Chetspeak on Sunday
“Right,” Suzie said. “But the leash is non-negotiable.” She popped open the glove box and took out the leash she’d kept just for me back when she was still in the Valley. I was kind of surprised to see it was still there, also not that happy about it. Suzie smiled and gave me a quick scratch between the ears, not hard enough but blissful just the same. “Come on, Chet. I know you can do it.”
We got out of the car. Suzie came forward with the leash. Of course I could do it! And not only that, I could do it like you’ve never seen.
“Chet?”
Yes, that was me, pure and simple. At the moment I appeared to be I wriggling around the parking lot on my back, just one of my tricks, and one that happened to scratch all the itches Suzie hadn’t taken care of.

Kat!…Wow!…What a great drawing of yourself!! ….wheeze!…That would be a great Auction Item – not your drawing per say, but the opportunity to bid on a chance to have that artist draw one of us!…heh!heh!
1:03 pm on October 26th, 2014
Ooops!…I guess they hit the 3505 mark about 47 minutes ago. I forgot to refresh the Five Buck Truck page….heh!heh!

Our Giant and our Lady had a disappointing, frustrating, fruitless day at the dealer. Earlier in the week, they were told a certain price for a new truck. They drove into town yesterday to purchase said truck only to have the dealer not honor that price. Three hours and being on the receiving end of lies despite our paperwork later the Giant and our Lady walked away. The search continued with nothing to show for it.
They arrived home late list night only to be surprised by the growth of the Five Buck Truck fund! Yeep! Thanks to all youse and many others! Sniff!
We have been instructed by our Lady that we are not to steal any trucks for the team. However, when we do finally add the four-wheel member to our team, we plan on riding in it like we stole it.

It would be funny if the Plunderers going north this spring would visit the dealer, acting like we were gungho for a purchase, and then walk out on him.
1:40 pm on October 26th, 2014
adding on our way out the door that we had heard around town he cannot be trusted to keep his word.
1:43 pm on October 26th, 2014
A certain car dealership needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau and maybe even mentioned on social media.
Remember the frustration I had with the “crew” who sealed my crawlspace and attic? I noticed last week that my fiberglass step ladder, industrial broom and oversized aluminum dustpan were missing from my garage. I called the company to see if they had taken them in error at the end of the day. I was called the next day and told that they had found the ladder. They apologized and said they would return it. On Friday I called and said I needed my ladder because I was painting an apartment this weekend. I did not get the ladder back. So at 5′ tall, I have painted 6′ of the walls and the final 2′ will have to wait. More frustration. I priced getting another ladder but I don’t need two ladders, I just need one.

Sounds like there are a lot (at least 2) disreputable businesses Way Up North. If you post their names, I will see to it that Mommy posts about them on facebookie.
2:07 pm on October 26th, 2014
C.Hobbit: Sounds like a Perp to me.
Good Grief! Didn’t they have their own equipment? It is unforgivable that they are not returning your equipment. Our question to them is: Why did they take it in the first place.
2:09 pm on October 26th, 2014
TC and I will report these businesses to the Alaskan Dispatch News.

Thieves–Ten thousand curses on deceitful dealers (and may the new truck come quickly from an honest businessperson).
How is Gramp doing today? Was he able to have a peaceful night’s sleep (or significant fraction of same)?
Too many papers to read, stuff to deliver for Animal Assistance fund-raiser, library stuff to continue, still no rain, etc.
For all those who had eggs (or didn’t) a Happy Sunday. I’ll catch up witchyall later…

