Chetspeak on Sunday
Great titles coming in for the Christmas story! Meanwhile, here’s Chetspeak. Consider this background for SCENTS AND SENSIBILITY:
I lay by the fire, watching it slowly die. I could watch fires forever. The night grew quiet, quiet as it ever gets in the Valley. I was falling asleep myself when all at once I heard the she-bark. And not just the she-bark, but the she-bark sounding closer than before, much closer. Was that just wishful thinking – an expression I’d heard Bernie use from time to time – on my part? Couldn’t tell you. It was just the way I think, that’s all. I rose, ran to the back fence and leaped over, soaring into the night.

Good morning, everyone! WE really enjoyed the Chetspeak “barkground” (heh).
WE got raw eggs on top of yummy lamb kibble. Are we lucky or what? Wowser! “Great titles coming in for the Christmas story!” High praise, indeedy.
Sorry we missed Dawson, Staff and ML last night. Hey to y’all but we spent several hours with Miss Julia (Can’t let Barb get too far ahead). Great news about Larry.
Super, sunny, special, springy Sunday to all, and to all, just keep thinking.

Oh Joy! Finally a story of the romantic evening between Chet and the She-Dog across the canyon!
Happy Egg Day! The ‘rents are wedding-bound today (no, not their wedding, Sillies).
9:03 am on April 12th, 2015
Good morning all. We enjoyed that little titillating paragraph leading up to a romantic interlude. Is that how Shooter came to be.
Great book titles yesterday.
Sorry to have missed Dawson and Staff last night, but glad to hear that Dad is adjusting to his new home. Not an easy thing to do. Been there.
Sounds like Mary Lou had a fun day yesterday. Good for you, girl. What movie did you watch?
9:09 am on April 12th, 2015
We here agree with Rio: ML had better be careful, or she may start having fun fun fun.
We think if Dawson and Staff’s dad is already beginning to adjust to his new home, it is a win win win. Saying goodbye to the old homestead will be bittersweet. But you girls need to free up your lives and have fun fun fun too.
Here is a nice story updating us on the Vicktory Dogs.

Lots of romantic interludes on this here blog. Pancho and Lefty, y’all keep chaperoning. Between she-barks and ducks and leaping and movies, this is quite egg-citing!
9:21 am on April 12th, 2015
Howlers, your Vicktory Dogs post has mom leaking water from her eyes. We are liksing the salt away and remembering our Ella Fitzgerald who crossed the bridge after battling…cancer.
9:26 am on April 12th, 2015
We cried here too, HOH. Happy tears.
9:40 am on April 12th, 2015
Good article. Best Friends is a great rescue place, and we have seen one of their reps on tv with Cherry. They do amazing work there, and never give up on anyone.
9:41 am on April 12th, 2015
HOH maintains that the nation within only wants to do as their 2 leggers want. We know not all will agree with us.
9:43 am on April 12th, 2015
My godmom Leslie spends a vacation volunteering at Best Friends every year. Isn’t she wonderful?
9:49 am on April 12th, 2015
That last sentence from Sense and Sensibility has My Heart Leaping too.
Ah, those were the days. {{{sigh}}}
O’Howlers: Nice tear-jerker to start the day.
Good Morning Everyone.
9:53 am on April 12th, 2015
Good morning Chet and all.
9:58 am on April 12th, 2015
Good Grief! I spelled Scents Wrong! This is NOT a good way to start the day.
Where’s my egg…….
10:09 am on April 12th, 2015
BSD, NEVER take the blame, dole it out to the corking otter!
10:38 am on April 12th, 2015
Hounds: Why, of course. You Are Right…it was that Dam Otter.
11:35 am on April 12th, 2015
Except the last sentence isn’t from Scents and Sensibility….
11:48 am on April 12th, 2015
Of course not it is the Corking otter again. To be everywhere today.
11:58 am on April 12th, 2015
Another cleaning day today. We are thinking about cleaning out the freezer and the refrigerator also. Grump. Cleaning is not my favorite activity. BBML
11:59 am on April 12th, 2015
Just put down 2 bags of mulch and weeded the front bed. Now time to relax for a bit. Miss Julia is calling.
