Chetspeak on Sunday
We rounded a curve and spotted some dudes in orange jump suits picking up trash by the road side, a sheriff’s van idling behind them, yellow light flashing. Bernie eased off the gas. We’d put a lot of perps into orange jump suits and you never knew when you’d bump into an old pal.
“Hey,” Bernie said. “Isn’t that Frenchie Boutette?”
The little roly-poly dude at the end, poking at a scrap of paper, missing, taking a short break? He glanced our way, recognized the car, easy to tell from how his eyebrows shot up. Yes, Frenchie for sure. We pulled over.
“Frenchie! How’s it going?”
Frenchie looked at Bernie, then at me, and backed away.
“Don’t be shy,” Bernie said. “We’re not going to bite you.”
“Think I’m fallin’ for that line again?” Frenchie said.

Good morning and Happy Chetspeak/Egg Day.
Loved the balloon pics, but Barb shares a fear of heights with Amalia. Never gonna happen in her lifetime!
Even tho Barb does not share the religious beliefs, the First Communion ceremony was lovely and Lyla loved her Madame Alexander doll that Barb had gotten for her.
Cold day here, with rain in the forecast all week. At least the tornados are not coming here. Hope everyone remains safe out there.

The Turtleman made me breakfast.

Good morning, and Happy Egg Day! What better beginning than the opening of our very favorite Chet and Bernie book. Thanks, Chet!
Zeus now knows what Egg Day means, and he likes it. Oh yes he does.
Bear, Eggs Benedict! We have never tasted those, but Mom tells us it is the very best. Sounds yummy.
Hobbit, Mom has had a hot air balloon ride on her bucket list for as long as she had the Iditarod on there. One year, she even gave a gift of one to her brother and her s-i-l. Would youse believe that they never even used it? It was good for one year, but when they never managed to find the time that year, they managed to get it extended. She never heard anything about it, so we assume they wasted it. What a shame. The prior year, her brother gave her a glider plane ride. She and Pop went, but Mom was not thrilled and wishes she could have had the hot air balloon ride instead.
Safe travels to the Staffs. Your farm will smile when you arrive.
11:26 am on April 27th, 2014
CHobbiti: Nice foto of the balloon ride. Mom says she has not had that pleasure (yet) but once flew high in the sky pulled by a speed boat in Mazatlan. She remembers the instructions being somewhat complicated and it being easier getting up in the air than back down on the ground.
Oh, look there’s Riö up top dreaming of being the next FOTM.
HoH: Yes, where is DianeC anyway?
Howlers: “Your farm will smile when you arrive.” I like that.

Thanks Wose, A.J. , Rebecca…

Happy Chetspeak and Zeus’s First Egg Day.
Eggs Benedict is one of my all time favorite breakfasts. That and Huevos Rancheros. Delish!
Happy travels home, Staff. (Alice: Better hide quickly…and don’t forget your tail is hanging out!)
Wose: Good things come in small packages!
CHobbit: Beautiful pictures of the balloon ride! (I did not know there was such a place as Penis Valley.) Don’t jump! Don’t do it!
12:22 pm on April 27th, 2014
Ah, beautiful woman and beautiful dogs. Sniff. Somewhere a purple butterfly is soaring.
12:23 pm on April 27th, 2014
Zoe – you are beautiful! In so many ways.
Thank you Wose.
12:28 pm on April 27th, 2014
Oh phooey! I am being moderated. Probably because I spoke the word that was implied at the Valley of the You Know Whats on CHobbit’s balloon ride.
Zoe: You’re number one! That bib is such a thoughtful gift from Wose who is a most generous little woman with a great big heart. Meatballs to the Newfs!
12:46 pm on April 27th, 2014
Love the picture. Thank you Zoe and Mac and Mattie.
12:49 pm on April 27th, 2014

Decisions!….Now my friend will decide when her and I can move back…heh!heh!…I’m sure that is what is going to happen. Beau can stay here with her mother and I will go live with my friend and we will all live happily ever-after….snort!….That’s my plan anyways…chuffle!
1:02 pm on April 27th, 2014
Purple Butterfly…sniff.
The sun just reappeared after a 3 day jaunt behind-the-clouds! If it stays for awhile Ill go looking for butterflies.
1:07 pm on April 27th, 2014
But, but, but…Rio!
What about all the yummy snacks her mother gives you?! No more dingdongs!?
And those sycamore trees?! They make your friend sick.
And the big potted plant seems to be gone as well. W’sup with that?
1:22 pm on April 27th, 2014
Zoe, thank you so much for sharing a great foto of y’all. Go Zoe, go Rose, go Snowhook.

