But let’s call this play with an edge.

Good morning all.
9:01 am on December 2nd, 2013
Good morning, everyone! Clara and the elk look like they have a pattern to their game. The elk is also prancing and springing (does the name Gerald Mc Boing Boing come to mind?) Hope everyone is safe, satisfied and satiated.
Think today will ba a manic Monday for many with unpacking, packing (T&G’s Mama), laundry from trips and shopping.
9:05 am on December 2nd, 2013
Mc Boing Boing has nothing to do with springing, but it sure sounds like it.
9:38 am on December 2nd, 2013
My Two-legged has boarded her plane headed for the far north. Before she left she decorated for Christmas. Our tree is small, but it sparkles just like me.
9:48 am on December 2nd, 2013
Good morning. We are all trapped indoors today, including the horses. It is the first day of the deer hunting season, when all the crazies are running around with guns. Ugh
10:12 am on December 2nd, 2013
Good morning all. We get the ‘putter cuz those snuffling little sycophant Corgis are too busy sitting in laps, getting tummies to be bothered with anything else.
And yes, it will be a crazy day here. For some reason, the travelers didn’t want to unpack the truck upon returning home late last night. Humans are just SO lazy.
Personally, we Kats had a busy weekend too what with climbing the Christmas tree, and rearranging all the other decorations. But did THAT stop US from spending a productive night shredding wrapping paper – no, it did not. We are nothing if not industrious.
10:24 am on December 2nd, 2013
Fun video. Definitely looks like they were enjoying the frolic. Good thing Oley’s deer hunter weren’t around. One thing Barb doesn’t miss about living back in town, is all the hunters driving up and down her road looking for something to shoot. She always wanted to go out and give them the one finger salute.
Today is nice here, supposed to be 50 by Wednesday, and then temps will drop into the teens by Friday, with possible snow.
10:29 am on December 2nd, 2013
Giggle – Barb, you are a hoot and a half.
11:00 am on December 2nd, 2013
A lot of those hunters act like it is their dog-given right to hunt anywhere they please. They completely ignore “No Hunting” signs, and when the ‘rents catch them, they have the audacity to yell at Mom and Pop that they have no right to keep them off!!!!
There was a dog shot and killed by one of them a few weeks ago. Not by accident, but just because he was there, on his own land, that the hunters think they are entitled to. We all hate this time of year.
11:02 am on December 2nd, 2013
Those aren’t hunters. Those are murderers trying to find a legal outlet to satisfy bloodlust, just saying.
11:08 am on December 2nd, 2013
O’Howlers: Hunters! Don’t get us started!
Hounds: You said it true.
Barb&Magpie: Our Forecasts look the same. We must be twins.
Royals: Welcome home (before youse have to leave again)
BTW: Did you know? I won the bear, I won the bear!!!
Payment is winging its way North to Alaska today.
11:19 am on December 2nd, 2013
BSD, we loved the bear too, but it perfect that you won it!
When Barb had her mini donkeys and goats she put up signs saying “No Hunting – Farm Animals”. The neighbors next to our pasture thought that was so funny. They said no hunter is going to shoot an animal standing in a pasture, but Barb didn’t believe them. One of her goats was the color of a deer, and we actually heard about someone’s pet donkey getting shot. Idiots!
11:25 am on December 2nd, 2013
Herbs: Tree climbing…paper shredding…you know how to have fun!
There is a rumor someone here will be going HOME on We(d)nsday! Hurray! Our own computer and schedule. Life back to normal. ^..^
11:29 am on December 2nd, 2013
Fellow Sibers, How long does deer hunting season last? In this state, you can add drinking to all the things you already listed that they do.
Bear? Do you have SNOW?
Congratulations on winning the beautiful bear.
Dawson, Got your message last night.
11:42 am on December 2nd, 2013
BSD, Funny that we have the same weather when we live so far apart. Glad to hear that Nana is going home! There is no place like home….
