Chetspeak On Sunday
“Vera here’s a Stanford graduate,” the mayor said. “My opponent’s chief of staff went to North Valley C.C. What does that tell you?”
“The Unabomber went to Harvard,” Bernie said.
The mayor’s smile started going upside down. Vera laughed. Maybe not the nicest-sounding laugh I’d ever heard, kind of loud and harsh, but human laughter? One of the best things there is. The meeting was going great. I gnawed on my chew strip and soon my mind was wandering pleasantly. That’s part of the fun of chew strips, maybe news to you.

Chet’s line, “The meeting was going great” makes me laugh.
Good morning all.
10:44 am on May 11th, 2014

Oh, baby, I hear the blues a callin’—-Tossed salad and scrambled eggs…
Ooops, Grizz and I were talking about the show FRASIER yesterday.

10:44 am on May 11th, 2014
Good morning all, and happy whatever-you-want-to-celebrate day.
I have some eggs from last month. They are not bad, just out of date. Is it safe to cook them up for the pooches? I tell you, I am not a Suzy Homemaker.
As soon as anxiety level settles down, I am off to church with my mom and Angie. Then we will go to the deli and pick up some goodies, as none of us are inclined to stand in Mother’s Day lines at the popular eateries.
10:45 am on May 11th, 2014
Golinka, Don’t worry…your pilot says,

“Smooth Flight ahead!”
10:47 am on May 11th, 2014

De nada…
Teddy Ruff Ruff, I just saw your picture up top. You were a very little pup. You looked like a little teddy bear! Grizz and I had so much fun meeting you and your mom and pop last year. I hope you have a nice Mother’s Day present for you mom.
I hope she has lots of good snacks for you!
11:13 am on May 11th, 2014
Macy’s Mom
Go ahead and cook the eggs for the pooches. Generally eggs are safe for consumption by people for several weeks after the use by date. If they smell bad, don’t use them.
11:20 am on May 11th, 2014
A crooked finger sent that post before I was finished. If eggs are continuously refrigerated and the shells aren’t cracked, they should be good for up to 5 weeks after the expiration date.
11:25 am on May 11th, 2014
Golinka!….She is on the runway taxiing….snort!
11:25 am on May 11th, 2014
BSD, looks like that pilot has the situation well in paw.
Tyb, think you are right about the eggs. Refrigeration is the key.
11:26 am on May 11th, 2014
Correction!….She has taken off!….Woooo!
11:31 am on May 11th, 2014

11:49 am on May 11th, 2014
Direction!….Golinka is cooking now!….snort!snort!… Hopefully that Pilot is back in his seat and not wandering the isles…sniff!
11:50 am on May 11th, 2014
Good Job, Rio. I love the little green plane. Maybe the pilot went around some weather. I don’t know.
Masquers? Are you going to a baseball game today? Tell us about it when you return.
Wose, Yes! GO ROCKIES!!!
Happy Mothers Day Everyone!!
12:41 pm on May 11th, 2014
Zoom!…Zoom!Zoom!…snort!…Golinka is making good time. She is almost to New York already…heh!….Only 40 minutes or so to go….sneeze!

