back for me, and then emailed to a couple of friend. Everyone loved it! It was so cute.

Now Sam, she just might have hair extensions. You never know. . .

    Barb & MagPie: Of course!

About the above picture. I asked a certain someone about that thing I mentioned last night. And that someone said “Totally Fine!” So email me.

    Good Morning All!

    Reading over last night’s posts…

Miss Macy: I’m so worried about you. Wish you could come over to the East Coast.

    Rio: Welcome home!

Rebecca: Could we see pictures of the new pups…pretty please??
Give Belle Starr a hug for me.

    Welcome Karen!!!!

I adore that picture of SQ and Audrey. Uh, Melanie…Do you think you could be me on that list?

Melanie, We will email you if you wish, or could we just be put on the list from here? You have our email and snail adresses.

Do you need more KW bean seeds this year? We plan to save some, if they get a chance to dry before the frost.

Poor Sam. Could we have a picture after Karen the groomer leaves?

    Good morning all.

Ahhh…a human and their dog, nothing finer.

Melanie I think you asked about daylight up in the arctic. We are doing well, I starts getting dark around 8 PM but soon we will start losing 5 minutes/day and then we will have a couple of very dark months.

I would leave the leaves on the ground but 3 years ago I decided to put in a lawn. Unfortunately, it was a very cold, wet summer (I ran my furnace) so a lot of the grass seed didn’t germinate. I’ve been gone the 2 summers since then. If I leave the leaves on my so-called lawn, bad things will happen. I also discovered that I am not a lawn person and spending 1.5 hours mowing is drudgery. Plus all the weeds that flourish since the grass isn’t thick enough to choke them out.

Gosh Rio that is a huge paw. Makes you wonder if he has to use an extra large key board doesn’t it.

Melanie I will get on it. One for you, Zoe and Dan? Just in case?

Bear, They did not tell me that yesterday. Phoohey! Maybe for the Plunderers he will make an exception.

Bee, I think the beans might be hard to grow in a pot. Do you have a little area by your patio where you could do a trellis? The vines will get about 6 feet long. They do best in full sun.

    Off to the dentist. BBL

That’s a beautiful photo!! Mom needed that this morning because she hasn’t had a very good morning so far.

I got skunked, but I got the little bugger. He is deader than a doornail. Mom put the body beside the road and called animal control to come pick him up.
The bad news is that mom immediately called the fanciest grooming place in town because they open at 6:30am and with some begging she got them to take me in immediately. gah and double gah

No to the Wonderfluff. They wouldn’t dare.
Yes, I smell like a skunky powder puff. Skunk smell doesn’t bother me so I don’t know why it should my folks. Time is the best cure for skunk smell.

Eau de skunk! I love a man who smells like nature. Mom,not so much.

    Happy day after Barb.

Melanie, the picture will look great in mom’s (future) workspace as well. dre ee ee ee eem, dream, dream, dree-em.

    I sympathize with SH’s mom.

(Pondering: The skunk’s odor is his defense mechanism but it doesn’t bother other four-legged beings, only human beings. So…not much of a defense mechanism.)

Staff is going to make us IDs!

So I picked the picture. It’s of our older Lady, Eleanor.

    Snickering . . .

  33. BearSpiritDog
    3:05 pm on September 13th, 2011

Siber-H: Too bad about the skunking, if only because of that unscheduled trip to the groomer. Didn’t they have anything to remove the odor? Not that we care, but our families don’t seem to like it much.

Eleanor: A lovely photo for your ID!

Barb&Magpie: We’ll just have to wait and see what Spence signs. I hope you are right and he will make an exception for the Plunderers. Good news about the dentist.

Wookie! Our Cookbook came in the mail today!!! We LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! I cannot thank you enough for doing this. A Big Thank You too to your mom and dad. They are the Best!

  35. Siber-H
    3:30 pm on September 13th, 2011

Bear, They do use something to remove the odor, but then they have to do the bath, toenails and brush. The pet spa (and they do call it a pet spa instead of a groomer) is a pretty big place so mom figured they would have the de-skunking solution on hand. I like going to my regular groomer better but she works in her house and mom didn’t want to do that to her. I’m not telling the dogs at the dog park tomorrow that I was hauled off to a pet spa.

Stover, Mom has always wondered the same thing about the skunks defense mechanism. It has never worked on any of her dogs. The dogs do not care.

    Oh, Siber-H…

Melanie: The picture of Elanore is great for a badge! I wonder if Spence’s book tour has a stop in Willow? Dout it, but like Macy I can dream!

  37. Masquers
    3:59 pm on September 13th, 2011

B & Siber: I wonder if the skunk spray does bother certain wild animals as it is the skunk’s unique defense against life threatening encounters. If nothing else it would certainly startle any aggressor. Hard to believe only canines are unaffected. Maybe not all canines, only Sibers?

  38. Riö - The Evil Pug
    4:09 pm on September 13th, 2011

    Hamlet:
To be, or not to be?
    That is the question.

    Canine:
To skunk, or not to be skunked?
    Why is that a question?

  42. Siber-H
    5:14 pm on September 13th, 2011

Masquers, Mom says you may be right about only certain kinds of dogs not caring whether or not they get sprayed and still going after the skunk. Her experience has been with Sibers and a Dingo killing skunks.
I bet The Hot One wouldn’t care.
