Chetspeak on Sunday
“I’m sorry?” Bernie said.
“Lord means the Robideaus coulda said it went down wherever they want,” Duke said. “Lord being blacked out, and all.”
“You’re saying they framed you?” Bernie said.
“Square one, for Chrissake,” said Lord. “Wet behind the ears? What’s with Baron, thinkin’ we could use someone like you to – “
“Lord?” said Duke.
Lord went silent, although I can’t be sure about that because all I wanted to do was give the backs of Bernie’s ears a quick lick or two, check out this supposed wetness. He hadn’t just stepped out of the shower, but we had been in out in the rain. Still, I myself was completely dry. I shifted closer to Bernie, waiting for the right moment.
“Someone like me to do what?” Bernie said.
“Um,” Lord said.
“Nothin’,” said Duke. “Lord was just runnin’ his mouth. Tell ‘im.”
“I was just runnin’ my mouth,” Lord said.
Bernie drained his glass, glanced at me in a strange sort of way, almost like … like he wanted to see something real. What a thought! I couldn’t understand it at all.

Gooood morning, everyone! Chetspeak, Egg Day, Simply Sunday. Feeling tip top. Life is good 🙂
8:59 am on October 13th, 2013
Good Morning HOH and Everyone.
I’m with Bernie. Sometimes I just have to look at the Pack to see something real.
Terry, sorry to hear about your mother. Didn’t someone else have a mother on a historic Women’s Softball team?
Terry’s mom was with the A1 Queens. Cool
9:05 am on October 13th, 2013
Wow! Ladies’ ball. How cool is that?
9:08 am on October 13th, 2013
Good morning – warm thoughts to all.
Love the pictures of Snowhook puppies training. Thanks, AJ. Hi, Bella.
Rio – I binged on Breaking Bad so I could watch the finale. I still get chills when I think of the scene in her kitchen, how he appeared and what he said. By the way, you’ll really enjoy House of Cards. And tell Beau we’ll be watching when Peyton comes back next week. Please remember he was our guy before he was your guy…
9:09 am on October 13th, 2013
Good morning Chet and all.
10:01 am on October 13th, 2013
Good morning everyone.
Today is Paul Simon’s (Simon and Garfunkel) birthday.
And there is a very special birthday party for a Very Special Lady later today.
Food will be involved.
10:03 am on October 13th, 2013
Good morning, and Happy Egg Dar, tho Dima was less than thrilled.
Did we really see The Team pulling AJ’s truck thru what looked like a river?!!!
10:19 am on October 13th, 2013
Good morning all, and Happy Egg Day, although there were no eggs appearing here this morning.
Barb is heading out to buy 3 more bushes and 1 hosta for the back landscaping project, and then it will be finished. She has a space that needs to be filled and has decided on My Monet Sunset Weigela to fill the spot.
12:07 pm on October 13th, 2013
Spence: The wet behind the ears scene. I love it.
AJ: Great pictures of you and the team although SiberH will not like that first one.
Happy birthday to an amazing woman, the one and only Zoe!
12:19 pm on October 13th, 2013
AJ Thanks for the cool photos. The team is looking good. I could do that if I just had a small boat.
Happy Birthday to Zoe!! Husky Birthday Hugs!!
Barb, Anne Hillerman’s book went in at #10 on the New York Times bestseller list.
Mom says hanging out with the Huskies at the dog park is the best part of her day….real, just like Bernie said. Not that we pay much attention to anything the two-leggeds say.
1:04 pm on October 13th, 2013
I am not sure why but AJ had TWO teams hitched up to the pickup. Maybe to pull them through some water? Maybe because one of the 4-wheelers had a flat? I am not sure this link will work but someone named Tim Krause put up a short video.
Warning, lot of barking ahead.

Ah, further on it says that it was a flat on the 4 wheeler. Heh heh heh. Here is another video that Melanie linked to.

Happy Birthday Zoe. Enjoy your day with the family surrounding you. Positive thoughts for Melanie.
Did anyone else notice in the ear licking scene that Chet said they had not gone far after leaving the bar before he reached over and licked Bernie’s ear? They had walked the 3 blocks to the bar, so we wondered how he did that without jumping up. Reaching over could only have happened if they were in the Porsche. Did we miss something?