11:45 am on December 2nd, 2013
Greetings!
BSD: I am so happy that you won the bear! I own four of The Royal Mum’s bears, and I treasure them.
RIO! Tell your friend I will go half with her on a trailer, so we can visit Plunderers, and I can live my dream of being a recluse.
Don’t forget, it is CYBER MONDAY!
11:48 am on December 2nd, 2013
Deer hunting with regular rifles lasts 2 weeks. The first week is for buck only. The second week is for either antler or antlerless.
The season for bow and muzzleloader lasts much longer.
A couple of years ago, a shell went into a little girl’s bedroom on Main St., in our little village that is not farmland. The theory is that the shot was fired up in one of the surrounding hills. These people are very reckless.
We are not opposed to hunting per se. Unless you are a vegetarian, you should not be opposed to it either. Animals killed by hunters live a much more humane existence than those you are buying in hour local grocery store, or devouring at most of your local restaurants.
Our issue is with the mentality of those among us who consider the killing of animals to be a “sport” and then hang the animal’s head in their home like some sort of testosterone-infused trophy.
Stepping back down now. Sorry for the rant.
11:56 am on December 2nd, 2013
OH: You go. We are with you! Daddy Dawg hunted with bow and rifle for years till we got together. He knows my personal aversion but we both understand food even though I am mostly vegetarian (strict for years, now no mammals). Hunting is not bad, carelessness and stupidity and show off are BAD. We allow hunting (with permission) on our 27 acres.
12:15 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Chet: Thank you. Mom bought a Slim Jim for Pookey on the trip. She told us so Daddy Dawg brought some home and we got to share one just now. Delish.

Never mind. Pop says that news report is a hoax.
12:35 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Awww…poor Michael Vick. Now if we could just hire Nurse Rachet to come and be his personal care attendant. Along with a pack of really angry, genuinely pissed off pooches to tend to his every movement.
May the insides of his cast be coated with sandpaper and ants.
So there!
12:41 pm on December 2nd, 2013
T’s Mama: That is just mean…perhaps some fleas could accidentally find their way into his casts.
12:45 pm on December 2nd, 2013
I’m glad that Barb did not give theone finger salute. That would have angered idiots.
I believe there good hunters and bad. Unfortunately the bad gets more press. People respect property rights up here. Might be the fact the same families have owned the property forever.
Only bad thing that I have seen? Rose found a bag of candy in a hunting area. It was for baiting bears. We reported it to the correct officials.
Today is Mellow Monday for this household. Yaaawwwnn. The Pack have had their heart worm shots. Zoë is watching some Doc Martin, and I’m reading. Heaven.
12:46 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Cripes
1:01 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Masquers and BearSpiritDog, congratulations. There’s no place like home.
Macy, glad you enjoyed the link last night. Reminded me of one of my favorite movies. Christmas Vacation
1:15 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Siber-H: No. No Snow. Yet. But like Barb&Magpie’s forecast, it is Promised.
O’Howlers: Too bad it was a hoax.
Melanie: Sounds like a Mellow Monday (apologies to the Hounds) for you and Zoe.
Is Christmas Vacation the one where the Griswalds travel to Europe and stay with a family they think are relatives that remark as they are leaving, “Who were those people?”
We here watched A Christmas Story yesterday.
1:20 pm on December 2nd, 2013
BSD: We love Christmas movies. Mom gets all schmaltzy (though what chicken fat has to do with christmas, we don’t know).
1:43 pm on December 2nd, 2013
We here are suckers for Christmas movies too – the ones that Hallmark is running this month run the gamut from just awful to very sweet. But we still love the old versions of Christmas Carol. The newest one with Kelsey Grammar is so very, very bad, it’s criminal that it was committed to film.
(just our opinion, mind you)
1:50 pm on December 2nd, 2013
In the early 1990″ Daddy Dawg did Scrooge and mom did ghosts past and future in Poway, CA theatre. Mom just found battery operated lights she used.GAH, technology changes…time marches on!
