Chetspeak on Sunday
“Chet – let’s get a move on, buddy.”
Chet? That was me, and getting a move on was my kind of thing. Plus here at K-9 School they were big fans of me coming when my name was called – pretty soon after, in fact, if you wanted a treat. Which I always did. But at this particular moment, I had just lifted my leg, and once started in on something like that, there’s really no stopping till it’s over, as you probably know. I’m not referring to the brief leg lift for marking purposes, over and done with in a flash. This was the other kind, much longer lasting, and often a peaceful break in the day, where the mind can wander in a pleasant sort of –
“Chet!”
– from A CAT WAS INVOLVED, the first Chet and Bernie e-short story (99 cents!).

Good morning, everyone! We are LOL at the Chetspeak 🙂 Is today a double Egg Day? Sounds good to us. We have so many Plunderers in our thoughts and pawrayers today.
Have a lovely Easter or Passover or day. You choose.
8:12 am on April 5th, 2015
Good morning, and Happy Egg Day, be they painted or just plain tasty.
Chet, I love that nice, long-lasting, peesful break in the day. Heh! Heh!
I would like to send special hugs to the Drew sisters. Mom told me that sometimes the way daughters (and nieces) show love is to do something which does not feel like love at that moment. She says those hard decisions are what purely selfless love is all about. You girls are the best.
8:26 am on April 5th, 2015
Good morning all. So many things special about today. Happy Easter, Passover and Egg Day Sunday.
Barb is getting ready to meet Kelly’s group for Easter Brunch at 10:00, then later in the day she will be going to Josh’s home. They will be working in the garden and having a cookout. Fun day all around.
We agree with Zeus about the Drew sisters. The right decisions are not always easy ones.
8:30 am on April 5th, 2015
B&M&L, Amen. What you said is very pawrayer like.
8:31 am on April 5th, 2015
And Zeus too. A profound puppy thought.
8:48 am on April 5th, 2015
Love that Chet.
Dear Drew Sisters: I was in your position seven years ago. Blessings to your family.
Have an wonderful day filled with eggs, everybody!
9:08 am on April 5th, 2015
B’sB never enough eggs! We love ’em.
9:08 am on April 5th, 2015
Hello again–I gave my Easter/Passover greetings earlier today on yesterday’s blog, but hey–why not repeat them!
Bright blessings, one and all.
9:21 am on April 5th, 2015
DianeC. with group, repetition can’t hurt, oh no it cannot!
9:22 am on April 5th, 2015
Diane, We read your blessings on yesterday’s blog. How do you type in another alphabet? And did that say Happy Passover?
9:24 am on April 5th, 2015
Inquiring minds want to know, too. (But we will probably forget)
10:02 am on April 5th, 2015
Chet, you’re making me laugh!
Wolf Hall begins tonight on Masterpiece Theater. It’s based on Hilary Mantel’s novels.
Good morning all.
11:25 am on April 5th, 2015
Good morning all.
Whatever your faith or spirituality, may you have a day of love, blessings and peace.
And Peeps. Lots and lots of Peeps.
12:57 pm on April 5th, 2015
Luna has spent the week cleaning behind everyone’s ears in preparation of Beau’s Easter sermon. Presentation and effort matter, so says she.
Happy Easter!
1:28 pm on April 5th, 2015
