Chetspeak on Sunday
“I think my boyfriend is cheating on me.”
We should have walked away at that very moment, me and Bernie, or better yet run, our tails between our legs. Not so easy in Bernie’s case, since, maybe like you, he’s stuck with living a tailless life, poor guy. Imagine that! Actually, I can’t. The good news is that I’ve got enough tail for two, a strong, bushy, pleasing-to-the-eye tail that even has a mind of its own. Sometimes it wags me! Or just about. I’m not so easy to wag, being a hundred-plus pounder, and strong for my size, Bernie says. And not just Bernie: ask some of the perps up at Northern State Correctional, although they may not have time for chitchat, what with being so busy breaking rocks in the hot sun. The point is we’ve taken down lots of perps here at the Little Detective Agency. Bernie’s last name is Little. I’m Chet, pure and simple.

Good morning. Happy Chetspeak. Happy Egg Day. It is BEEautiful weather here, thogh still chilly.
Is it the new short story, The Teitlebaum Divorce?
8:26 am on May 25th, 2014
THOUGH. Duh. That’s what we get for trying to please Bee instead of typing our usual “tho”.
8:47 am on May 25th, 2014
Good morning OH and everyone! YES! Chetspeak, we love it. Egg Day, we ate ’em. Sunday, having a grilling bash, no begging, heh, heh, heh. Haunted French pancakes give us the crepes 🙂
Have a super, almost summer, holiday weekend Sunday.
8:55 am on May 25th, 2014
Greetings!
Happy Egg Day! To all good doggies, may an egg come their way.
I thought about Melanie all day.
9:06 am on May 25th, 2014
Good morning, family.
We are off to play chauffeur to Gramp and his friend and take them to church. No eggs for the weary.
9:32 am on May 25th, 2014
T&G! Sue for damages!
9:39 am on May 25th, 2014
But Attorney Meash, those Corgis got home made cookies on Friday and didn’t MAIL any to anyone.
9:43 am on May 25th, 2014
This home is amazing. Once again, I was served egg over Zen Food. I was right that this happens once a week. I heard Mom say it is a Sunday thing here on this farm. She told me that, tomorrow, a young friend of mine from the Rescue may be stopping by. His name is Tundra, and he had a terrible life as a young pup. He was bullied by 2 pits and left in a crate 24 x 7. He was terribly hurt and his leg didn’t work right when I met him. We at the Rescue took care of him, and he is doing so much better. And Kat’s amazing godmom promised to adopt him when she is ready. She had a sick Cherokee to take care of, and this guy looks so much like Cherokee it will be a little difficult for her at first.

9:45 am on May 25th, 2014
No eggs here either. Barb says since she had ice cream last night, and since she is going to a neighbor’s cookout this afternoon, she is going to just eat twice today. She has discovered these frozen Marathon Chicken Burgers and is going to have one for lunch. They are in the frozen food section with the pre-made burgers. They are Greek style with feta cheese, spinach and red pepper. She tops them with fresh spinach and chopped green onion from the garden. Delish!
We are going out to plant the next row of bush green beans. Blue Lake Bush are going in today, right next to the Romas that Staff sent us. We are staggering every two weeks to spread out the production.
The Donna Ball book is about half done. This one, #7 in the Raine Stockton series, takes place partially at an agility trial competition. High In Trial contains a lot of detail about agility, so if you are interested in this sport you will especially enjoy this book. Of course there is a murder mystery involved too! (How do I do as a reviewer?)
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
9:47 am on May 25th, 2014
Good morning y’all.
I’m trying to get mom moving toward the shower so she can make it to church. If she doesn’t go, she will just sit here all day and I find that very annoying. Get up and DO something woman! She just hates to wash her hair, but she better do it if she doesn’t want to gross people out. Ok, Move. NOW.
Later taters.
9:49 am on May 25th, 2014
Macy, she will feel refreshed after her shower. It helps.
Howlers, How does Zeus react to the chickens? He seems like he is starting to fit in with the girls. Any more fights with Mama Meash?
