Chetspeak on Sunday

Bernie had a burger and another bourbon; steak tips and water for me. His face returned to normal. Whew. Bernie worried about the aquifer a lot and sometimes when he got going couldn’t stop. All our water came from the aquifer – I’d heard him say that over and over, although I’d never laid eyes on this aquifer, whatever it was. I didn’t get it at all: there was plenty of water in the Valley – how else to explain all that spraying on the golf courses, morning and evening, and those beautiful little rainbows the sprinklers made? We had water out the yingyang. I got up and pressed my head against Bernie’s leg. He did some light scratching in that space between my eyes, impossible for me to get to. Ah, bliss. I spotted a French fry under the stool next to Bernie’s and snapped it up.

Good morning, every one! Chetspeak, Egg Day, Sunday…life is great, tip top in fact! A.J. Thanks for the trail story (not really a story, true) about Rori and Younger. Know they check on us before crossing the bridge 🙂 Here’s to 2015 Iditarod!
    Have a sensational, summer Sunday.

Greetings, and early Good Morning to HOH!

    Happy Egg Day, too.

Zeusikov, That was a very fine picture of you and your pop. You are quite the looker.

AJ, I know of what you speak. I had a similar experience when my cat, Kelly died. sniff. You have such wonderful experiences to relate. Maybe I speak for myself, but I think you should write a book about them. I would be the first in line to buy the book!

Tomorrow is my last day at summer camp! I think being there did me some good.
Then, Tuesday off to Plunderfest, Vermont!!!

ML: Excellent news about your sale! You go, girl! Hugs and kisses at you.

Royals, Your display area was beautiful, and I did see the Storyteller in the picture. Grizz has asked after his health, and my response was that the Storyteller looks 30 years younger, and way handsome.

Old Timer’s Day at Yankee Stadium today.
Next year the beloved Derek Jeter will be there.

    Good day to all!

Sensational Summer Sunday! Hounds, We’ll take it!

AJ’s Tail on the Trail…not something we will soon forget.
There may have been a sniffle or two while following the team on their journey in the late night hours.
Wose is right…you should write a book.

B: We love that scene too.

Good morning and Happy Egg Day everyone. Thank you for the Chetspeak Spence. We like that scene, too.

What a beautiful story from A J last night. Made us just a little teary.

Rose, glad the Summer Camp has helped. Hope you enjoyed it.

No rain on the schedule for today, but, boy, did we get a lot last night. No storm damage around here but there was a lot closer in to the city.

Today Barb is heading in to one of those area to a Forest Preserve park. One of our family friends is having a combined graduation party for their son and two other people. The weather should be pretty nice this afternoon, sunny and around 80.

Good morning. Happy Egg Day. We here love that scene, but we do not understand about an aquifer. Chet’s the smartest guy in the place.
AJ’s story brought tears here. We don’t have any trouble believing that’AJ. My own Moonman came back to visit me me me. And why not.
I am told that Kat and I are going to a partay today. We are leaving the Z-Man home. Lately, he’s been getting all the fun.
I accompanied Mom and Annie on a trail ride this morning. They say I relax them. And why not. See how I follow along, protecting their flank?

Hello All–Great photos of Zeus (yesterday–handsome) and Meashka (always good to maintain a safe distance while guarding the flank in case of a wild hoof).
ML–I’m glad to hear you did well and that the effort paid off.
T’s Mama–I’m wishing you a triumphant and lucrative Sunday.
I made it to an Animal Assistance League fundraiser setup at 5:30 this a.m., now am back and getting ready for a wedding this afternoon. (Why do I worry about how I’ll look at a wedding that isn’t my own?)
And if anyone has info on how to obtain one of those cookbooks, please let me know. (I also wouldn’t mind one of those schoolbus jackets from the corgi photo the other day.)
    Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone.

Diane – we like that joke. Our Gilly is absolutely part neon. Did we tell you she chased a bear out of the yard? She just wanted to herd it.

    Happy Chetspeak Day!

I’m having shrimp chop suey with garlic and black bean sauce for a late breakfast (leftover Chinese). Delish.

DianeC: Regarding the cookbook: It was made as a fund raiser for Snowhook Kennels. To get one we made a donation to Snowhook. There is a way, although don’t ask me how as I am low tech. Rio or Rebecca may remember the minimum donation (It was $10 – $20, I think). They probably know how to get a copy to you without revealing state secrets.
(I’m still working up to that first sit-up.)
Regarding weddings: They make me dress up beyond my comfort zone.

AJ: Such loyal and loving dogs to come back to let you know they were running free without pain, to thank you and to guide you and the team on your way. I am not surprised at all. It’s the loving care you and BDHW give to all the dogs, come back to bless you.

Mollypop’s Mom: The cats here drive me crazy doing this!

Meashka: That picture makes me wish I was there having all that horse-riding fun. Not that I know anything about riding horses. Snort! But it looks like great fun.

Wose: Hooray! One more day of summer camp and then the Vermont Plunderfest! Don’t forget your camera! Maybe you’ll get a group shot for the calendar!

Tupper’s Mama: I hope the crowds are spending freely!

ML: I am impressed with your garage sales results! Congratulations! You’ve done an enormous amount of work in a small amount of time. Now take a breath!

MPM–Perfect cartoon. Could also apply to some dogs I know who shall remain nameless.
tupper’s Mama–A bear? A big bear? (My heart would have attacked me if it had been Ms. Pretty.) Gilly must have an outsized personality.
Dawson–I’ve decided to take it easy and just wear a lot of makeup (which is like dressing up, right? Only then you can wash it off quickly.)
Any further info on the cookbook will be appreciated.