1:15 pm on October 13th, 2013
Staff, Thanks for the video links.
1:33 pm on October 13th, 2013
Oh my. Got to Melanie’s house where chaos reigned. Seems a certain member of the Pack had just eaten Zoe’s birthday cake.
All of it.
The entire thing.
Oh dear.
Forced splorting is involved.
1:44 pm on October 13th, 2013
Did the Pack get a new member named Chaos? An entire cake by himself?—is like to meet that guy.
1:53 pm on October 13th, 2013
Oh no!
A special birthday chaos reigns at the house of Newf. Never a dull moment. Which dog ate the cake?
1:56 pm on October 13th, 2013
gasp, Did Franklin eat the cake?
2:03 pm on October 13th, 2013
Siber wins! It was Franklin.
He is no longer speaking to Melanie.
Or Zoe.
And he wants another cake.
2:05 pm on October 13th, 2013
SiberH: I would need a large boat for that river crossing. Like you, I don’t care for the water.
The four-wheeler still has a flat so two teams were hooked up to the truck. It is another way of training.
2:20 pm on October 13th, 2013
Franklin! Oh no, that cake was pure chocolate, wasn’t it?
2:21 pm on October 13th, 2013
Why forced splorting? Was chocolate involved?
2:22 pm on October 13th, 2013
I’m sorry that I haven’t been on the blog much lately. I’ve been busy with Social Media.

2:47 pm on October 13th, 2013
Oh, Franklin….
2:52 pm on October 13th, 2013
Tupper and Gilly…Really? Not a joke? OH my Dog!
2:53 pm on October 13th, 2013
Yes it was chocolate. I remember Melanie posting about Chocolate and chocolate and chocolate all the way through.
Goodness.
3:03 pm on October 13th, 2013
Oh Frank, you silly guy!
3:14 pm on October 13th, 2013
Greetings!
Kat, I am laughing at your post,
A.J., Love the photos of you and the team!!
Oh, Franklin!
3:21 pm on October 13th, 2013
Did they get Franklin to splort successfully?
3:35 pm on October 13th, 2013
Oh my, yes.
They didn’t know that Franklin had also eaten the plastic cover.
Oh Frank.
(He’s fine. Empty, but fine)
3:46 pm on October 13th, 2013
BelleStarr is a very polite sportier…not too much and on cardboard that the movers laid down to protect the floor. Well trained indeed.
3:50 pm on October 13th, 2013
(from Darah:) Oh Frank, I just don’t know what to say. I am enamored of you but you need to stop with the chocolate! Mom told me it taste good but will make us ( of the nation within) sick as dogs!
4:03 pm on October 13th, 2013
Truckin!….Hey, that’s one way to keep that Truck moving…heh!heh!…Is that the A-Team and the B-Team or are all those guys trying to be picked for the A-Team?…chuffle!…Great Foto’s and Videos…snort!
4:04 pm on October 13th, 2013
Cake!…And splorting up Cake!…zow!… I wonder how Franklin managed to nab the whole cake…heh!heh!…If only there were a video of that!
4:06 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sneeze!….Da Broncos game is on! Da Broncos game is on!…wheeze!
4:08 pm on October 13th, 2013
Wonder if Frankie got a big dose of hydrogen peroxide? No wonder he is mad. It didn’t taste as good as the cake!
Melanie’s roast chicken with potatoes and carrots sounded so good that we are doing the same today. Not in the crock pot, however.
4:16 pm on October 13th, 2013
Snort! Sneeze!….Dose Broncos already got a touchdown….chorkel!…Da first of very many, I do suspect…eh!heh!heh!…sneeze!
4:19 pm on October 13th, 2013
Hydrogen peroxide? Is that what you are supposed to use? I would have had to call Poison Control.
4:23 pm on October 13th, 2013
We harvested the last of the tomatoes, and pulled those plants out. We covered that bed, and the other empty bed, with leaves. We still have 3 pepper plants left, and lots of wonderful lettuce.
After the work in the garden, we all went for a walk. Dang! It is hot! Mom’s has a hurt foot, and Dima is feeling poorly, so we think they were both good sports for walking. Now Pop is marinating some beef tips for kabobs a little later.