9:56 am on May 25th, 2014
Maggie, those chickens belong to Mom, and I am not allowed inside their fence. And Meashka and I sorted things out. (Whispering) Meashka is In Charge.
T.C. still does not trust me, but Mom said that is not my fault (other than the first accidental meeting). I am now trying to convince T.C. that I am harmless. Progress is slow, but sure.
10:15 am on May 25th, 2014
good morning all and eggs to all those who will benefit.
T and G–Be of good courage and recall cookie day.
Macy–Have you tried leading your Mom to the shower? (I know that would work for me…)
HOH–Crepes…haunted French pancakes Oh–now I get it! (And now I’m thinking about pancakes for some reason–just what I need.
We’re off to an early start as I hope to be at the opera this afternoon if the trains are running on time.
Everyone have a Super Sunday and take some time to reflect on ALL those who have gone on ahead of us–military or not–and rejoice in their having been part of our lives.
Rio–If you see me back here this afternoon, it will mean I’ve blown off the opera in favor of beer and thinking of you.
10:19 am on May 25th, 2014
…I’m also voting for the Teitelbaum divorce because I don’t remember any cheating in the other e-stories.
(Also, when do we get another installment in the Iggy Chronicles?)
10:27 am on May 25th, 2014
I think the excerpt must be from the Teitelbaum e-story which is listed on Amazon at 99 cents. I’ve already pre-ordered it.
It sounds like Zeus is fitting in well. That is wonderful.
Good morning all.
10:28 am on May 25th, 2014
Forgot: Barb–Excellent review.
10:31 am on May 25th, 2014
Dawson–I just went back and saw the gorgeous astro-photo. I so wish there were less light pollution where I live. Thank you so much.
10:35 am on May 25th, 2014
B&M, Wowser…high praise from HRH B
10:50 am on May 25th, 2014
DianeC: It Could be the Teitelbaum Divorce…except that it’s not out yet…(unless this is a enticing preview)
Being a kat, I am going to say…A Cat Was Involved…as my first choice.
HOH: French crepes yes! but haunted?
T.C.: I am sure Zeusikõv doesn’t mean you harm. Perhaps he hasn’t had much experience with kats.
11:11 am on May 25th, 2014
99 cents? I am going to Guess…The Iggy Chronicles…just because it’s a favorite of mine.
Diane: You are in Good Company…B made the same choice.
Tundra is a Beauty. We hope he will soon be adopted by Cherokee’s most Loving Mom.
Zeus: You’re no dummy. You know a Good Home when you see it.
Maggie: Tell Barb we thought her’s was an Excellent Review and made us want to read the series.
Crepes for Breakfast! Boy does THAT sound good!
11:13 am on May 25th, 2014
that would be…an enticing preview.
11:46 am on May 25th, 2014
I say this excerpt is from the Teitlebaum Divorce because I do not remember reading this before.
Chet: I too, am living the tailless life, trying to make the best of it.
11:49 am on May 25th, 2014
Happy Chetspeak Day everyone
I would like to see Tundra’s former “owners” breaking rocks in the hot sun in southern Arizona for an eternity.
It is going to be a productive day around here. We got up at 5:30 am to watch the Monaco Grand Prix. The Indy 500 is next and then the Rockies game.
Zeuskiov, pal, You are doing good.
12:08 pm on May 25th, 2014
Wose: We all miss our beautiful friend so much. Here is another picture in memory of her.
The credit for this photograph goes to John Chumack. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/1404/auroradog_chumack_annotated_960.jpg
12:33 pm on May 25th, 2014
Preview!….WOOOOOO!…That has to be from the upcoming E-Story out this July. July, right?…heh!heh!…I do not believe I have ever read about Bernie being tail-less before…snort!….Although the “tail between my legs” is something I may or may not be able to do….chorkel!
12:45 pm on May 25th, 2014
Dawson: Our HeartFriend in Purple had so Many Interests.
Thank You for offering a little bit of that. Because We Remember, her presence will continue to be felt by everyone who loves her.