HOH: My garden is like yours. Not weed free. Not close. Did I tell you I love your pots? My tomatoes are devastated by the snow/hail/flood, but flowering. All three cucumber plants succumbed to the weather (well, accidentally I broke one’s neck while planting). Everything else doing reasonably well. I am finally able to identify the last trays of seeds I planted as coriander and poppies with a couple violas or johnny jump ups. I have those to go in pots or in the ground along with a few stray plants, a lonely strawberry that the man who lives here brought home, quite a few basil starts. I hope I see some zinnia starts among the now dying tulip and daffodil greenery.

    DianeC:…wanabee pallbearers… heh,heh,heh!

Diane – yes, you could say that Gilly has a larger than life personality. You could also say she lives to herd. She simply does not understand why the garter snakes and squirrels in the back yard refuse to cooperate. So, she figures she would try a bear.
We do love that silly puppy. Can’t wait to see what Teddy RR thinks of her.

We are home from the partay. Mom was not lying to us. This was a great partay. It was to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of a place called Awesome Dawgs. There were vendor stands and free people food and doggie snacks. And, there is the biggest, nicest dog park ever. It has two levels, and a bridge, plus two swimming pools. Each dog must pass an evaluation before they can be allowed in. You get a green sticker (good) or a yellow sticker (ok but must be watched well). Of course, i and my puppy Kat won green stickers. Mom purchased 10 passes to go back! There are also experienced trainers in that park, in case there are any shenanigans. I don’t know what shenanigans are, but I like that someone knows how to stop them.
Kat and I ran our hearts off and played and played and played. On the way home, we stopped at our favorite ice cream parlor, and we each got a dish of the good stuff. Life is good.

How’s this for a rumor: we are at a museum that is part of a huge c a s i n o resort. Last night, Jennifer Lopez was on stage in the big building. The tribal chairman issued a formal welcome and invitation for her to come to the art show. She sent a message back that she will try to stop by to check out the art.

That piece is beautiful and J Lo could really show it off.

Back from the graduation party. It was in a nice park but the ground was saturated from the rain last night. Also lots of mosquitoes, but Barb had taken some bug spray along. She doesn’t like to use it, but even more she doesn’t like to get chewed to pieces.

The kid who graduated (barely) had ear plugs in and played with his phone for awhile, then he left with a couple other kids to get burgers. They couldn’t wait for the grill to get hot. He was gone an hour and got back in time for Barb to tell him good bye. He could care less if Barb was there, but I am sure his peeps appreciated it.

They said he is trying to get a job (barely) but no one is calling him back. Gee, I wonder if the lack of personal hygiene is a factor. His folks are the nicest people, but they don’t think it is right to tell him to use deodorant or brush his teeth which are gross. “He needs to make his own personal decisions”.

Mama Meash, Sounds like you guys sure had a fun day!

    MPM, Love the cartoon!

Today, Grizz and I went to Cold Spring, stopped at some antique stores, and then we sat for a while by the river. We watched the ducks and geese, and people out on boats and jet skis. Then we went to Moo Moo’s , the best homemade ice cream place ever. Grizz had chocolate cherry, and I had black raspberry. YUMMMM-Y!

We made some four-legged friends, too. We met Zeus, a Sharpei-Pug mix, a very friendly French Bulldog, two Chet-like dogs, and a little LouLou dog. It’s always a good day when you make friends with a dog.

The logistics of a Sharpei and Pug mix get together is a little hard to imagine.

Barb had some raspberry ice cream with chocolate chips recently. The combo is marvelous!

Marinating some chicken with Herbs de Provence to do on the grill at Josh’s.

These parents – they are wonderful, kind people, but they adopted late in life and they are helicopter parents. Their younger kid is really cool and seems well adjusted, but this older one, zoowie! They said he probably hasn’t brushed his teeth in a year. Really! They feel that when he wants to date (he is almost 19) he will clean himself up. Several years ago they told Barb they had tried grounding him and took away his electronics. He stole some from his brother and locked himself in his bedroom. Barb said one of her girls tried that once and presto, they didn’t have a door anymore. They felt “that would invade his personal space”. Gah! So far he doesn’t have a job or a driver’s license, but he wants to go to college in the fall.

J-Lo sent word that she would come over around 5. But the museum closes at 5, and the alarm system sets at 6:15. So everyone HAS to be out by 6. We closed the show at 4:30, and everyone had to pack like mad to get out ahead of the alarm. You saw the size of our booth – yikes – packing that all up in an hour and a half – yeeeeeep
The producer begged for an extension, but the museum said no – it is too big a job to retask the alarm system.

So poor J-Lo will just have to live without a great necklace.

Love the moose babies. The bears are really roaming our neighborhood. They have been in the back yard for the last three days.

    Gilly does NOT approve.

I adopted an entryway to a park near where I live. It is supposed to be shrubs surrounded by mulch but through the years weeds have overgrown the shrubs and the beds. So I made a phone call to volunteer to keep it weed free….The last two days I’ve been tackling the dandelions some of which were 2-3 feet tall. There were a few clumps that were bushes in themselves and I could barely get them in the lawn trash bag! I filled 7 bags just of dandelions–not all could fit in my home garage container so I will be calling my sister to see if she has room in hers. Next week I’ll tackle another weed and continue until it is decent. I hope the city will agree to re-mulch it when it is cleaned up. One person walking by said thank you (and who knows, more walkers may have thought that but they would have been talking to my butt as I was bent over…

CHobbit, you are amazing! I have often wanted to lop a low hanging branch off of a public tree, but figured it would be more trouble to find permission. Heh-heh, talk to the butt.