4:36 pm on October 13th, 2013
Beau, I suspect the same thing about the Broncos game today.
Mom has known vets to recommend hydrogen peroxide to get a dog to splort…yuck
4:39 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sneeze!….Touchdown number two!…eh!heh!heh!…sneeze!…Dis game is not going ta be as exciting as last weeks game….grunt!
4:44 pm on October 13th, 2013
Apparently hydrogen peroxide is the most recommended splorter upper causing cure. You administer 1 teaspoon for every 10 pounds of dog. Then walk the dog and if in 15 minutes nothing has happened you do the same does a second time. If in 15 minutes still nothing, you need to call the vet.
Frank decided that one does was quite enough.
Thank dog
4:59 pm on October 13th, 2013
Soooo….no cake? 🙁
5:01 pm on October 13th, 2013
Dawson!….There is cake, just not in a form anyone wants to eat…heh!heh!
5:02 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sneeze!…Now da score is 14 ta 3…sniff!…I thought it was going to be a blow-out – but not so far…snuffle!
5:04 pm on October 13th, 2013
Cake!…All this talk of cake is making me very hungry…snort!…Beau thinks because it is Sunday he can control the laptop…sniff!…I don’t think so.
5:04 pm on October 13th, 2013
Thank you, T&G. I will save that advice.
Poor Zoe. Poor, poor Zoe. That makes me want a chocolate cake.
5:23 pm on October 13th, 2013
Actually – One of Zoe’s grandsons came to the rescue. He contacted a bakery near his home and reserved a number if gluten free desserts they had. So he arrived bearing boxes of individual cake slices.
And a big box of chocolates, just for Zoe.
What a great family.
5:28 pm on October 13th, 2013
I am a counter cruiser myself, but have never had to take any of that nasty stuff. I mostly grab a sandwich or hamburger bun that is sitting too close to the edge. Barb knows how incorrigible I am, so she takes no chances with anything dangerous.
Oleys, Barb just picked another tomato and some more beans for dinner. That one Yellow Pear plant still has 200-300 little tomatoes on it. They are just rotting and falling to the ground, because Barb is sick of picking them.
6:02 pm on October 13th, 2013
Barb, now I feel I can admit that we too are sick and tired of too many tomatoes. We also got sick of picking picking picking those wonderful Italian Roma II green beans this summer. As a result we have many seeds to share with you.
And I never got the garlic into the garden. Do you think it is too late for me to plant it? We had a light frost last night. Three weeks late.
6:04 pm on October 13th, 2013
Jeeze Louise! One day with OUT drama. That’s all I ask!
Franklin is fine. Yes, he ate an entire 10″ double layer chocolate cake with butter cream frosting. Hershey’s kisses and spun chocolate on the top. It was gorgeous.
It was not gorgeous coming out the other way.
Being an old hand on the Art of Getting Newfs to Splort, I have kept 3 HUGE bottles of the stuff around since the last time. That time consisted of YSAS and I getting SIX Newfs to splort and counting the pills that came up.
Shudder.
Now it would be 15 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide to get in his mouth and down his throat. Yeah, right. Zoë helped with this. She got him to open his mouth, I take the bottle and put it in his mouth, and then we slam his mouth shut and stroke his throat.
He then got the “inward” look. I walked him around and he splorted a bit. Enough to see some chocolate cake. He sported 4 times until his breakfast came up. THEN he wanted to do a second round of cake! Shudder.
All Hershey’s kisses, spun chocolate and plastic wrap accounted for.
My eye has developed a twitch.
6:07 pm on October 13th, 2013
Barb, that’s how Mom felt. She was happy to see the last of the tomatoes, and 4 pepper plants were tossed because she got tired of those too: jalapeño, habanero, and 2 gypsies ( one was supposed to be a purple beauty). We still have 3 other pepper plants that we are enjoying.
6:08 pm on October 13th, 2013
Besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the birthday?
A Great time was had by all. T & G’s Mom’s Gluten Free Lasagna was a hit.
The cake brought by the Engineer Nephew was wonderful.
My guys put in a new gate for the play yard and fixed my walking poles. YSAS and LLL made a delicious salsa. OTAS’s soup is for tomorrow at lunch.
College Nephew is taking YSAS and LLL to the train station. OTAS is staying here one more night.