I was in one of 100 balloons. Not scary at all. Best experience. The name of the valley was the name I gave it for obvious reasons. Not it’s real name. Today was one of “plot twists” as our dear friend would say. Checked into hotel 4 hours late so oodles of noodles
5:17 pm on April 27th, 2014
Hey, where is Macy’s mom? Hope she is ok.
5:46 pm on April 27th, 2014
Thank you for the wonderful photos, Zoe and CHobbit.
Wose, what a kind gesture.
Staff and Mr. Staff, safe travels. It is raining and the wind is blowing gustily here.
Wishes for a relaxed Sunday to everyone.
6:43 pm on April 27th, 2014
Valley!…So what is the real name of that valley CHobbit ballooned over…snort!….Interesting formations….sniff!
6:44 pm on April 27th, 2014
Linda!…It is very windy and spritzing rain type stuff here….grump!…Really annoying. All damned day long too…wheeze!
6:57 pm on April 27th, 2014
Wose, when I was in Alaska I saw another generous gift of yours, the WosenGrizz sled. It is so beautiful I don’t think that AJ should use it. He might get it scratched up.
7:12 pm on April 27th, 2014
Mollypop’s Mom: That sled is already an Iditarod veteran!
Rio: It’s the valley of the you-know-whats! I believe it is near Cappadocia or Goreme.
7:16 pm on April 27th, 2014
Suddenly! rain & hail!
7:20 pm on April 27th, 2014
Dawson, I know the sled was used this year. But I don’t think he should use it anymore. It still looks so beautiful.
7:29 pm on April 27th, 2014
Mollypop’s Mom: Did you see the other sled? The one that didn’t fare so well?
BearSpiritDog: Is Nana eating at regular intervals?
ML: You too. Don’t forget supper tonight!
Hi to Australia and thank you for relinquishing summer
7:33 pm on April 27th, 2014
Dawson, I think I saw pieces of the other sled.
7:33 pm on April 27th, 2014
Home! Yay I am home. It is a terrible mess. Two huge van loads of stuff are spread out all over the main floor. There are some up on the second floor too. It rained and rained all the way. It is cold and blowing strongly here. I am glad to be home. Alice and Abbie got really excited to be home. Abbie is on her favorite place to sit (Mr.Staff)and she and Mr.Staff are watching TV. Baseball Tonight and some show about movies about the future and space when there are commercials.
I think I will go heat up the chicken we bought on the way home. Veggies? Maybe.
BBL
7:41 pm on April 27th, 2014
Staff, Glad you made it home. Are you finding a place for the new sewing machines?
Had some roast turkey, carrots and potatoes. Now time to relax and watch tv.
7:43 pm on April 27th, 2014
MPM, I don’t remember if I saw pictures of the Wosengrizz sled or not. I hope it is beautiful, but I really hope it is functional and helpful to AJ and the team.
7:55 pm on April 27th, 2014
The ‘rents did not see the Wosengrizz sled, because it was already up in McGrath, waiting for AJ. Good thing, too. It was badly needed.
Staff, welcome home.
Morgan Spurlock’s Inside Man is on tonight. It was filmed at the Animal Rescue League in our Reading! It is where both Sasha and Dima were adopted by our farm.
8:25 pm on April 27th, 2014
Hi,all! Better late than never.
C.Hobbit, what a brave woman you are. I don’t think Mom would even make the trip overseas, much less go up in the balloons. She’s not afraid of heights but would wonder how safe they are. Right now, there are too many sights to see stateside, if she and Dad ever get to travel again.
Zoe, what a beautiful picture. You and the dogs look great. Melanie and the rest of the Newfs (and the Raven!) are all smiling at you today.
Rose, you are truly a most generous and caring friend to all of us on the blog. Never small and meek! Use the carrot technique and start feeling better.
Staff, enjoy the farm! Mom knows the joy of being in a home that you love.
Rio, tell your friend to stop and smell the roses. She’s working way to hard right now.
Nana and ML, eat!
Thinking about you, Bluecat.
Everyone, you are loved! Thank you for being my friends.
8:32 pm on April 27th, 2014
Still no ML or DianeC. A bit worried. Hope Siber H is having lots of dusty fun with his people.
8:53 pm on April 27th, 2014
Work!…My friend says all the extra, extra, extra hard work is done as of today….snort!…Yipppeee!…It has been cold and windy here all damned day and I for one am sick of it…grunt!…But now my friend is home from my other house and she says she will not go back until May 1st to pick up a big treatie check…wooooo!hoooooo!…Somehow I feel I should be worriet, but I cannot figure out why…gruffle!