2:02 pm on December 2nd, 2013
BearSpiritDog, not that one. They decide they want a good old fashion family Christmas, and everything goes down hill from there.
I believe either Netflix streaming or amazon prime has it showing now. “Christmas Vacation.” It is the same family. I do like children in this one better than I do in the others. The daughter played in another of our Christmas favorites. “Mixed Nuts.”
Back to nap time.
2:07 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Ain’t electronic technology grand?

Ho, ho, ho happy lights with batteries and no heat…er , holidays!
2:57 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb did not give the salute for exactly the reason you mentioned Melanie. She was afraid they would come back and get even in some awful way.
We agree with Oleys – if you are hunting for food then it isn’t so bad, except we just can’t get past the enjoyment of taking a life part of it. How can watching a beautiful living creature die make you feel good?
Too bad the Vick story was fake. Our values must be skewed – we would not have felt bad about Vick suffering.
3:17 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Here is something interesting – yesterday we were watching a little indie film and they had a preview for a movie called The Exonerated. It is a documentary type film featuring 6 people who were falsely convicted of murder and sent to prison. Brian Dennehy says “I was arrested 3 hours after my parents were found murdered”. Then the name Gary Gauger flashes on the screen. Barb jumped up and said “HOLY S***!” Gary Gauger was a client of Barb’s for 10 years and the organic farmer she bought some tomato plants from last spring. He was on death row in Illinois for 3 years, and was released in 1996. He was then granted a full pardon in 2002, after some motorcycle gang members confessed to the crime. Gary’s farm was about 3 miles from Barb’s office. He and his wife still farm organically and sell at Farmer’s Markets in the area. Gary has been on 20/20, Oprah and some other shows. We ordered the movie from Netflix.
3:47 pm on December 2nd, 2013
I had to go shopping for groceries. It wasn’t extremely crowded but everyone seemed to be in a bad mood.
4:00 pm on December 2nd, 2013
B: Bad moods are not in the best holiday spirit are they? Best these folks stay home if they feel that way IMHO.
Most of our holiday shopping is fait accompli thanks to the Snowhook auctions. Heh.
5:01 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Okay, couple of things.
I didn’t know that elk pranced. So beautiful. Used to animals lumbering around here.
BelleStarr, is there any visible green between the sparkles?
Arrrg. Only one more episode of season 1 Miss Fisher’s. sigh.
Now have to find out when season 2 comes to the USA.
Good moods are good.
5:25 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Moody!…I’ve been in a pretty good mood today…sniff!…We all got some sleep last night finally…grunt!…That Elk video is funny!..heh!heh!
5:31 pm on December 2nd, 2013
My Girl will be home in three hours. I am beside myself.
5:51 pm on December 2nd, 2013
I had some ice cream so I’m in a good mood.
5:58 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Did you see the new FOC Pickles? I could not refuse that dog anything. There is another cutie, Ruby from Canberra Australia. Liz’s neighbor.
6:04 pm on December 2nd, 2013
HRH, B: I just noticed today’s GOOGLE DOODLE.
6:06 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb&Maggie: How terrible it must be to be convicted of murdering your parents and sentenced to death when you are innocent!
O’Howlers: How about a Fern update? Has she spent a day outside yet or is she becoming a house chicken?
6:34 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Dawson, Yes, if you met Gary, you would describe him as a soft spoken, gentle soul. Problem was, he used to, on occasion, drink and smoke a little you-know-what. After 21 hours of police badgering, where they even told him they had found evidence of his guilt in his room (which they made up) he finally said maybe he did it and just had no memory of it. That was all it took, and he was on a one way ticket to he**. We had some very corrupt people in power in Illinois, and there were several people who got their sentences overturned when Gary did. His twin sister never stopped trying to get him released.
6:54 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Thank you Rose.