Not sure if I’m going to want my coco in the morning.
Is it midnight yet?
6:11 pm on October 13th, 2013
Melanie, it is so unfair to you and to Zoe that this carpola continues. You have our sympathies, Girl.
Meantime, Dima has not eaten a lick since who knows when. We are all extremely depressed here.
6:12 pm on October 13th, 2013
OOOOooooOOOoooooHHHHhhhhhhh, Poor Melanie. If it weren’t for bad luck…you know.
6:14 pm on October 13th, 2013
Geez and the O’Howlers too. sniff.
6:18 pm on October 13th, 2013
Dima, eat something, BUT NOT CHOCOLATE CAKE!
For those of you with green tomatoes, we will be trying this when our life gets more sane.
http://www.holycowvegan.net/2013/08/green-tomato-stew.html
6:20 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sorry to hear about Dima not eating. Not good, dude! Go eat your dinner!
Staff, would love some Italian bean seeds. Our pole beans were the big produces this year. Bush beans are long gone, but the 20 seeds Barb planted around 2 tomato cages are still going strong. We will probably have a few more till the first frost kills the plants.
6:23 pm on October 13th, 2013
Melanie!….Riotous fun!…snort!…I can’t help it I had to laugh out loud while reading your account of chocolate cake…snort!… I feel sorry for Franklin – he even lost his breakfast over this whole thing…wheeze!
6:25 pm on October 13th, 2013
Tomatoes!…Seriously, my friend got about 7 whole tomatoes off of two plants this summer…grunt!…Many times she had to stop and wonder what the hell her mother had mixed in the dirt for the pots…sniff!
6:27 pm on October 13th, 2013
Barb and Maggie you are on my list to get some Bean seeds. Rio (really Beau) is on my list for Zinnia’s. So is Melanie. Waiting for a hard frost to harvest those.
6:28 pm on October 13th, 2013
Dima!….Pal, what’s up with this not eating stuff?….grunt!….You cannot just stop eating, no way!…puffle!
6:30 pm on October 13th, 2013
Walk!…At half-time we all went for a long walk….snort!….Beau was beside himself and wanted to get home as quick as possible…gasp!…His Broncos are still ahead in the 4th quarter..heh!
6:38 pm on October 13th, 2013
Chocolate cake splort….eeeewww. Hope Franklin feels better. Glad that Zoe’s day was saved.
Dima, come on big guy, you have to eat something.
CHobbit, I can’t imagine Belle Starr splorting any other way but politely.
6:40 pm on October 13th, 2013
I am watching the Broncos game.
6:40 pm on October 13th, 2013
Update from Sister in Law,
Was not a reaction to the shots! They did not put a bandaid on the puncture area and bacteria got in.
She got Cellulitis! She is now on an anti-biotic and is doing much better.
Shudder. WHERE WAS THE FREAKING BANDAID!
6:47 pm on October 13th, 2013
Poor, poor Franklin! All he wanted was his share of cake! How did you know to start with Franklin? Were none of the others suspects? Also, Mom sort of figured that it was continual eating of chocolate that was bad, not just one “dose”.
Loved the picture of AJ and the teams pulling the truck. Bet they were having a big time! AJ, please keep the pics coming.
6:48 pm on October 13th, 2013
SiberH!….I don’t think even you can jinx the Broncos this season….heh!heh!…They seem pretty invincible…snort!
6:51 pm on October 13th, 2013
Have any of y’all had the shingles vaccine? Mom is considering it. Dad had a bad case of the shingles a couple of years ago (on the head and face..shudder) and Mom is paranoid and wants the vaccine. She never get the flu shot, but never gets the flu either. Maybe she should treat the threat of shingles the same way.
6:56 pm on October 13th, 2013
BooBear, Mom got the shingles vaccine. She had no problems with it. Your mom does not want a case of the shingles.
Mom got the shingles vaccine several years before she started getting the flu shot once a year.
We aren’t worried about Franklin anymore, Thank Dog, but we are worried about Dima. Please eat, Dima.
6:57 pm on October 13th, 2013
I am invited to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings so catch you later. 🙂
6:58 pm on October 13th, 2013
Dima, you really need to eat!
