Christmas Shopping
We’re Christmas shopping, which is how come there’s no post today. Bernie wants to get something for Suzie. Something appropriate he tells me. “Sometimes I think I have trouble with the whole appropriate concept,” Bernie says. Bernie and I are alike in some ways.
“Maybe Mr. Singh has a nice bauble, a bracelet, or ring, or one of those neck things.” Mr. Singh the pawn shop dude? “Easy, big guy.”
Mr. Singh: From Thereby Hangs A Tail
“Bernie! Chet!” said Mr. Singh. “How is our beautiful timepiece today?”
Bernie handed over his grandfather’s watch. His grandfather once owned a big ranch where Mesquite Road and our whole neighborhood was now, but lost everything, possibly because of a drinking problem, although the drinking problem might have come from some other story Bernie had told me, a story about another relative. But not Bernie’s father. Bernie never talked about his father, who’d been dead for a long time. Bernie’s mother was still around. I’d met her once: a piece of work. She lived somewhere far away with a new husband, or an even newer one. She called Bernie Kiddo! What was up with that? But I still shouldn’t have done what I did, a story perhaps for another time.
Mr. Singh held the watch in both hands, admiring it. “Do you know that only a dozen of these were made?” he said. “How I would love to take this on Antiques Roadshow.” Mr. Singh had a strange way of talking, almost like music. I could listen to him all day. “Did you ever find out how it came into his possession?” he said.
“No,” said Bernie.
“Thereby hangs a tale, I’m sure,” said Mr. Singh.
A tail? Was Mr. Singh saying Bernie’s grandfather’s watch had a tail? Fun to listen to, Mr. Singh, but hard to understand. We left, a big wad of cash in Bernie’s pocket and a bite or two of curried goat kebab in my mouth. I like ethnic food. So does Bernie. There are picky eaters out there, but not us.

C Harris – Mom gives out small tubes of Aquaphor here on the ski slopes. It’s good stuff.
G&BB – Good that the poodle was getting a non-show haircut. I hope there were no ribbons or bows put on its ears. Sam doesn’t go for the bows either.

I think Suzie would like a Meistertuck Montblanc Diamond pen. This link is neat.
http://www.montblanc.com/products/26.php
10:12 am on December 10th, 2010
On the Montblanc site go to “Limited Editions” and click on “writer’s edition.” I want to get the Virginia Woolf pen. How cool is this!
10:14 am on December 10th, 2010
Repeat!… I feel like I’ve read Chet’s post before….grump! … I was really expecting to hear more from Foster this morning for some reason…..grumble! …Bernie will probably end up buying Susie a Hawaiian shirt or glow in the dark earrings….snort!
10:19 am on December 10th, 2010
Melanie, any word on Dan this morning?
Happy Friday, everybody!
10:21 am on December 10th, 2010
MagPie! That storm forecast for tomorrow could bring ice to your area. Make sure that Barb has good boots with heavy tread on the bottoms, if she absolutely has to go out to the chickens.
10:23 am on December 10th, 2010
Stover!….How much do you suppose these beautiful pens cost?…grunt!
10:26 am on December 10th, 2010
Yes, Rio – We didn’t see any prices on those pens either. I have to be careful here because Mom saw one she liked.

