Chetspeak on Sunday

“Perro loco,” he said. He raised the gun. I saw down the barrel, a small round space, black and empty. Bernie’s voice spoke inside me at last: Run, big guy. But I couldn’t. Somehow that tiny black emptiness had me frozen in place. That thick over-sized trigger finger started to squeeze.

And at that moment came a surprise. Somehow, without making any noise, or at least not any that I heard, Peanut was on her feet, and not only on her feet but – you couldn’t call it running, maybe, more like lumbering – yes, lumbering with surprising speed, up and at ‘em but even more so than I could have dreamed, and heading right in the perp’s direction; dudes who point guns at me are perps, case closed.

Good morning, and Happy Egg Day! Our hens are once again supplying us in the manner to which we believe we should be accustomed.
We just caught up on yesterday’s posts. Thank you to all who are voting Husky each day in June, and especially to that great Double Dawson, that made us get a good laugh on a Sunday morning! Hah!

I am supposed to be gardening but instead am sitting in front of the computer. I found this interesting site where ancient Greece meets modern veteran’s of war.

Hey everybody! Peanut is one of our favorite guests to the Chet & Bernie books. The peeps had their first of the season BBQ party. We were so good except for Darah Thea who climbed, that’s right CLIMBED, onto the dining room table and stole a big ole hamburger with bacon ????. Mom was livid, and in front of company.
We have been told to mind our “p’s” and “q’s” or we will get locked out of the next party. It was only Darah, honest.
Dawson, liked the veterans site. CHobbitz, like the pencils better.
Rio and friend, hope all went well at the memorial and that friend arrives home safely.
    Howlers, we voted for you…all!

Alive!…I am happy to report that no one was kilt today while my friend and her mother were off gallivanting across the country…snort!…She made sure the gate between our room and all the other Lab’s rooms was good and sturdy. Thank dawg!…sneeze!

Key!…Tomorrow my friend may or may not get the keys to my little red and white house….sniff!…She did pick up paint samples, so that is encouraging…heh!heh!

So glad Rio’s friend and mother are home safely but even better is the key and paint sample news. If we could add crossed eyes to the toes and tailed we would.

Wose, as of today weren’t enough, tonight she has been sitting on mom’s lap looking for love. We think she is pushing it just a wee bit (apologies to Wee Nigel for the “Wee” bit.

Hobbit!…Do you own those pencils or are they a photo you found on the web?…sniff!sniff!…I should say they would do well for an auction for the Snowhook Kennel. If indeed things ever settle down hear and I can once again be in charge of a auction. And a Vat O’ Beer!…grunt!

    Howlers!…Good luck!…snort!

Home! Our source says that she received a text from the Giant that he is on his way home from the glacier for a few days! We wonder if they will recognize each other.

I have been working in the garden for a few days. I still have one raised bed to work on. I want to buy a bit more manure to add to it. I already added one bag of the wonderful peat that I buy at Bergeson’s Nursery near Fertile MN.
Bergeson’s owns some land (in NW Minnesota) with peat bogs in it and harvests and sells that peat. It is a rich mahogany brown and slightly moist when you pour it our of the bag. It looks good enough to eat.
They plant all their plants in that peat and do not use the 4 or 6 packs. It is just a single flat with the 4 or six seedlings in it. When you plant from one of their flats you gently pull the peat apart and the roots are not all compacted but are perfectly spread out and just right to plant.

    Are you jealous yet Barb?

I know I am! Peat envy! I bought 4 bags of steer manure today. A neighbor down the road has chickens but I didn’t want to wait. I still have some Addi plants to get started.

So glad it’s June. Am looking forward to the Right Stuff!
