Chetspeak on Sunday

“Snow, big guy.”

Snow? I’d heard of it, of course, seen it lots of times on TV during the divorce, when for some reason Bernie had really gotten into skiing videos. The snow sent coldness up into the air. I sniffed at it. Snow went right up my nose! I sneezed. Bernie laughed. I licked at the snow. It turned into water on my tongue, although not much water. Bernie picked some up and patted it – hey! – patted it into the shape of a ball. Yes! One thing about Bernie: just when you think he’s done with amazing you, he amazes you again. Now, after all this time, I was just finding out he could turn snow into a ball.

    Greetings!

    Good morning, HOH!

    I love today’s Chetspeak!!

About 2 or 3 inches of snow fell in this neck of the woods yesterday. All the snow will most likely be hard and crunchy, since the temps took a real nose-dive overnight.

Today is food shopping day. Something tells me that a lot of people will be eating French toast this morning, as I am expecting the market will be low on bread, milk, and eggs. You would think we were living in the 1800’s…people here always seem to panic as soon as the first flake falls.

Nurse Meash: I watched the Menendez story Friday on ABC On-Demand. That was one messed-up family!

RIO! First Beau modeling in an EVe’s Addiction jewelry ad. Now you on the cover of the “New Yorker” magazine! Heh!

I hope Beau will be feeling tip-top soon (and hoping your Friend can get those drops in Beau’s eyes! Yikes!).

    Good Sunday to all!

    Good morning all.

Bernie is amazing, Chet, as are you. Thanks for the Chetspeak start to the day.

Our snow is only good for making snowballs once or twice a year when the temperatures are warmer. Mostly it does not stick together but flows like sugar.

    Enjoy your day!

    That Bernie, he is amazing!

I did not watch the Menendez show either, but will try to find it On Demand later. I heard that it was good.

HOH, what happened with the puppy that your S son found the other day. Did he keep it or find the owners?

Dear Rio, I am glad you are happy with your New Yorker magazine. I was extremely careful in packing it so it would arrive safely.

I made my first balloon luminaries of the season on Friday. It only took 5 hours to freeze them.

Yesterday I put out my plastic hexagon luminary forms intending to release the ice before I went to bed. At 6 a.m. I remembered them. Sheesh it is cold out at 6 a.m. I went out and released them and one was broken. Drat! But one was still whole so I will be able to make more. I break those darn plastic ones quite reliably. Dawson will understand.

BMALS, S-son is keeping “Nook Nook”. (So he says) If he does it will be the first of his adult life. He has problems with furever and commitment.

Hello All–After successive storms, we’ve had two dry-ish days which have been appreciated. another pair of storms are due beginning tomorrow which is fine w/me as long as I don’t have to drive anywhere.
HOH–No acquifer, but I’m hoping for some groundwater restoration.
Others–You may laugh, but I do have some sense of the here-toady-gone-tomorrow snow phenomenon. Two days ago the mountains north of the basin were blanketed in white (and pretty far down). Today they’re normal mountain color again. I can’t wait to see what happens next week.
Yesterday I became aware of how many people from the operatic world departed this plane last year. I was particularly stunned to hear of Johan Botha’s death at 51. I had only recently grown to appreciate his artistry, owing to his size (and I am now very sorry for every unkind remark I made about that). “A large man — “I’ve done every diet you can think of,” he once told The A.P. — Mr. Botha could be a stolid, if genial, presence onstage.”
We also mourn the passing of Tillikum–an orca with a torubled past.

…that should have been “…a pair of storms IS due”
I’m sorry about going on about Mr. Botha like that, but I felt the need to tell someone…

Chet is quite attentive. I recall once going rock climbing in one of our protected desert areas. It was winter and there was snow, which I thought would be a treat for the dog (the late great Duke) but like many male Lhasas, he was quite unimpressed (I don’t think he even noticed).
How could you not notice something like this?

DianeC, thank you for the JTree in snow fotos. Mom and her 1st hubby used to climb there on all seasons. One year they took a cinemafotography class at CSUF and planned to use JTree for it. To their chagrin, it snowed! A quick change of script and…voila! A melodramatic comedy. At least they passed the class.
The really wonderful thing about climbing there! You can walk down instead of rappelling ????

Addi has will undergo s heart cath on Wednesday….this will give her doctors an indication of heart functionality. She will need a total of three more open heart surgeries and the next one will be in Feb or March. Each surgery will make her heart more stable, but the procedures themselves are extremely risky.