7:20 pm on December 2nd, 2013
We’re watching tv and a commercial comes on with James Patterson promoting his new book, Cross My Heart. I went to Amazon to check it out and wow! Many unhappy people because the book has no ending. However, it does I have a sequel. So it’s 400 pages and you still have to buy another book.
7:38 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Years ago James P. used to write his own books. Now he comes out with one about once a month, and they are always James P. and co-written with someone else. What do you think? We no longer buy them.
7:42 pm on December 2nd, 2013
A James Patterson book that has 400 pages? Now we know he didn’t write it.
7:45 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb, agree with you. Don’t need to contribute to the Patterson continuum.
7:47 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Help, not recognizing my name.
7:48 pm on December 2nd, 2013
TY, we are back…and Rio, no comments!
8:05 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Lark!…Patterson…sniff!…Remember in the last Robbie of Sherwood street how her dad started ghost writing for another author…heh!heh!…I’m sure that the Charming Mr. Abrahams was spoofing Patterson…chuffle!
8:07 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Sammie!…Is your girl home yet?…snort!…When she arrives are you going to twirl and spin and yeeep! right out loud over and over till you splort on her shoe-s?….chuffle!
8:14 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Rio, We thought exactly the same thing in the Robbie book!
Fern is still not walking well and so she remains a house chicken. Mom says she always needed one of those. And believe it or not, Fern laid an egg today! It was a small one, but the shell was perfect.
HALLELUJEH!!!!! Mom believes she found us a farm sitter for when they go North to Alaska!!!!!! Meashka tried to convince Mom that she could take care of everything, but for some reason, Mom wasn’t buying it.
8:17 pm on December 2nd, 2013
At least 20 years ago (or maybe more), Barb read one of Patterson’s books about a girl who could fly and had bones like a bird. Don’t remember the name of it. Turns out she had escaped from an experimental lab, and wanted to out the bad guys. Barb liked the book, but thought it seemed so different from any of his previous writings. Looking back, we wonder if he really wrote that story line.
8:20 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb!…That sounds like something Robbie’s dad would have written as a ghost writer…heh!heh!….Something light that takes flight in 400 pages or more…snort!
8:29 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Mom has only read 1 series of James Patterson’s books…the ones with Alex Cross, the detective. After the 4th or 5th girlfriend of his got murdered, Mom decided “had enough”. Really???
8:32 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Patterson gives no credit to a co-writer so maybe he wrote this all by himself. This guy is not about writing, he’s about $$$. Now he wants you to buy a second book to find out how the first one ends. He’s a big rip off.
Barb, Mom read that same book about the girl with wings.
8:43 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Sammy, So what does she think, did he write that book or not?
8:47 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb, it was so long ago. Mom didn’t know about him like she does now. Makes us wonder now.
8:49 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Read!….We here have never read a Patterson book and I am pretty darn sure we never will…snort!…But we have read Charles Schultz and “Charlie Brown’s Christmas” is on in about 10 minutes from now….Wooooo!
9:02 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Great!…We are in for a helluva big snowstorm tomorrow afternoon…grump!…Probably that storm Dawson just lived through…sniff!…Lots of cold freezing air and snow!snow!snow! I HATE snow….grump!
9:07 pm on December 2nd, 2013
On my way to the airport!
9:08 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Airport!…I hope Sammie is not driving!…wheeze!
9:19 pm on December 2nd, 2013
How did Princess Sam clone herself? Inquiring minds want to know.
I remember that JP book. Wasn’t there more than one?
Other people have said things I wanted to comment on, but I’m just not there. What I need is a plain old decongestant. Which you can’t get any more, and if they had them I probably wouldn’t be able to take them. Sigh.
I’ll cough myself to sleep. I did get a humidifier ordered. It comes in tomorrow or Wednesday.
Night all . . Hack hack hack
9:23 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Hack!….I read the last line of Melanie’s post first…sniff!…I know but that is what I do these days. I thought at first her post was about J. Patterson…heh!heh!heh!snort!