Happy Big Egg Day to everyone. I started the day shoveling 2″ of fresh snow! And here I thought I was being a lazy bum for not putting away my snow shovels.
HOH had sent me a text saying that I would be expecting snow so I checked my weather app that showed nothing (rain and snow showers expectedNEXT Wed and Thurs). The television weather showed a nice Easter. So the egg is on me and I need to know what weather app the HOH uses. Even the newspaper gardening expert said last week that spring was truly here and winter was truly over. Hah!
No easter dinner for me. My sister is out of state and my nephew and his family I think forget that I live in town or maybe they assume that I have my own group of friends. So have an extra serving for me. I did buy a sweet potato to bake later as a treat.
1:35 pm on April 5th, 2015
Someone on Facebook mentioned a peep cake. (I learned what peeps are on this blog a year or so ago.) It sounds absolutely awful to me.
1:45 pm on April 5th, 2015
Easter and Passover Blessings to all.
Chetspeak is funny, as usual. I know people with the same attention span as Chet’s.
Buddy, I am so glad Melanie is home now.
Dawson and Staff, I know what you are going through. I have done two houses now and my dad had to go into assisted living because of dementia. It is so hard on everyone, but he did adjust.
1:46 pm on April 5th, 2015
I don’t like Peeps…gah
1:56 pm on April 5th, 2015
A lovely holiday to all! Zoe, older son, younger son, and pregnant daughter joined me at church, and then we had a lovely brunch here afterwards. It is the end of an era here. I have done Easter egg hunts for my kids for 29 years! I always joked that I would do them until I became a grandmother. I officially retired after today. My sons high-fived each other and yelled, “The uncles have it now!”
2:20 pm on April 5th, 2015
Martha, GOOD JOB! and yes, time to pass the torch.
CHobbit, stick with the apple app…is what we do.
We did Mexican for our big meal and we (the 4 leggers) love the variety…shrimp, beef, pineapple and pork.
HRH B Peeps are disgusting but they are traditional 🙁
Oh, and “Yeah” to the uncles!
2:28 pm on April 5th, 2015
Peeps are NOT disgusting. They are nothing more to than molded marshmallows.
Ok, ok, so we don’t eat them. Waaaayyy too much sugar. But they are cute.
Microwave them, put them on a graham cracker with a square of a Hershey bar and you have a Peep S’more
2:31 pm on April 5th, 2015
Martha – so sorry we missed seeing older son and the “blooming” daughter.
Are you SURE you want the uncles to take over Easter Egg hunts? We think we might be just a tad afraid to hunt for what those two might have hidden.
2:43 pm on April 5th, 2015
I can’t wait! I do know they will be different…
I don’t believe that we have eaten peeps for years, but we do enjoy microwaving them and watching them grow huge.
2:43 pm on April 5th, 2015
Peeps–On Facebook there was also a picture of a dress made of different colored Peeps…a sundress with straps. I think people are getting carried away.
3:17 pm on April 5th, 2015
Bee – that is the whole fun of Peeps. Kind of like the frenzy to create things of duct tape or legos. We certainly would not recommend a steady diet of them.
3:41 pm on April 5th, 2015
Peeps are made of “angel poop” in our opinion. Glad someone has found a use for them.