Wowzer! Do youse realize How Close Snowhook is to their Goal?
2:41 pm on October 26th, 2014
Wose, I looked in my check register and I wrote your check for the calendar on 10/15. Not sure if I mailed it that day or the next, but still you should have it.
Where is Wose today?
That is too bad about the truck deal. Most businesses cannot survive long without a good reputation.
3:02 pm on October 26th, 2014
Ooooo – who’s a naughty truck dealer? We agree – said dealer should be reported, along with the ladder thieves who have inconvenienced our Hobbit!
Mama feels her Pink Bulldozer persona calling to her….
Gramp did much better sleeping last night. And for all the surgery he had, he has incredibly little pain. He is still needing a strong reminder to put his butt down and his foot up, every now and then, but all in all he is being pretty good.
Tomorrow is result day from the oncologist for brother. We will hear what the PET scan showed, and what the future holds for all of us.
3:40 pm on October 26th, 2014
Death Comes to Pemberley is on Masterpiece Mystery tonight. It’s the first of two episodes and is based on the P.D. James novel of the same title which I did not read. And, yes, it’s Jane Austen’s Pemberley and characters from Pride and Prejudice. I don’t know if I’m going to like it.
3:42 pm on October 26th, 2014
Tupper, we thought your Grampy had just one toe straightened. Did they have to do more than that?
He should take advantage and let everyone wait on him. Maybe he could even have a little bell to ring when he wants service.
Barb says it is time to a little walkie.
Our neighbors didn’t pay their electric bill last week. Barb went over to let the dog Fred out for them because the wife went out of town for 3 days and the husband wasn’t home from work yet. She couldn’t get into the garage with the electric door opener. So guess what? Their electric got shut off. He phoned in a payment on Friday but the electric will not be turned back on till tomorrow. He tried to hook up a generator in the driveway this afternoon, but it was making too much noise, so he asked Barb if he could plug into our electric. Barb thought it would be for their refrigerator, which hasn’t been on since Friday. But NOOOO, it was so he could watch the Bear’s game on a big screen t v in his garage!
3:43 pm on October 26th, 2014
I love Chet Speak Sunday. I remembered Suzie getting the leash out but not Chet rolling on the ground scratching his itches.
The 5 buck truck gofundme site keeps rolling along!
Glad Gramps had a decent night and tomorrow at least you will know what is going with your brother and you can make plans.
3:51 pm on October 26th, 2014
B,M,&L, why didn’t they pay their bill, and how does that entitle them to freeload off you. Grrrrrr
3:54 pm on October 26th, 2014
Watching the truck fund grow is almost as exciting as watching the Last Great Race!
4:03 pm on October 26th, 2014
Barb – Gramp had a gigunda bunion removed, plus they straightened the big toe and its neighbor toe, and did something to the third toe.
He just asked Mama to check the wires that come out – NO!!! She told him that if he wanted to have dinner cooked and served, and everything else in the house done, he needed to keep his big old toes and wires to himself!
Bee – we do like PD James, but never read Jane Austen. Wonder if that would make us like the movie more, or less.
We have been watching “Pie in the Sky” on Acorn. Nice, not bloody murder mysteries. But oh, how we wish there were more Midsomer Murder episodes.
4:16 pm on October 26th, 2014
Wired!….There are wires sticking out of Gramps toes?…gasp!…Even I would not look at that!…wheeze!
4:19 pm on October 26th, 2014