Fighting a cold and sore throat, I guess I can look forward to a weekend of being under the weather. Speaking of weather, I checked the temperature and it is only -15 (up from -36 yesterday) so I feel a little better already. The radio is annoyed at the weatherman who keeps telling us it’s going to be -45….how can they get it so wrong? Also, at this time of year I am reminded that I could have put the Christmas lights up in October while it was still “warm.” Am hoping to go see some ice carvings this weekend.
Thanks for the moisturizer ideas, I will try and find them when I get to a store. I know my house is too dry but humidifiers don’t seem to be able to add much to the 20-30% humidity and when I use them, I usually come down with a cold & sore throat (hence the cold/sore throat today).
Hope Dan is doing better in the hospital … and Melanie, aren’t you up next with surgery? Take care of yourself.
10:37 am on December 10th, 2010
I think the old saying “If you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.” comes into play here.
10:57 am on December 10th, 2010
The Virgnia Woolf pen is $829. (They sell them at Amazon.com.) Mollypop: Which one did your gal like? There are cheaper Montblancs on Amazon also.
CHarris: At Kmart (don’t know if you have that store there; it’s similar to Walmart) you can get Vicks humidifiers–$20. They are plastic and hold enough water (the larger size) for 12 hours of humidity. After you put the water in you also put a bit of salt and then put the top on and plug them in. They work wonders. I have three, one in various rooms.
Rio: I’ll get the cream cheese pinapple gel recipe.
11:17 am on December 10th, 2010
B.Stover: That recipe sounds good. I’ll copy it too. That is way to much money to pay for a pen. I’m going to look at that link now.
11:18 am on December 10th, 2010
Sides!… Anyone else have any really great side dish recipes you want to share?…snort!… Anything sort of on the healthy side, just so my friend doesn’t freak out…grunt!
11:32 am on December 10th, 2010
B – You troublemaker!
Mom has had a Mont Blanc ballpoint pen for over 20 years. She was always worried about losing it. Now she likes the Starwalker Black Resin ones.
11:40 am on December 10th, 2010
Chet, don’t forget to let us know what you guys decide to get Suzie for Christmas. I don’t think she is the type of girl to be impressed by a gift just because it is expensive. That’s a compliment.
11:40 am on December 10th, 2010
Mollypop: On the Amazon site there are twelve Montblanc Starwalker black resin pens from $300 to $650. Heh!!!
11:51 am on December 10th, 2010
Pineapple Salad:
2 cans of pineapple (I use one of crushed and one of chunks)
Save 1/2 c. pineapple juice
1 8oz. cream cheese
l-1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 envelope gelatin
l/2 teaspoon salt
l/2 c. mayonnaise
Soften 1 envelope gelatin in 3 tablespoons cold water; dissolve in hot pineapple juice; cool.
Soften cream cheese; add lemon juice, mayonnaise, salt.
Add pineapple (crushed and chunks) to cream cheese mixture; blend in gelatin mixture.
I put this in an eight-inch round flat bottomed Tupperware dish. (In other words, not in a deep bowl.) Cover and put in frig for several hours until set. Just spoon it out in individual servings.
11:58 am on December 10th, 2010
Rio: Here’s another side dish:
Kidney Bean Salad
1 small onion diced
3 stalks celery diced
2 hard boiled eggs cut up
2 c. drained kidney beans
1 tablespoon mayonnoise
2 teaspoons mustard relish
1 teaspoon curry powder
Salt and Pepper
11:58 am on December 10th, 2010
We don’t use humidifiers here. My mom has this crazy, non-scientific idea that she just has to adapt to whatever climate she is living in.
Rio, I don’t know if your family likes asparagus or not, but it would go with everything on your menu and it is green and healthy. The only problem, besides not liking it, would be that it is not considered a Christmas vegetable.
12:17 pm on December 10th, 2010
Stover!…Thank you very much!…snort!… I think she will definitely try these two recipes….sniff!.. How many people do these recipes feed anyways?…sneeze!
SiberH!…She has tried to put asparagus in front of these people before and they don’t like it…grunt!…I think it will be the Broccoli with cheese sauce again….snort!
12:21 pm on December 10th, 2010
Rio: The kidney bean salad recipe would serve at least six; the pineapple salad at least eight.
12:24 pm on December 10th, 2010
Gus&BooBear, Never fear! I am proud of my Texas heritage and will never forget that I am a Texas guy. I shed a few tears every year in rememberance on March 6, the most famous date in Texas’s long history.
I do love NM food and, WOW, did you see the Christmas menu at Wookie’s place.
Keep us posted on your new Plan B, brother. I hope that the cat’s owner knows that his pet will be well taken care of no matter what happens. That will help his state of mind.
12:28 pm on December 10th, 2010
Mom is going to make the kidney bean salad soon for us…looks Delish.
12:47 pm on December 10th, 2010
B – Do you like the actual fountain pen, the felt tip, or the ballpoint? Mom’s favorite is the felt tip but she can’t make nice handwriting unless she can press hard, so it’s ballpoints for her. When she does her crossword puzzles, in pencil, you should hear all the snapping of breaking lead that goes on.
12:50 pm on December 10th, 2010
Goodness sakes, I’m late.
I will be later again . . . snicker. Putting up decorations, but . . .
Just HEARD from Dan.
Sounds like a frog, but the thing is out of his throat.
He’s happy!
Will know more when Zoë comes home.
12:59 pm on December 10th, 2010
Good news Melanie.
Mollypop: Fountain pens are too messy for me. I prefer felt tip but I don’t press down hard.