7:00 pm on October 13th, 2013
Melanie, Mom just learned another good lesson from the blog. She has always poo-pood the idea of the bandages they put on after a shot. She won’t do that anymore, no sir.
7:02 pm on October 13th, 2013
Turkey!…Am I the only one who thinks Dawson is one of the luckiest people on earth?…grunt!
7:05 pm on October 13th, 2013
Broncos!….Have kicked butt again…heh!heh!…They winnit 35 ta 19 today…snort!
7:16 pm on October 13th, 2013
Thank Dog for late plants. We love late garllic, onion, pepper. and others. 🙂
7:23 pm on October 13th, 2013
Dima: We have extra Slim Jims under the Quilt. Help yourself.
7:33 pm on October 13th, 2013
Staff, We think you can still plant your garlic. A couple of years ago we missed a few plants and did not dig them out in the fall. Next spring they came up. Garlic seems to be pretty hardy.
7:38 pm on October 13th, 2013
Yikes, I just read about Cellulitis. I think I will not get that please.
Dima, food is good. Sometimes it is hard to eat it but please do. Hugs from all the kats.
7:47 pm on October 13th, 2013
CHobbit!…If you are not on the road again, check your SDD…snort!
7:51 pm on October 13th, 2013
Poor Dawson. I hate turkey.
Mom tried bits of beggin strips in with my ground beed and steak tips. No dice, Amigo.
Now excuse me while I go back to zoning out.
7:55 pm on October 13th, 2013
BooBear, Mom says to thank you for the reminder. Pop had shingles too, and it was very painful. Ever since Mom heard about the vaccine, she has wanted to get it, but forgets. Now she made a mental note (yeah like that’s gonna work) to ask for the vaccine if she ever remembers to schedule her physical.
8:07 pm on October 13th, 2013
Well, Loulou came over again today and we played and played. Y’know, she just keeps coming here. What can I do? I might even like her a little.
8:14 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sam, That is a beginning.
Beau, SUPERBOWL!
You can get the shingles vaccine at Walgreens.
8:24 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sammie, I am glad that you are starting to get along with LouLou. She isn’t all that bad, is she???
8:25 pm on October 13th, 2013
Beau, Are the Broncos first in their division?
8:29 pm on October 13th, 2013
Tenzing: How is your lady feeling. Please make sure she goes to the doctor!
8:30 pm on October 13th, 2013
Mom got eery injection imaginable after her splenectomy. Soooo if one can be injected against something, mom has been injected against it. She never had a shot before this year!
8:40 pm on October 13th, 2013
Rio: checked and responded.
I went and got my hair washed and styled. I felt a wee bit of water going into my ear while being shampooed. It’s been five hours and it is still there. Gah!
8:46 pm on October 13th, 2013
Wose: I’m keeping my Lady under the Quilt. She was supposed to head back on the road for work today. When she realized she wasn’t doing any better this morning when she woke up, she decided to cancel the trip. Right now, I’m being her pillow as well as Dima’s pillow. Franklin has dropped by the Quilt looking for snacks in the form of cake. Poor bloke, had to part with his food.
8:49 pm on October 13th, 2013
Sammie, I guess it’s best to get along with little LouLou. Just make sure when you stay with MPM, you still get your soft boiled egg. And don’t think about the fact that LouLou gets one every day!!!
8:50 pm on October 13th, 2013
Rose!…Beau is upstairs sleeping in the living room…snort!…He had way too much excitement and a long walk today so he is out for the count…heh!….The Broncos are 6 – 0 right now. Kansas City is also 6 – 0…grunt!…So they are tied for first…grunt!
8:54 pm on October 13th, 2013
CHobbit!…Lie down with the ear that has the water init on your pillow…sniff!…The water will eventually drain out…grunt!…My friend has this problem sometimes.
8:55 pm on October 13th, 2013
RIO! Thanks for the update. Go Broncos!
8:55 pm on October 13th, 2013
Mr. Tenzing!….Thank Dawg someone in that family has some good sense…sniff!…Keeping Rebecca home to go see her doctor and then rest and get better is the smartest thing I’ve heard in a while now…grunt!…Good Job!
8:57 pm on October 13th, 2013
Tenzing, I am glad you are in charge of the Quilt, for the reasons Rio said!
