Chetspeak on Sunday

Things have a way of suddenly speeding up in this life, or at least in mine. By speeding up I mean going faster than you yourself—meaning me, in this case—can actually go, if you see what I mean. No problem if you don’t: I don’t either, really.

“CHET!”

And then you’ve just got to go faster than you can go. What choice is there? So that’s what I did out on the street in front of Livia’s Friendly Coffee and More. Somehow I had that whole box of biscuits in my mouth? Have I mentioned that already? More like an edge of the box, to be more accurate—no way a mouth, even a big one like mine, could take in a whole extra-large size box of extra-large size biscuits. My plan was to . . . was to . . . Never mind plans! Full speed ahead! I zoomed my very fastest, claws ripping into the pavement, the air full of biscuits streaming by. What a life! Had I ever . . . Biscuits streaming by?

– from Tail of Vengeance, the new C&B e-story, coming July 8. $0.99! You can find that under the couch cushions.

What’s In A Name?, a conversation between Ms. Publicist and Spence about a character in the Chet and Bernie series which normally appears on the 15th of the month, will be posted tomorrow.

OMD I am rolling on this floor laughing. Chet the Jet! He must run like me! I dig my claws into the pavement too, so I can push off and go my fastest. And those biscuits streaming by! Dog! I can’t stop laughing!!!

    Greetings!

Hey, Egg Day, Chet Speak, and Father’s Day all rolled into one! What could be better. I know…..the wise and wonderful Bear Spirit Dog up top!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS AND GRANDFATHERS OUT THERE!

That does sound like fun, Chet. Running like the wind. I can picture me doing that, but not my pal Lucy. She is much more likely to lay in the yard and let the wind blow thru her big floppy ears.

Have to go remind Barb that today is also Egg Day!

Josh just called and asked Barb what she was doing. That usually is followed by “Can you watch the kids for a few hours?”, but today he invited her to join them on a trip to Rockford. Guess there is a butterfly garden there and Josh is taking the kids. Barb says this is going to remind her of her trip east and all the friends that gathered to honor Our Friend in Purple.

Someone asked about “cook” and “bake.” (I’m not sure if it was a real question.) “Cook” is derived from Old English “coc” which in turn is derived from Latin “coqere”–to cook. “Bake” is derived from Old English “bacan” which I believe is an original OE word.

For anyone interested, a new two-part mystery begins tonight on Masterpiece Mystery titled, “The Escape Artist.” It stars David Tennant. (I assume the second and final episode will be next week.) Tennant will also be starring in an “American” version of “Broadchurch” in the fall titled “Gracepoint.”

I love the picture of Maggie and Lucy.

With that being said, we must have a 2015 PLUNDERER calendar, don’t youse think so? And PLUNDERERS should be on that calendar.

I would like those of youse who would like to be a calendar dog/kat/two-legged, to send me two most excellent pictures of yourselves.

Well……back from Rockford and would you believe we did not see one flippin butterfly! Evidently the butterflies are only there for a short time in the spring and then are released. So today we walked around in the humid heat and looked at some cool tropical plants. So why, you may ask, is it called the Nicholas Butterfly Garden? Anyway, we paid to get in there and walked around for a few minutes, then drove down the street to a small museum, paid again and walked around there for an hour. Now Barb is ready for a quiet nap!

    5:05 pm on June 15th, 2014

What a day I have had. Again, they drove me to that village. This time we walked around a parking lot and nearby baseball and track fields. There were people and balls all over the place. Every time I thought I could run in and grab a ball, they made me sit. What is up with that! Loulou and Teddy, we just gotta figure out the answer to this crap.
Next, we went to this big barn and an even bigger “yard”. I got to shop. I decided to buy a lot of stuff, but Mom said “Zeus, you don’t have any money”. So then, this guy shows them a harness where a leash is attached to the front ! Gasp! Every time I wanted to go somewhere, Mom made me turn around with that there leash. Then that Steve guy who was here last week took us all up to the fence around the yard, and by then, there were a bunch of dogs in there. I did not like some of them. They would come to the fence, like I was going to let them out of there. I told them I would not, in no uncertain terms. Then they took me in a small fenced in area with a gate to that yard. I was nervous that they would put me in there, but they did not. They took off my leash, and I got to sniff all those other guys. Then we got in the car and stopped at this fabulous place where Pop got me ice cream! Good thing, after all of that work I had to do. All in all, a good day. I am pooped.

Diane, I’ll answer your question about tourist mushing in Alaska.
It has become a pretty common thing for tourists do to. The Snowhook dogs have in past summers gone to the glacier and hauled tourists around. I am sure the tourists are impressed because they are real Iditarod dogs. This is more fun for the dogs than hanging out and doing nothing in the summer.
I think tourist mushing is good for the dogs and good for Alaska. Sled Dogs were born to be sled dogs.

We have been having a good day around here. Gramp’s birthday is very close to Father’s Day, so we usually celebrate them together. Plus we are leaving for a show on his birthday, so we really wanted to get the party started.

We surprised him with a huge seafood feast – first course, lazy lobster, swimming in butter. Next course, swordfish and tuna steak kabobs done on the grill, with grilled zukes, mushrooms, red peppers and onions, and steamed jasmine rice.
And finished up with an Italian fruitcake, layered with canolli cream.

Even the Wrotten Kats got some. Everyone here is about to burst.

And we are happy to report that brother is really settling down – no temper flares, and he is looking healthier and better every day. He will be seeing his doctor tomorrow, and he said he is going to ask for a recommendation for a psychiatrist – he realizes he needs some help.

So, it has been a good day overall. Thank dawg.

T&G: good news at your home.

Sadie has graduated to being a mom dog: Ikette is sleeping on her dining room bed and Sadie is laying on the cold tiles. I fed Ikette his puppy kibble and then gave Sadie a Nat’l Hebrew hotdog on the deck to eat. Ikette was there in a flash and took that hotdog right out of Sadie’s mouth and ran away (but didn’t get far). He has figured out that Sadie gets the good stuff. heh.

Ms Wose. I like your calendar idea a lot and I will get my mom and dad to send in pictures as soon as we are able. We are having something called “coverage issues” with our friends at Verizon right now, so while the IPaw seems to work, their smart phonies do not, except when we are actually in town. So if any of youses are specting SDDs from us, it may be sporadic at best. Anyways, I would like to be Mr. October if I can, I understand that is a real “hot dog” thing to be.

Just sent picture and description of auction item 1 to Rebecca. Guys, I took the best picture I could, but it still doesn’t do the item justice. So I hope you all will like it and want to bid! Hopefully, I can find another item to donate.

    Happy Fathers Day to all!