If Dan felt up to calling the day after surgery, he is doing really well!!!
1:19 pm on December 10th, 2010
B.Stover – is anything missing from the bean salad. It doesn’t seem like much to serve 6. Maybe I am just a pig.
Mom is bummed today. Christmas makes her anxious and discovering that she did not buy any cards after Christmas last year is really frustrating. Trying not to rain on other people’s parade is hard enough, decorating is about out of the question. I am glad she and dad went to Petsmart on Black Friday, because she has not bought so much as a candy cane for the two-leggeds. *sigh*
1:39 pm on December 10th, 2010
We’re leaving for Sam’s now. Be back later.
2:09 pm on December 10th, 2010
Macy: Nothing is missing in the recipe. Since it’s a side dish servings are real large.
2:10 pm on December 10th, 2010
Macy: That should be “servings are not real large.”
2:11 pm on December 10th, 2010
Hey y’all! I haven’t been able to write for a few days now — Mom keeps konking out early, then waking up at 4 a.m.! I don’t know if she’s still off kilter from her recent trip out west or what the problem is. Too bad she can’t nap all day like I do, then she’d be able to stay up at night!
The good news is that I’ve caught up on all the posts.
Melanie: Yippee on Dan’s surgery! I’m glad the doctors were able to get all the gunky stuff out of his lungs — that just doesn’t sound like any fun at all. I like to breathe, and I’m sure Dan does, too!
Jasper’s Mom: Yippee for you, too! I was really, really sure you’d get that job, so I’m glad you proved me right! I’m sure it’s going to be a merrier Christmas at your house!
Mom talked to Grandma last night. Grandpa is home from the hospital, and doing well. He’s still getting his appetite back. The first night they were home Grandma suggested a bowl of soup, but Grandpa said soup didn’t sound good. Then, the the next day Grandma asked what he wanted to eat, and he said soup sounded good! So Grandma’s just taking things one day at a time! She says her next purchase is a pill box so she can keep track of when he needs to take all his medications.

Oh, and in addition to all the other things that have been happening around here, my boy had a car accident the other day. The front car slammed on its brakes, and so did the car behind it, and then my boy braked but he still slid right into the back of that second car. Luckily, nobody was hurt, and the car he hit just got a scratch, but the front of his car was all scrunched up. He heard from the insurance company this morning and they’ve decided his car was totaled. He has to send the title to the insurance company — so then came a moment of pure panic while Mom tried to remember where she put the title, but then my boy suggested it might be in the lock box. And guess what? That’s exactly where it was! Wow, Mom actually put something where it should be!!! So that part is the good news!
2:39 pm on December 10th, 2010
Hey Kirby. Good news about Grandpa. Too bad about the car but at least no one was hurt. It’s good to hear from you.
2:43 pm on December 10th, 2010
Kirby!… Glad to hear grandpa is doing okay…snort!… Too bad about the car though. That’s a bummer!…grunt!

Oh man! I finally get on the computer and then Mom says she has to do some shopping for the play, since she has to work tomorrow and the play is on Sunday. I’ll be glad when this play is over! Oh, and Mom says she will be, too!
BBL!

Our home computer bombed out on us last night, right after the last time we posted. Then this morning it was back to the hospital for more “sucking out the evil”, as the doc put it, then I (Barb) came to the office. Don’t be surprised if we don’t post tonight, depends on whether the Internet is up when I get back home. Maggie will be pissed if it isn’t!
Molly, no ice yet, but you know who will keep an eye on me if it comes.
Doing well, just 2 more days of anitbiotics. Hoping to go do some Christmas shopping tomorrow, like C & B. Later….