12:47 pm on May 25th, 2014
Melanie was always sending us astronomical information. sniff
We had an asparagus frittata (eggs) with fresh from the garden asparagus. We also had mushrooms, tomato, parmesan and our own multiplier onions in it. Yummers.
The asparagus looks better than last year. We hope that a couple more years of babying it and not over harvesting will allow the poor ravished plants to recover.
Hope to talk Mr.fireslippers into going to the really good greenhouse/garden center this afternoon. http://www.bergesonnursery.com
Later gators.
1:16 pm on May 25th, 2014
Staff!….That garden center looks amazing!…snort!…Is it really located in Fertile, MN?…heh!heh!
2:01 pm on May 25th, 2014
I want an asparagus fritata!
I was not motivated to plant the garden yesterday. Today is warmer and sunny so outside I go – to plant or not to plant?
2:16 pm on May 25th, 2014
Dawson!…My friends Radishes are coming up!…snort!…Now Beau has something to aim for…heh!heh!
Dead!…Get this. We are downstairs doing laundry and watching a movie called, “Juno” when my TV turned off…sniff!…So my friend tried to turn it on again. It won’t turn on. AND the DVD is stuck inside of it….grump!….How the heck do you get a DVD out of a Dead TV?? I’m not sure but I think Netflix wants it back…wheeze!!… I hope my friend knows she must go buy a new flat-screen tv and pronto…gurgle!

Hi everybody. I am sorry that Cherokee didn’t have the strength to blog before he had to go North of the Rainbow Bridge to be with the fellow huskies that have gone before him. Cherokee fought so hard for almost two years of his kidney failure and almost a year after his cancer surgery. He was an amazing dog, one that changed my life and made me learn to live for each day, be thankful for each day, and make the most out of every single walk just for the simple joy it brings. I thank all of you on this blog for caring about him and praying for him for so long. I was blessed to have been his Mom and will cherish the memories of him forever.

2:53 pm on May 25th, 2014
Cherokee’s Mom: Through your Words & Memories his legacy lives on.
You were both so fortunate to have found each other.
What an Amazing Dog he is!
2:53 pm on May 25th, 2014
Cherokee’s Mom – thank you for all the loving care you gave your puppy. What a good life he had, and we wish him good running and happy yarking on the other side of the Bridge.
2:55 pm on May 25th, 2014
sob.
3:02 pm on May 25th, 2014
That is a beautiful tribute to Cherokee. I like to think of him as running free now in the Land of Snow.
3:12 pm on May 25th, 2014
Cherokee’s mom: Your boy is now whole and restored. We will care for him for you. Head bumps.
3:15 pm on May 25th, 2014
Masquers, We will join you in the sob, especially my mom. We are very thankful Cherokee had such good care and was loved so much.
3:32 pm on May 25th, 2014
What beautiful pictures of both Cherokee and his mom. His was a life well lived.
3:35 pm on May 25th, 2014
Cherokee was a beauty. Running free in the land of snow is a lovely image.
4:06 pm on May 25th, 2014
Cherokee was such a handsome and noble dog. Sob
4:08 pm on May 25th, 2014
Zeusikov , I am glad to hear that your are starting to be comfortable in your forever home.
Please be gentle with TC. I don’t want him to have to stay in the dark, dirty, laundry room.
4:17 pm on May 25th, 2014
Cherokee’s Mom. I just want you to know that I greeted Cherokee with open paws as he crossed. As you know our stories on earth were very similar — wonderful lives brought short by cancer and kidney failure, but which we fought every day that we could. You will be glad to know that he has been restored to full strength and ability here across the bridge, although he misses you very much and so greatly appreciates all the love that you gave to him.
4:17 pm on May 25th, 2014
Macy’s Mom, I know what you must be feeling, because I feel it too. There are days where it is very hard to drag myself out of bed, much less shower, and get dressed. At my last head shrinking appointment, Grizz came in too, to talk to my doctor. The advice was to put myself on a schedule. Go to sleep at the same time every night, and get no more thane 8 eight hours sleep. Make goals to get out and walk a bit each day, and do one household chore. I also need to try not to nap during the day. So far, Grizz is helping me with these goals. Today, we drove to the town of Warwick, want to the farmer’s market, walked into a few antique stores, and saw many lovely purple flowers. They reminded me of Melanie. I do feel refreshed. We can do this together my twin sister from different mothers.