1:08 pm on May 11th, 2014
Happy Day to Everyone!
Looks like Golinka’s pilot thought about coming up to Canada but ran into a little “weather” so turned back.
Thanks for the Chetspeak: I think I will find the equivalent of a chew strip…but what?
If an egg looks and smells fine then I’d eat it.
1:10 pm on May 11th, 2014
Fifteen!….Only fifteen minutes to go and Golinka will be in New England…snort!snort!…I hope she has a ride home….wuffle!
1:17 pm on May 11th, 2014
If Golinka is driving home from the airport, she will be back to the Herbs and the Royals in no time. We learned everything we know about driving it like we stole it from Golinka.
Happy mothers day for all youse who are mothers and mothers in your own way.
1:30 pm on May 11th, 2014
Landed!….The Golinka has landed….snort!snort!
2:10 pm on May 11th, 2014
Rio, We just got back in the house to watch the game. Long story short, but we have a strange car parked in our front yard (yes, it is really in our yard) so we called the cops. The cops red tagged the vehicle and are now looking for the owners. The cops said that we could legally have the vehicle towed right now if we wanted, but mom said we will give it some time. The car is not a stolen car.
Golinka, You are not missing a thing in NM because the weather has turned nasty. Hope you had a smooth flight home.
2:43 pm on May 11th, 2014
Lovely day here, but we are supposed to get storms later, with possible high winds.
Back home from seeing Kelly and her gang. Now going to rest, then older daughter Shannon is coming and we are going over to Josh’s for a cook out. Kelly is coming tomorrow to plant patio pots for Barb. She does a better job than Barb does.
ML, Actually eggs can be good for even longer than TYB said. You can break it open and if the yoke breaks and runs, it is bad. Another test is to put it in room temp. water. Fresh eggs will always sink to the bottom. If one end comes up, it is still OK. If it totally floats, throw it out.
3:16 pm on May 11th, 2014
Golinka, so what’s for dinner?
3:30 pm on May 11th, 2014
Home. Happy puppies. Happy husband. Noncommittal Gramp.
We did indeed run into some weather. If I was a bottle if soda, you wouldn’t want to open me right now.
We flew over Buffalo and Niagra Falls. I waved at MPM and Sammie. The flight attendant asked me why. I explained a little, so she waved too.
Pork chops for dinner – after I unpack. (sigh)
Thieves – I have NO idea what you are talking about
tee hee
3:32 pm on May 11th, 2014
Royal Mum, Hope you had fun times, and glad that your feet are back on the ground!
3:34 pm on May 11th, 2014
Glad our Golinka is home safe after a wonderful trip. Siber H was a star. Rio and Masquers did a great job of flight tracking :).
Tyb and Barb of the chicks; Wowser did we ever learn a lot about eggs from y’all!
3:37 pm on May 11th, 2014
Happy Momma’s Day! It is a beautiful, blue sky, 76-degree day here. Rio, if you could leave your back yard, you could join us on our patio hammocks.
Zeus had an egg on his kibble, just like we all do. He had one last Egg Day too. Mom does not usually cook our eggs. We like them raw, mixed with our kibble.
Mom had her Momma’s Day ride on Annie this morning, after she finished her banana walnut pancakes. Then these guys worked all day cleaning out two sheds. It is exhausting just watching them. Now, we are all laid out relaxing. They are having ice tea; we Howlers are enjoying refreshing water. Life is good.
3:40 pm on May 11th, 2014
Golinka made it home while we were posting our Momma’s Day update. That girl can sure burn rubber!
Nana, enjoy the game!
3:46 pm on May 11th, 2014
Nana!….I sure hope Nana’s team is doing better than my team…grump!…The Giants lost yesterday and these knuckleheads are going to blow a chance to get a game up on them…sniff!…I think they would still be behind the Giants, but one game closer if they can pull this out of their butts…grunt!
3:59 pm on May 11th, 2014