Honey Baked Ham
Scalloped Potatoes
Broccoli w/Cheese sauce
Cottage Cheese ala Onion
Pineapple Salad
Hot Rolls
Vegetable Tray
Sparkling Wine

Ooooo Rio, Christmas Dinner sounds great – can we come? What time and what’s the dress? Wookie is concerned as to whether it is black tie or holiday festive (plaid tie) You know these fashion plates they always want to be dressed properly for the occasion!
4:16 pm on December 10th, 2010
Debbie!… I’ve been told in no uncertain terms that I will be wearing my black tie on this occasion….grump!… First she will have to catch me and if that happens she will actually have to get the bow tie on me. Doubtful that will happen…snort! …. When the camera comes out, I will be hiding where she can’t get to me…… heh!
4:25 pm on December 10th, 2010
Rio. Just in case you are wondering, the reason my mom is cooking so much food is that we have the hungriest friends in the entire world. We actually refer to them as the Hungry Heffers (compliments of Norm from the 1980’s tv comedy “Cheers”). They can and do eat anything, so she just needs to keep the food coming. Actually, she told me to tell all the Plunderes they are all invited for dinner too on Saturday, but they should come a bit early so they can get fed first (avoid the stampede). After that, we will all head to Rio’s on Christmas Day for dinner there, which sounds really yummy too. Wookie
4:31 pm on December 10th, 2010
Wookie!… Is your New Mexico Christmas dinner party extraordinaire this Saturday?….snort!… Or is it the Saturday before Christmas? … wheeze! … I don’t want to miss it, that’s for sure….heh!
4:47 pm on December 10th, 2010
Both Wookie’s and Rio’s menus sound like feasts to me!
Received an email from my brother and he is having the same breathing problems I have. (He’s had asthma for years and his granddaughter had an infection at Thanksgiving and he caught it.)
I’m thinking of watching the last two episodes of Luther but don’t know if I’m in the mood for the violence. I think I need a glass of wine.
4:59 pm on December 10th, 2010
Dawson said I had to send you this.
PS Staff never uses the sugar and she does use fresh lemon juice. She makes it the day before. Really good.
BROCCOLI SALAD
3 lg. heads broccoli
1 small onion
1 pound bacon, fried crisp and crumbled
8 oz. pkg. Mozzarella cheese
(Staff prefers sharp Cheddar)
1 c. mayonnaise
1/4 c. sugar(optional)2 tbsp.
vinegar orfresh lemon juiceMix dressing ingredients together about 2 hours in advance.
Cut broccoli flowerettes from broccoli head leaving a very short stem. Cut the flowerette in pieces if they are large.
Combine broccoli, finely cut onion, fried bacon (crumbled). Add grated cheese. Mix in dressing and chill.
5:00 pm on December 10th, 2010
serves 8-10 easily….
5:34 pm on December 10th, 2010
Stover!… You better have two or three glasses of wine. I’m just saying…..grunt!
Broccoli!… A POUND of bacon?….Wooooo!…. This sounds good to me!…snort!
5:41 pm on December 10th, 2010
Rio: one more, from what Mom calls the Church Lady Book. Easy and festive-red.
cinnamon applesauce salad
1/4 c red hots (used to be in the candy aisle. now in the cake decorating aisle)
1 c hot water
1 pkg red gelatin
1 1/2 c cold sweetened applesauce
dash of salt
candies and water cooked over medium heat until candies melt. dissolve the gelatin and salt in hot liquid and add to applesauce. refrigerate until set. serves 6-8.
Was thinking of Kirby today, wondering how the play was coming. Break a leg, Kirb…
Way to go, Jasper’s Mom.
Way to go, Dan. (and Melanie and Zoe)
Have a good weekend, Everybody.
5:43 pm on December 10th, 2010
Alice!… Does Dawson make the dressing a day ahead and add the broccoli before serving?….snort!
5:53 pm on December 10th, 2010
BluKat!….That is a very odd but interesting recipe….snort!… I bet she makes it just because she needs something red at the table…heh!
6:15 pm on December 10th, 2010
Hi All, been a long day. . .
Zoë feels that Dan is doing better than he has for a long time. YSAS suggests that might because the docs did something right, instead of right and wrong.
Dan called here earlier to tell Zoë she didn’t need to come in today. Trying to take care of us even when high on morphine and in the hospital bed.
When I mentioned that not only she was on the way in but would have told him that she was coming in no matter what!, he really liked that.
Jesse and I bought 1 tree, 3 wreaths and a box thingy with decorations in it. We locked the Pack outside, put the tree up, lights on, the three wreaths on the house and did the big colored bulbs outside on a tree.
Afte all that and everything else that I usually do, I was exhausted. Took Jesse home and noticed the outside tree’s lights are not on. My feeling? There is always tomorrow to fix it.