12:05 pm on April 12th, 2015
Cleaning is not high on my list either, Staff. The darling Polish girl, who struggles with her English, may be getting a call from me in the near future. She cleaned for the first time for Josh and Jess on Friday, and Jessica said her house has never been so clean. I think $60.00 once a month for our place would be worth it. It costs $35.00 per week to have the grass cut, and I do that myself, so look at all the money I am saving!
12:25 pm on April 12th, 2015
BML: By our calculations you are saving $140 on mowing to spend the $60 a month on cleaning with money left over. Way to go!
B: The last sentence…not from Scents and Sensibility?…but it’s a favorite. sob.
12:28 pm on April 12th, 2015
Cleaning! Soon to Be Happening Here too. I am told Nana’s sister from Montana will be winging her way West on Wednesday.
The Cluttered Garage will be the First Project on their 2Do List.
12:54 pm on April 12th, 2015
I remember that paragraph from Dog On It, and soon we will see!
To those visiting with Miss Julia……how how that lady can get into trouble, huh? I would adore to be sitting at her kitchen table with her. As for Ann B. Ross, I think she owes me! And I hope she pays off my good intentions with more more visits with Miss Julia. First book was published in 1999 and still going strong. I know Chet and OFA can match this, right?
12:56 pm on April 12th, 2015
Masquers: In that case, it’s a favorite sentence from Dog On It.
1:05 pm on April 12th, 2015
I will have to ask the SIL who lives in N.C. if she has read Miss Julia. Now up to Ch. 17, HOH. Time for a wee nap. Life is good!
1:08 pm on April 12th, 2015
Good day all.
Now that Bernie realizes that Chet can jump the back fence and has seen the results of said fence-jumping (the pup), I predict a visit to the v-e-t is in Chet’s future. Afterall, Bernie will want to be a responsible pet owner–and it should make for a great story told from Chet’s point of view of being snipped.
I decided no more adoption clinics for Mr. Big. I will continue to foster him but people will need to come to the house to meet him. Unfortunately, he is not getting any calls from his description on the website. It is too stressful for him and me both to go to a clinic. Two other big cats (18 pounds and 22 pounds) got all the attention as they were super friendly and Mr. Big was hunkered down and unhappy. The 18 pounder got adopted and I wouldn’t be surprised if the 22 pounder gets adopted today. I have one other cat at the clinic: Blossom who was adopted in mid-January and returned to me a couple of weeks ago. She was the petite gray tuxedo who had six beautiful kittens. The ideal adoptior seems to be single ladies “of a certain age” who have a calm household and lots of time for petting and playing.
1:17 pm on April 12th, 2015
Good to Hear Mr. Big is still patrolling the halls of the Hobbit House.
1:24 pm on April 12th, 2015
Mom spent 2 hours cleaning the “herb” garden this AM and now has sore muscles she didn’t know she had, but is she done? Oh no, not our dingbat mom. She went for an Italian lunch and now is climbing back into garden clothes…wait, Blondie is missing…BBL
2:07 pm on April 12th, 2015
On TNT right now is the movie A Time To Kill with Matthew McConaughey (excellent movie if any haven’t seen it). For those who read the Andy Carpenter series, the character played by Matthew is exactly how I picture Andy Carpenter to look and sound like!
3:01 pm on April 12th, 2015
BooBear: Rats! Andy Carpenter. We Missed It!
3:10 pm on April 12th, 2015
Bear, A Time to Kill is a John Grisham book. Boo was saying that is how she pictures Andy Carpenter. We picture Andy as a guy not quite as buff. Maybe a slightly overweight, out of shape McConaughey.
3:11 pm on April 12th, 2015
And he needs a little bit of a Jersey accent.
3:19 pm on April 12th, 2015
At the Italian Restaurant for lunch today a guy gave mom a card and said, “You moved here fron New Jersey, didn’t you? I can spot the accent every time.” Yes, he IS a car sales man. Really “hated” to burst his bubble but mom is good at accents so she ain’t as dmb as she looks. She thanked him and gave him the M B Dealership card back.
Now to the important stuff. Blondie dug out while mom was gone…Thank dog she comes home after a “walkabout”. We found the corner and have “Blondie Proofed” it. Her chip is being activated in the AM. What a dog!
4:15 pm on April 12th, 2015
Barb,Magpie,Lucy: A Time to Kill by John Grisham…we knew that…don’t know why we jumped to that false conclusion. The Juxtaposition probably occurred because of a strong desire to see a Andy Carpenter Movie.