This will get you there directly. This may be the first time I have added (successfully) a link in my message.
5:12 pm on April 5th, 2015
Martha, good for you, but did it have to be a peep?
5:35 pm on April 5th, 2015
Martha – those are too funny. And they even suggested the Peep S’mores!
6:14 pm on April 5th, 2015
Okay, we are outvoted on the Peep issue. Mom doesn’t like “angel poop” so she really can’t stand peeps. Also the orange peanut marshmallow candies gross her out! Those are only good when stale. Mmmmmm, must be a candy issue.
7:45 pm on April 5th, 2015
I will add my vote. I would not, could not, eat a Peep. Gross!
Had a delicious brunch with all the fancy stuff. I have a rule that I never eat anything at a brunch that I can make at home. Then had the First Annual Gourmet Hamburger Bar at Josh’s. Burgers with every imaginable topping, and home made potato chips. It was a fun change of pace from the usual ham dinner.

Easter!…Hear Ye! Hear Ye!…snort!
How!… then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the Paws of those who bring good news!” …snorkel!
Beau’s Easter Day Sermon coming up! …snort!
7:53 pm on April 5th, 2015
Cough!Ahems!….Today, after being up all nights writing a very special sermon for dis here blog….sneeze!…which I finished in da wee hours of da night or morning as it were to be….snuffle!…Here it is in fullness….sniff!
Do not be afraid. All things are possible with God….Amens!
I have a bit more if youse want to continue….sneeze!
Youse see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for da ungodly, which is all of us. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in dis: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. An den he rose again on da third day, which is today an what we calls Easter….snort!….He is Risen and we are all Beholden to him if indeed we do believe in his sacrifice for our sins, which in my case are many….sniff! sob!sob!… Glory be to da Lord today for he is Risen and he has died for many sins….sneeze!
Hallelujae! Hallelujae! Amens!!…Happy Easter to everybody!…chuffle!
8:00 pm on April 5th, 2015
Amen. Beau, thank you for the Easter sermon. Luna says we had to stay clean behind our ears until we heard your sermon.
Beau have sins? We don’t believe it.
8:15 pm on April 5th, 2015
History!….I’m sure MollysMaw will soon come to the point in history where Beau was dropped off here and left behind with all his designer stuff…heh!heh!…She can remind everyone how really bad Beau was for a long time…grunt!…That is till I taught him he would get more stuff and treaties if he behaved and did not get caught doing some stuff – like biting…snort!
8:28 pm on April 5th, 2015
Interesting Easter Day here. The Boarder in the Basement gave mom an Easter Lily AND cooked a dinner of grilled steak for the men and chicken for the lady. He also did roasted and seasoned sweet potatoes. All in all a nice day off 🙂
Hallelu to Beau.
Clean ears to Thieves.
Good family day to Barb.
And CHobbit, we are with you in spirit, even if the family ain’t!
8:35 pm on April 5th, 2015
Beau, Amen and Thank You.
9:00 pm on April 5th, 2015
A beautiful sermon, Beau. It made me wipe away a few little tears. And Rio’s intoduction was very gracious and heartful, too. Thank you so much, Pugs!
9:28 pm on April 5th, 2015
Amen to Rio and Beau.
Got home from an adoption clinic. Mr. Big wasn’t adopted but two other cats were. I also had a family return a mama cat to me last week that was adopted 6 weeks ago. The cat liked the woman and her girlfriends but was scared of the husband and toddler so a bad fit.
I think I will put away my worries and read tonight. Blessings to all.
9:34 pm on April 5th, 2015
And to our favorite Hobbit, Good night.
9:37 pm on April 5th, 2015
Hello All–I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend–I certainly have which is why I’m getting to this late.
Barb, Maggie and Lucy–There IS a way to get your keyboard to type in another alphabet (I remember getting the instructions in Greek, and ignoring them) but what I’ve been doing works only for short entries to be translated, and I use Translate Google. I type in what I want to say in English, then indicate the language into which I want to translate. Sometimes it isn’t entirely accurate–if you know two languages and want to translate into a third that isn’t comfortable, translate English into that, then paste the translation in and ask it to be translated into your second-best lg. (TMI, right?)
That was Happy Holidays in Yiddish (which is more like a German dialect than anything else, but written with the Hebrew alphabet.
9:42 pm on April 5th, 2015
CHobbit!…We here love youse and that nephew of yours is a nitwit…grunt!…Seriously A Nitwit. …sniff!
9:46 pm on April 5th, 2015
Tupper’s Mama–I just don’t get the Peeps thing–I have a library friend who also loves them. But this DOES give me a chance to remind everyone about the Peeps diorama contest. I am pasting in a link AND a copy of my personal favorite of all time.

9:54 pm on April 5th, 2015
NO MORE PEEPS, Gah, we hate ’em NO MORE PEEPS.
10:02 pm on April 5th, 2015
Martha–Good on the uncles! A sign you did your job well.
Beau–Thank you for a most beautiful and moving sermon. Amen.
HOH–I did brunch (more breakfast, actually) at my church/temple where the entree is ALWAYS (except last year when we lost electricity and had to substitute last-minute scrambled eggs) chile relleno casserole plus a huge variety of potluck items–many Indian (because many Indians in the congregation). Why am I going into so much detail? Because as your experience and mine today demonstrate: “You can’t go wrong with Mexican”
One more Peeps link with an excellent Julius Caesar, and a kind of dubious Last Supper:

Time to go see what’s On TV. Have a great week, dear blog family.
10:19 pm on April 5th, 2015
Diane!…snort!…That is my friends motto, “You can’t go wrong with Mexican”…heheh!…If everyone on this here blog comes over here after the Wyoming sled_dog race, I’m sure my friend will be making Mexican food for all…snorkel!….Wait! I really have not let her know about this whole thing yet, so any promises made are made to be broken…gah!

Beau: Where does trying to check your Friend’s pockets for holes by way of greeting fall on the sin spectrum? I’m, er, asking for a friend.
10:32 pm on April 5th, 2015
Left!..Thou Shall Not Steal….sneeze!…It has been written in stone pal…gruntle!
10:48 pm on April 5th, 2015
Friend: If you willingly give me the contents of your pockets next time we meet, it will help me stay on the right side of sin. Thank you in advance.
10:52 pm on April 5th, 2015
Thieves!…snort!…Now I have heard everything…chorkel!
