Chetspeak on Sunday

Bernie brought the other pipe in from the car, set the two pipes side by side on the kitchen counter. By that time, we had all the water mopped up and everything looked ship-shape, as Bernie put it, but wasn’t Little Jazz a sort of ship? Meaning how could it be car-shaped, or tree-shaped, or any other kind of shape? I puzzled over that and then I didn’t. All I knew for sure was that I was Chet-shaped. Good enough for me, amigo.

“Look pretty much identical to me,” Bernie said. “But one’s good and one’s a piece of crap, although that quote is hearsay from Duke, which is like piling crap on crap.”

I smelled no crap in the vicinity, none at all, which was actually kind of unusual. Piles of crap would not be something I’d miss. But I believed in Bernie. Crap had to be just around the corner.

Welcome Lukas.

Happy Egg Day! It is hard to say which part of that Chetspeak is our favorite. Is it “Chet shaped”? Is it the crap just around the corner? You tell me.

Good morning, everyone! Chetspeak, Egg Day, and we are laughing like crazy here ( if laughter can be crazy). Wow, see what time OFA posted. He must be wide awake and ready. We know it could have nothing to do with the time change. Good to hear from P&L, Junior, Mama Luna, Measka, Kat and some other westerners.
Have a super, superb showy (if cool) Sunday.

Good morning everyone. Barb and the kids were at the neighbors till late. She needs to go back and read the prayer from last night, because we missed it. Kids were having fun, so they just came home and piled into bed.

Now it is time for blueberry pancakes, and maybe an egg for moi! Kids are out the door in an hour, so we will have a splendid, soothing Sunday.

Thank you Rebecca and Rio for the prayer. We add our Amen and sniffle to those already expressed.

Beautiful sunny day here. The color of our new October Glory maple is just magnificent. It is a vibrant rusty red and can be seen from our den window. The neighbor’s beautiful clump birch is dropping leaves steadily was we watch. Probably one more week and most of the trees will be bare.

Oleys, have you gotten an egg yet from your little girls? And you mentioned goats – what will you do with them? Are they strictly to look at, or will your mom start making goat cheese?

“Chet Shaped” Love that. My soul is “Melanie Shaped” and that is perfect for me.

I had eggs this morning! On the floor. Today has started as a Slippery Sunday.

So far: eggs on the floor, milk on the floor, bread on the floor . .

    Yup, I’m making French Toast.

Regarding goats: Mom thinks they would make great pets, with the added benefit of milk. She googled goats and huskies and found several articles that convinced her otherwise.

Oh! And no eggs here yet. The Girls will be 5 months old this Wednesday. Mom says the first egg should arrive any time after that, but Could take another 4 weeks!
Yesterday, she made curtains for the nest boxes. She read how hens appreciate dark and privacy to lay. She also read that when one hen starts laying, it is best that the others don’t see that happen because of the possibility of pecking. We do know (suspect) who will be laying first!

Fern, it is a big responsibility. I am glad you have curtains. I am wondering if I should mention one of our hens that decided to raise chicks on her own. She was laying a clutch under the house. Chicks arrived unannounced. She was a very good mother.

Riö, I have seen your comment on the novel “Grass”. I like her books. Not sure how I missed that one. It is now ordered.

Princess Sammy, That is an adorable picture. You are two lucky girls.

Oleys, Tell you mom that it is a real treat and very interesting to watch a hen lay an egg. It is sort of like labor, only the poor girl does it every day (almost). They breath hard, push and then they actually stand up and the egg drops out with a soft thud!

57*F here near the Scenic City with a light breeze. The leaves are turning and falling. Mom took her book out to the screen room to read a bit only to find that darling Darah the drippy wanted to sit on/aroung her after going into the fish pond. She is revising her plan for the afternoon as we speak. Some of the Plunderers have been real quiet lately…where are y’all?

Hi all, very glad the Pack decided not to go swimming. It is 38 degrees outside. Went for a walk. Met the new neighbors. They apologized for having a dumpster in the driveway. snort! Not sure where they came from but around here if you need a dumpster you get one. We’re getting one in the spring.

Then I cleaned a closet. I now have to get trash bags. One for goodwill, and one for ‘you have got to be kidding me’.

I did find my Winter Stormy Kromer Hat and mittens. AND my Snowhook gater thingy.

I do not have teflon floors. I have Newfs!

Speaking of the Pack, they have decided they all want a cushion and a seat. Rolling eyes here.

The latest episode of Elementary alludes to Conan Doyle’s story “Silver Blaze” that includes this dialogue:

Gregory (Of Scotland Yard): “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”
Holmes: “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”
Gregory: “The dog did nothing in the night-time.”
Holmes: “That was the curious incident.”

I have finally finished the quilt for my new grand neice, Madelyn Jean. This is a picture of it. Mr.Staff’s fingers on the upper edge…

It is very windy here today so Mr.Staff and I had to go around to the north side of the house and hold it up in the shade. I am sure it would be much brighter in the sunlight. sniff
Teal is the color requested. And owls. If you want to know what is ‘cool’ with the younger set right now it is owls and teal. heh heh heh

Rio, The owls were on the receiving blankets I sent for her shower. She wasn’t telling if the baby was a boy or a girl so I found some owl fabric in a blue or a pink colorway and put them back to back. She liked it. There were no owls in teal color which is what she wanted for the quilt.

That is why there are sunflowers in the quilt. It was teal! No, sorry I did not send you the sunflower topiary. I do remember Dawson having sunflower woes this summer though. sniff. However I have no inside information on that.

Lou lou is terribly cute. No wonder Sammie is annoyed. Poor baby.

We have another neighbor, 2 miles away, who is very responsible and will help out. But she really doesn’t approve of ‘animals in the house.’Sigh. What is a kat to do?

We just got a funny email today. This is funny but seems to be true. Sit and lift your right foot and turn in a circle clockwise. Now take your right hand and draw a figure 6 in the air. Your foot CAN NOT keep going clockwise-no matter how hard you try it will start going counter clockwise! Try it!

We just saw someone on tv who had the theory that Oswald was really gunning for the gov of Texas and not Kennedy. He had a grudge against him due to his discharge from the military.