9:15 pm on April 27th, 2014
Dawson: Rest assured…Nana is in good paws.
Where is Macy’s Mom? We haven’t heard from her today.
ML: Please check in…We Worry about you.
Diane is MIA too.
BooBear: We love youse too!
9:20 pm on April 27th, 2014
Staff – so glad you are home safe and sound. Bet you sleep well tonight.
Mama spent all kinds of time yesterday and today making a fancy schmanzy marinated chicken thingie. They had it for dinner and guess what? We all got to have some too – even the Wrotten Kats. Actually, we had it all except for a bite or two. Seems that after all that work, the humans didn’t think too much of the chicken. WE thought it was delish!
Gramp is doing well. We think he may be home this week.
9:24 pm on April 27th, 2014
Riö: So happy to hear you and your friend can take a rest from all the hard work at your other house.
Cold and windy here too but the rain has finally stopped. We are looking forward to some warmer temps in the coming days.
9:31 pm on April 27th, 2014
Gramp is a Champ. He will soon be covered in White Fur & Welcome Home kisses.
We loved Silver Linings Playbook and now are watching American Hustle. Some of the Same Actors are in both films.
Time to make sure Nana is having a good supper.
See youse all tomorrow – Bear
9:42 pm on April 27th, 2014
It has been an exhausting weekend, with so much accomplished. Time to hit the sack. Good night, Zoe. Melanie is close by, and happy that you both have a souvenir of her race.
BooBear, we love you and your mom and dad, and think about you all the time.
Wose, you are a hero. Small maybe, but truly heroic.
Macy, we hope no news is good news, and your mom is off enjoying friendship or family. Give her our love.
BSD, keep up the good work: make sure Nana eats the right foods.
9:59 pm on April 27th, 2014
Exhausting!…Weekend to say the least, for some of us…snort!
Maskers!….What do you and Bear think of “Fargo” so far…heh!heh!…We here are finding it very interesting and very well written. Plus, great actors up the wawzoooo!…chuffle!
10:12 pm on April 27th, 2014
We are saying night all. Hope MaryLou is Ok.
Lots of rain coming here, tonight and maybe all week.
10:16 pm on April 27th, 2014
Never fear, Macy’s Mom is here. I went to church, then Wally World. Came home. ATE lunch, did some stuff. ATE some cereal. Watched “Call the Midwife”. Checked the blog. The end. The canines wandered around the yard, then slept, then wandered some more, now sleeping. One more trip to the yard. Then a big sleep. Yippee.
Just about the only two ladies in my Sunday School class that I don’t really know have invited me to dinner on Tuesday. I should probably eat a vegetable. The last one I had was in the hospital.
Nighty noodles to all. Chobbit, you rock! And those are some interesting rocks, too.
10:23 pm on April 27th, 2014
We are going to treasure the photo of Zoe in AJ’s bib forever. We miss Melanie very much. We can’t help it.
Wose: Belle Starr says the two of you are on hiatus from work. This coming from a girl that hasn’t worked a day in her life, but there you have it. No matter what, you are loved.
10:36 pm on April 27th, 2014
Thieves!….Good to hear from youse!…snort!…So when are you coming over with the next bucket load of hot-wings and beer?…heh!…The weather is frightful, so blubbering or whatever you do is probably out of the question tonight…dammit!…But later this week maybe…slurp!smackle!gurgle!..I’m so hungry I could YEEEEP!
10:50 pm on April 27th, 2014
ML nice to hear from you. We ate also. We did have veggies. Italian Green Beans, chicken and some noodles. I think we are getting ready for bed if I can find my special pillows and my pajamas.
Nighty noodle.
11:02 pm on April 27th, 2014
ML!…Sounds like you might have some new friends on the horizon…chuffle!…Please do go to dinner with them. It may or may not turn out to be a good thing…snuffle!
Staff!…heh!…What a day for all of youse guys!…snort!…Good to hear that all of you landed on target and are semi-sorted out…snort!…Tell Alice she needs to pull her weight. Oh, wait. Tell Abby she needs to pull her weight…heh!heh!
11:17 pm on April 27th, 2014
Riö: We have watched only the first episode of Fargo. Great acting and promising storyline. At the very least it will fill the empty time slot until Justified returns.
Lots of shows to catch up on.
Staff: Glad to hear you and Mr. Staff are safe at the farm…hope you find your special pillow and jammies.
ML: Thanks for checking in.
Nitey-nite.