CLAP (the sound of high pawing with Gus and BooBear)
Welcome TYB!
B.Stover, those pens are awesome. I liked the Agatha Christie one. Wasn’t there some fuss when the Gandhi pen came out?
Kirby: Play? What play? Do you have a part?
C.Harris: I delight in a field of snowmen. Is it okay if I put some Northern Lights over them? Take care of yourself, you don’t need a nasty whatever.

Siber-H: I saw this link this morning and have been anxiously waiting to send it to you, but life got in the way. Dang life.
Anyhoo . . . There is an Anchorage International Film Festival going on right now.
Their motto: Films Worth Freezing For
snicker . . . someone has a sense of humor.
There is a documentary about the Iditarod called MUSH
Directed by Alex M. Stein
It played well in Anchorage, instead of being about the leaders, he focused on everyone else.
Wish I could see it. Well, soon the race will be start again.
Here’s the link . .

Melanie: I like the snake clip with ruby eyes on the Agatha Christie pen. I think that the Kafka pen going from square top to round bottom–representing his story Metamorphoses–is great also.
7:27 pm on December 10th, 2010
The styling on the Kafka pen is wonderful. Elegant without being showy.
Also, if you go to Friends of Chet, I put Ellie up as Eleanor Roofsevelt . . .
Eleanor Roosevelt came to this small place to give a speech about the Paper Mill here and how it was helping people to work.
It is “rumored” that she spent the night in our house.
7:27 pm on December 10th, 2010
Thank you, Melanie! We didn’t know about this movie yet. We watched the trailor for the movie on the website. The movie will be released on dvd…they always are and then I will get to see the entire movie. I will watch for its arrival in the Iditarod Store and on Amazon. (maybe next summer) Mom will buy it for me for my collection.

Rio, She makes everything the day ahead and mixes it up and puts it someplace cold (the front porch unless it is way below zero) till it is time to serve.
Oh and Staff says the onion is chopped up in small dice. (Dawson was yelling at her to get downstairs and play cards and she had to rush off) (Staff won again, Dawson is pissed)