8:59 pm on October 13th, 2013
Rio: I did that for two hours. No dice. On the upside I am we’ll-rested.
9:01 pm on October 13th, 2013
We are worried about Tenzing’s lady. She has been sick quite a while. Dima said he will give her his Slim Jims. And Tenzing, thanks for being his pillow. Dima always needs a pillow when he sleeps.
Sammie, it is good that you can tolerate LouLou. Otherwise, MPM would stop inviting you, and only LouLou would get those eggs.
Nighty night everyone.
9:01 pm on October 13th, 2013
CHobbit!….Have you done the headstand against the wall trick yet?…sniff!
9:05 pm on October 13th, 2013
Rio: I like to think I’m the brains of this here operation.
9:14 pm on October 13th, 2013
Mr. Tenzing!… Think? I know you are the brains by golly…snort!…I bet you came up with the Tie-Two-Teams-To-The-Truck idea too!…heh!…Now that baby will keep running all season…chuffle!
9:17 pm on October 13th, 2013
Game!…We just tuned into the Tigers vs Red Sox play-off game…heh!heh!…I love October Baseball. Back in the day we used to call it Rocktober when the Rockies were in the play-off games…sniff!….Those were the days.
9:19 pm on October 13th, 2013
Rio: It’s difficult to say who had the Tie-Two-Teams-To-The-Truck idea—AJ or me. I may be the brains, but he and I are equally matched when it comes to looks and braun—it is easy to get us confused.
9:26 pm on October 13th, 2013
Brilliant!….I know you are being humble pal. It is a brilliant idea. After pulling the weight of that truck around the Team will be able to pull the fully packed brand new sled around easy as Pie or Cake!…heh!
9:29 pm on October 13th, 2013
Score!…Well, the score between the Tigers and the Red Sox is STILL 1 ta Nuthing…heh!…Same as last night.
9:30 pm on October 13th, 2013
Nighty noodles all. Be back tomorrow bright and early.
9:33 pm on October 13th, 2013
B&M: Nighty, night.
Rio: Junior was on the truck pulling team. If I’m not mistaken, his eyebrows were on the team, too.
9:36 pm on October 13th, 2013
Nighty noodle back at you, Barb and Maggie.
I like the pull the truck idea also. That truck should be useful…snicker.
9:37 pm on October 13th, 2013
Eyebrows!…I thought I saw Junior’s eyebrows on the truck….snort!
9:47 pm on October 13th, 2013
Rio: headstand? What? Not me, amigo.
Hmmm… Dark chocolate makes dogs very sick. I get really sick when I eat dark chocolate. Therefore I am part dog.
Rio: did you see Junior’s eyebrows ON the truck or iIN the truck? He might start showing his pug tendencies. Snort
9:59 pm on October 13th, 2013
Kool!…Pin!…snort!…It is attached to the Auction Item I got from CHobbit!…chuffle!
9:59 pm on October 13th, 2013
Mommy and Daddy have been teaching me all about this here civil disobedience thing they say just by our taking wonderful one long walks in the most beautiful park in the whole world. But if civil disobedience is a good thing why does Mommy get upset when I am disobedient??? ‘Rents, can’t live without em but they can be hard to understand. I also have been meeting wonderful playmates like my new buddy Bently. He was an Austrlian sheepdog and he and I ran and ran and chest bumped and did I say we ran and ran?
We went to a thing called a craft fair and Mommy said she though Ms Amalia could have done really really well there since her things are so very pretty. I liked meeting her and Mr Storyteller also. He told me a secret story and I’m not supposed to tell.
I want all my blog friends to take care of themselves. Franklin ask them to have vanilla cake next time. Dima you need to find something that makes your tummy feel good same as for Ms Rebecca
Your friend Teddy RR

How did we know it was Frankiln . .
1. He spent 30 minutes trying to charm a sandwitch from LLL.
2. He can open the gate.
3. Being the tallest he has remarkable abilities at countersurfing.
4. He can be come invisable.
5. His stomach poofed out!
The Patriots won their game. I believe OTAS is now watching th Red Sox.
LLL’s parents want them to come visit them. But that is a ten hour drive. One way. They are looking forward to having a weekend in their new apartment (by themselves – is that allowed?)
All in all a normal day here. The kind that just makes me go run into the woods screaming. snicker