Good to find out we Did Not Miss it…a Movie that Never Was.
Blondie: Rehearsing for that New Chet & Bernie Movie are you?
4:23 pm on April 12th, 2015
(BSD- Blondie here, they think I am not really smart but who could be smarter? I get out and I come home. Good girl!) Um, Hm Blondie is learning to be good.
4:31 pm on April 12th, 2015
Blondie: Some of us Agree…Walk-a-bouts are the Thing to Do.
4:57 pm on April 12th, 2015
BSD, could handle the part but don’t think I have all the necessary bits.
5:15 pm on April 12th, 2015
Insurance!….I sent Spencer my one good title I came up with yesterday…snort!…He never mentioned emailing the titles in to him, but it can’t hurt, right?…chuffle!…Meanwhile Baseball is on!On!ON!…wheeze!
5:17 pm on April 12th, 2015
Line!…That last line from Dog On It really had my friend’s Paw chorkeling over Chet…heh!heh!
5:56 pm on April 12th, 2015
Oh my dog, ae we having fun with titles? Hope so.
6:09 pm on April 12th, 2015
DOG:
Don’t want to be dogmatic about the doggeral that will go to the dogs or maybe the dogfish on the dogeared page which is a dogged dogmatic dogmatism or some silly doggedly doggeral held in a doggie bad that some dogtired dogma put in the dogmatic dogwood dogfish that will do to the dogs.
(got a couple of others but afraid we will go too dogged far!)
Think we will lie down and rest our doggie bag dogging brains!
6:12 pm on April 12th, 2015
Oh lard our aching DOGS! (could’t resist that one).
6:29 pm on April 12th, 2015
Guess we might be in the doghouse for some of this doggeral, but we are dogtired of the dogma so are taking our doggie bag and are dog gone.
6:48 pm on April 12th, 2015
HOH – we won’t hound you about the bad puns, but you might want to put a muzzle on any more tails.
(but then they would be on the wrong end)
6:57 pm on April 12th, 2015
🙂
7:10 pm on April 12th, 2015
Rio, I’m watching the game. Oh groan.

7:50 pm on April 12th, 2015
HOH, WTF! Stop it NOW!
8:29 pm on April 12th, 2015
Rio, Yeah, I didn’t like the fact they traded Dexter either. I like your attitude about the Rockies loss today.
Barb, lol
8:33 pm on April 12th, 2015
Barb, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot are you sure?
8:36 pm on April 12th, 2015
We are stoped. 🙁
8:44 pm on April 12th, 2015
OOps, StoPPed.
8:49 pm on April 12th, 2015
HOH, Thank Dog!
9:11 pm on April 12th, 2015
Oh, Dog. It’s serious…Barb is starting to use Curse Words.
9:13 pm on April 12th, 2015
and the HOH has run amok.
9:15 pm on April 12th, 2015
WE may be amok but are y’all sure about Barb?
9:32 pm on April 12th, 2015
Mayhaps we should go to nighty night since our sents and sensibilities are out of kilter. OK? nighty night.
9:46 pm on April 12th, 2015
See y’all in the AM.
9:47 pm on April 12th, 2015
Good!…Night and good riddance!…grunt!…Thanks Barb, for showing some common scents and sensibility…grunt!
9:49 pm on April 12th, 2015
Rio, pfffffft!
9:49 pm on April 12th, 2015
Grrrrr!…..ROWL!….That nonsense bullsh*t on this here blog makes me so mad I could Spit! and Kick!…grump!
9:50 pm on April 12th, 2015
Go!…To Hell!…grunt!
10:48 pm on April 12th, 2015
Oh Rio Rio, Please calm down. Think of cats and you will feel better soon.
Yawn
11:08 pm on April 12th, 2015
Om my, night all.
11:21 pm on April 12th, 2015
We have vision of Rio turning unflattering colors, puffing his cheeks up like a blowfish, and yeeping in circles.
We are sure that thinking of Alice, TC, BlueKat, BooBear, Henry, Keiko, Abbie, Basil and Sage will calm him right down.
Uh huh.
11:29 pm on April 12th, 2015
If they don’t, Masquers will have to step up. I wonder if Mr. Big could help?
11:36 pm on April 12th, 2015
Oops. Sorry Masquers, and Mr. Big. We know Rio loves the kitties at the Hobbit Hotel.