Tupper and Gilly: The next series of Midsomer Murders (set 25) comes out February 24, 2015, according to Amazon.
4:30 pm on October 26th, 2014
Tupper and Gilly: And you should read Jane Austen!!!!!
4:35 pm on October 26th, 2014
We love chili, but you guessed it, we like it mild and boring.
Howlers, when Barb called her to say the electric was off her reaction was “Dam, we never even go a shut-off notice yet!” What a way to live. Barb was always taught that you didn’t play till your obligations were taken care of. Not these guys – he rents land to go hunting on every weekend, but the bills come second evidently. Gah!
4:38 pm on October 26th, 2014
Bee – Why?
That is a serious question. We have read many of the early English authors, including the Bronte’s, Dickins, Kipling, Wilkie Collins, etc. Why Austin?
4:41 pm on October 26th, 2014
Two Wrotten Kats we all know take it to the Next Level…the 5 Buck Truck that is.
4:45 pm on October 26th, 2014
3700!…And still trucking!…WOOOOOO!….Kats with evil plans are very useful to this fund drive…heh!heh!
4:47 pm on October 26th, 2014
Oh, T&G! We here love Jane Austen! Mom can read the same books over and over. When she used to listen to books on tape on her long commute, she almost always chose an Austen. She likes any movie based on one of her stories too. sigh. She is a romantic, pure and simple.
4:49 pm on October 26th, 2014
Andy!…I really like that Andy Holleman guy…snort!…He is a big fan of AJ and The Team!….Wooooo!
5:02 pm on October 26th, 2014
Stover!…Are you still sticking with “How To Get Away With Murder”?…snort!…We are watching the latest episode right now. The main actress, can’t remember her name right now, is so good. She does heart-ache misery to the ultimate max!…groggle!
5:03 pm on October 26th, 2014
Bunions! Mom had that surgery on both feet, not at the same time. That is major, and the swelling lasts really long. They don’t cut a bunion out. They have to break the metatarsal bone! It is a Big Deal. Poor Gramp.
5:06 pm on October 26th, 2014
Mathematical!…Snowhook only needs 1300.00 in donations to reach the 5000 mark!…snort!…I know if more of their facebookie pals show up it will be a cinch!…Woooo!
5:07 pm on October 26th, 2014
Howlers!…..YEEEEE-OUCH!…gasp!…Poor Gramps…sob!sob!…I just want to sit on his lap and lick his arms…sniffle!
5:25 pm on October 26th, 2014
Basil and Sage: Austen is wickedly funny! My favorite Austen novel is Emma followed by Sense and Sensibility. Pride and Prejudice is very good also. (I used to teach it. The movie with Colin Firth is excellent. The movie of S and S with Emma Thompson is also good.)
Rio: I’ve watched the first two (or perhaps the first three) episodes of How To Get Away With Murder. It’s very good. The young man whose name I can’t remember, played Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter movies. I really like him.
5:32 pm on October 26th, 2014
Yeeep!! oh, wait a minute, we mean “Puuuuurrrrrrrrrr”
Truck fund is now at 3800!
5:38 pm on October 26th, 2014
“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife” (Pride and Prejudice). Who could resist that first line? The social satire is excellent! Everything about 19th-Century manners and mores and the inequality of the female is revealed in twenty-three words.
5:41 pm on October 26th, 2014
Bee, we agree 100%!
We even like the modern movie Emma, which is a modern take on Sense and Sensibility.
5:49 pm on October 26th, 2014
Oops. We meant the movie Clueless, not Emma.
6:03 pm on October 26th, 2014
3850!…As of 4 minutes ago!…Yeeeep!

Rio, Dean Thomas is one of the Hogwart’s students that is in the same year as Harry and in the same house. When the Minisrty of Magic casts aspersions on Harry, his mum questions whether or Dean should return to school and be exposed to Potter.
6:15 pm on October 26th, 2014
Wose, thank you, we were starting to worry that you were not going to get it.
Glad to hear from you, you have been MIA today.
6:21 pm on October 26th, 2014
Rio: The actor who played Dean Thomas is the one who received that prize statue. I just looked it up and his name is Alfred Enoch and he plays Wes Gibbins.

6:28 pm on October 26th, 2014
Wose – have you tried rebooting your modem?
6:29 pm on October 26th, 2014
Stover!…As I was reading your post they were advertising Alfred Enoch being on Jimmy Kimmel…snort!…I turned around and did not catch his face…heh!…But now I know he is the young black actor in the show….chuffle!…Yes, he is doing a great job so far! But I fear he is in deep with the actual murder that I cannot figure out yet…guffle!…I do not remember him from Harry Potter for some reason…hmmm.
6:59 pm on October 26th, 2014
Wose, your carrier needs to reset your modem.
6:59 pm on October 26th, 2014
Rio: He’s in all of the Potter movies. He’s the one who knows that it is a boggart hidden in the chest in the third movie. He says, “That’s a boggart that is.”

By the way, I’ve fallen in love with Sykes, Barnaby’s dog on Midsomer Murders with Neil Dudgeon as Barnaby.
7:41 pm on October 26th, 2014
Rio, J.K. Rowling insisted on only British actos for the Potter movies.