Hey Mr Husky,
Take a look at this weather forecast. http://www.weather.gov/
(Type 55410 into the search link on the top left.)
7:51 pm on December 10th, 2010
Alice!…heh!snort!heh!… Thanks for the info on the salad details. Staff is whipping Missie Moose’s butt in cards…snort!… That is funny!…chorkel!
Storm!… There is a storm moving in from the west. We had plans tomorrow to bust Grandma out tomorrow but they might be nixed …grunt!… Oh, and when she got home tonight, she had a message on her phone that something had fallen off the wall and nailed Grandma on the arm….wheeze!… They said the skin was not broken and she did not fall or anything. They took her vitals and said they would get back to my friend, whom they thought was her mother, if anything turns bad…grunt!… How strange….sniff!
7:59 pm on December 10th, 2010
Hey Abbie: If you put in 01026 you will find that we have a slight chance of snow. That is very interesting since the snowplow has been by TWICE in the last twenty minutes.
Jeez. Weatherpeople. .
Speaking of pocket watches, guess what OTAS is getting for a present? There are definitely more than 12 in existence and it’s pewter, but he wants it for the wedding. . .
8:06 pm on December 10th, 2010
Wow!… That is a beautiful pocket watch….grunt!… My friend’s mother gave her a very old pocket watch that belonged to her dad’s dad….sniff!…Dad had gotten it after his older brother passed away. Now my friend has it….snuffle!
8:16 pm on December 10th, 2010
OOOO, Staff loves that watch. Are you going to have it engraved?
Melanie,
You call that weather??? Of course the wintery mix on Sunday looks nasty, but highs in the 30’s and 40’s. Pheh Not so much.
I just looked to see the weather in Anchorage and it isn’t bad at all. I wonder if that is anywhere near C.Harris.
They say our weather is a Siberian blast, but it looks like it is coming up from the south to me. Would that be Siberia, Iowa???
8:19 pm on December 10th, 2010
Hey Rio,
If you chopped up red peppers into little squares and put it in the broccoli salad it would look very festive. (maybe a small jar of pimento).
Just a thought.
We have been having some of that salad made with Cauliflower for the last couple of days. I think I even like that better.
8:23 pm on December 10th, 2010
Chopping!… Hey Staff, I’m not doing nuthing to help this dinner get made…grunt!…All I will do is beg, beg, beg, and beg some more with or without a bow tie…heh!
8:24 pm on December 10th, 2010
Abbie, I was just about to post that a serious storm was headed your way when I read your post and link. You are going to have serious cold air also.
Rio may have a storm, but at least it will be on a Sat.
It was 60 degrees here today. What can I say…BORING
Rio? Is your grandma okay?
That is a beautiful watch, Melanie. OTAS will love it!
8:25 pm on December 10th, 2010
Riö: I think it’s lovely that your friend has the family watch. That’s awesome.
Abbie: No, I don’t think that it’s much. We usually don’t get (real) snow until January – March. I’m just tired of the weatherpeople getting it wrong.
And then they just act like that forecast never happened, so they were never wrong.
Oh, and yes, I’m getting it engraved on the front with a tree and their initials and somewhere inside, the date and my name, or Love, Mom. or Lovingly your Mother (he probably wouldn’t recognize that as me, snicker)
8:27 pm on December 10th, 2010
I don’t think I would want to eat anything that was chomped by Riö.
Oh, wait . . . that’s chopped. Whoops! my bad.
8:35 pm on December 10th, 2010
I think I’ve got the inside inscription. .
Hey! Turkey Lips! It’s from your Mudda!
Yeah, he’d recognize that one. I had some strange loving names for my guys.
Well, I’m off to bed. Zoë and I have a rest day tomorrow. My sis is going in to see Dan and both Zoë and I will take care of the Pack. Should be easier.
I want to see him soon, but I’m not allowed to go into the hospital right now. Dang blasted immune system.
8:37 pm on December 10th, 2010
Well, Tyb posted but that was when I was there. Nothing since, but he’s reading. He has not only his charities but was working at the store in Ellicottville also. Such a busy dog. Christmas shoppers meet and greet and meet and greet. Like Wookie.

Lots of good news and good recipes today.
B. Stover: no KMart where I am. My sister lives in Anchorage but its too far for me to visit (she has been to see me once in 5 years). However, she never can think of a gift for me so maybe I’ll tell her about the humidifier. Temp dropping all day; supposed to be -30 and -35 for the next few days but I am counting on the weatherman being wrong.

Rio: been up here some 40 years. My Dad moved the family up when I was a little girl. My sister has always lived in cities and only returned to Alaska six years ago–and lives in Alaska’s largest city. Her grown children are near. I went to college “outside” which was a real shock. Got a couple of degrees and tried to support myself as a single woman “outside” but jobs were hard to come by and didn’t pay enough. I didn’t want to have to have roommates so was interviewed over the phone and found my way back home. Lots of people up here have second homes or even retirement homes waiting for them in the states. Unlike my sister, I’ve always lived rurally so when I decide to leave the state for an easier location, I’m not sure where I’ll end up. Every place seems so crowded.
Rio: the dogs love going outside until about -40; we were out this afternoon for 15 minutes running around and playing–more them than me, of course.