4:23 pm on May 25th, 2014
Wose, No worries. Today, Mom and Pop (did you know that man’s name is Pop?) went to a party and left me, Zeus, in charge. TC was free free free. But she and I pretended we didn’t know that. She stayed in the cellar, which she loves because it is all hers. I stayed in the breezeway, which I love because I can lay against the glass door and observe everything outdoors, yet feel secure that Mom will come back home to me me me.
4:50 pm on May 25th, 2014
Zeusikov, Good dog. I am glad you are feeling comfortable with your mom and pop. They will always come home to you, because they love you.
4:52 pm on May 25th, 2014
Staff, Important question. Are you in MN now?
5:29 pm on May 25th, 2014
Teddy and Zeta had a great play date yesterday — at Lake Frank in Montgomery County. A couple of photos follow. The first is Teddy and Zeta in the back seat of the Teddymobile on the way there.

5:31 pm on May 25th, 2014
And this is Teddy and Zeta at Lake Frank.

5:41 pm on May 25th, 2014
The world’s most adorable young couple.
Teddy? Did your folks know Zeta’s folks before they adopted Zeta?
5:48 pm on May 25th, 2014
Lovely couple. Teddy, we love how you snuggle your girl in the back seat. Did Zeta go in that lake?
5:50 pm on May 25th, 2014
Teddy? Do you like water?
6:19 pm on May 25th, 2014
umm Teddy? I should have said, do you like to play in water?
6:33 pm on May 25th, 2014
We did not know Zeta’s folks before they adopted Zeta. We met Zeta and her dad on the trail that we walk on one day and they had so much fun wrestling and then we met Zeta and her mom a few days later on the trail. To make a long story short, it was love at first sight for Teddy and Zeta and Zeta’s folks are now very good friends of ours.
Neither Zeta nor Teddy went into the lake this time (the lake has had some recent algae pollution issues, although we think it is now safe again). I’m sure Teddy will go in the next time we go, assuming it is safe; Zeta, not so much.
7:06 pm on May 25th, 2014
Teddy, you are such a fine, young gentledog, and Zeta is just beautiful. Glad you are having fun!
7:32 pm on May 25th, 2014
Teddy: What Great Photos of you and Zeta!
(whispering) I see you are at the lake without a lease while eta is not.
7:32 pm on May 25th, 2014
Carpola! Zeta, not eta!
8:15 pm on May 25th, 2014
Wose, I am at the farm in North Dakota.
8:18 pm on May 25th, 2014
Rio, The garden center is just south of Fertile. It is up the road from Climax, MN
8:56 pm on May 25th, 2014
Great…Another error…just noticed it says lease instead of leash in that last post.
Time to Catch Up on Mad Men before the Season Finale tonight.
But first…Suppertime!
Later – Bear
9:01 pm on May 25th, 2014
Wose, your post to me made me sob. We ARE going through a very similar situation, yet so different. I hope that you appreciate every minute with Grizz. So many times Rick pushed me when I could not push myself. Now there is no one to push me but me, and sometimes I just can’t. I feel like I am wasting my life, yet I have no motivation to do anything else. Another church friend is coming over tomorrow and I hope to get the living room cleared out so I don’t feel like I am living in a warehouse. And now the sewer is acting up again…
9:02 pm on May 25th, 2014
Bear!…Alas! We cannot finish up on Mad Men because the TV that died was the only one hooked up for ON DEMAND…grump!…She better do something about this dire situation real soon..sniffle!
9:35 pm on May 25th, 2014
ML and Wose, take each difficult step today and tomorrow that step will be easy. Then you take the next difficult step.
9:47 pm on May 25th, 2014
Staff what is wrong with the people that named those towns? Didn’t they realize that one day we would be putting LOL after saying those names? And what about Blue Balls, PA.? Really?
