Looks like a moist Monday in Texas. Glad to know that BooBear is okay.

Good morning. We are happy BooBear and company are high and dry. We Kats are not big on water.
What is it with dogs and puddles, we ask you?

Really quiet Monday. Hope all are either laboring or relaxing and are safe!
Lovely and sunny in South East Tennessee and the temperature may go up to 80. As long as the nights don’t get steamy will be OK.

It’s supposed to be 78 here today–about 25 degrees higher than normal. A lovely sunny day. I should clean the garden…but I’ll wait until it’s cooler again. Heh!

BooBear: Glad to hear you are high and dry and safe from the terrible flooding in Houston.

Bellé: A four-legged Friend! An honor indeed.

    WoooHooo! 72 here today!

I have been laboring and now am about to relax. Found my last two bushes for the new bed, cut the backyard grass, and now am having some lunch and a little well deserved nap.

Very warm here, too. Will get above 80* but I am not complaining. Back in the 60s the rest of the week.

My oldest granddaughter, Baye, who will be 17 this summer, has had the same boyfriend for almost two years. They are looking at colleges together and are even talking about their plans for after graduation (5 years from now). They are both really sweet and intelligent kids who get along great, but I worry about their lack of life experiences. Any thoughts on this?

Barb, the more they are told no, the more it will push them together. Listen, smile, nod and pray it works out!

It’s 81 f…… degrees here. One degree warmer than in Orlando according to the Weather Channel and 11 degrees too warm as far as I’m concerned.

Barb: I’d suggest that you leave them alone. They will be meeting new people in college and they will have many “life experiences” there believe me.

I was up early considering going to a fitness class but decided a BearSpiritDog “bap” was a better idea. No sooner did I get back to sleep than I got 3 phone calls in a row and that was the end of that idea.

It is a gloomy, windy and warm day. The man-who-is-travelling all week is due back here today before heading out again tomorrow. I plan to get out of my pj’s 5 minutes before he gets home and only because I have to go pick him up at the station. Slouch.

BooBear: I see nothing but rain in your weather forecast. Stay high and dry.

MacyMinPin: It’s raining there but at least not flooding.

    A low motivation day.

Low motivation and an NCIS marathon!
Mom says we are waiting for the V E T.
She thinks Darah is favoring a leg and wants the doctor to take a look.
They also serve who only stand and wait. Sounds like a good days in many places and enjoy them.

Believe me, my lips are, and have always been, completely sealed. Not my job, mon!

Meanwhile both moms are flying them to Florida, SC, GA and Texas to look at schools together. “What if they break up?” will never come out of my mouth, but the subject has crossed my mind. Guess one of them would probably end up transferring. And Zach is an absolute love of a kid, they are just so young.

Barb, I went through that. My granddaughter, Maya the Pug’s girl, started in 8th with a nice boy and they stayed together until they graduated from high school. Five years. Whew! Then they just went their separate ways. She got a full scholarship to a local college for radiology and he went on to Case University for computers.

80 here and I have done a little “light cleaning” of a garden. Done for the day.

    Stay dry, BooBear.

    Stay relaxed, Dawson.

Audrey and Pearl — both distinct personalities and beautiful.

By the time my grandkids are in that situation, Barb, I will be too old to care.

Good Afternoon, dear blog family. I have a question about searching the resale value of a vintage sewing machine. Can someone help me? And what information would be needed?

Mama got lots of stuff accomplished today as she escaped….ummm, make that went off alone to do her errands. She hit the Mother Lode at Goodwill – there was a whole set of just-like-new “Ella Clah” mysteries by A.Thurlo. We haven’t read them yet, but have heard much about them. Now we have lots of them! Woo hoo!

Barb – college will be a whole new and BIG world for those youngsters. Ideas may change, lives may change. At least he is a nice boy. Could be MUCH worse.

DianeC. Staff is the antique sewing machine guru and head know it all. She knows and collects OLD sewing machines.

T & G, you are SOOOO right! He could be a drug addict or high school drop out. But he is a really nice boy. Guess they will figure it out. When I think of some of the kids that could have ended up my SILs or DILs I cringe! They all had some real doozies!

  25. dawson
    7:14 pm on April 18th, 2016

DianeC: Staff does collect old sewing machines but there is not a lot of money changing hands on these deals. Unless it is a Singer “featherweight”. Then maybe. Mind you, I know nothing about sewing machines, just what I’ve learned from hanging around with Staff.

High wind warnings in effect here. Hatches are “battened down”.

Hobbit we have missed your wisdom while you are breaking rocks in the hot sun.
Oh not breaking rocks, working your tushie off. I’m going to hold mom down while she finishes reading A Fistful of Collars to me since tomorrow is library day and she really wants to put the books back. Seems like spring has truly arrived.

Diane C. Yep I am the one to talk about for old machines. If you have pictures and info you can send them to me at ncdrew at gee male dot com. Most old machines are worth what you can get someone to pay for them. I know many people think they are worth lots because they are old, but they are almost always NOT rare. They made (really) many millions of them. Of course you might have a scarce one….

It helps if you can send along the serial number also.

I have been offline all day. Someone, we are blaming a farmer, cut the cable that connects our area to the world. Just got back on about 10 minutes ago. It was off since the morning!

Well I am done laboring for the day and will clean up and see if I can go out for dinner. I wasn’t breaking rocks but was raking years of oak leaves, shoveling dirt and moving bricks to various locations. A small part of me was saying that since no one else in the family visits the house and works, why am I doing this? Everyone else comes here to vacation. But it looks nice so I am glad I did it.

CHobbit!…Are you working on your house in Anchorage?…snort!…Just say the word and I will send Beau up there to help youse. He is a big pain in the beegeezies so if you can use him for manual labor and give him his daily shots and special food that would be great!….YES!…Just Say “YES” Chobbit!…snort!

Rio: even better I am in California! Much closer for Beau. Now to contact the blurrers. However, he has to get along with the cute little terrier who barks at me even tho I am in day 3 of trying to be friends. I met the owners today so now I know his name. They both work from home and noted that they saw me painting and laboring. Did they not hear their dog and me talking to it?