9:24 pm on December 2nd, 2013
OooooOOOooooMelanie!….One word. Airborne…grunt!gruffle!
9:32 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb is in the same boat. Coughing all night long, for over two weeks now. When will it ever end?
9:35 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Barb!…That’s what you get for licking the airplane seats…sniff!…And not taking a you-know-what…grunt!
9:42 pm on December 2nd, 2013
We are heading off to bed before one of youse makes us sick.
But, heh! Why didn’t any of you say Hallelujeh with us? Do you know how hard it is to find someone to stay here with us? (At least someone of whom Mom approves.)
9:46 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Hallelujeh!
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Rebecca!…I wonder how Rebecca is doing at the Top O’ The World in December….brrrrrr!
9:59 pm on December 2nd, 2013
O’Howlers: yay for you and youse. This is a big giant step towards traveling north
10:12 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Howlers – WOOOO HOOOOOO!! Good for your mom finding a farm sitter. We would have been happy to come and “ride herd” on you all, but it would have been hard for us to reach your kibble.
Don’t think we have ever read a JP. Don’t think we ever will.
Sammie – glad your girl is coming home. Coincidentally, your college picture was just up top.
We have been holding Mama’s feet under the work table as she worked on bears for the show this weekend. Don’t worry Rio – she will save some for future auctions.
10:24 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Rio, you are right, IF Barb ever flies again she will take an Airborne first. No more licking airplane seats ever!
Oleys, And you are right too, it is really hard to find a good farm sitter. Much easier to find a human babysitter.
Now we are going to say good night. Sweet dreams, all.
10:32 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Prevention!…Is the best Medicine!…grunt!…Just ask my friend….wheeze!
10:32 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Girl!…I really hope Sammie’s girl took an Airborne before starting her very long trip home…sniff!
10:49 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Today I finally caved and bought a new printer. It took me 4 hours to get it set up but now I can print! Whoo Hooo. Now I have to get the old printer kicked to the curb. Next Monday!
I am glad to hear that Nana will be going home. We are totally amazed at how fast she has been recovering!
I am all tuckered out after my fight with the new printer. Nighty noodle all.
Oh yeah it started to snow here while we were out. Big fat wet flakes that ended up sticking, but only about an inch of snow.
10:51 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Nana!…Coming home?…wheeze!…
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah…chuffle!
11:00 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Rio – we think that maybe a certain Bible quoting Pug is starting to have a good influence on you.
Next think we know, you will be saying “please” and “thank you”, and “excuse me” after you burp.
But we aren’t holding our breath. Oh wait – maybe we should, but for a different more odiferous reason.
11:12 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Beau!…heh!…No.
Word!…Hallelujah has always been one of my favorite words…snort!…All the really old timers on the blog can attest to this…chuffle!
11:20 pm on December 2nd, 2013
Aww Rio – we love it when you chuffle.
But for now we are saying g’night.
G’night all.
11:28 pm on December 2nd, 2013
TREE!…My friend says we will be attempting to put up our very own Christmas Tree down here, down stairs this coming weekend…heheh!…We will have a tree just like last year…yes!…Her mother can sit in the dark and gloom upstairs if she wants to. We will be festive and Christmas-time-ey down here…guffle!…My friend says she is NOT cooking anybody anything this Christmas. She has had it up to here and beyond feeding ungrateful and unthankful people all her life it seems…sniff!…So I have to ask, what will I be eating for Christmas dinner??…wuffle!
12:28 am on December 3rd, 2013
We still read the Alex Cross series, but I think it is because of moms OCD more than anything.
Dad is home sick and will be again tomorrow. Mom is depressed and crabby. Annie snarled at me. Doesn’t anyone want to adopt a nice quiet min pin?
12:34 am on December 3rd, 2013
Oh Macy…hang in there. It will get better