Pupdate—Updates from the Pupernity Ward
After battling a brutal virus, Kirby, Maury, Dawson, Rose, Melanie and Amalia, the pups not the Plunderers are in full swing of all things puppy which includes eating a lot, playing, snuggles, naps, and trouble causing.
Kirby’s cinnamon bun tail is no secret now, but you should all know he is one happy, one friendly pup. He answers to any name that is called. He is tied with his brother Maury for largest in the litter.
Maury, Wookie at Paw is the only pup of the litter that wasn’t attacked by a nasty virus during the race. He is a thinker, that one. He has also been taking notes while the Thieves have been giving their ‘So you want to be an Outlaw’ lessons to Wyatt. This was made evident two nights ago when Maury made off with a chore glove. Eventually, the rightfully stolen property was recovered when Maury was offered a Yummy Chummy for his troubles. He must have looked ahead in the study guide at the ‘The Art of Negotiation for Thieves’ section.
Speaking of trouble, Dawson is a pawful. I would expect no less. She was hit hard with the virus, but has recovered. The virus and its treatment left her smaller than her brothers with patchy fur, but her spirit is no worse for wear. The Giant built a puppy wheel—think of a giant hamster wheel—and Dawson was one of the first to give it a go. She also found that it is an ideal place for napping.
Rose, rebounded nicely from the virus like Kirby G. Runworthy, and unlike the Plunderer, Rose the puppy is not small. Like the Plunderer, Rose the puppy has a strong spirit. She is usually in the middle of any ruckus caused in the puppy pen and proudly so. This girl is a love.
Melanie, the puppy not the Heartfriend is all black with just a bit of white on her chest. She looked like a little black bear cub when she was born. With the exception of being a little on the small side thanks to the virus, she recovered nicely. Our dear girl is a bit shy, but is no shrinking violet when it comes to food. She is strong willed, a clown and has a wonderful spirit.
If you have a Melanie, you have to have an Amalia. Those are the rules. Our little stinker is identical to Melanie the pup, not the Plunderer with just a smaller patch of white on her chest. Amalia was hit hardest by the virus and the treatment. She is half the size of her siblings, but has a healthy appetite and has embraced her inner pink bulldozer. Snuggling after eating is her favorite pass time. As she is sickly, she is not expected to be able to train with the team, but she will have a place in the kennel.
5:25 pm on May 11th, 2014
Dear Luna – fear not. Even if Amalia the Perfect Pup does not turn out to be an athlete, she will surely grow up to be the bossiness pup, full of good ideas for everyone else.
5:40 pm on May 11th, 2014
Thank you for the update, Mama Luna. Mom met Amalia, the puppy not the Plunderer. She has a feeling about that girl…
5:58 pm on May 11th, 2014
Puppies!
Dawson pup: A little relaxing after a hard days’s play is perfectly acceptable.
6:02 pm on May 11th, 2014
Mama Luna, Your update is very much appreciated.
Rose, the person, is always in the middle of trouble. heh.
6:04 pm on May 11th, 2014
RIO! Why is it still snowing where you are?
6:12 pm on May 11th, 2014
Dawson!….I have one word. Patchy Fur…heh!heh!snort!
Rose!…Yes!
6:44 pm on May 11th, 2014
Rio: That’s not one word.
7:13 pm on May 11th, 2014
Wose: That’s what we lover about you!
Amalia has patchy fur, too. These pups have proved true that we must Plunder on!
7:33 pm on May 11th, 2014
Thieves! Whenever someone calls my name, it is never for anything good.
7:52 pm on May 11th, 2014
Rose!…It is still snowing. My friend is very down today because it’s winter again and again and she can’t stand it anymore…snuffle!
8:01 pm on May 11th, 2014
Wose! Something good!
8:04 pm on May 11th, 2014
Rio – you should have talked your friend into meeting us in ABQ. It was warm and sunny there.
And I would have hugged you so hard your tail would have uncurled.
8:07 pm on May 11th, 2014
Luna, thanx for the update of the Plunderer litter. They were so tiny when our peeps met them at Plunderfest West 2014. We have been concerned about them so the news is appreciated. Leave it to Dawson to say something spicy.
8:25 pm on May 11th, 2014
HOH: Wha’d I say?
8:35 pm on May 11th, 2014
It was supposed to rain today so I put in the onion sets. about 125 of them. I ran out of onions last year so I bought more this year. They are totally around one raised bet and on the short end of another.
Then MrFireslippers and I cut some lumber to make the 2 new 4′ x 8′ raised beds. Soon we will screw them together and maybe we will get them in by the end of the week. It hasn’t rained yet but it is darker than it should be at this time of the evening. The new beds are for tomatoes so we don’t have to rush them. Of course with all the rain going on we may never get our garden in this year.
Early this morning something cut off many leaves of my flat leaf parsley. They left them on the bench by the plant. Grrrr. I don’t know what is was that was so mean but my husband says I should be called mrsFarmer Mcgregor. humph. I just chased some deer out of the yard. I didn’t do anything else. Grump.
I am glad Amalia is back home. I bet she has some nice blue stones with her.
8:41 pm on May 11th, 2014
RIO! Can I come visit? I love the snow!!!!
8:56 pm on May 11th, 2014
Rose!…sniffle!…You can come visit anytime you want…sniff!…But wear a heavy coat, mittens and don’t forget your snow boots…grumble!
9:02 pm on May 11th, 2014
Project!…On a good note, I guess, my friend finally got back to working on a project….sniff!…She has not curled one piece of paper since she finished that last colorful Cockatiel project for a dear friend…wuffle!…Today she finally picked up her little green quilling tool again…snuffle!sneeze!
9:37 pm on May 11th, 2014
Nobody!…Cares. It figures….sniff!
9:43 pm on May 11th, 2014
It’s all hockey all the time. We had the Rangers against the Penguins and then that was over so we now have Chicago against the wild. Along with that Sammie visited then we went on a big long walk and then Maya the Pug was here. I have an exhausted little ball of fur curled up here next to me.
9:46 pm on May 11th, 2014
Dawson, earlier today you told Rio that “Patchy Fur” was two words when he said “in a word”. We thought correcting a pug was spicy and taking one’s life in one’s hands, besides, you didn’t like our Sunday pun (even though it was dreadful)
Rio, so glad to hear your friend is going to start quilling again. How did she stay sane all the long winter?
9:49 pm on May 11th, 2014
Oh dear, our eyelids are reaching for each other. We’re off to dreamland, Nighty night.
10:32 pm on May 11th, 2014
Good night HOH, good night all.
10:44 pm on May 11th, 2014
Mollypop’s Mom: I am watching Chicago/Minnesota. I’m about half hour behind as it’s recorded. It’s a tie game in the second.
2:43 am on May 12th, 2014
I just realized that it is nearly 2 a.m., so I guess I had best head off to bed.
Nitey, nite all.