C.Harris!… Forty years, whoa!…So your whole family lives in Alaska now it sounds like…snort!… That is amazing. It is really one of the most beautiful states in the country my friend says…grunt!…She was there in August one year and absolutely fell in love with what little she saw….wheeze!… I think we should all visit C.Harris in the summertime and spend time with nature!…heh!

Molly!…Was Elliecottville named after someone called “Elli Cott”…heh!… Just a rough guess…snort!

Grandma!…Siberh asked how she was doing…heh!…Well after many phone calls her mother finally found out that Grandma had somehow gotten her hand stuck in a ‘fire door’… snort!… Neither my friend or her mother can figure out for sure what this is or how it could happen…grunt!…Anyway, her mother called here and said not to try and get a hold of Grandma tonight because she was on a bus with a lot of other oldies on their way to the huge Wesleyan Church for the big Christmas blowout they put on…wheeze!… We suspect she is feeling no pain because they gave her pain meds before she left for a night of fun…snort!… Or she went because she had already paid the $5.00 and was not about to lose that. She takes great pride in winning at bingo almost all the time over the Alzheimer patients….cough!…It’s like she is getting back at the system for taking her life savings away from her each month…sniff! …I’m sure tomorrow we will get an earful of the whole ordeal true or not! …heh!

Computer is back, but who knows for how long. Weather may keep Barb in for most of the next 3 days. Snow, very cold, windy, and freezing rain. Wow, what a combo!
Melanie, Love the watch.
Rio, why don’t you add some curried goat to your menu? It goes with anything! hee

I hope your grandma has a really good time tonight.

Rio: I advise all not to come in the summer or you will be mosquito chum. I used to get sick in childhood from so many bites. Sometimes I think I spend an equal amount of time inside in the summer as I do in the winter. When I hike, I try to be on a flood plain or someplace similar where there is 1) wind and 2) few trees. Of course, that’s just me….I’m one of those people who attract mosquitos. Animals–dogs–can get bitten a lot especially their tender noses and eyelids.
Also, it is daylight all the time in the summer and tourists have a lot of trouble sleeping.

Rio — using my mom’s computer. The big dinner is tomorrow night, so I hope you have your travel bag packed and are ready to go.
Melanie — the good news just keeps coming, which is great for a change. Way to go Dan. And the pocket watch is really stunning.
With luck may be able to post a photo of the table setting tomorrow. My mom really outdid herself. We lost one guest, so we are down to a mere 25 for the sit-down dinner, plus any stray plunderers.

The food!….golly!… I will probably die when I get some of that food Debbie has made…sigh!….I’m all packed and waiting now…sniff!

MagPie!…Maybe there will be one with me at the table too!…snort!… On this occasion at this setting, I would not mind being photographed…heh!…A first! But after all, it is Wookie’s house….chorkel!… We just have to be careful that these photos of his house and of me do not end up on WikiLeaks…grunt!…Very bad for Mission Security!…snarl!

Rio and Wookie, Hopefully no one has informed Mr. Assange about the party tomorrow. Mums the word here!
Rio, we take it you are not interested in the curried goat? It is very good on toast points and partners well with cottage cheese ala onion!
Good night all!

Hey y’all! I’m finally back! Mom shopped all day and night, it seems. She had to get stuff for goodie bags for all the kids after the play. Plus, she did some Christmas shopping while she was at it. When I tried to peek in one of the bags she shooed me away, because she says that bag is off-limits to me. Maybe a present for me? Pretty please!!!
11:26 pm on December 10th, 2010
Kirby!…Please tell us about the play your gal has worked so hard on!…snort!…Tell us what the kids do an what it is about. My guess is it is a beautiful Christmas play!…snuff!…We here love those things, so does Grandma apparently…heh!

Good Night All!…yawn!…I am off to the waiting place where I will be picked up and put on the big bed tonight!…heh!..I’m sure she will agree…sniff!