9:57 pm on May 25th, 2014
Staff, The garden center looks amazing. Some of the pictures of hanging baskets are breathtaking.
Mary Lou, Since you aren’t working right now, why don’t you do a for real trip and visit all of your blog friends. Did you get a new car? One that is travel worthy? Spend a month or two and come see all of us. Why not?
10:04 pm on May 25th, 2014
I just want to pack up the necessities and get out of this house. Problem is, I don’t know where I want to go. Anywhere but here, but that is not practical right now either. Cover your ears. I am going to scream now.
10:09 pm on May 25th, 2014
The name originates from the Blue Ball Hotel, built more than two hundred years ago. In the early 18th century, John Wallace built a small building in Earl Town at the intersection of two Indian trails. He hung a blue ball out front and called it “The Sign of the Blue Ball.” Locals soon began calling the town “Blue Ball” after the inn. In 1833, Earl Town officially changed its name to Blue Ball. –Wikipedia
10:40 pm on May 25th, 2014
Huuuum. not the first thought to come to mind. But thank you, ML for a much cleaner version than we would have conjured up.
Also, ML, did you read our second paragraph up above?
10:53 pm on May 25th, 2014
B&M, I did, but that is not something I can do right now, no matter how much I would like to.
10:54 pm on May 25th, 2014
ML,Wose, Prayers and good thoughts for you. Not sure what to add at this point (I just deleted some suggestions because what works for some doesn’t for others). I am thinking of you both and will keep you on the list for when I meditate. (Can’t hurt.)
11:05 pm on May 25th, 2014
Thanks Diane. Plenty of people want to tell me what to do. What they don’t understand is that I am unable to make myself do anything right now. I’m just stuck.
And the dish seems to have gone out in the rain. Of course it did.
11:07 pm on May 25th, 2014
We here have had a long day and will have to say good night. Hope for good days ahead for MaryLou, Rose, Zoe and Boobears folks.
11:07 pm on May 25th, 2014
ML – you will make it through these dark days, because believe it or not, you are a strong person. But never forget that friends truly mean it when they offer help. Accept it, and allow yourself to ask for it.
And you can come scream on the blog whenever you need to.
Teddy – you and Zeta make a lovely couple. How great that you helped your folks find some new friends too.
11:18 pm on May 25th, 2014
On Demand-Less…sniff!…No TV downstairs…grunt!… So we sort of kept busy. Someone likes to sit outside on the patio and commune with nature while Beau and I look at the door and want to go inside…sneeze!…Then she decided to hell with the wind and cold we would go on our shortened version of the walk…grump!…Finally she fed us. But not enough…sniff!…Then the final episode of Mad Men came on (not ON DEMAND – regular tv) and we watched that. I think we missed an episode or three. When did Drapers daughter grow-up?…grunt!…I know I must be behind a few episodes but really? We did love that the episode ended with Neil Armstrong landing on the moon though….heh!heh!…I am not giving anything away by saying that…snort!…The song and dance routine was perfect! And those of you who know Broadway will agree…chuffle!
11:24 pm on May 25th, 2014
ML!…When my friend was going through what you are going through with the death of so many family members in the same year, she decided she needed a hobby…grunt!….And somehow she ended up with that quilling thing…which she did a lot of today just because she was also feeling down!down!down!. It is closing in on her grandma’s birthday and this time of year is hard…sniff!…But having a hobby seems to help on this end anyway…something for you to think about…snuffle!
11:28 pm on May 25th, 2014
ML: Forgive me, but I am going to tell you what to do and I expect you to do it. It doesn’t involve getting out of your pajamas or doing your hair. It is very important. I want you to know that you are loved by those on both sides of the Bridge. Don’t forget it. Head bumps and dainty licks.
More to ML: If, nay when you visit the kennel again, Wyatt has called dibs on being your escort.
11:47 pm on May 25th, 2014
ML!…My friend did not wash her hair today either, and she should have…bah!…Just saying.
12:28 am on May 26th, 2014
Just finished 3 hours of labor and am about to shower and wash my hair. It should make me feel better (and I hope my hair dries before bedtime). Oodles of noodles to all.
